A utilização das Tecnologias de Informação e Comunicação como ferramenta didática no ensino da História e da Geografia

Os desafios que a educação hoje enfrenta, a par do extraordinário desenvolvimento das tecnologias de informação e comunicação exigem uma reflexão sobre as metodologias de ensino que propiciem uma maior motivação e o desenvolvimento de aprendizagens. O presente relatório resulta de um estudo sobre a aplicação de recursos baseados nas tecnologias de educação e comunicação (TIC) ao serviço da educação, realizada no âmbito da Prática de Ensino Supervisionada em Geografia e História. Esta prática decorreu em duas turmas da Escola Básica e Secundária Passos Manuel (Lisboa), uma do 10.º ano do ensino regular e outra do 11.º ano do Curso Profissional Técnico de Turismo, e numa turma do 9.º ano de escolaridade da Escola Secundária Miguel Torga (Sintra). Este trabalho assenta numa análise e reflexão sobre a aplicação das tecnologias digitais como ferramenta didática, e pretende demonstrar as potencialidades que este tipo de recursos representa no processo de ensino-aprendizagem, assim como os seus principais constrangimentos.

Child abuse monitor system model: a health care critical knowledge monitor system

The Childhood protection is a subject with high value for the society, but, the Child Abuse cases are difficult to identify. The process from suspicious to accusation is very difficult to achieve. It must configure very strong evidences. Typically, Health Care services deal with these cases from the beginning where there are evidences based on the diagnosis, but they aren’t enough to promote the accusation. Besides that, this subject it’s highly sensitive because there are legal aspects to deal with such as: the patient privacy, paternity issues, medical confidentiality, among others. We propose a Child Abuses critical knowledge monitor system model that addresses this problem. This decision support system is implemented with a multiple scientific domains: to capture of tokens from clinical documents from multiple sources; a topic model approach to identify the topics of the documents; knowledge management through the use of ontologies to support the critical knowledge sensibility concepts and relations such as: symptoms, behaviors, among other evidences in order to match with the topics inferred from the clinical documents and then alert and log when clinical evidences are present. Based on these alerts clinical personnel could analyze the situation and take the appropriate procedures.

School governance and academic excellence: the representations of distinguished students in an annual award of excellence

Within a research project on «academic excellence in the state school», this paper is a contribution to the sociological reflection on the cultural and organisational characteristics of the school and its relationship with the academic success of students. The data we present stem from a case study underway at a secondary school in the north of Portugal, referring to the universe of students that since 2003 have distinguished themselves for achieving grades equal to or greater than 18 (on a scale of 0 to 20) and have thus been included in the school’s Framework of Excellence. From a contextual approach to this educational practice, we focused on the cultural characteristics of the school/subject as analytical support for the study of school and non-school dimensions in their mutual connections. To this end, we used the information from document analysis and data collected from a questionnaire survey administered to more than two-thirds of the students included in the above-mentioned Framework of Excellence. Subsequently, we will use the data from this survey to understand the extent to which academic excellence is perceived as an indivisible social construction of the school’s political and organisational matrix, particularly in terms of the educational and teaching guidelines adopted by the management body. We will conclude by questioning the meaning of the school’s management policies regarding the emphasis on educational outcomes, with particular focus on the representations of excellent students in the processes of school leadership, teaching organisation, school merit and justice.

Automatic distinction of Fernando Pessoas’ heteronyms

Text Mining has opened a vast array of possibilities concerning automatic information retrieval from large amounts of text documents. A variety of themes and types of documents can be easily analyzed. More complex features such as those used in Forensic Linguistics can gather deeper understanding from the documents, making possible performing di cult tasks such as author identi cation. In this work we explore the capabilities of simpler Text Mining approaches to author identification of unstructured documents, in particular the ability to distinguish poetic works from two of Fernando Pessoas' heteronyms: Alvaro de Campos and Ricardo Reis. Several processing options were tested and accuracies of 97% were reached, which encourage further developments.

Equality and Inequalities in Health and Social Care in Northern Ireland

A Statistical Overview: 2002 Following some scene setting, the report draws together wide ranging information to document inequalities in health and social care in Northern Ireland that are relevant to the New Targeting Social Need (New TSN) policy, including the base report of the ‘Inequalities Monitoring System’. The overview also documents comparisons between people living in rural and non-rural areas, and between the statutory equality categories of Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act. While some of the information has been previously published most of the results are new, and the majority of the new analyses has been undertaken by IAD. åÊ

Internet va creixent i pot implicar que no sempre es garanteixi la qualitat de continguts. Aquest treball planteja veure com els individus usen una sèrie de mètodes (o etnomètodes) (Garfinkel, 1968), que poden ser més o menys sistemàtics, o més o menys informals, i que fan servir per a trobar la informació més vàlida. Gràcies a aquests mètodes, els individus quotidianament avaluen la credibilitat de les pàgines web.

Análisis y diseño de un sistema de acreditación de competencias digitales a través de entidades locales

Desenvoluparem un Sistema d'Acreditació de Competències Digitals a través d'entitats locals. El sistema consisteix en una sèrie de proves que es realitzaran presencialment o a través d'una plataforma en línia, aquestes proves demostraran les competències digitals dels usuaris, es registraran de manera que es puguin explotar les dades obtingudes, conèixer la situació en què es troba la població atesa per poder emprendre iniciatives adequades i avaluar el funcionament del propi sistema. Per a registrar les dades emprarem una base de dades ja existent, aquesta base de dades registra les diferents iniciatives que es duen a terme per part de l'entitat local.

TFC J2EE : proyecto biblioteca virtual

Como Trabajo de Fin de Carrera (TFC) se ha realizado el análisis, diseño e implementación de una aplicación utilizando tecnología Java y una arquitectura J2EE. El proyecto Biblioteca Virtual consiste en una aplicación accesible a través de Internet, en la que los usuarios pueden consultar el catálogo de libros disponibles, solicitarlos, realizar búsquedas específicas, etc. Además, presenta opciones para administrar el stock de libros y los préstamos.

Aplicació d'Ontologies per a aplicacions web del treball en grup

Aquest projecte estudia els conceptes de web semàntica, ontologia i llenguatges semàntics, i proposa un cas pràctic de disseny i desenvolupament d'una ontologia amb un prototipus de lloc web anotat semànticament.

OntPersonal: ontología de personalización para ITINER@, un sistema generador de rutas turísticas basado en información semántica

En este artículo se presenta la ontología OntPersonal, una ontología de personalización para la aplicación ITINER@, un sistema generador de rutas turísticas basado en información semántica. La ontología OntPersonal modela un conjunto de preferencias turísticas y restricciones de contexto asociadas al usuario final (turista), lo que se denomina su perfil. A partir de un juego de reglas SWRL se intentan inferir los puntos de interés (POI o visitables) -obtenidos de una ontología externa instanciada- más relevantes para cada perfil. Esta información, aunada a otras consideraciones, podría utilizarse por el sistema ITINER@ para construir rutas turísticas personalizadas. En este trabajo se presentan los resultados obtenidos al evaluar la ontología usando POI pertenecientes a la región de Esterri d'Àneu en Cataluña, España.
