El proyecto consiste en la realización de un juego online para la consola de Microsoft Xbox 360 titulado IceFire. El videojuego pertenece al género de los MOBA y permitirá a los usuarios jugar de forma offline en el modo práctica pero tambien en un modo online donde crear o unirse a salas de juego donde empezar partidas en las que podrán elegir entre dos personajes distintos con sus habilidades propias y enfrentarse con su rival.

El presente proyecto consiste en la creación de un videojuego sencillo para la consola Xbox 360. Se trata de un “Shoot'em up” o juego de naves, en el que deberemos ir esquivando y matando a nuestros enemigos. Todo esto ha sido posible gracias a las librerías XNA que permiten crear código en C# que la consola Xbox 360 puede leer. Así pues, disponemos de una pantalla de presentación, un menú principal, una pantalla con tres oleadas distintas de enemigos y un jefe final y un selector de idiomas y otro de dificultades. Todo esto creado en un entorno que mezcla el espacio y la música para darle una estética única y una identidad propia.

Aquest projecte documenta la realització d'un videojoc anomenat TriviaRace per a la consola Xbox 360. Els jugadors han de competir per ser els primers en arribar al final de l'escenari i contestar correctament a una pregunta que se'ls formula. Per arribar-hi abans que els seus contrincants, poden utilitzar objectes per a molestar-los. Poden jugar 4 jugadors simultàniament, ja siguin controlats per persones reals o per la consola, mitjançant una senzilla intel·ligència artificial. El desenvolupament del joc s'ha realitzat mitjançant XNA, unes eines de Microsoft orientades a la creació de videojocs per a vàries plataformes, inclosa la consola Xbox 360.

Así como hay una larga tradición en avaluar conocimientos a través de pruebas de papel y lápiz, en la evaluación de competencias todavía queda un largo camino que recorrer para lograr evidencias satisfactorias. El Grup Consolidat d’Innovació Docent de Mineralogia i òptica cristal·lina de la Universitat de Barcelona ha desenvolupat un CD interactiu que simula el funcionament d’un microscopi petrogràfic, per tal de facilitar a l’alumne un material d’autoaprenentatge, ha de servir per a reforçar els coneixements dels minerals formadors de roques en làmina prima. Aquest material te tres entrades diferents, en català, castellà i anglès. Cada mineral té una fitxa general amb les seves propietats òptiques i una complementaria amb les característiques cristal·logràfiques, camp d’estabilitat, diagrames de fases i característiques morfològiques del mineral a observar, les quals marquen els trets determinatius d’aquell mineral per tal de facilitar el seu reconeixement. Per tal de complementar les dades s’han introduït links directes amb la planes web: “webmineral” i “mindat” on hi ha les corresponents estructures i morfologies “interactives” de cadascun dels minerals que apareixen en el programa. En l’aplicació informàtica hi ha 169 filmacions corresponents a 43 dels principals minerals que formen les roques, una filmació correspon a la imatge només amb el polaritzador, i l'altre a la imatge amb el polaritzador més l'analitzador. Cadascuna d'aquestes imatges es presenta amb un gir de 360º; es pot aturar i després continuar girant, simulant el que veuríem al microscopi. D'aquesta manera es pot determinar el pleocroisme, la presència de macles, el color d'interferència i l'angle d'extinció.. S’ha intentat sempre que hi hagués diferents exemples d’un mateix mineral en diverses paragènesis. També s'incorpora una fitxa que l'usuari pot omplir amb les característiques texturals i òptiques del mineral agrupades segons les observacions que es fan, bé amb el polaritzador, amb el polaritzador i l'analitzador o bé amb les condicions específiques per veure la figura d'interferència i el signe òptic. Aquesta fitxa, un cop plena, es pot imprimir. En tot moment hi ha un menú d’ajuda on l’usuari pot remetre i fer la consulta adient per poder continuar.

