And this new alignment brings context and typology with the business public relations as an entrepreneur and manager of a communications agency. This new type of business, startups, with accelerated growth characteristics and high-risk investments, and alternative becomes simultaneously an opportunity to undertake innovative projects up and turn into a business. In this sense, the work part of the mix of innovation and diffusion of new ideas, with the capacity of Public Relations professional to adapt and work with many different sectors. Considering this context, the study seeks, finds that public relations professionals become essential for mediating the process of scenario analysis for the deployment of startups, and can be very useful in the case of managers and initiators the agency itself as a startup company offering a strategic advantage by combining management and communication

In the present work the thermal characteristics of gels and xerogels of Silica/organic hybrids derived from different concentrations of GPTS-TEOS were investigated by thermal analysis (TG, DTA, and DSC). The preparation of gels of the Silica/organic hybrid matrix was held through the sol-gel process, consisting by the hydrolysis of alkoxides GPTS and TEOS in proportion (1:1) and (1:2) that was promoted in acidic conditions under reflux and stirring at 80oC/2h, producing the matrix in the colloidal state (sol). Gels were prepared by addition of NH4OH to the sol, promoting gelation of sol in sealed plastics containers. Part of the gels samples was analyzed by TG, DTS and DSC techniques in order to characterize water loss and degradation of the polymeric “epoxy” groups present in the structure of the silica derived from the GPTS alkoxide. Another set of samples was dried at 80oC/48h to obtain xerogels (dried gels) and analyzed by the same techniques. We obtained the characteristics temperatures of the matrix by the techniques DTA, DSC and TG, under measurements of thermal analysis until 800oC and 600oC in case of DSC. By thermal analysis (TG, DTA, and DSC) the main endothermic events (loss of water, melting, pyrolysis) and exothermic events (burning of the polymer) of the GPTS-TEOS matrix were determined

The kinetic of mullite crystallization from sol–gel method, with different water content, was investigated under non-isothermal conditions using DTA. The sols were obtained from Al(NO3)3.9H2O (ANN) and Si(OC2H5)4 (TEOS) mixtures by varying the water–alcohol content of the system. The crystalline phase changes were verified by X-ray diffraction (XRD). For a sample prepared using ethanol-based alkoxide solution (M0), only Al-poor mullite (p-mullite) crystallizes at 1000 °C; for the one synthesized with low water concentration (M6) Al-rich mullite (r-mullite) and spinel crystallize together; and for a sample prepared using a water-based alkoxide solution only spinel is formed. Thus, the variation of water contents during the synthesis caused great variations in the course of mullitization process. The average value of the apparent activation energy determined for p-mullite, r-mullite and spinel phase crystallization were found to be E = (899 ± 61) kJ mol−1, E = (1015 ± 272) kJ mol−1 and E = (980 ± 196) kJ mol−1, respectively. These results showed that sample M(0) was a monophasic gel, where aluminum and silicon atoms are mixed at a molecular level while sample M(100) was a diphasic gel, where silicon and aluminum atoms are distributed in a nanometric level. The fast reaction between TEOS and water molecules is responsible for this great difference in the sample's homogeneity. The kinetic model of the crystallization process was determined using Malek's procedure. It was established that the crystallization of p-mullite, r-mullite and spinel phase can be described by Šesták–Berggren autocatalytic model.

