We intend to study this text as Jorge de Lima establishes the relationship between two distinct activities, poetry and religion, for the elaboration of the A Túnica Inconsútil. In our perspective, the effective union of these two perspectives will be accomplished through the technique of surrealist collage, which makes use of the combination of disparate elements, together with the exploitation of classic tops of literature, such as the trip and the island. Join this practice the metaphysical poet's ideological project, which aims to establish the "poetry in Christ".

The article analyzes several aspects related to memoirs texts from the banished people of the Brazilian military dictatorship (1964-1985), mainly the domino effect of the narratives about resistance, the intertextuality among these works and the role of the banished ones in the effort of constructing a revolution which passed over national limits. Using autobiographical works such as the trilogy started by Fernando Gabeira with O que é isso, companheiro? [What is this, comrade?], the narratives of Alfredo Sirkis (Os carbonários and Roleta chilena) [The carbonari and Chilean roulette], Flávio Tavares (Memórias do esquecimento) [Memoirs of forgetfulness], Alex Polari (Em busca do tesouro) [In search of the treasure], and Carlos Eugênio Paz (Viagem à luta armada) [Trip to the armed struggle], among others, and as theoretical references authors like Andreas Huyssen, Beatriz Sarlo, Leonor Arfuch, Tzvetan Todorov and Michael Pollak, the article aims at reflecting about the memories of the banished and the political prisoners as a bruising affirmation of a crucial period of the Brazilian History and collective memory.

This article approaches the image of the house and its possible nuances of habitation by Bachelard phenomenology, figured in Patativa do Assaré’s poetry, a poet from Ceara who brings in his literary writing the popular backcountry culture. Stresses the importance of the sertão as a dream place for the lyrical subject represented in the poems and the security that the space offers to the voices that enunciate. In this space, the traumas are revived and reinterpreted from a movement of atmospheric production of meaning, which means that the locus enunciated by the memory raises, itself and from itself, a framed effect sense of the subject who comforts and enables the dream.

From the 70's, Africa was a massive wave of independence process. However, such processes are not meant processes of decolonization. According with Fanon (1961) also decolonization is based not only on the territorial and political, but mostly mental. While some former colonies resist colonial hegemony still visible in the local culture, others are colluding with the colonizing process. Thus, it will analyze the subservience and resistance to colonization in Lusophone African poetry, especially with the Angolan Viriato da Cruz, with the poem MaKézú (1961) and Cape Verdian Jorge Barbosa with Prelude (1956).

The purpose of this text is to reflect on some of Antônio Carlos Ferreira de Brito (Cacaso)´s verses aiming to demonstrate not only their oscillations, but also how they are fundamentally related to the moment of production. The excess of reality - conceived as trauma – it is hard to be assimilated and it is revealed in some poems. Wounded-poems that testify about the impossibility of saying at the same time they are the evidence of the necessity of telling. Telling to, cathartically, expel the pain and release the traumatic memory. Resistance to remembering and facing the pain cross this poetic path and suggest how they both are almost irreconcilable. Some concepts like trauma, memory and testimony will be elucidated.

This paper consists of an analysis of the poem “Chama e fumo”, from As Cinzas das Horas, first book by Manuel Bandeira, regarding specially formal aspects and horacian themes within it. Moreover, it is intended to discuss how the modernist poet interweaves elements related both to classic and end of century symbolist tradition, considering some of the main ancient poetry themes, as theorized by Francisco Achcar in his book Lírica e Lugar-comum - Alguns Temas de Horário e sua presença em português, such as the topic of transience and its variations: carpe diem and the invitation to love.

This article presents an analysis of identity and representations of black women in the tales Keep Secret Esmeralda Ribeiro, Rosa and Fusilier and Voices d'Rachel de Queiroz Africa. The story of Esmeralda Ribeiro black author, published in Cadernos Negros: the best short stories (1998) reexamines Clara dos Anjos, Lima Barreto's novel character written between 1904 and 1922. In this work, the author lays bare, in a confessional tone, the daily life of Rio suburbs, from the perspective of racial prejudice, and is the protagonist as a passive woman, submissive, an object. Emerald, black writer, gives Clara a condition of the subject, building an identity as a woman and as a black. It is the chronicle of belonging. Rosa and the Marine and Voices of Africa Rose protagonist appointing chronic-tale first is the outcome of its history in the second text, both published in the first Rachel de Queiroz of chronic compilation entitled The Maiden and Moura Pie (1948 ). Rachel is the text representation of black women because they can not as white women have the lived experience as black to build identity and can do it in generalizing way considering his wife condition and his experience in the feminine universe. There are relations between the texts that go beyond the theme, Space Rio suburb and similarities between Rosa and Clara, Cassi and the Marines. You can see the works a dialogue between sex and race interests, identities and stereotypes, relationships that materialize in Literature.

In this paper, we discuss important echoes of Galician-Portuguese lyric that remain in the 17th-century love lyric poetry produced in Portugal. In order to achieve this main objective, we highlight some specificities of the troubadours’ lyric and of the 17th-century poetry, particularly the fundamentally musical character of the troubadours’ songs as opposed to the fundamentally written character of the 17th-century poems. This contrast indicates that they are compositions from different times (predominantly the 13th and the 17th centuries) and produced according to distinct poetic conceptions. However, they are compositions which are also similar in many ways, and whose similarities, especially regarding the lyrical genre, point to similar quests for perfect practice of love, outlining “arts of love” understood as unsystematic precepts of loving which are practiced in poetry. In this article, we intend to show that these poetic loves are technically conceived and, as historical constructs, they differ from each other, since they are characterized by their peculiar moments of achievement. However, they are not isolated in the time. As mentioned above, the troubadours’ songs are essentially musical while the 17th-century poems, as indicated by the prevalent poetic preceptive in their time, are essentially written. Nevertheless, those trobar songs reverberate in these poems (“written songs”) and in both kinds we read and listen to similar precepts of love, as though we were in labyrinths of love echoes with no way out.

Our essay claims to analyze, in Carlos Drummond de Andrade’s poetry –mainly through the books Sentimento do mundo and A rosa do povo–, the importance of the artistic work with both the night image and the dawn one. By means of reading of the poem “Morte do leiteiro”, from A rosa do povo, we observe how this imagistic work is present in Drummond’s other texts and how, through this imagistic repetition, are discussed everyday and world themes that had been characterizing the 1940s, when Sentimento do mundo and A rosa do povo were published.

This article is a re-reading of the novel O cortiço, by Aluísio Azevedo, from theoretical reflections about the concepts that involve Afro-Brazilian literature. In that work, the representation of black woman takes us to the stereotypes of race and gender: seductive woman, responsible for the white man misguided. Methodologically, we get the category “black literature”, by Zilá Bernd (1987), closer to the engaged proposal of “Afro-Brazilian literature”, by Eduardo de Assis Duarte (2011), to discuss about the possibilities for revision of the Brazilian colonial past in the literary texts. Therefore, we used an approach of literary text reading that emphasizes the cultural intertexts of the artistic representations. According to the comparative studies, the dialogue between texts and culture promotes the critical rereading of the past, because the literary text becomes illuminated by a post-colonial look.
