O tipo de exercício, a intensidade e a frequência são fatores importantes para produzir mudanças na velocidade de andar. O objetivo do estudo foi comparar os efeitos de diferentes tipos de exercício nos parâmetros cinemáticos do andar de idosas, considerando as características antropométricas, a capacidade funcional e o nível de atividade física. Participaram do estudo 56 idosas que foram agrupadas de acordo com o envolvimento, a mais de seis meses, na prática específica de uma atividade: dança (n = 10), musculação (n = 10), hidroginástica (n = 12) e caminhada (n = 11). Além disso, um grupo de idosas inativas (n = 13), sem envolvimento em atividade física regular por pelo menos dois meses, também participou do estudo. Foram mensurados o nível de atividade física (Questionário de Baecke), a capacidade funcional (Bateria da AAHPERD) e os parâmetros cinemáticos do andar (comprimento da passada e do passo, duração e velocidade da passada, cadência e duração das fases de suporte simples, balanço e duplo suporte). Os resultados revelaram que o nível de atividade física do grupo Controle foi diferente dos demais grupos que praticam atividades físicas. em relação à capacidade funcional, apenas o componente força apresentou diferenças entre os grupos, indicando que o grupo Controle difere do grupo musculação. Quanto às variáveis do andar, o grupo Controle foi estatisticamente diferente apenas do grupo dança, tanto no comprimento do passo como no comprimento da passada. Pode-se concluir que a capacidade funcional e os parâmetros do andar dos idosos ativos e sedentários apresentam poucas diferenças

As atividades físicas praticadas pelos bailarinos predispõem-nos à ocorrência de inúmeros agravos. A busca por informações sobre as lesões dessa modalidade permitiu constatar, em nosso meio, escassez de investigações sobre o assunto. Nesse sentido, o objetivo desta pesquisa foi apontar as principais lesões da dança, visando descrever sua distribuição e caracterização a partir de nossa realidade, bem como sugerir medidas preventivas para os agravos de maior ocorrência. Para tanto, realizou-se estudo com 122 bailarinas na faixa etária de 8 a 30 anos, alocadas nas academias de dança da cidade de Bauru. em sua maioria, eram membros do corpo de baile (42%) ou estudantes (45%), com 3 a 11 anos de prática (73%), alunas de balé clássico (84%) e jazz (66%) e participavam de 4 a 8 aulas semanais (70%), com duração de 60 a 120 minutos (89%). O procedimento para coleta de dados foi o inquérito de morbidade referida para obtenção de informações sobre os agravos ocorridos no período de um ano. A apresentação dos resultados deu-se sob a forma de estatística descritiva, com distribuições de freqüência absoluta, relativa, corrigida e razão de lesões. em termos analíticos foram utilizados testes não paramétricos de Wilcoxon, Spearman e Kruskal-Wallis, para p < 0,05. Os resultados apontaram 53,27% das respondentes com freqüências entre 1 e 6 lesões agudas, que aumentam com a idade, concentram-se no plano tegumentar (79,46%) e estão associadas a variáveis como a idade em que começou a dançar e com o uso de sapatilha de ponta; 97,48% são agravos de membros inferiores, com predominância de calos (47,03%) e bolhas (28,56%) nos pés. O balé clássico foi o estilo responsável pela maior parte das lesões; as mais experientes e as estudantes foram as mais afetadas e o uso da sapatilha de ponta implicou risco elevado para ocorrência dos agravos observados nos pés.
Comparação do risco de queda em idosos sedentários e ativos por meio da escala de equilíbrio de Berg

