Projektin onnistumisen kokonaisvaltainen määrittäminen tietojärjestelmätoimitusprojekteissa

Tämän työn tavoitteena on kehittää Basware Finlandille ohjelmistoprojektien onnistumisen arviointiin menetelmä, jolla yritys saa tietoonsa ovatko sen toimittamat järjestelmät todella saavuttaneet asiakkaan projektille asettamat tavoitteet. Työn lähtökohtana on kattava projektin onnistumista koskevan kirjallisuuden tutkiminen ja tämän pohjalta luotava malli projektien onnistumisen mittaamiseen vaikuttavista tekijöistä. Kyseisessä mallissa osoitetaan mitkä tekijät vaikuttavat oleellisesti projektin onnistumisen seurannan suorittamiseen sekä miten projekteja suorittavan organisaation tulisi lähteä kehittämään projektien onnistumisen arviointijärjestelmää. Työn varsinaisena tuloksena syntyi menetelmä, jonka avulla Basware voi seurata toimittamiensa tietojärjestelmäprojektien onnistumista asiakasnäkökulmasta. Lisäksi työssä analysoitiin ja esitettiin tämän perusteella parannusehdotuksia Baswaren tällä hetkellä käyttämää projektipalautekyselyyn.

Tietojärjestelmäinvestoinnin jälkitarkkailumalli

Tämän työn ensisijaisena tavoitteena oli kehittää tietojärjestelmähankkeiden investointiprosessia luomalla kohdeyritykseen yhtenäinen toimintatapa hankkeiden jälkitarkkailuun. Tavoiteltu muutos koskee järjestelmäinvestointien arviointiperusteita sekä niiden käyttöönoton jälkeistä seurantaa. Jälkitarkkailumalli on rakennettu tasapainotettujen mittaristojen viitekehyksestä mittaamalla onnistumista johdon, loppukäyttäjän sekä projektin näkökulmasta. Työn tuloksena on Excel -sovellus sekä toimintatapa sovelluksen käytölle. Esimerkki-investoinnista kerätyn kokemuksen perusteella malli tukee investointiin liittyvien sidosryhmien sitoutumista yhteisiin tavoitteisiin sekä selkeyttää roolijakoa IT - vetoisen projektiryhmän ja yrityksen liiketoiminnallisen johdon välillä. Lisäksi mallin koettiin tukevan käyttöönotetun järjestelmän tavoitelähtöistä johtamista. Käytön laajentuessa mallilla uskotaan olevan yksittäistenhankkeiden lisäksi positiivinen vaikutus myös yrityksen tietojärjestelmähankkeiden investointiprosessiin.

Investointiprosessin arviointi ja kehittäminen: tuotannollisten hankkeiden kannattavuus

Työn päätavoitteena on tutkia investointiprosessin toimivuutta. Työssä selvitetään, mitä lisätietoja päätöksentekijät tarvitsevat investointien valinnassa. Työssä tarkastellaan investointien kannattavuuden arviointia, projektien valintaa ja valintaan vaikuttavia tekijöitä. Myös investoinnin toteutuksen jälkeistä tarkkailua tutkitaan. Työ on tehty kohdeyrityksen eri tehtaiden investointikäytäntöjen yhdistämisen avuksi. Työssä tarkastellaan yrityksennykyisiä käytäntöjä ohjeiden, haastattelujen ja tapaustutkimuksen kautta. Tutkimuksen tuloksena selvisi, että investointien arviointikäytäntöjä olisi kehitettävä. Vain suurilta investointiprojekteilta vaaditaan tarkat suunnitelmat ja laskelmat. Nykyisen takaisinmaksuajan menetelmän rinnalle tulisi ottaa käyttöön rahan aika-arvon huomioon ottava menetelmä, kuten sisäisen koron menetelmä. Riskienhallinnassa olisi vielä otettava huomioon kustannuksiin ja markkinoiden muutosherkkyyteen liittyvät riskit. Kun suunnittelu saadaan kuntoon, seuraavana tärkeänä kehittämiskohteena olisi investoinnin jälkeisen tarkkailun lisääminen investointiprosessiin.