The photopolimerization it is be widely used nowadays in different fields as materials, medicine and dentistry. To occur that synthesis is utilized dimethacrylates monomers and photoinitiators, the photoinitiator system more usual is camphorquinone/tertiary amine (ethyl-p-dimethylamino benzoate). However is knowledge that tertiary amines are toxics, so the aim of this work is replace toxic amine compounds to non-toxic compounds as glycerol and inositol. Therefore was used the FTIR technic to calculate the monomers conversion degree as well as Thermogravimetric Analysis-simultaneous differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA) and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) to evaluate thermal stability, combustion rate, degradation steps, oxidation and volatilization of all samples. The study shown no significant difference about thermal behavior of all polymers, the initiators system for efficient and more fastness was camphorquinone /tertiary amine system followed by ca mph o r quinone/glycerol system

Ground state interactions and excited states and transients formed after photolysis and photosensitization of 2-ethylaminodiphenylborinate (2APB) were studied by various techniques. The UV spectrum shows a large absorption band at 235 nm (epsilon = 14,500 M-1 cm(-1)) with a shoulder at 260 nm. The fluorescence spectra show increasing emission intensity with maximum at 300 nm, which shifts to the red up to 10(-3) M concentrations. At higher concentrations, the emission intensity decreases, probably due to the formation of aggregates. UV excitation in deareated solutions shows the formation of two transients at 300 and 360 nm. The latter has a lifetime of 5.7 mu s in ethanol and is totally quenched in the presence of oxygen and assigned to the triplet state of 2APB. The 300 nm peak is not affected by oxygen, has a lifetime in the order of milliseconds, and corresponds to a boron-centered radical species originated from the singlet state. A boron radical can also be obtained by electron transfer from triplet Safranine to the borinate (k(q) = 9.7 x 10(7) M-1 s(-1)) forming the semioxidized form of the dye. EPR experiments using DMPO show that dye-sensitized and direct UV-photolysis of 2ABP renders initially arylboron-centered radicals. (C) 2012 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is the most abundant cannabinoid in Cannabis sativa that has no psychoactive properties. CBD has been approved to treat inflammation, pain and spasticity associated with multiple sclerosis (MS), of which demyelination and oligodendrocyte loss are hallmarks. Thus, we investigated the protective effects of CBD against the damage to oligodendrocyte progenitor cells (OPCs) mediated by the immune system. Doses of 1 mu M CBD protect OPCs from oxidative stress by decreasing the production of reactive oxygen species. CBD also protects OPCs from apoptosis induced by LPS/IFN gamma through the decrease of caspase 3 induction via mechanisms that do not involve CB1, CB2, TRPV1 or PPAR gamma receptors. Tunicamycin-induced OPC death was attenuated by CBD, suggesting a role of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress in the mode of action of CBD. This protection against ER stress-induced apoptosis was associated with reduced phosphorylation of eiF2 alpha, one of the initiators of the ER stress pathway. Indeed, CBD diminished the phosphorylation of PKR and eiF2 alpha induced by LPS/IFN gamma. The pro-survival effects of CBD in OPCs were accompanied by decreases in the expression of ER apoptotic effectors (CHOP, Bax and caspase 12), and increased expression of the anti-apoptotic Bcl-2. These findings suggest that attenuation of the ER stress pathway is involved in the 'oligoprotective' effects of CBD during inflammation. Copolymers of norbornene (NBE) with norbomadiene (NBD) were obtained via ROMP with [RuCl2(PPh3)(2)(L)] type complexes as initiators (1 for L = piperidine and 2 for L = 3,5-Me(2)piperidine). The reactions were performed using a fixed quantity of NBE (5000 equivalents/[Ru]) for different concentrations of NBD (500, 1000, 1500 and 2000 equivalents/ [Ru]) in CHCl3, initiated with ethyl diazoacetate at room temperature. The presence of NBD in the NBE chains was characterized by H-1 and C-13 NMR. Whereas the copolymer microstructure was influenced neither by the NBD quantity nor by the initiator type, the N-n and PDI values were improved when increasing the NBD quantity in the medium. When raising the NBD amount, DMA results indicated increased cross-linking with increasing T-g and E ' storage modulus, as well as the fact that SEM micrographs indicated decreased pore sizes in the porous isolated copolymers. Transparent nanostructure ZnO:CeO2 and ZnO thin films to use as solar protector were prepared by non-alkoxide sol-gel process and deposited on boronsilicate glass substrate by dip-coating technique and then heated at 300-500 degrees C. The films were characterized structurally, morphologically and optically by X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM), field emission