O envelhecimento da população é um fenômeno mundial, do qual o Brasil apresenta um dos mais agudos processos. A prática regular de exercícios por idosos pode melhorar a capacidade física, proporcionar ganho de auto-estima e confiança, contribuindo para diminuição do risco de quedas, comuns em idosos. Este estudo visou comparar o risco de quedas entre idosos sedentários e ativos, verificando como a prática de exercício físico se reflete no desempenho dos sujeitos na escala de Berg. Foram avaliados por esse instrumento 70 idosos, divididos em 2 grupos: sedentários (n=35) e ativos (n=35). Os escores médios na escala de Berg dos grupos sedentário e ativo foram 47,7±5,6 pontos e 53,6±3,7, respectivamente (p<0,0001). A análise dos escores evidenciou que o grupo sedentário apresentou 15,6 vezes mais risco de quedas do que o grupo ativo (p=0,002). O desempenho na escala de Berg foi pior no grupo sedentário do que no ativo, sugerindo que a prática regular de atividades físicas pode interferir nesse desempenho e que os sujeitos ativos têm menor risco de queda.

O tema consciência corporal ocupa um espaço restrito na área da Educação. Normalmente o associamos às atividades físicas sem saber bem o seu significado em um sentido mais amplo. Propomos, a partir deste ensaio, a reflexão sobre a importância do desenvolvimento da consciência corporal, tanto no nível existencial, quanto no nível da aprendizagem em si. Pretendemos também demonstrar o papel do professor neste processo e a importância de ele trabalhar a própria consciência. corporal.

In Brazil, the practice of Soccer is encouraged very early. It is common remark that parents enroll their sons into soccer schools, promoting the involvement of these children in formal practice. However, there are not many studies that assess the effects of this practice in the physical capacities of children. Thus, the question that guides this study is: children who practice soccer systematically present better development of physical, especially agility, coordination and speed? The objective of this study was to compare the performance in velocity tests, agility and coordination of boys of 10 and 11 years, category dentinho or Sub-11, practitioners of soccer in schools and non practicing. The study included male children, born in 1997 and 1998, formed two groups: group of practitioners of soccer and group of non practicing. To belong to the group of practitioners, the child was regularly engaged for at least 1 year, with 1 hour daily and 2 to 3 times per week. The participants of the group of non practicing were not involved in regular practice of soccer and were paired in weight and stature with participants of the group of practitioners of soccer. Each participant was individually assessed in neutral environment and without foreign interference. For the assessment of the agility, was utilized the (shuttle run) test. The race test 30 meters stopped was employed for the assessment of the speed. The test of fiddling between the cones was employed to measure the coordination. The time spent to perform 1 attempt to each test was used for the comparison between groups. These data were treated, initially, by descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation) and, subsequently, were compared by means of Anova, for independent samples. Physical activity is associated with lower cardiovascular disease risk factors, being cardiorespiratory fitness a major component of physical activity health related. Body fatness and sarcopenia are related to sedentary lifestyle leading to proinflammatory stress and lower cadiorespiratory capacity. This study aimed correlates C-reactive protein with cardiorespiratory fitness, analyzing the influences of anthropometrics variables and metabolic syndrome (MS) presence. the cross-sectional retrospective study included baseline data of 194 adults (62 male and 132 female), 53,74 ± 8,77 years, clinically and ethically selected for a lifestyle modification program. Total cholesterol (TC) and cholesterol lipoprotein fractions, triglycerides (TG) and glucose was dosed by dry chemistry (Vitros® system, Johnson & Johnson). Blood leukocytes was quantified by automatic cell counter (Coulter ABX®, Horiba). LDL-cholesterol was obtained by Friedwald formula. Serum ultrasensitive C-reactive protein (US-CRP) was accessed by the immunochemoluminescence method (Immulite 2000®, DPC Medlab). Weight, height, body mass index (BMI) and waist circumference (WC) were measured. Muscular mass and fat mass were obtained by bioelectrical impedance analysis (impedancemeter Quantum BIA-101Q®, Clinton Township). Arterial blood pressure was checked by auscultatory method and cardiorespiratory fitness was determined by ergoespirometric test (Balke protocol). The metabolic syndrome was diagnosed according NCEP – ATP III (2001), following recommendations of American Diabetes Association (2004). Pearson’s correlation crude and adjusted for confounders variables with p<0,05. The prevalence of MS was 30.4%. The objective of this study was to investigate the influence of previous active static stretch on the isometric peak torque (PT) and rate of force development (RFD) measured from different time intervals from the beginning of muscle contraction. Participated of this study 15 male individuals, apparently healthy, with ages between 18 and 25 years, without regular physical activity practice. The individuals were submitted in different days to the following tests: 1) Familiarization session to the isokinetic dynamometer; 2) Two maximal isometric concentric contractions for knee extensors in isokinetic dynamometer to determine PT and RFD (Control), and; 3) Two active static stretching exercises for the dominant leg extensors (10 x 30 s for each exercise, with 20 s of rest). After the stretching, the isokinetic test was repeated (Post-Stretching). The conditions 2 and 3 were performed in random order. The RFD was considered as the mean slope of the moment-time curve at time intervals of 0-30, 0-50 and 0-100ms relative to the beginning of muscle contraction. It was verified significant reduction for both maximal RFD and PT after the stretching (p < 0.05). At intervals of 0- 30ms, 0-50ms and 0-100ms, the RFD at the conditions with stretching was similar to the RFD without stretching (p > 0.05). At intervals of 0-150ms and 0-200ms, the RFD obtained at the contraction without stretching was significantly higher that that obtained at the contraction with stretching (p < 0.05). It can be concluded that the static stretching, performed with duration of 600 s diminish isometric PT, maximal RFD and RFD measured at late phase (> 100 ms) of muscle contraction.

