This study aims to analyze the adjustment of women, victims of intimate partner violence, by applying the Prochaska and Di Clemente Stages of Change Model. An interpretative qualitative study was made in 35 domestic violence victims women detected in primary care, women who recognized their relationship as abusive (perceived maltreatment). This is a multicentric study, with participation of six health centers of Malaga city. Biographical Narration technique by audio-recorded and transcribed interview was used; about this, thematic analysis adjustment to Transtheoretic Model phases was applied. ATLAS-TI 5.0 program was used for codification. Precontemplative, maintenance and ending stages were more represented while action phases were poorly mentioned. Main phases characteristics were: "blindness" and inexplicability in precontemplative stage; pros / cons analysis in contemplative phase; making decisions difficulty in action phases; suffering and going ahead purpose in maintenance stage, and determination and analysis capacity in the ending stage. Keys for intervention according to the phase of the process were offered.

Kilpailukeinojen muuttuessa teollisuusyritysten muutostarve nopeutuu. Tämä aiheuttaa yritysten henkilökunnalle uusia haasteita ja lisää paineita elinikäiseen oppimiseen. Samalla se aiheuttaa koko yrityksen organisaatiolle yhteisen oppimisen tarpeen eli muuttumisen oppivaksi organisaatioksi. työssä on tutkittu oppivan organisaation käsitettä, valmiuksia muutosjohtamiseen sekä tarvittavaa asennetta muutosten tehokkaaseen läpivientiin. Muutoksen johtamiseen on esitetty muutosmallia, jonka sovellettavuutta on arvioitu case-yrityksen avulla. Muutosasenteen lisäksi on kiinnitetty huomiota mittaamiseen ja muutosten jatkumiseen päättymättöminä prosesseina. Työn tulokseksi saatiin mm. seuraavia toimenpide-ehdotuksia: Koulutusta tulisi lisätä ylimmälle johdole ja mielipidevaikuttajille. Organisaatiota pitäisi muuttaa tiedonkulkua suosivaksi ja saattaa tietojärjestelmät joustaviksi ja muutoksia tukeviksi järjestelmmiksi.

Background: There is growing evidence suggesting that prolonged sitting has negative effects on people's weight, chronic diseases and mortality. Interventions to reduce sedentary time can be an effective strategy to increase daily energy expenditure. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of a six-month primary care intervention to reduce daily of sitting time in overweight and mild obese sedentary patients. Method/Design: The study is a randomized controlled trial (RCT). Professionals from thirteen primary health care centers (PHC) will randomly invite to participate mild obese or overweight patients of both gender, aged between 25 and 65 years old, who spend 6 hours at least daily sitting. A total of 232 subjects will be randomly allocated to an intervention (IG) and control group (CG) (116 individuals each group). In addition, 50 subjects with fibromyalgia will be included. Primary outcome is: (1) sitting time using the activPAL device and the Marshall questionnaire. The following parameters will be also assessed: (2) sitting time in work place (Occupational Sitting and Physical Activity Questionnaire), (3) health-related quality of life (EQ-5D), (4) evolution of stage of change (Prochaska and DiClemente's Stages of Change Model), (5) physical inactivity (catalan version of Brief Physical Activity Assessment Tool), (6) number of steps walked (pedometer and activPAL), (7) control based on analysis (triglycerides, total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, glycemia and, glycated haemoglobin in diabetic patients) and (8) blood pressure and anthropometric variables. All parameters will be assessed pre and post intervention and there will be a follow up three, six and twelve months after the intervention. A descriptive analysis of all variables and a multivariate analysis to assess differences among groups will be undertaken. Multivariate analysis will be carried out to assess time changes of dependent variables. All the analysis will be done under the intention to treat principle. Discussion: If the SEDESTACTIV intervention shows its effectiveness in reducing sitting time, health professionals would have a low-cost intervention tool for sedentary overweight and obese patients management.