gun-scanning electron microscopy (FEG-SEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and UV-Vis transmittance spectroscopy. The coatings presented high transparency in the visible region and excellent absorption in the UV. The band gap of the deposited films was estimated between 3.10 and 3.18 eV. Absorption of the films in the UV was increased by presence of cerium. The results suggest that the materials are promising candidates to use as coating solar protective. (C) 2012 Elsevier B.V. Nanopartikel durch Strukturfixierung mizellarer Assoziate aus amphiphilen, endgruppenfunktionalisierten Diblockcopolymeren Zwei unterschiedliche Diblockcopolymersysteme mit Molmassen unterhalb von Mw = 10 000 g/mol wurden über anionische Polymerisation synthetisiert. Ein hetero-telecheles a,w-Poly(dimethylsiloxan)-b-Poly(ethylenoxid) (PDMS-PEO) Diblockcopolymer wurde mit einer Methacrylatendgruppe am PDMS und entweder einer Benzyl-, Hydroxy- oder Carboxylatendgruppe am PEO funktionalisiert. Ein Poly(butadien)-b-Poly(ethylenoxid) (PB-PEO) Diblockcopolymer wurde am PEO ebenfalls entweder mit einer Benzyl-, Hydroxy- oder Carboxylatendgruppe funktionalisiert. In selektiven Lösungsmitteln wie Wasser oder Methanol bilden beide Diblockcopolymersysteme supramolekulare Strukturen mit sphärischer, zylindrischer oder toroider Geometrie aus, die mit statischer und dynamischer Lichtstreuung in Lösung und mit Rasterkraftmikroskopie (AFM) und Transmissionselektronenmikroskopie (TEM) auf der Oberfläche untersucht wurden. Durch Zusatz eines Vernetzers und Initiators wurden die selbstassoziierenden Mizellen des PDMS-PEO Diblockcopolymers permanent durch radikalische Polymerisation mit UV-Licht fixiert. Mizellen des PB-PEO Diblockcopolymers wurden über Bestrahlung mit gamma-Strahlen permanent fixiert. Die Untersuchung der resultierenden Nanopartikel beider Diblockcopolymersysteme mit AFM und TEM zeigte, daß diese sogar in nicht selektiven Lösungsmitteln wie Tetrahydrofuran formstabil bleiben.

Liquid Crystal Polymer Brushes and their Application as Alignment Layers in Liquid Crystal Cells Polymer brushes with liquid crystalline (LC) side chains were synthesized on planar glass substrates and their nematic textures were investigated. The LC polymers consist of an acrylate or a methacrylate main chain and a phenyl benzoate group as the mesogenic unit which is connected to the main chain via a flexible alkyl spacer composed of six CH2 units. The preparation of the LC polymer brushes was carried out according to the “grafting from” technique: polymerization is carried out from azo-initiators that have been previously self-assembled on the substrate. LC polymer brushes with a thickness from a few nm to 230 nm were synthesized by varying the monomer concentration and the polymerization time. The LC polymer brushes were thick enough to allow for direct observation of the nematic textures with a polarizing microscope. The LC polymer brushes grown on untreated glass substrates exhibited irregular textures (“polydomains”). The domain size is in the range of some micrometers and depends only weakly on the brush thickness. The investigations on the texture-temperature relationship of the LC brushes revealed that the brushes exhibit a surface memory effect, that is, the identical texture reappears after the LC brush sample has experienced a thermal isotropization or a solvent treatment, at which the nematic LC state has been completely destroyed. The surface memory effect is attributed to a strong anchoring of the orientation of the mesogenic units to heterogeneities at the substrate surface. The exact nature of the surface heterogeneities is unknown. The effect was observed for the LC brushes swollen with low molecular weight nematic molecules, as well. Rubbing the glass substrate with a piece of velvet cloth prior to the surface modification with the initiator and the brush growth gives rise to the formation of homogenous alignment of the mesogenic units in the LC polymer side chains. Monodomain textures were obtained for these LC brushes. The mechanism for the homogeneous alignment is based on the transfer of Nylon fibers during the rubbing process. A surfactant was mixed with the azo-initiator in modifying rubbed substrates for subsequent brush generation. Such brushes exhibited biaxial optical properties. Hybrid LC cells made from a substrate modified with biaxial brushes and a rubbed glass substrate show an orientation with a tilt angle of a = –15.6 . This work shows that LC brushes grown on rubbed surfaces fulfill the important criteria for alignment layers: the formation of macroscopic monodomains. First results indicate that by diluting the brush with molecules which are also covalently bound to the surface but induce a different orientation, a system is obtained in which the two conflicting alignment mechanisms can be used to generate a tilted alignment. In order to allow for an application of the alignment layers into a potential product, subsequent work should focus on the questions how easy and in which range the tilt angle can be controlled.

