La presente investigación muestra un acercamiento y estudio breve sobre la historia de la viola, evolución, importancia, características y géneros escritos para dicho instrumento. Este trabajo tiene además como objetivo realizar un análisis estructural de dos obras para viola. En el desarrollo de esta tesis se ha elegido partituras pertenecientes a dos períodos de la Historia de la Música: El Romántico (Sonata en Dm Mijaíl Glinka) y el Siglo XX y (Pasacaglia de Rebecca Clarke) puesto que tienen gran importancia por ser considerados como los periodos donde la viola toma mayor auge y relevancia. En particular, este análisis facilita la base y el sustento técnico-teórico necesario para el estudio y abordaje de las obras mencionadas. Además de lograr una proximidad a las exigencias planteadas por el compositor. Para la elaboración del proyecto se aplicaron métodos de la investigación científica del nivel teórico como: el analítico- sintético, inductivo- deductivo, el histórico lógico y del nivel empírico. La tesis cuenta con una introducción donde se presenta el diseño teórico y se explica la metodología utilizada; tres capítulos destinados al desarrollo de la investigación y un complemento donde se realiza una comparación con el enunciado de Pitágoras, conclusiones y recomendaciones. La comunidad científica que se ocupa de los problemas relacionados con el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje de la físicas, ha dedicado muchos esfuerzos en los ultimos años al perfeccionamiento del mismo, motivado en primera instancia, por las demandas de renovación que el impetuoso desarrollo científico-técnico le impone en la actualidad a la enseñanza de las ciencias. En los últimos años se ha producido un desarrollo vertiginoso en la fabricación de diodos láser que emiten en el espectro visible, esto ha permitido su utilización creciente en múltiples aplicaciones y hace factible su utilización en la enseñanza aprendizaje de la física universitaria y en particular de la holografía, por sus grandes ventajas frente a los láseres convencionales de gran costo y difícil manipulación. En el trabajo se describen la instalación experimental portátil diseñada para la obtención de hologramas en la escuela y en la casa con la utilización de diodos láser, la metodología de trabajo a seguir, los métodos de procesamiento utilizados para diferentes tipos de emulsiones holográficas y un análisis de los defectos que pueden presentar los hologramas producidos y la forma de detectarlos y erradicarlos

Measurements of molecular weights, soluble fractions and examination of NMR spectra of bisphenol-A polysulfone, after gamma irradiation in vacuum at 150 degrees C were used to elucidate the mechanism of crosslinking. Excellent agreement was obtained between G(S) and G(X) determined from measurements above and below the gel dose when a Y-linking mechanism was assumed, whereas poor agreement was obtained when an H-link mechanism was assumed, which is the mechanism normally believed to be responsible for crosslinking. New resonances were observed in the C-13 NMX spectra of the irradiated polymer which were consistent with the formation of Y-links involving phenylene units in the backbone chain. We prove that any subanalytic locally Lipschitz function has the Sard property. Such functions are typically nonsmooth and their lack of regularity necessitates the choice of some generalized notion of gradient and of critical point. In our framework these notions are defined in terms of the Clarke and of the convex-stable subdifferentials. The main result of this note asserts that for any subanalytic locally Lipschitz function the set of its Clarke critical values is locally finite. The proof relies on Pawlucki's extension of the Puiseuxlemma. In the last section we give an example of a continuous subanalytic function which is not constant on a segment of "broadly critical" points, that is, points for which we can find arbitrarily short convex combinations of gradients at nearby points.

African Americans are disproportionately affected by type 2 diabetes (T2DM) yet few studies have examined T2DM using genome-wide association approaches in this ethnicity. The aim of this study was to identify genes associated with T2DM in the African American population. We performed a Genome Wide Association Study (GWAS) using the Affymetrix 6.0 array in 965 African-American cases with T2DM and end-stage renal disease (T2DM-ESRD) and 1029 population-based controls. The most significant SNPs (n = 550 independent loci) were genotyped in a replication cohort and 122 SNPs (n = 98 independent loci) were further tested through genotyping three additional validation cohorts followed by meta-analysis in all five cohorts totaling 3,132 cases and 3,317 controls. Twelve SNPs had evidence of association in the GWAS (P<0.0071), were directionally consistent in the Replication cohort and were associated with T2DM in subjects without nephropathy (P<0.05). Meta-analysis in all cases and controls revealed a single SNP reaching genome-wide significance (P<2.5×10(-8)). SNP rs7560163 (P = 7.0×10(-9), OR (95% CI) = 0.75 (0.67-0.84)) is located intergenically between RND3 and RBM43. Four additional loci (rs7542900, rs4659485, rs2722769 and rs7107217) were associated with T2DM (P<0.05) and reached more nominal levels of significance (P<2.5×10(-5)) in the overall analysis and may represent novel loci that contribute to T2DM. We have identified novel T2DM-susceptibility variants in the African-American population. Notably, T2DM risk was associated with the major allele and implies an interesting genetic architecture in this population. These results suggest that multiple loci underlie T2DM susceptibility in the African-American population and that these loci are distinct from those identified in other ethnic populations.