Mergers and acquisitions (M&A) have played very important role in restructuring the pulp and paper industry (PPI). The poor performance and fragmented nature of the industry, overcapacity problems, and globalisation have driven companies to consolidate. The objective of this thesis was to examine how PPI acquirers’ have performed subsequent M&As and whether the deal characteristics have had any impact on performance. Based on the results it seems that PPI companies have not been able to enhance their performance in the long run after M&As although the per-formance of acquiring firms has remained above the industry median, and deal characteristics or the amount of premiums paid do not seem to have had any effect. The statistical significance of the results was tested with change model and regression analysis. Performance was assessed with accrual, cash flow, and market based indicators. Results are congruent with behavioural theory: managers and investors seem to be overoptimistic in determining the synergies from M&As.

The main target of this research was to define effects of the organizational change on leaders' work in a paper mill's production. It also focuses on producing knowledge of how the change process succeeded in its context. The theoretical part of this study emphasizes the organizational change as a phenomenon, introduces different change models, and reviews leadership in the change and also employees' engagement to the change. From the middle-managers' point of view it was essential to study, how the change process had been implemented. The empirical part of this study is comprised of the interviews of 14 middle-managers in the production of UPM-Kymmene Oyj, Kaukas Paper Mill. The interview data was gathered up and analyzed by the qualitative research method. The research findings underline that the change increases the middle-managers' responsibility for their subordinates welfare at work and work motivation, likewise responsibility for their safety at work. The employees also need more guidance and supervision in order to keep up with their work. The manager is in a key position when engaging the employees to the change. The research results do not offer only one detailed answer to choose a certain change model. As a multiform and complex process, change always requires some situational evaluation.

The knowledge on the optics of fogbows is scarce, and their polarization characteristics have never been measured to our knowledge. To fill this gap we measured the polarization features of 16 fogbows during the Beringia 2005 Arctic polar research expedition by imaging polarimetry in the red, green and blue spectral ranges. We present here the first polarization patterns of the fogbow. In the patterns of the degree of linear polarization p, fogbows and their supernumerary bows are best visible in the red spectral range due to the least dilution of fogbow light by light scattered in air. In the patterns of the angle of polarization α fogbows are practically not discernible because their α-pattern is the same as that of the sky: the direction of polarization is perpendicular to the plane of scattering and is parallel to the arc of the bow, independently of the wavelength. Fogbows and their supernumeraries were best seen in the patterns of the polarized radiance. In these patterns the angular distance δ between the peaks of the primary and the first supernumerary and the angular width σ of the primary bow were determined along different radii from the center of the bow. δ ranged between 6.08° and 13.41° , while σ changed from 5.25° to 19.47° . Certain fogbows were relatively homogeneous, meaning small variations of δ and σ along their bows. Other fogbows were heterogeneous, possessing quite variable δ- and σ-values along their bows. This variability could be a consequence of the characteristics of the high Arctic with open waters within the ice shield resulting in the spatiotemporal change of the droplet size within the fog

The aim of this study was to produce information on the implementation of the change process made according to the Kotter’s change model in HUSServis call operator services and to understand the success of the change process experienced by the call operators and the team leaders. The study was a qualitative case study. The research methods used were the researcher’s own participatory observation and the electronic survey. The survey was conducted by e-mail, using Webropol - software. The target group consisted of 32 persons, in which 29 were call operators and 3 were team leaders. The results of the study showed that the implementation of the change process made according to the Kotter’s change model was experienced successfully. The change was influenced by the successful selection of persons to the guiding coalition and an assertive leadership, in which the trust was enhanced in a research organization by increasing communication and feedback. This influence had a great positive change on the working environment. It also had a clear impact on the willingness of the personnel to be involved in change, which led to a clear improvement on the customer services.

Julkisen sektorin organisaatioita on kritisoitu niiden tehottomuudesta palveluiden tuottajina ja kritiikki on lisännyt keskustelua julkisen ja yksityisen sektorin sopivasta suhteesta. Julkisen sektorin organisaatioissa tilanteeseen on herätty ja toiminnan tehostamiseen on alettu etsiä keinoja. New Public Management:in ja tulosjohtamisen ajatusmaailma ovat ottaneet jalansijaa julkisen sektorin johtamisessa ja samalla tuoneet mukanaan entistä tulospainotteisempaa ajattelutapaa. Helsingin kaupungin liikuntavirastolla siirryttiin bruttobudjetoinnista nettobudjetointiin vuoden 2013 alusta. Budjetointimenetelmän muutoksen taustalla vaikuttaa tavoite viraston toiminnan tehostamisesta. Tutkimus keskittyy selvittämään liikuntaviraston muutosprosessia ja uuden budjetointimenetelmän implementointia. Tutkimuksen tavoitteena on luoda työkalu helpottamaan nettobudjetoinnin implementointia. Tutkimuksen empiirinen aineisto kerättiin puolistrukturoitujen haastattelujen avulla, jotka suoritettiin joulukuun 2012 ja huhtikuun 2013 välillä. Empiiriseen aineistoon ja muutosjohtamisen teoriaan nojaten tutkimuksessa onnistuttiin luomaan liikuntavirastolle muutosprosessin vaihemalli, joka sisältää toimenpide-ehdotuksia muutoksen ja uuden budjetointimenetelmän implementoinnin helpottamiseksi.