Model based study of a calcium oxide looping process for post-combustion carbon dioxide capture

Calcium oxide looping is a carbon dioxide sequestration technique that utilizes the partially reversible reaction between limestone and carbon dioxide in two interconnected fluidised beds, carbonator and calciner. Flue gases from a combustor are fed into the carbonator where calcium oxide reacts with carbon dioxide within the gases at a temperature of 650 ºC. Calcium oxide is transformed into calcium carbonate which is circulated into the regenerative calciner, where calcium carbonate is returned into calcium oxide and a stream of pure carbon dioxide at a higher temperature of 950 ºC. Calcium oxide looping has proved to have a low impact on the overall process efficiency and would be easily retrofitted into existing power plants. This master’s thesis is done in participation to an EU funded project CaOling as a part of the Lappeenranta University of Technology deliverable, reactor modelling and scale-up tools. Thesis concentrates in creating the first model frame and finding the physically relevant phenomena governing the process.

Modelling of calciner in post-combustion carbon capture process

Climate change has given an impetus to research and developed new technologies to reduce significantly carbon dioxide emissions in energy production in the developed countries. The major pollution source, fossil fuels, will be used as an energy source for many decades, which provides the demand for carbon capture and storage technologies. Over recent years many new technologies has been developed and one of the most promising is calcium-looping in post-combustion carbon capture process, which use carbonation-calcination cycle to capture carbon dioxide from the flue gas of a combustion process. First pilot plant for calcium-looping process has been built in Oviedo, Spain. In this study, a three-dimensional model has been created for the calciner, which is one of the two fluidized bed reactors needed for the process. The calciner is a regenerator where the captured carbon dioxide is removed from the calcium material and then collected after the reactor. Thesis concentrates in creating the calciner 3D-model frame with CFB3D-program and testing the model with two different example cases. Used input parameters and calciner geometry are Oviedo pilot plant design parameters. The calculation results give information about the process and show that pilot plant calciner should perform as planned. This Master’s Thesis is done in participation to EU FP7 project CaOling.

Study of the advancement of innovations in communications industry. Case study: Russian Post Company

This study attempted to provide a project based on the already tested and successful results of foreign business which can help to contain the final price of innovation on desired levels. The research will attempt to dig out most of available information related to aforementioned definitions and thus completing theoretical background. Next author will explain used methodology and the process of evidence collection. After that the study will show the analysis of collected data in order to obtain results which are going to be compared with stated objectives in the final part. The conclusion of the research and proposed possibilities for additional work will be given in the last part. For this study author has chosen the qualitative model because it performs very well for analysis of small scale of data. The case study method was used because it gave author an opportunity to make an in-depth analysis of the collected information about particular organization so it became possible to analyze system's details in comparison. The results have been early considered valid and applicable to other studies. As the result thesis has proposed undertakings which reflect researches aimed on solving problems with provision of services and development of communications. In addition thesis has proposed formulation of database of postal service for Russian Post when (by request) customer possess an account where he or she can access postal services via PC or info table in postal office and order delivery of postal products which will be given private identification code. Project's payoff period has been calculated as well.

The advancement of innovations in communications industry: A case study of Russian Post company

The purpose of this study is to provide a project aimed on solving the problem of advancement of innovations for Russian Post company that is the main actor on the Russian postal service market. This project is constructed through gathering and scrutinizing two essential informational packages, with first being precise information about Russian Post business processes and structure in order to find out the weak spots and hindering forces, and the second being benchmarking analysis of product and service portfolio of company's peers in Europe and Australia in order to evaluate existing experience and gather additional sources that can facilitate the advancement of innovations. These informational packages are studied and sent through the matrix analysis that must highlight customer and technical requirements which emphasize the innovativeness and problem-solving purpose of the project and lay stress on the assuring characteristics that must to be met in order to advance the project. The project itself is aimed on providing Russian Post company with several solutions, both managerial and engineering, which are aimed on easing problem-solving processes and lay the foundation for continuous innovation and value increase for Russian Post company, its partners and its customers. Project's payback period is been calculated as well.
