José Feliciano de Castilho e os epigramas de Marcial no séc. XIX: ensaio de história da tradução

É sobre o processo tradutório empreendido por José Feliciano de Castilho Barreto e Noronha (1810-1879) sobre os versos de Marcial, o grande epigramatista latino do século I d. C, que a autora foca, aqui, sua análise. O trabalho não só contribui para o debate sobre a constituição de uma História das Traduções, como oferece ao leitor interessado em poesia uma antologia, até então inédita, de versões oitocentistas em língua portuguesa para 49 epigramas latinos do poeta. Também apresenta a vida e obra de José Feliciano Castilho e pontua sua importância no contexto literário do século XIX. José Feliciano de Castilho ou Castilho José, como ficou conhecido, nasceu em Portugal e viveu no Rio de Janeiro a partir de 1847. Doutor e bacharel em Direito, Medicina e Filosofia, publicou no Brasil a Livraria clássica portuguesa e o periódico Íris, no qual figuravam textos de escritores como Joaquim Manuel de Macedo e Antônio Gonçalves Dias. Os debates que Castilho José manteve com José de Alencar, em defesa da Lei do Ventre Livre, o tornaram conhecido e, por conta desse episódio, ele aparece citado em obras clássicas sobre literatura brasileira. Neste livro, Joana Junqueira Borges busca resgatar, pelo menos parcialmente, sua obra literária, filológica e tradutória, que foi pouco explorada. Entre suas produções mais relevantes estão os comentários e anotações feitos por ele às traduções dos poemas de Ovídio, produzidas por seu irmão, o poeta Antônio Feliciano Castilho. Ali, José Feliciano Castilho atuou ele mesmo como tradutor de versos de outros poetas latinos, como Propércio, Tibulo, Lucano, Catulo e Marcial

This article proposes an analysis of the representation of the city in João Antônio's literature, having as main reference the book I, published in 1978. The city in João Antônio's writings seems to be composed by the particular language and focus of the narrator, who wants himself identified to the lower classes, emulating the talk of the excluded people by a linguistic treatment, with its syntactic, rhythmic and vocabulary implications, building a point of view apart from the representations of the upper classes. Thus, João Antônio tries to represent the city through the focus of those social classes, which results in the preference for unknown places, marginal from official images.

Cephalometric analysis for the diagnosis of sleep apnea: a comparative study between reference values and measurements obtained for Brazilian subjects

OBJECTIVE: To verify if the reference values of Sleep Apnea cephalometric analysis of North American individuals are similar to the ones of Brazilian individuals presenting no craniofacial anomalies. The study also aimed to identify craniofacial alterations in Obstructive Sleep Apnea-Hypopnea Syndrome (OSAHS) patients in relation to individuals without clinical characteristics of the disease through this cephalometric analysis. METHOD: It were used 55 lateral cephalograms consisting of 29 for the control group of adult individuals without clinical characteristics of OSAHS and 26 apneic adults. All radiographs were submitted to Sleep Apnea cephalometric analysis through Radiocef Studio 2.0. The standard values of this analysis were compared, by means of z test, to the ones obtained from the control group and these were compared to values from apneic group through Student's t test. RESULTS: There were no significant differences between values obtained from control group and standard values. On the group of OSAHS patients it was observed a decrease on the dimensions of upper airways and an increase on the soft palate length. CONCLUSIONS: The standard values of Sleep Apnea analysis can be used as reference in Brazilian individuals. Besides, through lateral cephalograms it was possible to identify craniofacial alterations in OSAHS patients.

Seeking to contribute to the research of classical Greek and Roman translations into Portuguese and to the reception of these texts in Brazilian literature, this study intends to inventory, study and promote the work of translation of José Feliciano de Castilho, a distinguished Luso-Brazilian who has lived in Rio de Janeiro from 1847 until his death in 1879. Focusing on the poetic translations of Catullus, this study shows our intent to put together the learning of Latin language and approaches of history of translation

Diagnóstico antropogeomorfológico em bacia hidrográfica urbana: o caso do Córrego do Jardim São João, Araras (SP)

Man can transform the nature according to their needs through technique which enables agriculture, cattle raising, constructions of buildings for housing, transport routes, etc. This action has brought significant transformations to the environment, and relief is one of the most changed elements, mainly at urban areas, which concentrates most of the Brazilian population. In these areas geomorphologic systems have undergone alterations in their flow of matter and energy by the action of man. Thus, it is possible o understand the action of man as geomorphologic action, nowadays, the tecnógeno, since the human action can interfere qualitatively and quantitatively in the input and output of these systems. The anthropic geomorphology has contributed to the analyses of the effects due to the urbanization at the form and at the geomorphologic process in the urban watersheds, indicating the transformations at the shape of the relief and the alterations due to the acceleration of the flow of matter and energy. From these questions, this study had the main diagnose the anthropogenic changes of the relief at the basin of Corrego do Jardim São João, Araras (SP), comparing two scenes, 1997 and 2006, through geomorphological mapping evolutionary in the area. The geomorphological feature altered at the basin are directly linked to the use of soil, mainly at the urban use, which caused effects in the relief at the studied area, making possible to define periods of the urban evolution and impacts caused by the urbanization. Among the changes it was found the decrease of the topographic breaks and at the riverbed channels, as the increase of the accumulation of the plain and riverbed terrace. A regionalização do discurso de João Guimarães Rosa: a linguagem e a caracterização do homem do sertão

This study intends to analyze the regional influences for the language and the characterization of characters of the environment João Guimarães Rosa, stressing the important of language as cultural heritage. The study is based on the concepts of Culture and defended by Region of Cultural Geography, Language as an asset by Iphan, interviews and works of Rosa, and publications related to Rosa's works. Having the definition of place as a center of meaning constructed by experience (Tuan, 1983), and that the region is now seen based on the set of perceptions and lived down from seizures, evaluations, decisions and behaviors collectives (Bezzi, 2004), qualitative research provides grounds of the discussion it’s importance of communication and the same transcript. Through the study of language, characters and actions of the author's own notes to create the environment for the study of behavior, lived and / or imagined in the stories. Based on the literature review has set itself the aim of the study of the language coupled with the behavior of certain individuals of the same group have a cultural identity is recognized and valued as historic and cultural heritage
