Millipedes are macro-arthropods of soil which perform a important role in maintaining the balance of the ecosystem, since they feed on decaying organic matter and because they promotes the soil enrichment, aeration and humidification. These animals are usually found in humid with low light places, under rocks and trunks. The diplopods exoskeleton is much resistant and impregnated with calcium salts. Due the secretion of defense, with strong and unpleasant smell, the animals of this class have few or no predators. Large diplopods populations are not observed, but explosions population can occur for unbalances enviromnmental, by climate change and by use of pesticides that may eliminate potential competitors. In this sense, the millipede Urostreptus atrobrunneus Pierozzi & Fontanetti, 2006, has presented points of infestation in urban centers of Sao Paulo state, causing many disorders of the human population. Because it is a newly described species, little is known of its aspects biological and morphological. Thus, the purpose of this study was to describe the structure and function of the digestive tract of the species U. atrobrunneus by means of histological, histochemistry and ultrastructural techniques. The results demonstrated that the digestive tract of U. atrobrunneus is similar to the descriptions given for other species. The foregut consists of a simple epithelium, composed of cells of different heights, covered by a cuticular intima, leaning on a thin basal membrane, followed by a well-developed muscular layer and an external membrane, around the foregut have a pair of salivary glands. The midgut epithelium has a pseudostratified, supported by a thick basal membrane, followed by a muscular layer and a layer of hepatic cells. This work focuses on a study on the fatigue behavior of a microalloyed steel API 5L X70, used in pipes lines to transport oil and gas. These types of steels have excellent mechanical resistance values and ductility and therefore increased their study driven by increased demand for oil and especially natural gas, which consequently raises the need to build new pipelines to transport these products. The oil extraction units, composed of the risers (pipelines connecting the oil well to the ship), are dimensioned to remain installed for periods of 20 to 30 years in the marine environment, a hostile environment for high pressure, corrosion, low temperatures and the stresses caused by the movement of water and tides. For analysis, the S-N (stress versus number of cycles) curves were obtained from data collected from bodies-of-proof cylindrical longitudinal, transverse and that one removed from the weld area of the pipe, tested in accordance with ASTM E466. Tensile tests were performed for characterizing the mechanical properties of the samples and welded joints, concluded that the values meet the specifications of the standard API 5L. To characterize microstructural material, also metallographic analysis was made of regions of the base metal and the HAZ. The results of fatigue tests demonstrated a higher life for the specimens removed from the longitudinal direction the pipe, followed by those in the transverse direction and, finally, the welded joint. The origins of the fatigue cracks were determined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM)

A inflamação é basicamente uma resposta de proteção tissular cuja função é proteger o organismo de micro-organismos e toxinas que promovem a lesão celular. A resposta inflamatória gera o aparecimento dos quatro sinais cardinais dor, edema, calor e rubor podendo posteriormente ocorrer a perda de função do tecido ou órgão. Os anti-inflamatórios não esteroides (AINEs) promovem sua atividade alterando a atividade de prostaglandinas (PGs), por inibição das isoformas de ciclo-oxigenases constitutivas (COX1) e induzidas (COX2). A inibição não seletiva destas enzimas (por AINEs clássicos) gera reações adversas graves, como as reações gastrointestinais, em pacientes pré-dispostos e/ou que as utilizam por um período prolongado. Os AINEs de segunda geração (inibidores seletivos de COX2), também se mostraram tóxicos, podendo causar alterações cardiovasculares. Neste sentido, o planejamento de novos compostos com atividade anti-inflamatória e destituídos de toxicidade ainda é um desafio para a química farmacêutica e medicinal. Dois derivados de ibuprofeno (AINE clássico) foram obtidos anteriormente no Lapdesf por Castro (2008) e Vizioli (2006), demonstrando atividade anti-inflamatória em modelo de inflamação aguda (edema de pata) e crônica (colite ulcerativa), destituídos de gastroulceração (VIZIOLI, 2009). Diante destes resultados o presente estudo visou à preparação dos compostos e o estudo pré-clínico de toxicidade em dose única (aguda) e em doses repetidas em camundongos, bem como as análises comportamentais, histopatológicas dos órgãos e ensaios bioquímicos. Os achados comportamentais, bioquímicos e histopatológicos permitem concluir que não foi observada toxicidade nos modelos estudados, exceto para o grupo de administração dose única de 2000 mg/kg via intraperitoneal do composto Lapdesf ibu-tau.

