Introduction: Aortic insufficiency (AoI), a volume overload, is characterized by the diastolic reflux of blood from the regurgitating aorta to the left ventricle. This effect results from malfunctioning aortic cusps. The main cause of AoI in developing countries is rheumatic fever, including Brazil, and valvar degeneration in developed countries. There is a strong association between cardiovascular diseases and depression. Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI) are one of the most prescribed antidepressants in the world. Previous studies of our laboratory showed that the utilization of a SSRI, paroxetine, improved cardiac function in rats with sub-chronic AoI and reduced the daily ingestion of hypertonic sodium (NaCl 0,3M). Cardiovascular diseases can determine behavior changes like increase of anxiety, and it is yet unknown if AoI would determine anxiety or anhedonia, incapacity of obtaining pleasure through physical or sensorial experiences. A possible target for SSRI action could be a change in the expression of enzyme isoforms that collaborate in the contractile function of the heart muscle, like the heavy chains of myosine, the sarcoplasmatic reticulum Ca2+/ATPase (SERCA) and its regulator protein, phospholamban (PLB). Objectives: Evaluation of behavior parameters for anxiety and anhedonia state and genic expression of a-myosine, b-myosine, SERCA2a and PLB in the heart tissue of rats with subchronic AoI that received treatment with an SSRI (paroxetine) for 4 weeks. Methods: Surgery to induce AoI was performed on male Wistar rats, anxiety was evaluated by the elevated plus-maze (EPM) and state of anhedonia was tested by ingestion of 2% sucrose solution. After euthanasia the heart tissue was collected and total RNA was extracted to be analyzed by the RT-qPCR method. Aspectos histopatológicos e expressão de receptores hormonais (AR e ERα) na próstata de ratos expostos ao Di-n-Butil-Ftalato (DBP) desde o período fetal, iniciados pela N-Metil-N-Nitrosuréia (MNU)

Tendo em vista a problemática mundial com relação à degradação dos materiais plásticos e sua dispersão no meio ambiente, e diante de estudo realizado anteriormente onde se observou alterações histopatológicas e bioquímicas na próstata de animais expostos ao DBP (Di-N-Butil-ftalato) no período perinatal, este estudo teve por objetivo avaliar o potencial carcinogênico do DBP administrado desde o período fetal e após iniciação pelo MNU em um modelo de carcinogênese prostática. Ratas prenhes foram divididas em 4 grupos experimentais: 2 tratados: n=16/grupo (TDBP100 e TDBP500) e 2 controles: n=8/grupo (CN e CMNU). O grupo TDBP100 foi exposto ao DBP (100 mg/kg) e o TDBP500 a 500 mg/kg do 15º. dia de gestação (DG15) até a 21º. dia pósnatal (DPN21), enquanto que os animais controle receberam o veículo. Após o desmame, os machos foram separados e os grupos tratados e CMNU receberam dose única de MNU (50 mg/Kg, i.p.) na 6ª. semana pós-natal. Metade dos animais tratados (n=8/grupo) continuaram recebendo o DBP (DBP100+ e DBP500+) após o desmame em doses semanais até o dia do sacrifício (DPN180), enquanto os demais foram mantidos pelo mesmo período sem tratamento (DBP100- e DBP500-).Após a aplicação do MNU, os animais foram submetidos a injeções semanais de Cipionato de Testosterona (promotor) 2mg/aplicação. No dia do sacrifício, o sangue foi coletado, os órgãos reprodutores foram pesados e fragmentos do lobo ventral da próstata foram processados para inclusão em resina e Paraplast para as análises estruturais; e imunocitoquímicas para a detecção de AR e ER. Fragmentos de próstata ventral foram congelados e estocados a -80ºC e após extração das proteínas, estas foram destinadas à reação de Western Blot para avaliar a expressão das mesmas proteínas. A dança como expressão do imaginário

This article summarizes the findings obtained in ethnographic research conducted in 2009, which led to the dissertation entitled The weaving of movement: dance, tribalism and imaginary in everyday life of a group of students at a public school in Araraquara city defended the Universidade Estadual Paulista - Faculdade de Ciências e Letras de Araraquara, São Paulo. The objective of the survey was to collect clues to a method of movement analysis with reference to the Anthropology of the Imaginary Gilbert Durand and studies of efforts (effort shape) in Rudolf Laban. For this, we identified the main break dance moves practiced by a group of teens who attend school on weekends. The inventory movements in this dance led to a rhythmic and gestural thinking beyond the rationalization of bodily education.

Subjetividade no processo de subordinação substantiva: a expressão da evidencialidade

In this paper, we intend to reflect on the subordination process based on a functionalist-cognitive approach. For this, we analyze syntactic constructions in which the main clause predicator is a speech act verb, a mental activity verb or a perception verb. One of the pragmatic functions of these constructions is to express evidentiality, which is basically the indication of the information source contained in a sentence. Evidentiality allows the Speaker to manage information in order to preserve his/her face and also allows the Addresser to assess the reliability of this information. We take the evidentiality expression as a functionality of the subordination process in order to rethink the teaching of syntax as a tool for an effective development of students’ communicative abilities.

Efeitos da adição de agentes tróficos na dieta de leitões desmamados sobre a expressão da enzima ornitina descarboxilase, os conteúdos de proteína e DNA e o desempenho

Two experiments were carried out to evaluate the effect of adding glutamine, fish oil or yeast cellular wall to the diet of weaned piglets on the expression of the enzyme ornithine decarboxylase (ODC), the protein content and DNA in small intestine samples and on performance. In the first experiment, 24 weaned piglets were used to measure the performance at the phases prestarter, starter 1 and starter 2. Four diets were tested (T1 -basal diet (BD); T2 -BD + 1% of glutamine; T3 -BD + 0,2% of yeast cellular wall; T4 -BD + 5% of fish oil). At the second experiment 45 weaned piglets were used and distributed in a randomized block design, in factorial outline with four diets and three slaughter ages (on the day of weaning, on the seventh and fourteenth days postweaning). The tested diets did not alter the piglets' performance in none of the phases. There was reduction of the expression of the ODC enzyme, of the protein concentration and of the relationship protein/DNA to the seven days postweaning, with increase of the values on the 14th day, evidencing a state of hypotrophy of the mucous membrane, suggesting that the process of protein synthesis in the small intestine was diminished in the first week after weaning, but it presented recovery signs in the second week.