The practice of regular physical activity has been considered a protective factor against the degenerative processes of the body, acting as a promoter of health, especially for risk groups such as obese and resistant groups exercise adherence as among the intellectually disabled (ID) . This study involved the administration of a training protocol and the physical parameters of longitudinal health in a subject about 43 years, intellectually deficient, hypertensive, obese and with a strong predisposition to develop diabetes and heart disease. The main objective of long-term program was to reduce body weight and normalize blood pressure (BP) after the student's physical activity and preferentially interfere with BP values at rest (ie before the daily schedule). The other objective was to improve general physical fitness. The protocol involved four meetings per week lasting one hour, in addition to participation in the program PROEFA (twice a week with sessions of one hour each), totaling 57 sessions spread over five months. The evaluation protocol included in each session the following tests: blood pressure measurements and heart rate, and amount of physical activity recorded via pedometer. Tests applied before and after the training included: anthropometric assessment, agility test, flexibility test, test drive through vertical and horizontal jumps and endurance to the test bench. The mass (kg) and BMI corresponded to the initial values of 127.7 kg and 42.05 kg m-2, and 5 months after 113.2 kg and 37.48 kg m-2, respectively. The waist-hip ratio was close to 1 after the intervention and this value corresponded to 0.98. For the test of agility (shuttle run) was not found improvement in performance. The objective of this study was to analyze the influence of previous exercise on the determination of critical power (CP). Seven apparently healthy nontrained males, of 18 to 25 years, participated of this study. The subjects were submitted, in different days to the following protocols in a cyclergometer: 1) one progressive test until voluntary exhaustion for the determination of lactate threshold (LL), maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) and its corresponding intensity (IVO2max); 2) six constant workload tests at 95,100 and 110% IVO2max until exhaustion with and without a previous exercise at 70% , in random order. The exhaustion times (tlim) at 95, 100 and 110% IVO2max were adjusted forme thress models of two parameters to estimate CP and anaerobic work capacity (AWC) [P=CTAn/tlim)+CP; tlim = CTAn/(P-PC); P=PC.tlim+ CTAn]. The model with the lowest standard error was considered for the estimation of CP. The tlim at 95% IVO2max was similar without (501 ± 140 s) and with previous exercise (473 ± 99 s). However, the tlim at 100% (381 ± 103 s and 334 ± 101 s) and 110% IVO2max (267 ± 163 s and 227 ± 68 s) was significantly longer with previous exercise. There was no significant difference in CP and AWCat conditions without (200 ± 27 W and 23 ± 11 kJ, respectively) and with previous exercise (212 ± 30 W and 18 ± 8 kJ, respectively). It can be concluded that the parameters of the relationship between power and time were not modified by the previous severe exercise

