欧州新興民主主義国における民族的寛容

新興民主主義国において，政治的寛容の対象となる最大の集団のひとつは民族的少数派に属する市民である。欧州でも新興民主主義国では先進民主主義国と異なり，民族的少数派市民の人口比は外国人人口比よりはるかに大きい。ところで民族的少数派市民は外国人に比べて，民族的多数派に認知されている。このことからすると，民族的少数派市民の人口比が大きければ，個人的接触を促す一方で，社会的脅威感を呼び起こしにくいため，寛容が高まると考えられる。本稿は欧州の新興民主主義16カ国についてのユーロバロメーターの個票データと国別マクロデータからなるデータセットを階層線形モデルで分析した。そして，外国人人口比が政治的寛容を弱めるのに対し，民族的少数派市民の人口比が政治的寛容を強めるとの結果を得た。

ESP in Spain: goals, achievements and prospects

This paper aims to describe the development of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) as specialised language study and research at tertiary level in Spain over the past twenty years. The year 1992 is chosen as a starting point because AELFE, the Association of Languages for Specific Purposes, was founded in Madrid at the time. As more members from other countries have joined in, this Association has served as an academic landmark for the development of ESP within the umbrella of applied linguistics. ESP has reflected the social changes, educational shifts, linguistic trends, and technological innovations involved in academic and professional contexts. The evolution of the specialised language practitioner’s scenarios and communicative situations has turned ESP into a lively and stimulating action, though not lacking in controversy, e.g., a general increase in the ESP teacher’s workload. Different lines of work and research have been followed from the inception of AELFE until the implementation of the Bologna agreement in our universities. The examination of such variables is conducted in the light of some quantitative and qualitative findings.

Inhibition of tumorigenicity of the teratoma PC cell line by transfection with antisense cDNA for PC cell-derived growth factor (PCDGF, epithelin/granulin precursor)

The PC cell line is a highly tumorigenic, insulin-independent, teratoma-derived cell line isolated from the nontumorigenic, insulin-dependent 1246 cell line. Studies of the PC cell growth properties have led to the purification of an 88-kDa secreted glycoprotein called PC cell-derived growth factor (PCDGF), which has been shown to stimulate the growth of PC cells as well as 3T3 fibroblasts. Sequencing of PCDGF cDNA demonstrated its identity to the precursor of a family of 6-kDa double-cysteine-rich polypeptides called epithelins or granulins (epithelin/granulin precursor). Since PCDGF was isolated from highly tumorigenic cells, its level of expression was examined in PC cells as well as in nontumorigenic and moderately tumorigenic cells from which PC cells were derived. Northern blot and Western blot analyses indicate that the levels of PCDGF mRNA and protein were very low in the nontumorigenic cells and increased in tumorigenic cell lines in a positive correlation with their tumorigenic properties. Experiments were performed to determine whether the autocrine production of PCDGF was involved in the tumorigenicity of PC cells. For this purpose, we examined the in vivo growth properties in syngeneic C3H mice of PC cells where PCDGF expression had been inhibited by transfection of antisense PCDGF cDNA. The results show that inhibition of PCDGF expression resulted in a dramatic inhibition of tumorigenicity of the transfected cells when compared with empty-vector control cells. These data demonstrate the importance in tumor formation of overexpression of the novel growth factor PCDGF.

Educación y transición democrática. Una mirada sobre intelectuales y política educativa

El siguiente trabajo propone indagar la relación entre Política Educativa e Intelectuales de la Educación durante el periodo denominado TransiciónDemocrática (1983-1989). Este momento particular tiene sus inquietudesy preocupacionestípicas de la época, las cuales se relacionan directamente con la idea de Democracia, de esta forma, todas las demandas por parte de la sociedad serán articuladas por este concepto e intentaran alejarse de la idea de Autoritarismo. En este marco las discusiones sobre educación no seram la excepción, y estarán cargadas de sentidos y significados típicos de ese momento. De esta forma,el trabajo pretendepor un lado generar un amplio estado dela cuestión donde se indagara términos claves como Transición y ConsolidaciónDemocrática, Campo, Intelectual etc. Por otro analizara los ?trabajos pioneros?, escritos en la época, los cuales van a hablar sobre la herencia de la dictadura en materia de Educación, y por ultimo indagara en la relación entre Intelectuales de la Educación y Estado, en donde veremos no solo los principales debates de la época, enmarcados sobre todo en el II Congreso Pedagógico Nacional (1984-1988), sino también las exigencias, los avances y retrocesos en la materia

Phosphane-free Suzuki-Miyaura coupling of aryl imidazolesulfonates with arylboronic acids and potassium aryltrifluoroborates under aqueous conditions

Aryl imidazole-1-sulfonates are efficiently cross-coupled with arylboronic acids and potassium aryltrifluoroborates using only 0.5 mol % of oxime palladacycles 1 under aqueous conditions at 110 °C. Under these simple phosphane-free reaction conditions a wide array of biaryl derivatives has been prepared in high yields. This methodology allows in situ phenol sulfonation and one-pot Suzuki arylation as well as the employment of microwave irradiation conditions.

Heterocyclic carbene–metal-catalyzed Csp2–Csp2 and Csp–Csp2 couplings using nonmetallic substrates

The use of carbene ligands for transition-metal complexes has been developed in the last decades, being of special interest those carbenes derived from a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic system. An interesting variety of carbene-metal complexes has been tested in the Mizoroki-Heck reaction. In comparison, few examples can be found for the Matsuda-Heck version of this coupling reaction. Additionally, the Sonogashira coupling has been also catalyzed with different carbene-metal catalysts.

(Table T1) Gas hydrate fabric and dipping angles of ODP Leg 204 sediments

The sediments of Hydrate Ridge/Cascadia margin contain extensive amounts of gas hydrate. A total of 57 sediment samples including gas hydrate were preserved in liquid nitrogen and have been imaged using computerized tomography to visualize hydrate distribution and shape. The analysis gives evidence that gas hydrate in vein and veinlet structures is the predominant shape in the deeper gas hydrate stability zone with dipping angles from 30° to 90°(vertical).

Analysis of radioactive manganiferous nodules from Tanokami, Japan

Characteristic black nodules have been retrieved in 1922 from the bed of the Kichijo River, that runs along the Tanakamiyama mountain in the Oni Province and ends into Lake Biwa in Japan. Their radiocativity has been studied along with that of crusts of similar nature found covering rock formations in the vicinity overlooking the stream. The high content in radium observed may be due to the high uranium content of the granite host rock typical of the Tanakamiyama formation.
