As fibras ópticas são utilizadas em diferentes áreas e nas mais variadas aplicações. Na Engenharia Civil começaram a ser utilizadas no monitoramento de estruturas como alternativa de substituição dos tradicionais sensores elétricos. Este trabalho tem como objetivo estudar a aplicação e viabilidade dos sensores a base de fibra óptica no monitoramento de grandes estruturas da engenharia civil. Para avaliação dos resultados, foram realizados três diferentes tipos de testes experimentais onde corpos-de-prova foram instrumentados com extensômetros elétricos e ópticos. O primeiro tipo de teste correspondeu a ensaios de tração simples em barras de aço com carregamento monotônico até o rompimento de barras de aço. No segundo tipo de teste foi estudada a automação de um medidor triortogonal de junta que é um instrumento tipicamente utilizado para a instrumentação de barragens de concreto. Finalmente o último tipo de testes foi constituído por ensaios de cilindros de concreto à compressão para a determinação do módulo de elasticidade. Com relação à utilização dos sensores ópticos, durante a realização dos testes surgiram muitos problemas relacionados com a unidade óptica de aquisição de dados sendo necessária a utilização de três diferentes modelos de unidade de aquisição para a conclusão dos testes. No que se refere à exatidão dos resultados, observou-se que os resultados apresentados pelos sensores ópticos foram compatíveis com os resultados dos sensores elétricos. Entretanto, quando os sensores ópticos foram solicitados por grandes deformações implicaram em perda de sinal devido à interrupção do fluxo de luz, inabilitando o sensor para leituras.

Electrical energy is present in the lives of all people and is extremely important that it be delivered to end users with plenty of quality, safety and low costs. The electric power substations are responsible for transmission and distribution of electricity generating sources to consumers, and with technological advances and the subsequent automation of same, the electricity began to be delivered with greater continuity and reliability. Protection systems in substations are largely responsible for making the electricity reaches the final consumer with quality, since their function is to prevent the spread of any type of failure occurred at any point of transmission to the load centers. These systems consist primarily by the current transformers and potential, by the protective relays and circuit breakers and switchgear. The processors send the necessary data to the relays and, if those detect any abnormality in the system, operate the opening command of the branch circuit breakers to isolate where the fault. Therefore, it is essential to better understand the operation of such equipment, as well as the overall system. This work aims to study the main substation equipment, current transformers and potential and, especially, protection relays, in order to obtain the advantages that automated systems can provide

The technologies are advancing at a pace so expressive that allow the increase of the power quality from generation until the distribution to end customers. This improvement has been made possible through the automation of the energy that follows to a better quality of the energy provided, a lower energy supply disruptions and a very short recovery time. The trend of today and the near future is the distributed energy generation. To keep the automated control of the chain, the presence of Smart Grids is needed and that will be the most efficient and economical way to manage the entire system. Within this theme, is going to be necessary analyze the electric cars that promise to promote a more sustainable transport because it doesn’t uses fossil fuels, and more healthy because it does not emit pollutants into the atmosphere. The popularization of this type of vehicle is estimated to happen in a few decades and the case study analyzing its influence on the demand of the electrical system is something that will be very important in the near future. The physical, psychological, sexual, moral and patrimonial violence affects women of different ages, social classes, ethnic and racial groups, levels of education and religion, all over Brazil. One of the obstacles in the strategies of prevention and facing violence against women, in public care services, focuses on the absence of an information system, automation of data and care flows. The existence of reliable data is essential for performing diagnoses, goals and conducting research on women in situations of violence who access the service agencies. In this sense, the goal of research is to present the experience of implementing a policy of data management called Woman System, in Ednalva Bezerra Women's Reference Center, which offers host/psychological and social care, guidance and legal referral for women that face any violence situation. As methodological paths, we adopt research in action. In our analyzes, we found that in this kind of public service, the use of the data system may improve the full and humanized care to women in situations of violence. Thus, the System Woman Care, still a developing phase, appears to improve the flow of relevant information within the institution, driving a process of knowledge, decision-making and intervention against gender violence.

This paper presents a proposal for the automation of the camera calibration process, locating and measuring image points in coded targets with sub-pixel precision. This automatic technique helps minimize localization errors, regardless of camera orientation and image scale. To develop this technique, several types of coded targets were analyzed and the ARUCO type was chosen due to its simplicity, ability to represent up to 1024 different targets and availability of source code implemented with the OpenCV library. ARUCO targets were generated and two calibration sheets were assembled to be used for the acquisition of images for camera calibration. The developed software can locate targets in the acquired images and it automatically extracts the coordinates of the four corners with sub-pixel accuracy. Experiments were conducted with real data showing that the targets are correctly identified unless excessive noise or fragmentation occurs mainly in the outer target square. The results with the calibration of a low cost camera showed that the process works and that the measurement accuracy of the corners achieves sub-pixel precision.

This paper presents the drafting process of a pedagogical project developed and implemented in the Electrical Engineering Course at Faculty of Engineering, Campus Guaratinguetá UNESP. Applying the project in this course resulted in "A" concept classification in the old National Examination Course, known as MEC General Test (Provão), for five consecutive times. The text presents pre-existing scenario which culminated with the preparation of this new project, the points that guided its construction, the deployment strategy adopted, changing paradigms implemented and results obtained. The text also emphasizes the reasons which led it to be adopted as a starting point for the development of educational projects which resulted in the deployment of two new courses: Electrical Engineering from the Universidade Estadual de Londrina – UEL, and Engineering course control and Automation of Experimental Campus Sorocaba – UNESP.

This work studies and develops a machine automation for tyre truing. It is discussed industry development, industrial processes automation, tyre-recycling process, advantages of tyre reuse for preservation of the environment and probable gains from the automation of part of the tyre-recycling process. In this text, it is detailed the work done to configure, program and optimize the truing process through automation components as CNC, PLC and drives. Tests and simulations are performed to determine the payback necessary period in productivity and profit gains
