El projecte té com a objectiu principal donar a conèixer les millors platges d'Eivissa per mitjà de votacions i comentaris que els usuaris deixaran en el sistema.

Localització indoor a través de dispositius Android

Durant el projecte s'ha planificat i dut a terme la creació i verificació d'un APP que simula una aplicació comercial senzilla. S'ha seleccionat una localització, el centre comercial l'Illa Diagonal, s'ha calibrat seguint les instruccions de WiFiSLAM, s'ha creat un APP que integra la visualització de la posició sobre plànol basada en el SDK de WiFiSLAM amb funcions de càlcul de distàncies i s'han fet proves per acotar la fiabilitat de la solució, la seva exactitud i la seva precisió.

Aplicació per Android : Pasapas

Aquest treball de final de carrera pretén aprofitar les característiques de la API d'Android en la gestió de la localització i el seu disseny modular, així com també utilitzar l'API de mapes de Google per a Android en una aplicació que té per objectiu principal l'enregistrament i la lectura de recorreguts i punts d'interés.

Direct identification of recombinant vaccinia virus plaques by PCR.

A fast method for the identification of recombinant vaccinia viruses directly from individual plaques is described. Plaques are picked, resuspended in PBS-A and processed for PCR using two 'universal' primers. The amplified sequences are analyzed by agarose gel electrophoresis. This procedure allows discrimination between spontaneously arising TK-negative mutants, which do not carry the inserted gene, and the desired TK-negative recombinants resulting from insertional inactivation of the TK gene.

Right coronary MR angiography at 7 T: a direct quantitative and qualitative comparison with 3 T in young healthy volunteers.

PURPOSE: To objectively compare quantitative parameters related to image quality attained at coronary magnetic resonance (MR) angiography of the right coronary artery (RCA) performed at 7 T and 3 T. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Institutional review board approval was obtained, and volunteers provided signed informed consent. Ten healthy adult volunteers (mean age ± standard deviation, 25 years ± 4; seven men, three women) underwent navigator-gated three-dimensional MR angiography of the RCA at 7 T and 3 T. For 7 T, a custom-built quadrature radiofrequency transmit-receive surface coil was used. At 3 T, a commercial body radiofrequency transmit coil and a cardiac coil array for signal reception were used. Segmented k-space gradient-echo imaging with spectrally selective adiabatic fat suppression was performed, and imaging parameters were similar at both field strengths. Contrast-to-noise ratio between blood and epicardial fat; signal-to-noise ratio of the blood pool; RCA vessel sharpness, diameter, and length; and navigator efficiency were quantified at both field strengths and compared by using a Mann-Whitney U test. RESULTS: The contrast-to-noise ratio between blood and epicardial fat was significantly improved at 7 T when compared with that at 3 T (87 ± 34 versus 52 ± 13; P = .01). Signal-to-noise ratio of the blood pool was increased at 7 T (109 ± 47 versus 67 ± 19; P = .02). Vessel sharpness obtained at 7 T was also higher (58% ± 9 versus 50% ± 5; P = .04). At the same time, RCA vessel diameter and length and navigator efficiency showed no significant field strength-dependent difference. CONCLUSION: In our quantitative and qualitative study comparing in vivo human imaging of the RCA at 7 T and 3 T in young healthy volunteers, parameters related to image quality attained at 7 T equal or surpass those from 3 T.

Proactive motivation and engagement in career behaviors: Investigating direct, mediated, and moderated effects

Proactive career behaviors become increasingly important in today's career environment, but little is known about how and when motivational patterns affect individual differences. In a six-month longitudinal study among German university students (Study 1; N = 289) it was demonstrated that motivation in terms of "can do" (self-efficacy and context beliefs), "reason to" (autonomous career goals), and "energized to" (positive affect) significantly predicted career behaviors. Contrary to expectation, negative context beliefs had a positive effect when combined with other motivational states. Study 2 replicated and extended those results by investigating whether "can do" motivation mediates the effect of proactive personality and whether those effects are conditional upon the degree of career choice decidedness. We tested a moderated multiple mediation model with a unique sample of 134 German students, assessed three times, each interval being 6 weeks apart. The results showed that effects of proactivity were partially carried through higher self-efficacy beliefs but not context beliefs. Supporting a moderation model, indirect effects through self-efficacy beliefs were not present for students with very low decidedness.

