Cette étude propose l’analyse de représentations queer dans le cinéma des années 2000. Plus précisément, elle porte sur la façon dont l’abus sexuel au masculin est représenté dans deux films produits en 2004, soit La mauvaise éducation (La mala educación), du réalisateur espagnol Pedro Almodovar, et Mysterious Skin, du réalisateur étatsunien Gregg Araki. À l’aide de la réflexion contenue dans Ça arrive aussi aux garçons : l’abus sexuel au masculin du sociologue Michel Dorais, l’objectif vise à démontrer comment cet événement traumatique influence de manière significative la construction identitaire et sexuelle des personnages principaux. De manière plus générale, ce mémoire positionne ces deux réalisateurs dans la grande et riche lignée du cinéma queer, qui met en scène des désirs hors norme et des identités sexuelles alternatives. Le premier chapitre porte sur les théories queer et ses diverses manifestations au grand écran. Il permet par la suite de réunir Almódovar et Araki dans une même étude et de souligner la pertinence de cette réunion. Le deuxième chapitre s’intéresse, à l’aide d’analyses d’extraits significatifs des films, à la façon dont chacun met en scène l’abus sexuel au masculin et comment cet événement se présente dans la vie des protagonistes. Le dernier chapitre se penche sur la construction identitaire et sexuelle des personnages principaux, afin de mieux comprendre l’incidence de l’abus sexuel. Jumelée aux travaux de Judith Butler, l’approche queer sera donc mise de l’avant dans cette étude qui se montre d’emblée attentive, d’un point de vue cinématographique, aux notions de sexe, de genre et de désir, et ce, à travers l’analyse de plusieurs extraits filmiques et d’éléments à la fois narratifs et structurels particulièrement significatifs quant à la représentation de l’abus sexuel au masculin.

Critical pedagogy is a transformation-based approach to education. The aim of this article is to introduce the origin, vision, action and consequences of critical pedagogy. It also aims on finding out about educators’ possibility of actualising it in their practice. As a source materials articles, book chapters and books are used. The literature shows that critical pedagogy has its origin in the tradition of critical theory of the Frankfurt School and the work of the Brazilian pedagog Paulo Freire. According to the literature, its major theses is that education should go beyond transfer of knowledge and training the future labour force; to help developing critical consciousness, which leads to transformation of the individual, learning environment and society at large. Critical pedagogy is criticised for a focus on macro level system, for not having a model for classroom implementation and for being abstract. Despite some critics, I argue that critical pedagogy has still the potential to empower those in the field of education to increase their consciousness about the injustice in their society and to involve in transforming it.   Keywords: Critical pedagogy, critical thinking, critical theory, dialogue, Frankfurt School, transformation.

The objective of this dissertation is understand the relationships built between subjects who occupy buildings in a state of abandonment to revitalize them - called okupas, noting which individuals construct such meanings on the practice of occupation and how to organize the construction and maintenance of a collective life project. Having the Okupa Squat Torém, located in the neighborhood of Fatima in the southern city of Fortaleza-CE, as locus and observed through the ethnographic method, followed the social practices of urban segment. I invested in a data collection revealed that the custom of okupas and their domestic habits, inside and outside of okupa, emphasizing the interaction situations, like most appropriate occasions to observe the constant negotiation and refinement of his cunning to intervene in the city . Among the objectives of this research, the main thing is to observe which senses are assigned to the practice of the occupation by okupas. For this, reflecting from the specifics of this urban phenomenon and talking mostly with the tradition of research in the field of anthropology, I tried to address some issues regarding the practice of okupação and organization of the group, which the principles and movements that make these contacts with city etc. The appropriation made by the subjects on the urban space here means understanding them as a cultural expression of a number of collective values, resulting from experience and perception of okupas like themselves. The intention is to show how this practice intervention and collective action has appeared in contemporary times and how my ethnography can contribute to a dialogue on the practices of mobilization and update of the city, considering the Theory of Recognition Axel Honneth (2003) as an analytical category useful to describe the forms of reciprocity experienced by okupas

