The Space Race di Alex Latimer. Traduzione del romanzo di un autore sudafricano.

In the following thesis I present the book The Space Race from South African author Alex Latimer and my translation of some chapters, from English into Italian. Alex Latimer is an illustrator and author based in Cape Town, known mostly for his picture books for children, although his works also appear in magazines and advertisements. The Space Race is his first novel, but it immediately had a good reception amongst readers and critics. The author, his work and his novel The Space Race will be presented in depth in Chapter 1 of the thesis. Then, an overview on the South African fictional production will follow in Chapter 2, focusing mainly on the contemporary trends and trying to understand if and how The Space Race fits. Before presenting my translation and my reflections on the translating process itself, I will outline in Chapter 3 my general approach to the text and its translation, as well as explain the reasons why I chose those specific parts of the book. The original texts and their translations are presented in Chapter 4, preceded by a short introduction to better understand the position of the chapter in the plot and the elements of interests contained in it. A commentary on the translating process will follow in Chapter 5, about problems or just remarks on aspects of interest; also, further elements of complication in the text are described and my solutions presented. The thesis ends with a conclusion on the work done.

Tradurre per le imprese. Analisi e traduzione in inglese della Nota integrativa al Bilancio consolidato 2013 di MNLG S.r.l.-Holding Sorma Group

The aim of this dissertation is to provide a translation in English of the Notes on the Consolidated Financial Statements of MNLG S.r.l., holding company of the Italian Sorma Group. This translation work is one example of the technical material produced in accordance with the project called Language Toolkit, set up by the Chamber of Commerce of Forlì-Cesena, to support the internationalization of the companies established in the territory. This initiative has represented a unique opportunity for me to put into practice the knowledge and abilities learnt in the translation field during these years at university. It also allowed me to give a concrete purpose to my dissertation, that is to provide a technical document translated into a foreign language. By making its Consolidated Financial Statement readily available in English, the company MNLG S.r.l. can in fact increase the number of possible investors and guarantee a more transparent financial informative to its shareholders. This translation work is divided into six chapters: the first one describes the project, its main objectives and the ways in which it was developed. The second chapter deals with the notions of Consolidated Financial Statements and presents the accounting documents of which the Financial Statements are made up as well as the norms according to which they are prepared. The third chapter, instead, focuses on the translation procedure applied and especially on the documentation process, analysing the differences between the International Accounting Standards and the accounting standards used in Italy. The fourth chapter provides a description of the translation resources built for the translation of this specific document. The fifth chapter includes the English version of the Notes on the Consolidated Financial Statements and, to conclude, the sixth chapter analyses the difficulties encountered in translating and the strategies adopted to overcome them.

Настоящая работа представляет собой выполненный нами перевод с русского языка на итальянский семи глав книги «Тотальной “Войны” арт-активизма эпохи тандемократии», написанной видным социологом Алеком Эпштейном. Начав свою деятельность в Петербурге и Москве в 2007-ом году, арт-группа «Война» сразу стала одной из самых ярких представителей стрит-арта и акционизма современной России. В своей книге Алек Эпштейн проводит глубокий анализ истории арт-группы «Войны» и её деятельности, с первых акций до раскола группы и задержания двух из главных членов. В первой главе нами представлены арт-группа «Война», автор книги, характеристики текста и наш комментарий к переводу. В точности рассмотрены примечания переводчика, написанные в виде приложения в конце перевода. Эти примечания были созданы, чтобы лучше обеспечить трансляцию заключенной в тексте культурно-специфической информации. В второй главе представлен исторический и социологический анализ современной России, написанный, чтобы показать происхождение «Войны». В третьей главе рассмотрены искусственные методы и движения, оказавшие влияние на творчество «Войны». В заключение дан выполненный нами перевод и примечания переводчика.

"The White Road" di Neil Gaiman: una proposta di traduzione

L'obiettivo del presente elaborato è di fornire una proposta di traduzione dall'inglese all'italiano del poema "The White Road" di Neil Gaiman, pubblicato in Ruby Slippers, Golden Tears (1995) e in Smoke and Mirrors (1998). L'elaborato è articolato in: una breve presentazione dell’autore, con accento sui temi ricorrenti presenti nelle sue opere; una descrizione del testo scelto, sia in termini di struttura che di contenuti e riferimenti culturali; la proposta di traduzione con testo originale a fronte; un’analisi dei problemi traduttivi riscontrati con le relative soluzioni adottate.