The aim of this study was to analyze the influence of prior exercise on different intensity distribution strategies (pacing). The study included five male individuals, apparently healthy, aged between 18 and 25 years, and without regular practice of physical activities. The subjects were tested on different days following the protocols on a cycle ergometer: 1) a progressive ramp test, 2) three constant load tests in the intensities of 85%, 90% and 95% IVO2max to exhaustion, and 3) six tests with and without holding a prior exercise intensity of 70% with different strategies for Even-intensity pace, ES (401 ± 70 W), which consists of an exercise at a pace and / or constant intensity from beginning to end; where intensity is initially increased to 10% less than the ES progressively increase to reach 10% above the intensity of ES, and; Fast-start; FS, where there is a reversal in the way of distributing intensity, ie the initial intensity is 10% higher than the value of ES decreased progressively to 10% below that ES. All these tests were performed in random order. The tlim with previous exercise was significantly shorter than without previous exercise at FS condition (p < 0.05). The VO2final obtained at ES condition was similar with (3243 ± 599 ml.min-1) and without (3252 ± 384 ml.min-1) previous aerobic exercise (p > 0.05). However, the VO2final obtained at FS condition was higher with (3291 ± 218 ml.min-1) than without (3097 ± 207 ml.min-1) previous aerobic exercise (p < 0.05). The heart rate was higher at ES condition with than without previous aerobic exercise (p < 0.05). There was no significant difference in this variable for FS condition with and without previous aerobic exercise (p > 0.05). It can be concluded that the results the previous exercise (70%) achieved lasting 6 minutes followed by 6 minutes of recovery appears to influence / commit ting the conditions during the pacing for this population

The aim of this study was to analyze the effects of unilateral isokinetic strength training at high speed (180°.s-1) of the dominant leg on the rate of force development (RFD) of the contralateral limb. The study included 18 male individuals, apparently healthy, with an average of 23 years, and without regular practice of physical activities. The subjects were divided randomly into two groups: control group (GC) and isokinetic group (GISOC). Assessments were made of the values of peak isometric torque (PT isom) and RFD of both lower limbs in the pre-training. So, the GISOC underwent an isokinetic strength training with high speed (180°.s-1) for 6 weeks, with the dominant leg only and then reassessed. It was found that there was no significant improvement in value of PT isom (p> 0.05), and the RFD for the dominant limb had a significant improvement (p< 0.05) compared to the pre-training and that there was no transfer of values to the contralateral side (p> 0.05). It can be concluded that the isokinetic training at high speed was not enough for significant cross education

Atualmente, a sociedade vive em uma época na qual o consumismo é exacerbado e isso desencadeia diversas conseqüências negativas para o meio ambiente. No ambiente escolar, existem vários objetivos a serem alcançados, dentre estes é preciso dar uma atenção especial à formação de valores dos alunos, auxiliando e ampliando o conhecimento e vivificando os que forem trazidos do ambiente familiar. Sendo assim o objetivo deste trabalho é analisar a utilização das Atividades Físicas de Aventura na Natureza nas escolas do município de Rio Claro, na visão dos profissionais de Educação Física. Este estudo é de natureza qualitativa e consiste na aplicação de um questionário em uma amostra aleatória composta por 20 sujeitos que possuíam graduação em Licenciatura em Educação Física e atuavam, nas redes públicas e privadas, nessa área. Os dados provenientes da aplicação dos instrumentos propostos foram analisados descritivamente, por meio da utilização da Técnica de Análise de Conteúdo Temático. Foi possível verificar que existe a vontade dos professores em aplicar esse tema e o reconhecimento dos mesmos sobre a importância das AFAN para seus alunos. Porém um obstáculo encontrado por eles está na falta de preparação para poder trabalhar com estas atividades. É interessante notar que eles atribuem esta falta à formação acadêmica dos professores, na qual esse tema não vem sendo abordado como deveria. Há esperança que de este estudo tenha na comprovação de que as AFAN são um tema viável dentro do ambiente escolar, principalmente no que se diz respeito aos benefícios para os alunos