We present a computer vision system that associates omnidirectional vision with structured light with the aim of obtaining depth information for a 360 degrees field of view. The approach proposed in this article combines an omnidirectional camera with a panoramic laser projector. The article shows how the sensor is modelled and its accuracy is proved by means of experimental results. The proposed sensor provides useful information for robot navigation applications, pipe inspection, 3D scene modelling etc

There is almost not a case in exploration geology, where the studied data doesn’tincludes below detection limits and/or zero values, and since most of the geological dataresponds to lognormal distributions, these “zero data” represent a mathematicalchallenge for the interpretation.We need to start by recognizing that there are zero values in geology. For example theamount of quartz in a foyaite (nepheline syenite) is zero, since quartz cannot co-existswith nepheline. Another common essential zero is a North azimuth, however we canalways change that zero for the value of 360°. These are known as “Essential zeros”, butwhat can we do with “Rounded zeros” that are the result of below the detection limit ofthe equipment?Amalgamation, e.g. adding Na2O and K2O, as total alkalis is a solution, but sometimeswe need to differentiate between a sodic and a potassic alteration. Pre-classification intogroups requires a good knowledge of the distribution of the data and the geochemicalcharacteristics of the groups which is not always available. Considering the zero valuesequal to the limit of detection of the used equipment will generate spuriousdistributions, especially in ternary diagrams. Same situation will occur if we replace thezero values by a small amount using non-parametric or parametric techniques(imputation).The method that we are proposing takes into consideration the well known relationshipsbetween some elements. For example, in copper porphyry deposits, there is always agood direct correlation between the copper values and the molybdenum ones, but whilecopper will always be above the limit of detection, many of the molybdenum values willbe “rounded zeros”. So, we will take the lower quartile of the real molybdenum valuesand establish a regression equation with copper, and then we will estimate the“rounded” zero values of molybdenum by their corresponding copper values.The method could be applied to any type of data, provided we establish first theircorrelation dependency.One of the main advantages of this method is that we do not obtain a fixed value for the“rounded zeros”, but one that depends on the value of the other variable.Key words: compositional data analysis, treatment of zeros, essential zeros, roundedzeros, correlation dependency

Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) was used to study the dehydrogenation processes that take place in three hydrogenated amorphous silicon materials: nanoparticles, polymorphous silicon, and conventional device-quality amorphous silicon. Comparison of DSC thermograms with evolved gas analysis (EGA) has led to the identification of four dehydrogenation processes arising from polymeric chains (A), SiH groups at the surfaces of internal voids (A'), SiH groups at interfaces (B), and in the bulk (C). All of them are slightly exothermic with enthalpies below 50 meV/H atoms , indicating that, after dissociation of any SiH group, most dangling bonds recombine. The kinetics of the three low-temperature processes [with DSC peak temperatures at around 320 (A),360 (A'), and 430°C (B)] exhibit a kinetic-compensation effect characterized by a linea relationship between the activation entropy and enthalpy, which constitutes their signature. Their Si-H bond-dissociation energies have been determined to be E (Si-H)0=3.14 (A), 3.19 (A'), and 3.28 eV (B). In these cases it was possible to extract the formation energy E(DB) of the dangling bonds that recombine after Si-H bond breaking [0.97 (A), 1.05 (A'), and 1.12 (B)]. It is concluded that E(DB) increases with the degree of confinement and that E(DB)>1.10 eV for the isolated dangling bond in the bulk. After Si-H dissociation and for the low-temperature processes, hydrogen is transported in molecular form and a low relaxation of the silicon network is promoted. This is in contrast to the high-temperature process for which the diffusion of H in atomic form induces a substantial lattice relaxation that, for the conventional amorphous sample, releases energy of around 600 meV per H atom. It is argued that the density of sites in the Si network for H trapping diminishes during atomic diffusion

This paper reviews the recent literature on monetary policy rules. We exposit the monetary policy design problem within a simple baselinetheoretical framework. We then consider the implications of adding various real world complications. Among other things, we show that the optimal policy implicitly incorporates inflation targeting. Wealso characterize the gains from making credible commitments to fightinflation. In contrast to conventional wisdom, we show that gains from commitment may emerge even in the central bank is not trying toinadvisedly push output above its natural level. We also consider theimplications of frictions such as imperfect information.