Lingua della moda: Proposta di traduzione tecnico-scientifica dall'italiano al russo

Fashion is a mighty social phenomenon, therefore its linguistic representation, like many other aspects, serves as an opportunity to study the bonds between two languages. The first chapter of this thesis examines both the technical jargon of dress makers and the richer, more creative language used in glossy magazines, in an attempt to determine whether the language of fashion should be considered a language for specific purpose (LSP) or not. The second chapter provides a theoretical framework for translating a technical text and contributions of different scholars are taken into account. The third chapter delves deeper into the core of the work, the technical translation itself. It analyses the different strategies, the translation transformations, that proved to be necessary in the transition from Italian into Russian. Since the lexicon of special languages is their most obvious distinguishing characteristic, the commentary focuses on what are considered the most effective ways of enriching the Russian vocabulary of fashion, international words, calques and loanwords, especially form English and French. Overall, this influence has greatly accelerated in the last past decades because of dramatic changes in society and economy.

Xiaoxiao: Proposta di traduzione di un racconto di Shen Congwen

La tesi ha come oggetto la traduzione del racconto 萧萧 ‘Xiaoxiao’, scritto da Shen Congwen nel 1929. La vicenda, che appare di per sé singolare per il matrimonio combinato tra una bambina di tredici anni e un bambino ancora infante, si rivela il ritratto di una società in cambiamento e del il confronto - contrasto di tradizione e modernità che interessa l’intera Cina nel ventesimo secolo. L’antagonismo nei confronti del confucianesimo, che con la sua dottrina aveva governato per secoli ogni aspetto del vivere comune, si esprime attraverso l’auspicato ritorno al modo di vivere e ai valori dei popoli primitivi che abitano i territori di frontiera, come lo Hunan Occidentale, patria dell’autore, nonché luogo dove si svolge la narrazione. La traduzione del racconto, correlata di commento che ne esplicita le principali scelte traduttive, viene inserita nel suo contesto socio-culturale e integrata con le nozioni essenziali sulla vita e sulla poetica di Shen Congwen, considerato uno degli autori più influenti del suo tempo.

The purpose of this work is to introduce to the Italian audience one of the best known works written by the Russian novelist Aleksej Ivanov. The title of the book we refer to is Geograf glubus propil, [The geography drank his globe away]. The novel features peculiarities and themes that can be interesting also for non-Russian readers, being also an example of how Russian contemporary literature has evolved through the years. Nevertheless, it has already been translated in French and Serbian. In last years, the author has become increasingly famous in Russia: he has won many prices and has published a large number of books, many of which were awarded with different literature prizes. Moreover, a film based on the plot of the novel analyzed has been released in 2013, carrying the same name of the book. The film received positive feedback from both cinema critics and mass audience. The following work has been divided into two parts: an introductory part where the author and his book are presented, together with the main character and his peculiarities. It is then explained the context in which the book was created, the purpose of the author and how the book was perceived by readers. In addition to that, I listed some of the problems I had to face while translating , and the solutions I found in order to solve them. The second part is fully dedicated to the translation itself.

Proposta di traduzione dall'italiano al francese di un prodotto multimediale: Adhd - disturbo da deficit di attenzione e iperattività

La presente tesi di laurea verte sulla traduzione dall'italiano al francese della presentazione multimediale (centoquattro diapositive power point) dal titolo “ADHD – Il Disturbo da Deficit di Attenzione ed Iperattività”. Nello specifico, tale presentazione, redatta dagli operatori preposti dell'Unità Operativa di Neuropsichiatria dell’Infanzia e dell’Adolescenza degli “Spedali Civili di Brescia”, costituisce una sorta di supporto informativo e breve guida al comportamento per i docenti che si relazionano con studenti affetti da ADHD. La mia scelta è stata dettata da un interesse per la materia, ma anche da aspetti rilevanti dal punto di vista traduttivo, quali la tipologia del testo di partenza e la traduzione attiva. Il testo di partenza è, infatti, di tipo misto, a metà tra tecnico/scientifico, istruttivo e divulgativo, e presenta una struttura adeguata al genere di supporto utilizzato, vale a dire un supporto multimediale. Alle problematicità sul piano testuale sono, infine, da aggiungere quelle in ambito terminologico, essendo la traduzione attiva una sfida notevole qualunque sia l'argomento affrontato. L’elaborato si compone di cinque capitoli. Il primo capitolo funge da introduzione alla presentazione originale, fornendo una base teorica relativa alle lingue speciali e al linguaggio della divulgazione scientifica. Il secondo capitolo è costituito dalla presentazione multimediale in lingua originale. Oggetto del terzo capitolo è, invece, l'analisi macro e microlinguistica del testo di partenza. Il quarto e il quinto capitolo rappresentano il fulcro della mia tesi proponendo rispettivamente la traduzione in lingua francese della presentazione powerpoint, dal titolo “TDAH – Le Trouble du Déficit de l'Attention avec Hyperactivité”, e il commento alla traduzione. Il quinto capitolo, più nel dettaglio, si focalizza sulla metodologia adottata nel corso della stesura dell'elaborato, sulle strategie traduttive di cui mi sono servita per redigere la traduzione e sui problemi riscontrati. Infine, il capitolo conclusivo riprende i punti cardine del mio lavoro in una valutazione a posteriori.

