Ironies de l'assaig. Ors, Pla, Fuster: història intel·lectual de l'adhesió incompleta

Per a començar a reflexionar sobre el paper de la ironia en l"assaig, pot ser un bon punt de partida una de les sempre interessants reflexions sobre el gènere que Joan Fuster (1965: 9) tenia per costum regalar cada cop que en preparava un recull, rescatats de la calaixera o de l"hemeroteca: 'D"això que jo escric proses divagatòries de tímida especulació, oscil·lants entre la ironia i la bona fe , els experts solen dir-ne «assaigs».

Ultrafiltration of pulp mill bleaching effluents

Main objective of this research was to find suitable polymeric ultrafiltration membranes with high retentions, good capacities and low fouling tendencies for the E2- and EP-effluent ultrafiltration. Purpose was to treat alkaline bleaching effluents with ultrafiltration in a way that permeates of the filtrations could be recycled back to process and the consumption of fresh water in the pulp mill could be reduced significantly. In the theoretical part of this work the challenges set by the pulp and paper indus-try processes for membranes were examined. An overview of the membrane tech-nology in the pulp industry was also provided. In addition process conditions in the chemical pulp bleaching and properties of bleaching effluents were discussed in literature study. In experimental part the E2- and EP-stage bleaching effluents from Stora Enso Imatra kraft pulp mill were ultrafiltered with CR250- and CR200-filters. Suitable membranes for ultrafiltration were chosen after screening experiments. Concentra-tion experiment was made for the E2-effluent in order to estimate water saving potential. The E2-effluent was finally ultrafiltered in the pulp mill in order to test the feasibility of ultrafiltration in a real industrial environment. Good membrane for the EP-effluent ultrafiltration based on the EP-screening ex-periments was polyethersulfone membrane UP020 with cut-off value of 20 000 Da. Polysulfone membrane UFX05 with cut-off value of 5 000 Da was promising membrane for the ultrafiltration of the E2-effluent. Based on the concentration filtration of the E2-effluent with UFX05 membrane the water saving potential could be 2.2 m3/Adt for the industrial scale ultrafiltration process. Retention re-sults, such as average COD retention of 60 %, from the trial filtration at the pulp mill with UFX05 membrane were modest compared to the screening experiments, where average COD retention was 75 %. Therefore tighter ultrafiltration mem-branes should be tested for the ultrafiltration of the E2-effluent. The UP020 mem-brane seemed to be suitable for the ultrafiltration of the EP-effluent however con-centration and pilot scale ultrafiltration experiments are needed to verify this.

Jalometallikustannusten hallintatyökalu

Tämän työn tavoitteena on luoda malli tai työkalu Ecocat Oy:n jalometallihävikin kustan-nusten hallitsemiseen tuote- tai tuoteperhetasolla. Lisäksi osatavoitteena on nostaa esiin huomioita ja käytäntöjä hävikin hallinnan tueksi. Työn teoriaosuudessa käydään läpi prosesseihin liittyvää kirjallisuutta keskittyen proses-sien kuvaamiseen, määrittelyyn, kehittämiseen sekä vaihtelun vähentämisen perusteisiin. Lisäksi teoriaosassa on lyhyt Lean perusteiden sekä työkalujen kuvaus, jonka tarkoituk-sena on antaa pohjaa hävikin minimointityölle. Viimeinen teoriakappale keskittyy jalo-metalleihin raaka-aineina; niiden hankintaan, markkinoiden piirteisiin ja kustannusvaiku-tuksiin. Työn empiirisen osan johdantona toimii kappaleessa 4 oleva katalysaattorien ja niissä käytettävien jalometallien esittely. Kappaleissa 5 - 7 on työn empiirinen osuus, jossa luodaan tavoitteiden mukainen kustannustenhallintyökalu. Työn tuloksena syntyi viiden tutkimukseen valitun tuotteen avulla Excel-laskentatyökalu, jolla tiettyjen spesifikaatioiden mukaisten tuotteiden jalometallihävikin osuus tuotannon aikana voidaan laskea. Lisäksi työn tuloksissa, osatavoitteen mukaisesti, tarkastellaan muun muassa mittausprosesseihin sekä työn suoritukseen liittyviä kehityskohteita.

Successful IFRS standard change implementation process after the initial IFRS implementation

The main objective of the study was to form a strategic process model and project management tool to help IFRS change implementation projects in the future. These research results were designed based on the theoretical framework of Total Quality Management and leaning on the facts that were collected during the empirical case study of IAS 17 change. The us-age of the process oriented approach in IFRS standard change implementation after the initial IFRS implementation is rationalized with the following arguments: 1) well designed process tools lead to optimization of resources 2) With the help of process stages and related tasks it is easy to ensure the efficient way of working and managing the project as well as make sure to include all necessary stakeholders to the change process. This research is following the qualitative approach and the analysis is in describing format. The first part of the study is a literature review and the latter part has been conducted as a case study. The data has been col-lected in the case company with interviews and observation. The main findings are a process model for IFRS standard change process and a check-list formatted management tool for up-coming IFRS standard change projects. The process flow follows the main cornerstones in IASB’s standard setting process and the management tool has been divided to stages accordingly.