Greenberg i Danto : De l'últim gran relat a la fi de l'art

A partir de l'anàlisi comparatiu de l'obra de dos grans teòrics de la modernitat i la postmodernitat com són Clement Greenberg i Arthur C. Danto es fa un estudi de com aquests dos autors han arribat a construir els seus discursos i, en relació a això, com ha anat evolucionant el concepte d'art de la modernitat a la postmodernitat. La qüestió central que se'ns planteja és: què ha canviat en la idea d'art de la postmodernitat respecte a la idea o a la concepció d'art anterior, per arribar-nos a qüestionar si realment hi ha art i, si n'hi ha, què és art i que no ho és? Existeix una idea universal de què ha de ser art? O aquesta és una qüestió intrínsicament relacionada amb la societat en què es produeix; en aquest cas, la societat occidental?

A new efficient approach to the direct restricted active space self-consistent field method

An implicitly parallel method for integral-block driven restricted active space self-consistent field (RASSCF) algorithms is presented. The approach is based on a model space representation of the RAS active orbitals with an efficient expansion of the model subspaces. Determination of the direct band-gap energy of InAlAs matched to InP by photoluminescence excitation spectroscopy

A series of InxAl1-xAs samples (0.51≪x≪0.55)coherently grown on InP was studied in order to measure the band-gap energy of the lattice matched composition. As the substrate is opaque to the relevant photon energies, a method is developed to calculate the optical absorption coefficient from the photoluminescence excitation spectra. The effect of strain on the band-gap energy has been taken into account. For x=0.532, at 14 K we have obtained Eg0=1549±6 meV

En aquest projecte es pretén desenvolupar, utilitzant un framework gràfic (AndEngine), una aplicació lúdica sobre la plataforma Android enfocada principalment per a un smartphone senzill.

Direct visualization of the trimeric structure of the ASIC1a channel, using AFM imaging.

There has been confusion about the subunit stoichiometry of the degenerin family of ion channels. Recently, a crystal structure of acid-sensing ion channel (ASIC) 1a revealed that it assembles as a trimer. Here, we used atomic force microscopy (AFM) to image unprocessed ASIC1a bound to mica. We detected a mixture of subunit monomers, dimers and trimers. In some cases, triple-subunit clusters were clearly visible, confirming the trimeric structure of the channel, and indicating that the trimer sometimes disaggregated after adhesion to the mica surface. This AFM-based technique will now enable us to determine the subunit arrangement within heteromeric ASICs.

Genome Biology and Evolution of the Animal Kingdom

Estudi realitzat a partir d’una estada a la Institut J.W. Jenkinson Laboratory for Evolution and Development of the University of Oxford, Regne Unit, entre 2010 i 2012. He estat membre del laboratori del Professor Peter W.H. Holland com a becari post-doctoral Beatriu de Pinós des de setembre de 2010 al setembre de 2012. El nostre projecte de recerca se centra en l'anàlisi genòmic comparatiu del Regne Animal, tot explorant el contingut dels genomes a través de totes les branques de l'arbre dels animals. Crec que el nombre i la qualitat dels resultats del meu post-doc, un total de 8 publicacions incloent dos articles a la prestigiosa revista Nature, són prova de l'èxit d'aquest post-doc. Prof Peter W. H. Holland (Departament de Zoologia de la Universitat d'Oxford) i jo som coautors de tres articles de genòmica comparativa, resultats directes d'aquest projecte: 1) comparació de families gèniques entre vertebrats invertebrats (Briefings in Functional Genomics), 2) el genoma de l'ostra (publicat a la revista Nature), i 3) els genomes de 6 platihelmints paràsits (acceptat també a Nature). A més, tenim altres 2 treballs en preparació. Un d'ells analitza l'evolució, expressió i funció dels gens Hox al a la tènia Hymenolepis. El perfil fi d'aquests gens clau del desenvolupament esclareix els canvis d'estil de vida dels organismes. A més, durant aquest últim post-doc he participat en diverses col•laboracions, incloent anàlisi de gens d'envelliment a cucs plans, un estudi sobre la filogènia del grup Gastrotricha, una revisió de l'evolució phylum Platyhelminthes, així com un capítol d'un llibre sobre l'evolució dels animals bilaterals. Finalment, gràcies a la beca Beatriu de Pinós, el Prof. Peter W.H. Holland m'ha convidat a formar part del seu equip com un investigador post-doctoral en el seu projecte ERC Advance actual sobre duplicacions genòmiques.