OBJECTIVE: To study the impact of intimate partner violence (IPV) on women's physical and psychological health. DESIGN: Cross-sectional study. SETTING:Primary care centers in 3 Andalusian provinces. PATIENTS: A total of 425 women, aged 18 to 65 years, were recruited following the same randomisation process in 6 primary care centers. MEASUREMENTS: A self-administered structured questionnaire for this study was used to gather the information. As well as sociodemographic variables, the instrument included questions about IPV, physical health indicators (chronic disease and type, lifetime surgeries, days in bed), psychological health (psychological morbidity, use of tranquilizers, antidepressants, pain killers, alcohol and recreational drugs), self-perceived health and social support. RESULTS: Of 425 women, 31.5% ever experienced any type of partner violence. Women experiencing IPV were more likely to suffer a chronic disease. IPV was significantly associated with a number of adverse health outcomes, including spending more than 7 days in bed in the last three months (ORa=2.96; CI 95%, 1.00-8.76), psychological morbidity (ORa=2.68; CI 95%, 1.60-4.49) and worse self-perceived health (ORa=1.89; CI 95%, 1.04-3.43), after controlling for potential confounding variables. CONCLUSION: This study shows that ever experiencing IPV is associated with a worse psychological and self-perceived health. Physical injuries are not the only "evidence" of the presence of IPV. Primary health care professionals are in a privileged position to help women who are abused by their partners.

En aquesta recerca es presenta una biblioteca de programari lliure basada en l'heurística constructiva de Clarke & Wright combinada amb simulació Monte Carlo que permet, de manera simple, generar solucions al problema d'adreçament de vehicles. Aquesta metodologia construeix solucions competents en poc temps i sense necessitat d'ajustar o configurar paràmetres previs. La biblioteca pot integrar-se fàcilment en projectes que resolguin variants del VRP amb canvis mínims sobre el codi. Aquest es troba ben documentat i accessible de manera lliure a través de la xarxa. Els resultats computacionals indiquen que es resolen instàncies VRP en temps i costos significativament inferiors a altres propostes de la mateixa família.

En este trabajo analizamos los juegos de palabras en Alice´s Adventures in Wonderland y sus cuatro traducciones: dos al chino y dos al español. Averiguamos las diferencias lingüísticas y culturales, sobre todo el nivel de coincidencia de conocimiento entre el autor y distintos lectores. Elaboramos un catálogo de las traducciones al chino a fin de concretar la posición de la traducción de esta obra en chino. Contextualizamos las traducciones acerca de la situación de la lengua meta, la ideología social y la experiencia de los traductores. Después nos concentramos en analizar 22 fragmentos con juegos de palabras en el texto original y textos meta, categorizamos los juegos de palabras y las técnicas de traducción aplicadas y describimos el efecto de las traducciones de los juegos. En la conclusión relacionamos las técnicas traductoras, su efecto y el contexto socio-cultural con la intención de explicar las decisiones que toman los traductores.

PURPOSE: Local delivery of therapeutic molecules encapsulated within liposomes is a promising method to treat ocular inflammation. The purpose of the present study was to define the biodistribution of rhodamine-conjugated liposomes loaded with vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP), an immunosuppressive neuropeptide, following their intravitreal (IVT) injection in normal rats. METHODS: Healthy seven- to eight-week-old Lewis male rats were injected into the vitreous with empty rhodamine-conjugated liposomes (Rh-Lip) or with VIP-loaded Rh-Lip (VIP-Rh-Lip; 50 mM of lipids with an encapsulation efficiency of 3.0+/-0.4 mmol VIP/mol lipids). Twenty-four h after IVT injection, the eyes, the cervical, mesenteric, and inguinal lymph nodes (LN), and spleen were collected. The phenotype and distribution of cells internalizing Rh-Lip and VIP-Rh-Lip were studied. Determination of VIP expression in ocular tissues and lymphoid organs and interactions with T cells in cervical LN was performed on whole mounted tissues and frozen tissue sections by immunofluorescence and confocal microscopy. RESULTS: In the eye, 24 h following IVT injection, fluorescent liposomes (Rh-Lip and VIP-Rh-Lip) were detected mainly in the posterior segment of the eye (vitreous, inner layer of the retina) and to a lesser extent at the level of the iris root and ciliary body. Liposomes were internalized by activated retinal Müller glial cells, ocular tissue resident macrophages, and rare infiltrating activated macrophages. In addition, fluorescent liposomes were found in the episclera and conjunctiva where free VIP expression was also detected. In lymphoid organs, Rh-Lip and VIP-Rh-Lip were distributed almost exclusively in the cervical lymph nodes (LN) with only a few Rh-Lip-positive cells detected in the spleen and mesenteric LN and none in the inguinal LN. In the cervical LN, Rh-Lip were internalized by resident ED3-positive macrophages adjacent to CD4 and CD8-positive T lymphocytes. Some of these T lymphocytes in close contact with macrophages containing VIP-Rh-Lip expressed VIP. CONCLUSIONS: Liposomes are specifically internalized by retinal Müller glial cells and resident macrophages in the eye. A limited passage of fluorescent liposomes from the vitreous to the spleen via the conventional outflow pathway and the venous circulation was detected. The majority of fluorescent liposomes deposited in the conjunctiva following IVT injection reached the subcapsular sinus of the cervical LN via conjuntival lymphatics. In the cervical LN, Rh-Lip were internalized by resident subcapsular sinus macrophages adjacent to T lymphocytes. Detection of VIP in both macrophages and T cells in cervical LN suggests that IVT injection of VIP-Rh-Lip may increase ocular immune privilege by modulating the loco-regional immune environment. In conclusion, our observations suggest that IVT injection of VIP-loaded liposomes is a promising therapeutic strategy to dampen ocular inflammation by modulating macrophage and T cell activation mainly in the loco-regional immune system.

Comprende el resumen de varios trabajos de investigación de ballenas del Pacífico sureste, especialmente de la ballena cachalote Physeter catodon L., especie intensamente cazada e industrializada en las décadas de los años 1960 a 1980 en Chile y Perú. La investigación ballenera en esta zona empezó en 1958 con la preparación de biólogos en los dos países, quienes colectaron el material que luego fue analizado y dio las bases científicas para una caza conservacionista.