A presente dissertação consiste na análise do romance Longe de Manaus, de Francisco José Viegas, publicado em 2005, em Portugal. O trabalho tem como objetivo responder ao questionamento de quais são as funções dos testemunhos na refiguração do tempo e na narração do passado? No âmbito teórico, analisa os atos de testemunhar e narrar associados ao conceito de memória e à ideia de distância a partir das abordagens de Paul Ricoeur e das contribuições de Carlo Guinzburg, de modo a relacionar a tradição do olhar interior com o exterior. Nos dois casos, a leitura de Agostinho se faz presente, pois o filósofo inaugura a memória como um produto da linguagem e preconiza a busca dos vestígios nos fenômenos mnemônicos. O contexto de produção é introduzido com as proposições de Eduardo Lourenço sobre a identidade nacional portuguesa, com a definição de sul proposta por Boaventura de Souza Santos e pelas colocações de Edgar Morin acerca do marxismo na atualidade, além de retomar a conjuntura da década de 1970 tendo em vista as pesquisas dos historiadores Eric Hobsbawn e Majhemout Diop, que estudaram o neocolonialismo. No âmbito analítico, é interpretada a organização cíclica do romance que entrecruza personagens e vozes narrativas de espaços e temporalidades diferentes, com a finalidade de abordar como a pobreza e a violência podem ser fatores constantes na África da década de 1970, sob o domínio imperial lusitano, ou nas cidades do Porto, São Paulo e Manaus contemporâneas. O narrador apresenta problemas sociais em Portugal, nos anos 2000, atrelados às politicas econômicas e à entrada de imigrantes do sul; concomitantemente, o protagonista Jaime Ramos debate a sua sociedade a partir de dois critérios: o de identidade nacional portuguesa, segundo o critério levantado por ele de solidão, e o de defesa da luta de classes como fator primordial para compreender os assassinatos investigados pela personagem. O estudo articula as noções de memória e literatura com a finalidade de analisar as estratégias narrativas presentes em Longe de Manaus.

Partiendo de la noción de literatura de pensamiento, como conjunto heterogéneo y complejo de formas literarias con vocación argumentativa, el estudio que sigue pretende mostrar a la vez el valor paradigmático del ensayo, en el marco de estas escrituras, y la naturaleza transfronteriza de los géneros de no-ficción, entre los cuales el ensayo y la crónica periodística constituyen dos de las formas más próximas. En un primer momento, se analizan los rasgos característicos del ensayo, tal como Montaigne lo concibió, con el fin de determinar las líneas de fuerza de esta forma matricial, de la que procede hasta hoy toda una tradición de escritos asistemáticos y porosos de naturaleza personal y reflexiva. En un segundo momento, se estudian los rasgos específicos de la crónica periodística contemporánea, a la luz del modelo canónico, poniendo el énfasis en la perspectiva subjetiva de la mirada y en la noción de actualidad, como principales indicadores de la dimensión permeable e híbrida de este género.

[es] Una de las manifestaciones relativas a la literatura de tradición oral de la isla de La Palma (Canarias) que se encuentra pendiente de estudio es la referida a las leyendas. Durante la segunda mitad del siglo xix, un destacado grupo de escritores rescató media docena de estas narraciones y las formalizó en algunas versiones impresas. Desde entonces, las mismas han quedado fijadas como el canon de leyendas «clásicas» de La Palma. Una de ellas es la que toca con la Pared del Diablo o de Roberto, en la Cumbre de los Andenes, en el borde superior del parque nacional de la Caldera de Taburiente. En la actualidad esta leyenda se mantiene como un relato trufado de contenidos románticos. Con el fin de profundizar en las raíces y la evolución de esta leyenda se realiza una descripción, inventario y análisis de las distintas versiones localizadas que abren nuevos horizontes de reflexión sobre cuestiones fundamentales en torno a conceptos como mito e historia, lengua y escritura, individuo y pueblo. [en] One of the manifestations related to the oral literary tradition of the island of La Palma (Canaries) which remains under study is the legendary genre. During the second half of the nineteenth century, an outstanding group of writers rescued half a dozen of these stories and formalized them in some printed versions. Since then, they have been set up as the canon of «classical» legends of La Palma. One of them deals with the wall of the Devil or the wall of Roberto, at the Cumbre de los Andenes, on the upper edge of the National Park Caldera de Taburiente. Today this legend continues to be a story charged with romantic nuances. In order to deepen into the roots and evolution of this legend, we have carried out a description, inventory and analysis of the different discovered versions, opening new horizons of reflection on fundamental questions regarding concepts such as myth and history, language and writing, individual and people.

Over the centuries, Switzerland has developed a unique and inimitable statehood that functions in peculiar geographical, social and political conditions, shaped by the tradition of exercising direct forms of power. It appears, however, that these tools of direct democracy can sometimes obstruct the changes of utmost significance for the development of modern statehood and democracy. This was the case of granting voting rights to women. Although many European and other states granted the rights to vote and stand for election to women in the 1920s and 1930s, Switzerland needed much longer to introduce this change: on the federal level, women’s suffrage was granted as late as in 1971, and the last to enjoy the right to partake in the political life of their canton were the women of Appenzell Innerrhoden, granted the right in 1990. The objective of this paper is to analyze the influence of the mechanisms of direct democracy on the introduction of voting rights for Swiss women.