Au regard des restrictions à l’incarcération introduites par l’adoption de la Loi sur le système de justice pénale pour les adolescents (LSJPA), au Centre jeunesse de Montréal - Institut universitaire (CJM-IU), s’est amorcée en 2005 la mise sur pied du programme de suivis intensifs différenciés (SID) dans la communauté. Notre stage de maitrise en intervention clinique avait comme objectifs : de participer à la mise en œuvre transversale du programme SID, de contribuer à son intégrité, de supporter les intervenants y étant associés ainsi que de bonifier le processus de référence de ce programme en développant un outil d’évaluation. Suite à cette expérience, il nous semblait nécessaire d’entreprendre une réflexion sur la situation d’implantation du programme SID, plus précisément de faire une évaluation de type formatif et constructif du niveau de concordance entre son modèle théorique et son application au quotidien ainsi que des obstacles rencontrés. Une méthodologie qualitative est apparue appropriée pour produire le matériel. Deux techniques ont été utilisées, l’observation participante sur le terrain et l’analyse du contenu de documents écrits (procès-verbaux rédigés après certains comités). Pour structurer l’ensemble du présent rapport de stage, nous avons retenu le concept de plan d’action d’un programme proposé par Chen, dont les six composantes servent de grille à l’évaluation et aident à avoir une vue globale de son implantation, ainsi que le modèle de changement de programme de la TCU (pour Texas Christian University), qui inclut les principaux stades de changement et les facteurs, aux niveaux individuel, organisationnel et du programme en soi, favorisant ou entravant la mise en œuvre d’innovations avec succès. À la lumière de notre analyse, nous considérons qu’il serait possible de surmonter ce qui gêne l’application du programme SID et qu’il ne serait pas obligatoire de faire des changements majeurs à sa théorie. Nous nous sommes permis de suggérer des ajustements qui pourraient être apportés au processus d’implantation de ce programme. En conclusion, nous estimons que la mise en œuvre du programme SID pourrait être réussie seulement si les conditions propices étaient réunies. Toutefois, selon nous, il y aura toujours certaines contraintes avec lesquelles il faudra composer.

The IPD Annual Index is the largest and most comprehensive Real Estate market index available in the UK Such coverage however inevitably leads to delays in publication. In contrast there are a number of quarterly and monthly indices which are published within days of the year end but which lack the coverage in terms of size and numbers of properties. This paper analyses these smaller but more timely indices to see whether such indices can be used to predict the performance of the IPD Annual Index. Using a number of measures of forecasting accuracy it is shown that the smaller indices provide unbiased and efficient predictions of the IPD Annual Index. Such indices also significantly outperform a naive no-change model. Although no one index performs significantly better than the others. The more timely indices however do not perfectly track the IPD Annual Index. As a result any short run predictions of performance will be subject to a degree of error. Nevertheless the more timely indices, although lacking authoritative coverage, provide a valuable service to investors giving good estimates of Real Estates performance well before the publication of the IPD Annual Index.