O objetivo deste estudo é buscar compreender aspectos do trabalho experimental no ensino de Física no Brasil no passado, focalizando um instrumento antigo - o tubo de Newton. Considerando que a partir da Reforma Francisco Campos, em 1931, houve uma expansão do ensino secundário brasileiro e um aumento da presença de disciplinas científicas no currículo desse curso, examinamos as recomendações oficiais para o ensino de Física de 1931até 1961, quando foi promulgada a primeira Lei de Diretrizes e Bases da Educação Nacional. Procuramos investigar como o uso do tubo de Newton aparece em livros didáticos de Física para a educação secundária, editados em nosso país, no período delimitado. Em nossas conclusões consideramos que o conhecimento histórico pode ajudar a compreender aspectos relevantes a respeito do papel da experimentação no ensino de Física em nossos dias.

The aim of this paper is to offer an essay of synchronous translation poetics, based on the theoretic thought of Haroldo de Campos and Antoine Berman, which highlight the relevance of translation history in the work of contemporary translators. For this purpose, starting from a close-reading of the first seven Latin hexameters of Lucan’s Pharsalia, I present a comparative study of the translations of Filinto Elisio (18th century), José Feliciano de Castilho (19th century) and Vieira (2011).

To evaluate the surface roughness and Vickers hardness of glass ionomer cements Ketac Molar® and Ketac Molar Easy Mix® (ESPE Dental AG) after brushing. Methods – After roughness and hardness tests of 14 specimens of each material, they were submitted to 30,000 brushing cycles and new analysis of roughness and hardness. Statistical analysis showed that there was no significant difference between the materials in relation to the initial roughness. Results – However, after brushing there was higher surface roughness for Ketac Molar Easy Mix®. For both materials, there was increase of hardness after brushing and the highest values were presented by Ketac Molar Easy Mix®. Conclusion – It can be concluded that, when choosing a glass ionomer cement for restoration it should be preferred to Ketac Molar, because it showed hardness similar to Ketac Molar Easy Mix, but it was less rough.

In 1954, it was celebrated the centenary of railways in Brazil. The date refers to the first section of 14.5 km of railway in Brazil (30/04/1854), in Rio de Janeiro, between Mauá and Fragoso, of the Petropolis Railway Company (Estrada de Ferro Petrópolis). Some of the texts and commemorative events indicated the symbolic values that the railroad took in the Brazilian history. Firstly, on 30.04.1954, the railway section Mauá-Fragoso and steam locomotive “Baroness” (the first used on the track) were declared national monuments(Decree No. 35,447-A, April 30, 1954). Secondly, some entities (Clube de Engenharia, Conselho Nacional de Geografia, Ministério da Viação e Obras Públicas) highlighted the importance of celebrating the Brazilian railway history and its historical significance, economic and geographical. For this, some events was occurred (the commemoration of one hundred years in Rio de Janeiro and Recife on 30.04.1954). Among the texts wrought produced, we highlight the text I Centenary of Brazilian Railroad (1954), released by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística), and the National Council of Geography (Conselho Nacional de Geografia). The emphasis given to the railway refersto the geographical perspective (territorial expansion), but also makes mention of the Barãode Mauá, the founder of Petropolis Railway Company. We aim to understand the celebration from evocations about the Brazilian railroad history and some ideas that is assigned to the railway (and the Barãode Mauá), and railway heritage (the track and the locomotive “Baroneza”). On basis of this review will seek to understand how it was reconceived the railroad memory in view of these values and material elements.