This thesis examines three key moments in the intersecting histories of Scotland, Ireland and England, and their impact on literature. Chapter one Robert Bruce and the Last King of Ireland: Writing the Irish Invasion, 1315- 1826‘, is split into two parts. Part one, Barbour‘s (other) Bruce‘ focuses on John Barbour‘s The Bruce (1375) and its depiction of the Bruce‘s Irish campaign (1315-1318). It first examines the invasion material from the perspective of the existing Irish and Scottish relationship and their opposition to English authority. It highlights possible political and ideological motivations behind Barbour‘s negative portrait of Edward Bruce - whom Barbour presents as the catalyst for the invasion and the source of its carnage and ultimate failure - and his partisan comparison between Edward and his brother Robert I. It also probes the socio-polticial and ideological background to the Bruce and its depiction of the Irish campaign, in addition to Edward and Robert. It peers behind some of the Bruce‘s most lauded themes such as chivalry, heroism, loyalty, and patriotism, and exposes its militaristic feudal ideology, its propaganda rich rhetoric, and its illusions of freedom‘. Part one concludes with an examination of two of the Irish section‘s most marginalised figures, the Irish and a laundry woman. Part two, Cultural Memories of the Bruce Invasion of Ireland, 1375-1826‘, examines the cultural memory of the Bruce invasion in three literary works from the Medieval, Early Modern and Romantic periods. The first, and by far the most significant memorialisation of the invasion is Barbour‘s Bruce, which is positioned for the first time within the tradition of ars memoriae (art of memory) and present-day cultural memory theories. The Bruce is evaluated as a site of memory and Barbour‘s methods are compared with Icelandic literature of the same period. The recall of the invasion in late sixteenth century Anglo-Irish literature is then considered, specifically Edmund Spenser‘s A View of the State of Ireland, which is viewed in the context of contemporary Ulster politics. The final text to be considered is William Hamilton Drummond‘s Bruce’s Invasion of Ireland (1826). It is argued that Drummond‘s poem offers an alternative Irish version of the invasion; a counter-memory that responds to nineteenth-century British politics, in addition to the controversy surrounding the publication of the Ossian fragments. Chapter two, The Scots in Ulster: Policies, Proposals and Projects, 1551-1575‘, examines the struggle between Irish and Scottish Gaels and the English for dominance in north Ulster, and its impact on England‘s wider colonial ideology, strategy, literature and life writing. Part one entitled Noisy neighbours, 1551-1567‘ covers the deputyships of Sir James Croft, Sir Thomas Radcliffe, and Sir Henry Sidney, and examines English colonial writing during a crucial period when the Scots provoked an increase in militarisation in the region. Part two Devices, Advices, and Descriptions, 1567-1575‘, deals with the relationship between the Scots and Turlough O‘Neill, the influence of the 5th Earl of Argyll, and the rise of Sorley Boy MacDonnell. It proposes that a renewed Gaelic alliance hindered England‘s conquest of Ireland and generated numerous plantation proposals and projects for Ulster. Many of which exhibit a blurring‘ between the documentary and the literary; while all attest to the considerable impact of the Gaelic Scots in both motivating and frustrating various projects for that province, the most prominent of which were undertaken by Sir Thomas Smith in 1571 and Walter Devereux, 1st Earl of Essex in 1573.

The purpose of this dissertation is to produce a new Harmonie arrangement of Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte suitable for modern performance, bringing Joseph Heidenreich’s 1782 arrangement—one of the great treasures of the wind repertoire—to life for future performers and audiences. I took advantage of the capabilities of modern wind instruments and performance techniques, and employed other instruments normally found in the modern wind ensemble to create a work in the tradition of Heidenreich’s that restored as much of Mozart’s original thinking as possible. I expanded the Harmonie band to include flute and string bass. Other instruments provide special effects, a traditional role for wind instruments in the Classical opera orchestra. This arrangement is conceived to be performed with the original vocal soloists, making it a viable option for concert performance or for smaller staged productions. It is also intended to allow the wind players to be onstage with the singers, becoming part of the dramatic action while simultaneously serving as the “opera orchestra.” This allows creative staging possibilities, and offers the wind players an opportunity to explore new aspects of performing. My arrangement also restores Mozart’s music to its original keys and retains much of his original wind scoring. This arrangement expands the possibilities for collaboration between opera studios, voice departments or community opera companies and wind ensembles. A suite for winds without voices (currently in production) will allow conductors to program this major work from the Classical era without dedicating a concert program to the complete opera. Excerpted arias and duets from this arrangement provide vocalists the option of using chamber wind accompaniment on recitals. The door is now open to arrangements of other operas by composers such as Mozart, Rossini and Weber, adding new repertoire for chamber winds and bringing great music to life in a new way.

