Arquivos da Imigração no contexto da hospedaria de imigrantes de São Paulo

Desde sua inauguração em 1888 até 1978, a Hospedaria de Imigrantes de São Paulo atuou na recepção, triagem e encaminhamento de aproximadamente 3,5 milhões de trabalhadores (imigrantes e migrantes internos) para diversos setores da agricultura paulista. Parte significativa da documentação produzida ou depositada nessa Instituição é composta por suportes como: livros de registro, fichas de identificação e listas de bordo. Sobre esses incidem interesses diversos. Por um lado, são fontes que revelam informações importantes sobre a memória (coletiva) da imigração para São Paulo ao passo que, por outro, expõem informações pessoais que podem ser consideradas de foro privado ou pertinentes a outro sentido da memória.

Tumblrs fotográficos como lugares de memória: a profanação do acontecimento e a lógica de arquivo

From the assumption that digital photography not only opened new photographic practices, but also formulated new forms of image appropriations, including how photos are linked to our collective memory, this paper aims to study the Tumblrs pages that use historic photographs in its compositions. From the notion that the archives are an opening to the public space and a place of symbolic assignment, we will discuss the notion that the function of these photographs suffers a displacement that gives priority to the file itself as an object of interest over the event alluded. In other words, it is the file that becomes the object of the representation of a place of memory.

Descrever o passado para prever o futuro: sobre os usos da história no jornalismo para o delineamento de prognósticos

Once the use of historical data serves as an articulator of senses in journalistic narratives, this article proposes to study the cases in which the discursive constructions of the future are structured from the evocation of the past. It is possible to discern how images of the future built on stories parting from the past is related to a specific conception of history and how this history is seen, by journalism, as a repository of examples enrolled in a temporal continuum and fixed as a judging instance able to measure and anticipate the future consequences.

DIFFERENT MEDIA, DIFFERENT TYPES OF COLLECTIVE WORK IN ONLINE CONTINUING TEACHER EDUCATION: WOULD YOU PASS THE PEN, PLEASE?

This paper presents some findings regarding the interaction between different computer interfaces and different types of collective work. We want to claim that design in online learning environments has a paramount role in the type of collaboration that happens among participants. In this paper, we report on data that illustrate how teachers can collaborate online in order to learn how to use geometry software in teaching activities. A virtual environment which allows that construction to be carried out collectively, even if the participants are not sharing a classroom, is the setting for the research presented in this paper.

Does ISO 14001 work in Brazil?

As a result of increasing global awareness about the importance of the environment, depletion of natural resources and legal pressures for companies to manage their processes in a sustainable manner, ISO 14001 systems have been gaining increasingly more importance in the organizational scenario. These elements are even more critical in emerging nations due to less awareness and fewer demands by governments and the population in relation to environmental issues. Therefore, the main objective of this study is to verify the benefits and difficulties of Environmental Management Systems based on ISO 14001 at industries in the state of São Paulo - Brazil (an emerging country) by conducting a survey to subsidize the proposal for actions in the public, academic and private sectors to promote the use of this standard of reference and strengthen its results in Brazil. A questionnaire was sent to 194 companies from the National Institute of Metrology, Standardization and Industrial Quality database. 69 answered, representing a return rate of 35.36%. The main benefits identified are related to the development of preventive environmental actions, reduction in the consumption of power, water, gas and fuel oil, and a positive influence on other internal management processes. The main difficulties are related to cost increases from ISO 14001 management systems and the constant changes in environmental legislation in Brazil. Some actions are proposed at the end of the analyses to intensify the use and improve the results of this standard, such as changes in government legislation and its collective development and implementation in industries.