Ziel dieser Arbeit war es hydrophile Lipopolymere darzustellen, mit denen es möglich sein sollte polymerunterstützte Lipiddoppelschichten auf festen Substratoberflächen zu fixieren. Die Polymere sollten einen Oberflächenanker, eine lipophile Gruppe und ein hydrophiles Polymerrückgrat enthalten. Hierzu wurden Alpha,Omega-funktionalisierte Polymere ausgehend von lipophilen Initiatoren dargestellt. Ausgehend von hydrophoben 2-Brompropionsäureamiden konnte eine kontrollierte radikalische Polymerisation (ATRP) von verschiedenen Acrylamiden durchgeführt werden. So wurden verschiedene Copolymere aus Acrylamid, N-Isopropylacrylamid und N-(3-Dimethylaminopropyl)-acrylamid synthetisiert. Der Einbau des Oberflächenankers als Funktionalität erfolgte indirekt durch Polymerisation eines N-Acryloxysuccinimid Endblocks, welcher in einer anschließenden polymeranalogen Reaktion mit Cysteaminmethyldisulfid umgesetzt wurde.In Ladungsuntersuchungen (PCD) konnte das pH-abhängige Verhalten der Polymere untersucht werden. Der Knäuelkollaps (LCST) der Poly-(N-isopropylacrylamide) wurde mittels Turbidimetrie und DSC charakterisiert. Die Adsorption der Polymere auf Goldoberflächen wurde mit Hilfe der Oberflächenplasmonen Spektroskopie (SPS) aus wässriger Lösung nachgewiesen werden. Dabei bildeten sich ultradünne Filme von 15-20 Å Dicke aus. Kontaktwinkelmessungen wiesen diesen adsorbierten Polymerfilmen ein sehr hydrophiles Verhalten nach. In Lösung adsorbierten die Polymere auf Vesikeloberflächen. Auf ultradünnen Polymerfilmen adsorbierten die Vesikel, wobei mit Hilfe der SPS eine Dickenzunahme um etwa 50 Å nachgewiesen werden konnte. Die ultradünnen Filme der Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) wiesen eine temperaturabhängige Attraktivität gegenüber Vesikeln auf. Durch gezielte Polystyrol-Entnetzung konnten strukturierte Träger erhalten werden.