Economic Literacy ist ein politischer und demokratischer Ansatz. Er entstand in den 1980er Jahren im Kontext der Internationalen Frauenbewegung. Angelehnt an die Pädagogik der Befreiung von Paulo Freire, soll dabei Wirtschaftswissen in gemeinschaftlicher Auseinandersetzung gestaltet und veränderbar gemacht werden. Die beiden Autorinnen stellen in diesem Beitrag ihre Bildungsarbeit vor. Sie plädieren in der Tradition eines feministisch inspirierten Hinterfragens neoliberaler Konzepte für ein Wirtschaftswissen, das die Lebensdienlichkeit der Ökonomie ins Zentrum stellt. Mittels der Methode des Psychodramas suchen sie Antwort auf Fragen wie: Wem wird die Kompetenz (nicht) zugeschrieben, über Wirtschaft zu sprechen? Welche AkteurInnen mit welchen Interessen bekommen den Raum, ihre wirtschaftlichen Positionen kundzutun? Wer hält die Deutungsmacht über das "richtige" Wirtschaftswissen, wer die Macht zu entscheiden? Wirtschaftswissen soll so neu verhandelt werden, die Wirtschaftsexpertise von Frauen sichtbar gemacht und letztlich die Frage virulent werden: Wie wollen wir, als Gesellschaft, die Bereitstellung von lebensnotwendigen Gütern und Dienstleistungen gestalten? Tutkimus tarkastelee luovutetusta Karjalasta lähtöisin olevien evakkolasten tunnemuistoja ja niiden yhteyttä myöhempään hyvinvointiin. Keskiössä ovat koti- ja koulukasvatusta muistelevien ikäihmisten kokemukset. Tutkimus on kasvatushistoriallinen ja tieteidenvälinen. Se liikkuu historian sekä yhteiskunta- ja käyttäytymistieteiden rajapinnoilla. Aineiston 631 kyselyvastausta ja 11 haastattelua on analysoitu monimetodisesti tilastollisen ja sisällön analyysin avulla. Tulosten mukaan ikääntyvät evakkolapset voivat pääsääntöisesti hyvin. He ovat kotikasvatuksessaan omaksuneet vahvat selviytymis- ja sopeutumistaidot sekä sisukkuuden. Kodin kasvatusilmapiiri on menetyksistä huolimatta koettu turvalliseksi. Kasvatuksessa omaksutuissa sananlaskuissa korostuu vahvimmin tulevaisuuden toivosta kiinni pitäminen. Kasvatusmetodit myötäilevät suomalaista kasvatustraditiota, jossa lapsia on enimmäkseen palkittu hyvästä työstä sanallisesti ja rangaistu tottelemattomuudesta ruumiillisesti. Surua ja menetyksiä on käsitelty vaikenemalla. Yhdeksi elämää kannattelevaksi voimaksi ovat osoittautuneet laulut, joista suosituin oli Maan korvessa kulkevi lapsosen tie. Kasvatusperintönä evakkolapset haluavat jättää mallin työteliäästä, rehellisestä, toiset huomioivasta ja juuristaan tietoisesta kansalaisesta. Koulukokemusten osalta tutkimus osoittaa kantaväestöstä poikkeavan uskonnollisen ja kielellisen taustan olleen merkittävin syrjityksi tulemisen syy. Ortodoksitaustaisilla lapsilla oli muita evakkolapsia enemmän kiusaamiskokemuksia. Metaforien avulla kuvatuista tunnemuistoista löytyi kuusi erilaista selviytyjätyyppiä: selviytyjäsankarit, identiteetin etsijät, optimistiset toimijat, trauman työstäjät, kohtalonsa hyväksyjät ja menetysten kantajat. Valtaosa evakkolapsista kuuluu positiivista tunnemuistoa kantavien ryhmään. Kielteisillä tunnemuistoilla on tilastollisesti merkitsevä negatiivinen yhteys ikääntyvän hyvinvointiin. Tutkimus lisää ymmärrystä evakkolasten kasvukokemuksista ja tarjoaa uutta tietoa heidän selviytymisestään ja hyvinvoinnistaan. Tutkimus osoittaa evakkolasten tasapainoisen kotikasvatuksen, vastavuoroisten vertaissuhteiden ja suositun oppilaan aseman vahvistavan yhteisöön kuulumista ja sosiaalista pystyvyyttä sekä olevan hyvinvoinnin positiivisia tekijöitä. Kodin melankolisuudella, eristyneisyydellä ja koulukiusaamisella on negatiivinen yhteys hyvinvointiin. Tuloksia voidaan soveltaa nykypäivän pakolaislasten kotouttamiseen, jossa ensiarvoisen tärkeää on perheiden osallisuuden ja integroitumisen tukeminen uudessa ympäristössä. Tämän onnistumiseksi on tärkeää huomioida lasten yksilölliset selviytymisstrategiat ja käsitellä kodin menetystraumaa.