Proposta di traduzione in italiano di una brochure turistica francese

Oggetto di questa tesi sono l'analisi del linguaggio utilizzato nella comunicazione turistica e delle difficoltà di traduzione che si presentano nei testi turistici. Sono state analizzate le principali caratteristiche del discorso turistico, sia dal punto di vista della tipologia testuale sia per quanto riguarda le peculiarità del lessico impiegato nei testi turistici. Si è trattato il tema della trasmissione dei riferimenti culturali, soprattutto dei nomi propri (che sono numerosi all'interno dei testi turistici) e delle strategie di traduzione che permettono di trovare ottime soluzioni per conservare il significato del termine d'origine nella lingua d'arrivo e di spiegare al destinatario del testo il contenuto non sempre chiaro del nome proprio (e, più in generale, del riferimento culturale).

Proposta di traduzione dal francese di un dossier sulla neurolinguistica

Questa tesi è incentrata sulla traduzione di un dossier in lingua francese diviso in due parti, pubblicate in due numeri successivi all’interno di una rivista settoriale per neuroscienziati francofoni. Nella fase di selezione del testo ho svolto il ruolo d’ipotetico editore italiano che gestisce una rivista per neuroscienziati italofoni e che vuole rendere disponibili all’interno della comunità neuroscientifica italiana contributi provenienti dall’estero sotto forma di dossier tematici. Nel primo capitolo ho analizzato il dossier basandomi sulla griglia di Tudor, un modello di analisi testuale ideato a scopi didattici per i corsi di traduzione che in questo caso si presta molto bene come strumento di riflessione sulle caratteristiche del testo source. Nel secondo capitolo valuto la macrostrategia traduttiva più idonea per la redazione del testo d’arrivo e approfondisco sia le conoscenze relative al dominio dei microtesti che costituiscono il dossier sia gli aspetti terminologici relativi ai termini inizialmente sconosciuti. Sempre in questo capitolo approfondisco l’analisi terminologica e propongo alcune schede terminologiche. Nel terzo capitolo presento la proposta di traduzione con testo di partenza a fronte. Infine nel quarto capitolo commento il processo traduttivo analizzando la fase di documentazione, la fase di ricerca terminologica e i principali problemi traduttivi.

La traduzione giornalistica: il caso della rivista Internazionale

Este proyecto tiene el objetivo de analizar la traducción periodística a través del análisis de la traducción de tres artículos españoles y de sus traducciones publicadas en la revista italiana Internazionale. La traducción periodística constituye un sector significativo para los medios de comunicación, y los textos traducidos representan una parte importante de las noticias de la prensa y de las revistas que a menudo utilizan artículos extranjeros para contar lo que pasa en el mundo. Internazionale traduce artículos procedentes de todo el mundo, sin embargo, este trabajo se centra solo en las traducciones de textos publicados por periódicos españoles. Los artículos estaban incluidos en la sección “Visti dagli altri” (Vistos por los otros), un apartado que trata artículos de la prensa extranjera sobre temas italianos. En concreto, he analizado artículos publicados en El País, La Vanguardia y El Correo. He elegido analizar artículos que trataban temáticas concernientes Italia: un escándalo relacionado con la corrupción, la política internacional italiana con referencia a la Unión Europea y las discusiones consiguientes a un evento natural. El análisis evidenciará las diferencias entre el artículo original y su traducción, se observarán las estrategias y las elecciones adoptadas por el traductor, así como las diferentes técnicas empleadas.