The Canadian Middle Atmosphere Model is used to examine the sensitivity of simulated climate to conservation of momentum in gravity wave drag parameterization. Momentum conservation requires that the parameterized gravity wave momentum flux at the top of the model be zero and corresponds to the physical boundary condition of no momentum flux at the top of the atmosphere. Allowing momentum flux to escape the model domain violates momentum conservation. Here the impact of momentum conservation in two sets of model simulations is investigated. In the first set, the simulation of present-day climate for two model-lid height configurations, 0.001 and 10 hPa, which are identical below 10 hPa, is considered. The impact of momentum conservation on the climate with the model lid at 0.001 hPa is minimal, which is expected because of the small amount of gravity wave momentum flux reaching 0.001 hPa. When the lid is lowered to 10 hPa and momentum is conserved, there is only a modest impact on the climate in the Northern Hemisphere; however, the Southern Hemisphere climate is more adversely affected by the deflection of resolved waves near the model lid. When momentum is not conserved in the 10-hPa model the climate is further degraded in both hemispheres, particularly in winter at high latitudes, and the impact of momentum conservation extends all the way to the surface. In the second set of simulations, the impact of momentum conservation and model-lid height on the modeled response to ozone depletion in the Southern Hemisphere is considered, and it is found that the response can display significant sensitivity to both factors. In particular, both the lower-stratospheric polar temperature and surface responses are significantly altered when the lid is lowered, with the effect being most severe when momentum is not conserved. The implications with regard to the current round of Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change model projections are discussed.

A presente dissertação tem por objetivo identificar - por meio do estudo de caso da implantação do PRC - Programa de Racionalização e Competitividade na Caixa Econômica Federal - se existem padrões de respostas e soluções organizacionais que possam ensejar um modelo básico de inovação e mudança organizacional tipicamente brasileiro. Considerando que o turbulento ambiente empresarial brasileiro desenvolveu empresas altamente adaptáveis às provocações ambientais por meio de diversos modelos de gestão de mudança organizacional, o presente estudo num primeiro momento faz uma revisão da literatura sobre o tema. Em seguida, descreve o contexto e os diversos modelos de gestão experimentados pela CAIXA, no período de 1989 a 1998, visando registrar e sistematizar informações que poderão permitir que se vislumbre, ao longo do tempo, traços comuns que possam caracterizar esse típico modelo de inovação e mudança organizacional brasileiro. Os resultados obtidos da pesquisa de campo, respaldados pelo exame bibliográfico, permitiu concluir que o processo de mudança experimentado pela organização em virtude da implementação do programa foi despertado tanto por variáveis do contexto interno quanto do contexto externo, com semelhante intensidade. Adicionalmente, pode-se concluir que houve mais facilidade da organização em lidar com as perspectivas estratégica, estrutural e humana, e mais dificuldade em lidar com as perspectivas tecnológica, cultural e política. Confirma-se, portanto, que algumas perspectivas do processo de mudança experimentado pela CAIXA denotaram práticas de inovação organizacional e que, entretanto, outras perspectivas não puderam ser reproduzidas de modo confiável, em uma escala significativa a custos razoáveis.

Este pesquisa, inserida no campo de estudo sobre mudanças organizacionais, buscou investigar como é realizada a gestão de mudanças na Criminalística da Polícia Federal. Para isso, partiu-se de um referencial teórico para a estruturação de categorias de análise essenciais para o estudo do tema, agrupadas em três dimensões: conteúdo da mudança, processo de implementação da mudança e contexto em que ocorreu a mudança. Dessa forma, essa pesquisa de caráter qualitativo avaliou o processo de gestão de mudança ocorrido por meio da implementação de indicadores de complexidade na Criminalística da Polícia Federal, à luz do modelo proposto por John P. Kotter para a implementação eficaz de mudanças nas organizações, considerando sua interação com as circunstâncias contextais prevalecentes. Para a coleta de dados foram utilizadas entrevistas semiestruturadas com os componentes do corpo gerencial e diretor da Criminalística, responsáveis pela condução do processo de implementação da mudança. A análise de documentos institucionais e a observação direta complementaram a coleta dos dados. Os resultados apontaram para uma significante concorrência dos fatores relacionados às três dimensões estudadas que impediu o alcance dos objetivos esperados com a mudança, destacando-se: a) aspecto negativo relacionado à própria natureza da mudança, que se enquadra no campo de avaliação de desempenho, questão polêmica que levanta muitas discussões; b) contexto organizacional desfavorável, por estar inserida em uma organização policial, com forte cultura disciplinar e punitiva; c) processo de gestão de mudança mal conduzido, de acordo com modelo teórico para a implementação eficaz de mudanças nas organizações proposto por Kotter (1995, 1997).
