Los cambios socieoeconómicos acaecidos a partir de la segunda mitad del siglo XX, marcan el inicio de una nueva forma de gestionar las ciudades. Ahora, los territorios pasan a formar parte de un nuevo mercado donde entran en competencia con otras ciudades para captar nuevas inversiones y atraer turismo. El ciudadano pasa de ser administrado a ser cliente, que ahora exige mayor calidad en los servicios. Es, en este nuevo entorno, cuando las ciudades son consideradas como producto y se introduce el marketing en la administración de las ciudades. Se focaliza la atención en el consumidor y se implantan estrategias propias del marketing utilizadas con éxito en el sector privado. La administración pública, sin embargo, presenta unas especificaciones determinadas que limita la adopción de estas herramientas ya que los fines del sector público no coinciden plenamente con los objetivos del sector privado basados en la obtención de beneficios y el aumento de las ventas. Una de las técnicas adoptadas por las ciudades que adquiere mayor protagonismo en los últimos 15 años consiste en la creación de una marca ciudad o city branding que tiene como objetivo dotar a la ciudad de una identidad, unos valores y una personalidad que le ayude a posicionarse en el mercado y a diferenciarse del resto de la competencia. Como otras muchas ciudades, la ciudad de Sant Cugat también está en proceso de creación de su marca que le ayude a destacar de sus competidoras para atraer turismo, inversión y nuevos habitantes.

Les darreres recerques dutes a terme en el Projecte Ager Tarraconensis (PAT) han permès augmentar considerablement els coneixements existents sobre l’antiguitat tardana al territorium de Tarraco, tema que ja havíem estudiat parcialment en la nostra tesi doctoral (1992), que inclou també altres àrees del Camp de Tarragona no incloses al PAT. D’altra banda, en els darrers anys hem tingut també ocasió d’estudiar parcialment el poblament antic a la zona de les terres de l’Ebre i al nord del País Valencià, molt especialment a les comarques de l’Alt Palància i la Plana de Castelló. El conjunt d’aquests estudis ens permet plantejar una visió general sobre el poblament tardoantic en una zona determinada que correspon a la part costanera meridional de l’antiga provincia Tarraconensis, amb els límits i la denominació que rep a partir de la divisió de Dioclecià. L’estudi comparatiu del poblament tardoantic d’aquestes àrees permet contrastar, a més de punts en comú, també algunes diferències, tant en el diferent grau de pervivència dels hàbitats després de la crisi del segle III com en l’aparició de nous tipus d’hàbitats (poblats en altura) que no apareixen en totes les àrees, sinó només en les més meridionals. S’aborda també la problemàtica de l’existència d’unes poques vil·les luxoses durant el segle IV (especialment la controvertida de Centcelles), en contrast amb altres hàbitats més modestos, així com el pas de la vil·la a un altre tipus de poblament dispers.

Tourism is one of the most important sectors in the global economy and is considered an efficient tool with which to promote economic growth. The case of Spain¿s economy is well known in this respect; in fact, widespread consensus exists on the part played by tourism in enhancing the industrialisation process in Spain and the part played by foreign currency receipts from tourism in financing the imports of capital goods, which made the expansion of manufacturing possible. This paper aims to assess the real role of foreign currency receipts from tourism in Spain¿s economy from 1960 to the present. The results of Spain¿s experience may well help to guide policy decisions in developing countries in similar circumstances.

The large hadron collider constructed at the European organization for nuclear research, CERN, is the world’s largest single measuring instrument ever built, and also currently the most powerful particle accelerator that exists. The large hadron collider includes six different experiment stations, one of which is called the compact muon solenoid, or the CMS. The main purpose of the CMS is to track and study residue particles from proton-proton collisions. The primary detectors utilized in the CMS are resistive plate chambers (RPCs). To obtain data from these detectors, a link system has been designed. The main idea of the link system is to receive data from the detector front-end electronics in parallel form, and to transmit it onwards in serial form, via an optical fiber. The system is mostly ready and in place. However, a problem has occurred with innermost RPC detectors, located in sector labeled RE1/1; transmission lines for parallel data suffer from signal integrity issues over long distances. As a solution to this, a new version of the link system has been devised, a one that fits in smaller space and can be located within the CMS, closer to the detectors. This RE1/1 link system has been so far completed only partially, with just the mechanical design and casing being done. In this thesis, link system electronics for RE1/1 sector has been designed, by modifying the existing link system concept to better meet the requirements of the RE1/1 sector. In addition to completion of the prototype of the RE1/1 link system electronics, some testing for the system has also been done, to ensure functionality of the design.

