Social Learning Capabilities in Broward’s Black Male Success Task Force: Informing Collective Impact Initiatives

Broward Schools is addressing an achievement gap for Black males with a collective impact initiative. Collective impact initiatives address complex social problems. The social learning capability of the initiative can be enhanced by applying Wenger’s (2009) social learning spaces, learning as citizenship, and social artists concepts.

The Governor's Transportation Task Force: Recommendations For Increasing Efficiency, Rough draft, 1995

The spirit behind the creation of the task force is one of good government. It rests upon the basic premise that taxpayers demand the best service possible for their tax dollars. Combine this demand for efficiency with Iowa's aging roadway system, and a projected increase in the state's vehicle miles traveled, the need to examine cost savings becomes apparent. Beyond the rational for good and efficient government, however, is a major concern for potential future reductions in Federal highway funds. Iowa is likely entering a period of needing an expanded transportation system with at best a static capacity for maintenance and construction.

The Task Force focused on the following questions: 1. What is the current high school experience? 2. How well is the current system preparing students for college and careers? 3. What are the current barriers or system roadblocks? The High School Task Force provided findings and recommendations following an examination and evaluation of the design of the high school experience in South Carolina.

This paper reviews the current status of the international fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism, highlighting the importance of its prevention for economic and financial stability in Latin America and the Caribbean. It synthesizes the recent history of international legislation and agreements with respect to the issues, and presents the framework of public and private sector actors engaged in combating these threats. It reviews Latin American and Caribbean countries’ compliance with the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) (40 + 9) Recommendations, and analyzes the region’s performance with respect to their third round Mutual Evaluation Reports.