"L'isola è piena di suoni": il teatro fra interpretazione e traduzione

Nel presente elaborato mi sono proposta di analizzare in che modo il testo viene percepito in maniera diversa da ognuno di noi, a seconda dell’esperienza estetica, e su come questo si rifletta sulla traduzione. Al fine di poter sviluppare tale questione, ho voluto esaminare la traduzione delle opere teatrali La vida es sueño di Pedro Calderón de La Barca e The tempest di William Shakespeare che è stata portata a termine rispettivamente da Pier Paolo Pasolini attraverso l’opera Calderón e da Giorgio Strehler insieme a Agostino Lombardo attraverso la messa in scena de La tempesta. Da un lato, Pasolini adatta e traspone il testo attraverso il suo modo di fare teatro, un “Teatro di Parola”, che non è solo impegno civile e dibattito critico, ma anche poesia e autoriflessione, in cui l’attore rappresenta un veicolo di idee. D’altro canto, la traduzione portata a termine da Giorgio Strehler e Agostino Lombardo è intesa come messa in scena, dove l’attore incarna il testo, con il fine di trasmettere la profondità del testo stesso. La prima parte è dedicata ad una riflessione su tematiche relative a quello che mi sono proposta di sviluppare nell’elaborato, come per esempio l’ermeneutica del testo, l’esperienza estetica, l’esistenza o meno di una traduzione definitiva. La parte centrale, invece, si concentra sulle due opere sopra citate, in particolar modo sui due approcci traduttivi differenti, che rappresentano due modi diversi di interpretare il testo.

Meccanica Sarti: localizzazione, traduzione e lavoro terminologico

Die Idee zu der vorliegenden Masterarbeit entstand nach meinem Praktikum bei dem Bologneser Unternehmen Meccanica Sarti, das im Bereich der metallmechanischen Industrie tätig ist. Ziel meiner Masterarbeit ist die Lokalisierung der Unternehmenswebsite ins Deutsche und die deutsche Übersetzung der Unternehmensbroschüre. Vor beiden Projekten wurde jeweils eine Terminologiearbeit durchgeführt. Die Masterarbeit ist in vier Kapitel untergliedert. Das erste Kapitel ist Meccanica Sarti gewidmet, einem Unternehmen, das sich auf die Fertigung und Bearbeitung feinmechanischer Bauteile für die Industrie spezialisiert hat. Das zweite Kapitel bietet eine theoretische Einführung in die Lokalisierung: Insbesondere werden die wichtigsten mit ihr verknüpften Konzepte (z.B. das Akronym GILT), ihre Geschichte und ihre Entwicklung erläutert. Das Kapitel enthält auch einen Überblick auf die den ÜbersetzerInnen während der Lokalisierung zur Verfügung stehenden elektronischen Hilfsmittel und die Auszeichnungs- bzw. Programmiersprachen, mit denen die Webseiten geschrieben sind. Im dritten Kapitel werden die Fachsprachen und die Terminologiearbeit thematisiert. Die Übersetzung eines Fachtextes ist nur dann möglich, wenn die ÜbersetzerInnen den Wortschatz des betreffenden Fachgebiets, d.h. die Terminologie, kennen. Nach einer Übersicht über die Merkmale der Fachsprachen und der Terminologie wird auf die von Meccanica Sarti benutzte Terminologie eingegangen. Im Rahmen der Masterarbeit wurde zunächst ein Korpus mit den vom Unternehmen zur Verfügung gestellten Dokumenten erstellt und mit dem Programm AntConc wurden die häufigsten keyword und n-gram ermittelt. Im Anschluss daran wurden mit SDL MultiTerm die einschlägigen terminologischen Eintrage erstellt. Das vierte Kapitel beinhaltet die Analyse der Website und der Broschüre und die Auseinandersetzung mit ihren sprachlichen bzw. grafischen Merkmalen. An die Analyse schließt sich eine Überlegung zu SDL Trados, dem benutzen CAT Tool, an. Das Kapitel enthält auch die Lokalisierung der Website und die Übersetzung der Broschüre, die beide ins Deutsche durchgeführt wurden. Abschließend werden die Übersetzungsstrategien, -verfahren, -probleme und -schwierigkeiten anhand der theoretischen Überlegungen am Anfang des Kapitels beschrieben.
