Investiga-se a equação de Schrödinger unidimensional com uma classe de potenciais V(|x|) que se anulam no infinito e apresentam singularidade dominante na origem na forma α/|x|β(0 < β < 2). A hermiticidade dos operadores associados com quantidades físicas observáveis é usada para determinar as condições de contorno apropriadas. Dupla degenerescência e exclusão de soluções simétricas, consoante o valor de β, são discutidas. Soluções explícitas para o átomo de hidrogênio e o potencial de Kratzer são apresentadas.

We extend the Miles mechanism of wind-wave generation to finite depth. A beta-Miles linear growth rate depending on the depth and wind velocity is derived and allows the study of linear growth rates of surface waves from weak to moderate winds in finite depth h. The evolution of beta is plotted, for several values of the dispersion parameter kh with k the wave number. For constant depths we find that no matter what the values of wind velocities are, at small enough wave age the beta-Miles linear growth rates are in the known deep-water limit. However winds of moderate intensities prevent the waves from growing beyond a critical wave age, which is also constrained by the water depth and is less than the wave age limit of deep water. Depending on wave age and wind velocity, the Jeffreys and Miles mechanisms are compared to determine which of them dominates. A wind-forced nonlinear Schrodinger equation is derived and the Akhmediev, Peregrine and Kuznetsov-Ma breather solutions for weak wind inputs in finite depth h are obtained.

We study the effects of management of the PT-symmetric part of the potential within the setting of Schrodinger dimer and trimer oligomer systems. This is done by rapidly modulating in time the gain/loss profile. This gives rise to a number of interesting properties of the system, which are explored at the level of an averaged equation approach. Remarkably, this rapid modulation provides for a controllable expansion of the region of exact PT-symmetry, depending on the strength and frequency of the imposed modulation. The resulting averaged models are analysed theoretically and their exact stationary solutions are translated into time-periodic solutions through the averaging reduction. These are, in turn, compared with the exact periodic solutions of the full non-autonomous PT-symmetry managed problem and very good agreement is found between the two.

The Fokker-Planck equation is studied through its relation to a Schrodinger-type equation. The advantage of this combination is that we can construct the probability distribution of the Fokker-Planck equation by using well-known solutions of the Schrodinger equation. By making use of such a combination, we present the solution of the Fokker-Planck equation for a bistable potential related to a double oscillator. Thus, we can observe the temporal evolution of the system describing its dynamic properties such as the time tau to overcome the barrier. By calculating the rates k = 1/tau as a function of the inverse scaled temperature 1/D, where D is the diffusion coefficient, we compare the aspect of the curve k x 1/D, with the ones obtained from other studies related to four different kinds of activated process. We notice that there are similarities in some ranges of the scaled temperatures, where the different processes follow the Arrhenius behavior. We propose that the type of bistable potential used in this study may be used, qualitatively, as a simple model, whose rates share common features with the rates of some single rate-limited thermally activated processes. We present a succinct review of the canonical formalism of classical mechanics, followed by a brief review of the main representations of quantum mechanics. We emphasize the formal similarities between the corresponding equations. We notice that these similarities contributed to the formulation of quantum mechanics. Of course, the driving force behind the search of any new physics is based on experimental evidence

A new double channel field-effect structure based on delta-doping technology is proposed Resonant tunneling between the channels is employed to control the transport along the interface plane. A realistic simulation is performed for several temperatures. We solve the Schrodinger and Poisson equations self-consistently and have found that a large peak-to-valley ratio in the current-voltage characteristic occurs at the whole range of temperature investigated this effect indicates the potential application of this phenomenon for switching devices, where the transversal conductivity can be controlled due to the coupling between states belonging to different channels.