Es wird eine Reihe von dimeren Seltenerdhydriden der Zusammensetzung [Ln(C5Me4NCMe2R)(THF)(H)]2 mit Ln= Y,Tb,Er,Lu und R= Me,Et auf ihre Eigenschaften als Polymerisationsinitiatoren untersucht.Die kontrollierte Polymerisation von Styrol ist nach der Bildung der Monoinsertionsprodukte von 1-Olefinen möglich. Dabei ist die Menge des im System verbleibenden THF von entscheidender Bedeutung. Die Insertion des ersten Styrolmoleküls verläuft selektiv sekundär.Es wird eine Korrelation der Polymerisationsgeschwindigkeit mit dem Ionenradius des verwendeten Metalls beobachtet.Die Erzeugung von Blockcopolymeren aus Styrol und tert.-Butylacrylat sowie anderen polaren Monomeren ist auf diesem Weg möglich und wird untersucht. Während die Länge des Polystyrolblocks eingestellt werden kann, verläuft die Polymerisation des Acrylats unkontrolliert. Es bilden sich Blockcopolymere mit einem Blocklängenverhältnis von etwa 1:1sowie Homopoly(tert.-Butylacrylat).Darüber hinaus wird das Verhalten der genannten Hydride sowie mehrerer anderer Seltenerdkompexe (u. a. mit Schiff-Base-Liganden) in der Polymerisation von rac.-beta-Butyrolacton untersucht. Die Hydride polymerisieren rac.-beta-Butyrolacton zu Polymeren mit Molekulargewichten von 10000-20000 g/mol. Gelbildung und Umesterungsreaktionentreten auf. Unter Kühlung ist eine bessere Kontrolle der Reaktion möglich. Die erhaltenen Polymere weisen eine syndiotaktisch angereicherte Mikrostruktur auf.Die Synthese der Schiff-Base-Komplexe erfolgt durch Umsetzung von R(-)-2,2'-Bis(6-tert.-butyl-4-ethylsalicylidenimin)-1,1'-binaphthyl ('LigH2') bzw. (1R,2R)-(-)-1,2-Cyclohexandiamino-N,N'-bis(3,5-di-tert.-butylsalicyliden)('(R,R)-Jacobsen-Ligand') mit Y(N(SiHMe2)2)3(THF)2. Die resultierenden Verbindungen sowie Y(CH2(SiMe3))3(THF)2 sind Initiatoren für die Polymerisation von rac.-beta-Butyrolacton und Lactid. Es wird keine kontrollierte Polymerisation beobachtet. Mit dem Schiff-Base-KomplexLigY(N(SiHMe2)2)(THF) wird bei der Polymerisation von rac.-beta-Butyrolacton eine syndiotaktische Anreicherung von bis zu 75 % s-Diaden erreicht.

In dieser Arbeit wurden neuartige substituierte N-Benzylbenzothiazoliumhexa-fluorophosphate und –antimonate synthetisiert und hinsichtlich ihre Wirksamkeit als photo- und thermolatente Initiatoren für Epoxidpolymerisationen untersucht. Zur Synthese der Benzothiazoliumderivate wurden zunächst substituierte Benzothiazole nach verschiedenen Verfahren hergestellt, diese mit den entsprechenden Benzylbromiden quaternisiert und die N-quaternären Bromide zu den Hexafluorophosphaten bzw. –antimonaten umgesalzt. Neben den niedermolekularen Benzothiazoliumsalzen wurden auch Copolymere mit dieser Struktur in der Seitenkette durch radikalische Copolymerisation vinylsubstituierter N-quaternärer Benzothiazoliumsalze mit MMA hergestellt. Sowohl die niedermolekularen als auch die polymergebundenen Benzothiazoliumhexafluorophosphate erwiesen sich als effektive direkte kationische Photo- und Thermoinitiatoren für die Polymerisation von Epoxiden. Durch die Einführung auxochromer Ethergruppierungen konnte eine bathochrome Verschiebung der UV-Absorptionswellenlänge des energieärmsten elektronischen Überganges erreicht werden. Kinetische IR-Studien der kationischen Polymerisation von Glycidylphenylether (GPE) im Nassfilm unter Bestrahlung in Gegenwart der hergestellten Benzothiazoliumsalze als Photoinitiatoren zeigten dass durch die so erreichte verbesserte Ausnutzung der einwirkenden Strahlung die kationische Photoinitiatoreffektivität deutlich gesteigert werden konnte. Der Zusatz eines photolytischen Radikalbildners führte zu einer weiteren Steigerung der Photopolymerisationsgeschwindigkeit und zu einer Umkehr der beobacheteten Initiatoreffektivitäten. UV-, 1H NMR-, sowie MALDI-TOF- Untersuchungen, sowie die vollständige Unterdrückung der Photopolymerisation durch den Protonenfänger DBP deuten auf die photolytische Generierung von Protonen als initiierende Spezies der photokationischen Polymerisation und DSC- und 1H-NMR Ergebnisse auf die thermische Generierung von Benzylkationen als initiierende Spezies der thermischen Polymerisation hin.