As the competitive situation becomes more intense, companies must strive for growth and the ability to renew themselves. Innovations and the development of services will take an important role in this situation. Involving users in the service design process creates additional value and a chance to stand out from the com-petition. The goal of the target company is to produce high-quality services with the customers' needs in mind. This is why the company wants to develop their services systematically and aims to collect information about the service needs of both their employees and customers, which can be used to develop new and ap-pealing service packages. The aim of the study is to find out what the target company's current service pro-cess is like and how it can be developed further. The work is a case study in which the development process of the new service is followed through according to the approach, process and tools of the service design. Information is collected through focused interviews and a client survey. Participant observation gave a good overview of how employees of the target company react to the development of services. The study also found that the ser-vice path enables the collecting of ideas concerning the practical planning and development of the service process.

Optimal processing chain for waste power plant

This study is done to examine waste power plant’s optimal processing chain and it is important to consider from several points of view on why one option is better than the other. This is to insure that the right decision is made. Incineration of waste has devel-oped to be one decent option for waste disposal. There are several legislation matters and technical options to consider when starting up a waste power plant. From the tech-niques pretreatment, burner and flue gas cleaning are the biggest ones to consider. The treatment of incineration residues is important since it can be very harmful for the envi-ronment. The actual energy production from waste is not highly efficient and there are several harmful compounds emitted. Recycling of waste before incineration is not very typical and there are not many recycling options for materials that cannot be easily re-cycled to same product. Life cycle assessment is a good option for studying the envi-ronmental effect of the system. It has four phases that are part of the iterative study process. In this study the case environment is a waste power plant. The modeling of the plant is done with GaBi 6 software and the scope is from gate-to-grave. There are three different scenarios, from which the first and second are compared to each other to reach conclusions. Zero scenario is part of the study to demonstrate situation without the power plant. The power plant in this study is recycling some materials in scenario one and in scenario two even more materials and utilize the bottom ash more ways than one. The model has the substitutive processes for the materials when they are not recycled in the plant. The global warming potential results show that scenario one is the best option. The variable costs that have been considered tell the same result. The conclusion is that the waste power plant should not recycle more and utilize bottom ash in a number of ways. The area is not ready for that kind of utilization and production from recycled materials.

Asiakassuhteen johtaminen ja kehityspotentiaalit arvoketjussa

Tämän tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli tehdä ymmärrettäväksi kvalitatiivisen tutkimus-menetelmää käyttäen tutkimuskohteena olevan case -yrityksen myynnin edustaji-en asiakassuhteen johtamisesta sekä sen hoitamisesta tapahtuvia toimia sekä niiden vaikutusta yrityksen arvoketjutoimintoihin ja prosesseihin sekä yrityksen asiakkaisiin. Tutkimuksella haluttiin löytää ne tekijät ja toimet, mitkä vaikuttavat prosessien toimimiseen sekä aiheuttavat suoraan tai välillisesti kustannuksia tai prosessihidasteita yritykselle. Lisäksi halutaan saada käsitys siitä osataanko nämä kohdat tällä hetkellä tiedostaa myynnin ja arvoketju toimesta. Tutkimuksen asiaa tarkastellaan case -yrityksen kolmen liiketoiminta-alueen kannalta. Tutkimuksen teoreettinen viitekehys rakentuu asiakassuhteen johtamisen, asia-kaspalvelun, asiakaspalvelun laadun sekä sisäisen asiakaspalvelun teorioiden ympärille. Lisäksi viitekehyksessä aihetta tarkastellaan kannattavuuden ja proses-sitehokkuuden näkökulmasta. Tutkimus empiirinen osuus toteutettiin puoli strukturoituina teemahaastatteluina valituille myynnin sekä arvoketjun edustajille. Tutkimusosiossa haluttiin saada selvyys sekä näkemys siihen, miten asiakassuhteen johtaminen tällä hetkellä tapahtuu case -yrityksessä sekä mitä tämä vaikuttaa yrityksen arvoketjun prosesseihin kun palveluprossien volyymimäärä on suuri. Tutkimustulokset vahvistavat sen, että yrityksen hyvällä ja sujuvalla yrityksen si-säisellä asiakaspalvelulla oli iso vaikutus yrityksen sisäisiin prosesseihin sekä asiakkaalle tuotettavaan asiakaspalvelun laatuun. Lisäksi toimiva ja sujuva sisäinen asiakaspalvelu vaikuttaa yritykseen myyntiin ja sitä kautta syntyvään tulokseen.
