Informação e mobilização: a atuação do jornal O Estado de S. Paulo na campanha constitucionalista de 1932

No levante paulista de 1932, o jornal O Estado de S. Paulo ocupou papel de destaque ao noticiar, com eloqüência, as informações da guerra que lhe convinha e, principalmente, participar das articulações que redundariam no entrincheiramento. Entretanto, a atuação do periódico na conjuntura não se resume à manipulação da notícia ou deriva meramente do projeto político de seus diretores. Na “Revolução Constitucionalista” O Estado de S. Paulo agiu como o porta-voz da elite paulista. Neste texto, portanto, pretendo problematizar a participação do jornal O Estado de S. Paulo no levante de 1932, enfatizando sua condição de fonte e objeto para a produção do conhecimento histórico.

Comments on energy confinement in non-periodic structures

In this study, we investigate the possibility of mode localization occurrence in a non-periodic Pfluger's column model of a rocket with an intermediate concentrated mass at its middle point. We discuss the effects of varying the intermediate mass magnitude and its position and the resulting energy confinement for two cases. Free vibration analysis and the severity of mode localization are appraised, without decoupling the system, by considering as a solution basis the fundamental free response or dynamical solution. This allows for the reduction of the dimension of the algebraic modal equation that arises from satisfying the boundary and continuity conditions. By using the same methodology, we also consider the case of a cantilevered Pluger's column with rotational stiffness at the middle support instead of an intermediate concentrated mass. Periodic orbits for a class of reversible quadratic vector field on R-3

For a class of reversible quadratic vector fields on R-3 we study the periodic orbits that bifurcate from a heteroclinic loop having two singular points at infinity connected by an invariant straight line in the finite part and another straight line at infinity in the local chart U-2. More specifically, we prove that for all n is an element of N, there exists epsilon(n) > 0 such that the reversible quadratic polynomial differential systemx = a(0) + a(1y) + a(3y)(2) + a(4Y)(2) + epsilon(a(2x)(2) + a(3xz)),y = b(1z) + b(3yz) + epsilon b(2xy),z = c(1y) +c(4az)(2) + epsilon c(2xz)in R-3, with a(0) < 0, b(1)c(1) < 0, a(2) < 0, b(2) < a(2), a(4) > 0, c(2) < a(2) and b(3) is not an element of (c(4), 4c(4)), for epsilon is an element of (0, epsilon(n)) has at least n periodic orbits near the heteroclinic loop. Non-periodic bifurcations of one-dimensional maps

We prove that a 'positive probability' subset of the boundary of '{uniformly expanding circle transformations}' consists of Kupka-Smale maps. More precisely, we construct an open class of two-parameter families of circle maps (f(alpha,theta))(alpha,theta) such that, for a positive Lebesgue measure subset of values of alpha, the family (f(alpha,theta))(theta) crosses the boundary of the uniformly expanding domain at a map for which all periodic points are hyperbolic (expanding) and no critical point is pre-periodic. Furthermore, these maps admit an absolutely continuous invariant measure. We also provide information about the geometry of the boundary of the set of hyperbolic maps.

Periodic inspection on crop sprayers: Results according to age of sprayers

The objectives of the IPP Project-Periodic Inspection on Crop Sprayers-are to develop methods for sprayer certification, analyze quality on spray operation, propose an inspection system for crop sprayers in Brazil, improve environmental quality on spray operation, and reduce costs on chemical control for plant protection systems. Periodic inspections on crop sprayers are performed in several countries and are compulsory in most of them, and it is becoming an important tool for improvement and optimization of use of chemicals. The IPP Project in Brazil is funded by FAPESP-Fundação de Amparo a Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo. The results so far showed that all the sprayers presented failures. However, most of them could be approved with minor services. As an example, 56.6% of the sprayers with more than 2 years of use presented leaks, 47% of them had damaged hoses and 80.5% presented bad tips (nozzles). These results indicate the need for better procedures of use and maintenance of sprayers, justifying the periodic inspection system.

Periodic inspection of sprayers: diagnostic to the northern of Paraná

Para a otimização no uso de agroquímicos, vários países têm realizado inspeções periódicas em pulverizadores agrícolas. No Brasil, o conhecimento do estado destas máquinas pode nortear pesquisas e investimentos em orientação de uso e de manutenção das mesmas. O objetivo deste trabalho foi verificar o estado de manutenção de pulverizadores em uso para a região norte do Estado do Paraná. Foram avaliados itens como: presença, estado e escala do manômetro, estado das mangueiras, estado dos antigotejadores, presença de vazamentos, estado da barra, estado dos filtros, estado das pontas de pulverização e erros na taxa de aplicação. As máquinas foram caracterizadas como aprovadas quando não havia falha em nenhum item avaliado. O fator que ocasionou o maior índice de reprova entre as máquinas foi a escala incorreta do manômetro, que reprovou 84,55% das máquinas avaliadas. Outro fator de destaque foi a taxa de aplicação incorreta em 75,5% das máquinas. do total dos 110 pulverizadores avaliados,apenas uma unidade foi aprovada.

Resonances and subharmonic bifurcations of large amplitude periodic orbits of planar polynomial vector fields

In this work are studied periodic perturbations, depending on two parameters, of planar polynomial vector fields having an annulus of large amplitude periodic orbits, which accumulate on a symmetric infinite heteroclinic cycle. Such periodic orbits and the heteroclinic trajectory can be seen only by the global consideration of the polynomial vector fields on the whole plane, and not by their restriction to any compact set. The global study involving infinity is performed via the Poincare Compactification. It is shown that, for certain types of periodic perturbations, one can seek, in a neighborhood of the origin in the parameter plane, curves C-(m) of subharmonic bifurcations, for which the periodically perturbed system has subharmonics of order m, for any integer m.