Can dicha modificación se pasa de una capacidad de 100 K a 81 K, pudiendo ser ejecutada en el ordenador IBM 360/30 de que dispone la Facultad de Ciencias de la Universidad de Barcelona.

The coupling between topography, waves and currents in the surf zone may selforganize to produce the formation of shore-transverse or shore-oblique sand bars on an otherwise alongshore uniform beach. In the absence of shore-parallel bars, this has been shown by previous studies of linear stability analysis, but is now extended to the finite-amplitude regime. To this end, a nonlinear model coupling wave transformation and breaking, a shallow-water equations solver, sediment transport and bed updating is developed. The sediment flux consists of a stirring factor multiplied by the depthaveraged current plus a downslope correction. It is found that the cross-shore profile of the ratio of stirring factor to water depth together with the wave incidence angle primarily determine the shape and the type of bars, either transverse or oblique to the shore. In the latter case, they can open an acute angle against the current (upcurrent oriented) or with the current (down-current oriented). At the initial stages of development, both the intensity of the instability which is responsible for the formation of the bars and the damping due to downslope transport grow at a similar rate with bar amplitude, the former being somewhat stronger. As bars keep on growing, their finite-amplitude shape either enhances downslope transport or weakens the instability mechanism so that an equilibrium between both opposing tendencies occurs, leading to a final saturated amplitude. The overall shape of the saturated bars in plan view is similar to that of the small-amplitude ones. However, the final spacings may be up to a factor of 2 larger and final celerities can also be about a factor of 2 smaller or larger. In the case of alongshore migrating bars, the asymmetry of the longshore sections, the lee being steeper than the stoss, is well reproduced. Complex dynamics with merging and splitting of individual bars sometimes occur. Finally, in the case of shore-normal incidence the rip currents in the troughs between the bars are jet-like while the onshore return flow is wider and weaker as is observed in nature.

Purpose: To assess the feasibility of a method based on microwave spectrometry to detect structural distortions of metallic stents in open air conditions and envisage the prospects of this approach toward possible medical applicability for the evaluation of implanted stents. Methods: Microwave absorbance spectra between 2.0 and 18.0 GHz were acquired in open air for the characterization of a set of commercial stents using a specifically design setup. Rotating each sample over 360º, 2D absorbance diagrams were generated as a function of frequency and rotation angle. To check our approach for detecting changes in stent length (fracture) and diameter (recoil), two specific tests were performed in open air. Finally, with a few adjustments, this same system provides 2D absorbance diagrams of stents immersed in a water-based phantom, this time over a bandwidth ranging from 0.2 to 1.8 GHz. Results: The authors show that metallic stents exhibit characteristic resonant frequencies in their microwave absorbance spectra in open air which depend on their length and, as a result, may reflect the occurrence of structural distortions. These resonances can be understood considering that such devices behave like dipole antennas in terms of microwave scattering. From fracture tests, the authors infer that microwave spectrometry provides signs of presence of Type I to Type IV stent fractures and allows in particular a quantitative evaluation of Type III and Type IV fractures. Recoil tests show that microwave spectrometry seems able to provide some quantitative assessment of diametrical shrinkage, but only if it involves longitudinal shortening. Finally, the authors observe that the resonant frequencies of stents placed inside the phantom shift down with respect to the corresponding open air frequencies, as it should be expected considering the increase of dielectric permittivity from air to water. Conclusions: The evaluation of stent resonant frequencies provided by microwave spectrometry allows detection and some quantitative assessment of stent fracture and recoil in open air conditions. Resonances of stents immersed in water can be also detected and their characteristic frequencies are in good agreement with theoretical estimates. Although these are promising results, further verifica tion in a more relevant phantom is required in order to foresee the real potential of this approach.