Entenent el context global en el que estem amb les pertorbacions com són el pic del petroli o el canvi climàtic, el projecte ha treballa el vector alimentació de Granollers des de la perspectiva de les ciutats en Transició. Primer per entendre les iniciatives en Transició i com s'implementen s'ha elaborat unes entrevistes semiestrucutrades a 4 iniciatives en Transició. S'ha observat que totes les iniciatives depenen dels contextos objectius en que estant tot i que busquen la resiliència. Per treballar el vector alimentació s'ha portat a terme un model participatiu on s'han extret un conjunt de propostes i preocupacions per part d'actors relacionats amb el sistema alimentari de Granollers. Aquest treball serveix com una eina per entendre més bé les iniciatives en Transició i per començar a treballar el vector alimentació a partir de les conclusions extretes del model participatiu.

The role of transport in the economy is twofold. As a sector of economic activity it contributes to a share of national income. On the other hand, improvements in transport infrastructure create room for accelerated economic growth. As a means to support railways as a safe and environmentally friendly transportation mode, the EU legislation has required the opening of domestic railway freight for competition from beginning of year 2007. The importance of railways as a mode of transport has been great in Finland, as a larger share of freight has been carried on rails than in Europe on average. In this thesis it is claimed that the efficiency of goods transport can be enhanced by service specific investments. Furthermore, it is stressed that simulation can and should be used to evaluate the cost-efficiency of transport systems on operational level, as well as to assess transportation infrastructure investments. In all the studied cases notable efficiency improvements were found. For example in distribution, home delivery of groceries can be almost twice as cost efficient as the current practice of visiting the store. The majority of the cases concentrated on railway freight. In timber transportation, the item with the largest annual transport volume in domestic railway freight in Finland, the transportation cost could be reduced most substantially. Also in international timber procurement, the utilization of railway wagons could be improved by combining complementary flows. The efficiency improvements also have positive environmental effects; a large part of road transit could be moved to rails annually. If impacts of freight transport are included in cost-benefit analysis of railway investments, up to 50 % increase in the net benefits of the evaluated alternatives can be experienced, avoiding a possible inbuilt bias in the assessment framework, and thus increasing the efficiency of national investments in transportation infrastructure. Transportation systems are a typical example of complex real world systems that cannot be analysed realistically by analytical methods, whereas simulation allows inclusion of dynamics and the level of detail required. Regarding simulation as a viable tool for assessing the efficiency of transportation systems finds support also in the international survey conducted for railway freight operators; operators use operations research methods widely for planning purposes, while simulation is applied only by the larger operators.

In the last few years, the Ukrainian investment market has constantly shown strong performance and significant growth. This is primarily due to the investment attractiveness of Ukraine. From the perspective of investments in energy sector, Ukraine can be described as a country providing significant number of opportunities to multiply invested funds. But there are numbers of risks which hamper large investments. The work objective was to discover opportunities in small-scale hydropower and wind power sectors of Ukraine and more importantly to prove economic expediency of such investments. Thesis covers major of issues, concerning entering the Ukrainian power market as a foreign investor. It provides basic information about the structure of power market, the state of renewables sector in Ukraine, development of power sector in the regions, functioning of Wholesale Electricity Market, formation of electricity prices, possibilities for implementing joint Implementation mechanism, while the most attention, nevertheless, is concentrated on the opportunities in small-scale hydro and wind power sectors. Theoretical part of the study disclosed that Crimea peninsula has perfect wind conditions and could be a prospective area for wind project development. Investment analysis revealed that project profits will be excellent if green tariff for renewable energy is adopted. By the moment uncertainties about green law adoption bring additional risk to the projects and complicate any investment decision.

És per això, junt amb el seu baix cost, que fa que qualsevol empresa disposi del seu propi espai a la xarxa. D’aquestes idees sorgeix el projecte de fer la web per AutoSuministres Motor. La principal funció de la web es donar-se a conèixer i ensenyar els seus productes, que en aquest cas, són autocaravanes i caravanes. Tot i així, la pàgina web contindrà un espai de reportatges on l’usuari podrà conèixer més a fons un model concret d’autocaravana o caravana i on també podrà demanar més informació mitjançant un formulari de contacte. Per tant, la pàgina web serà totalment administrable perquè els comercials puguin introduir els vehicles corresponents i l’usuari final pugui consultarlos correctament d’una manera fàcil i senzilla. Per tal de dur a terme aquesta web s’ha tingut en compte utilitzar eines de programació de distribució lliure com és el llenguatge PHP, la base de dades MySQL i jQuery.

relationship between productivity and international position of Spanish chemical firms in the period 2005-2011. The goal is to determine whether companies that follow and international strategy, either with exports or by investment in foreign countries obtain greater productivity growth than these that do not operate in global market. For this purpose a panel data set with microdata has been created. A preliminary analysis of the evolution of productivity growth in the sector is carried out. The measurement of Total Factor Productivity is performed. With the estimated TFP we analyze the differentials in productivity growth, comparing the effects of export and investment behavior with non-international firms.
