Resumo:
Communities of Practice are places which provide a sound basis for organizational learning, enabling knowledge creation and acquisition thus improving organizational performance, leveraging innovation and consequently increasing competitively. Virtual Communities of Practice (VCoP‟s) can perform a central role in promoting communication and collaboration between members who are dispersed in both time and space. The ongoing case study, described here, aims to identify both the motivations and the constraints that members of an organization experience when taking part in the knowledge creating processes of the VCoP‟s to which they belong. Based on a literature review, we have identified several factors that influence such processes; they will be used to analyse the results of interviews carried out with the leaders of VCoP‟s in four multinationals. As future work, a questionnaire will be developed and administered to the other members of these VCoP‟s

As comunidades de prática constituem um espaço privilegiado de interacção entre os seus membros, promovendo a aprendizagem e a partilha de conhecimento. Sendo esta última uma condição crítica de sucesso para a promoção da inovação, revela-se, pois, crucial, compreender os factores organizacionais que poderão condicionar esta partilha, inibindo-a ou potenciando-a. Assim, nesta comunicação começa-se por evidenciar a evolução do conceito de comunidade de prática (CdP), o seu modo de funcionamento e as suas características, dando-se algum enfoque às comunidades mediadas através de dispositivos electrónicos – as e-CdP ou comunidades digitais. Segue-se a descrição de alguns dos factores que podem condicionar a partilha de conhecimento. Apresentam-se, também, os benefícios e os inconvenientes das CdP para as organizações, bem como algumas recomendações para que estas possam usufruir do potencial relacionado com aquelas comunidades no sentido de promoverem o respectivo sucesso e a inovação.

With accelerated market volatility, faster response times and increased globalization, business environments are going through a major transformation and firms have intensified their search for strategies which can give them competitive advantage. This requires that companies continuously innovate, to think of new ideas that can be transformed or implemented as products, processes or services, generating value for the firm. Innovative solutions and processes are usually developed by a group of people, working together. A grouping of people that share and create new knowledge can be considered as a Community of Practice (CoP). CoP’s are places which provide a sound basis for organizational learning and encourage knowledge creation and acquisition. Virtual Communities of Practice (VCoP's) can perform a central role in promoting communication and collaboration between members who are dispersed in both time and space. Nevertheless, it is known that not all CoP's and VCoP's share the same levels of performance or produce the same results. This means that there are factors that enable or constrain the process of knowledge creation. With this in mind, we developed a case study in order to identify both the motivations and the constraints that members of an organization experience when taking part in the knowledge creating processes of VCoP's. Results show that organizational culture and professional and personal development play an important role in these processes. No interviewee referred to direct financial rewards as a motivation factor for participation in VCoPs. Most identified the difficulty in aligning objectives established by the management with justification for the time spent in the VCoP. The interviewees also said that technology is not a constraint.

Antibodies against gliadin are used to detect celiac disease (CD) in patients. An electrochemical immunosensor for the voltammetric detection of human anti-gliadin antibodies (AGA) IgA and AGA IgG in real serum samples is proposed. The transducer surface consists of screen-printed carbon electrodes modified with a carbon nanotube/gold nanoparticle hybrid system, which provides a very useful surface for the amplification of the immunological interactions. The immunosensing strategy is based on the immobilization of gliadin, the antigen for the autoantibodies of interest, onto the nanostructured surface. The antigen–antibody interaction is recorded using alkaline phosphatase labeled anti-human antibodies and a mixture of 3-indoxyl phosphate with silver ions (3-IP/Ag+) was used as the substrate. The analytical signal is based on the anodic redissolution of the enzymatically generated silver by cyclic voltammetry. The electrochemical behavior of this immunosensor was carefully evaluated assessing aspects as sensitivity, non-specific binding and matrix effects, and repeatability and reproducibility. The results were supported with a commercial ELISA test.

Deste "Primeiro Acto" fazem parte algumas das músicas que fui compondo para peças de teatro ao longo de vários anos. Como é evidente, a música de cena coexiste com a imagem e representação teatral e a elas está ligada duma forma inseparável. Contudo, pretendo que algumas das músicas possam ter autonomia suficiente para se apresentarem sozinhas como peças musicais independentes. Tal foi o propósito deste disco. A escolha dos trechos de música obedeceu a um critério musical e dramático que vagamente jogasse com dois mundos: a cidade e o circo. Passados cinco anos do lançamento do CD fui convidado pela Direcção do Festival Internacional de Teatro de Expressão Ibérica – FITEI para conceber e realizar um espectáculo, para o FITEI – 2005, com músicas e canções que fui fazendo para teatro ao longo dos anos. Servindo-me como base das músicas deste CD, juntando outras, e escrevendo um guião cénico de ligação das várias músicas, com novos arranjos instrumentais, juntaram-se dez músicos, quatro cantores e quatro bailarinos para realizar esse espectáculo que, além da sua estreia em 2005 no Teatro Rivoli, no Porto, foi apresentado também nas comemorações do Dia Mundial de Teatro de 2006 no Teatro Nacional D. Maria II. Os trechos musicais escolhidos fizeram parte dos seguintes espectáculos: "Hoje começa o Circo" de João Lóio, encenado por João Mota, pelo Grupo de Teatro Roda Viva, Porto,1978; "Mais um Dia", espectáculo musical de João Lóio, Porto,1987; "Dança de Roda" de Arthur Schnitzler, encenado por João Paulo Costa, pelo Grupo de Teatro " Os Comediantes", Porto, 1990; "Um certo Plume" de Henri Michaux, encenado por Adriano Luz no Teatro da Cornucópia, Lisboa, 1993; "Aurélio da Paz dos Reis", filme realizado por Manuel Faria de Almeida, Lisboa, 1995; "Edmond" de David Mamet, encenado por Adriano Luz no Teatro Nacional D. Electroanalytical methods based on square-wave adsorptive-stripping voltammetry (SWAdSV) and flow-injection analysis with square-wave adsorptive-stripping voltammetric detection (FIA-SWAdSV) were developed for the determination of fluoxetine (FXT). The methods were based on the reduction of FXT at a mercury drop electrode at -1.2 V versus Ag/AgCl, in a phosphate buffer of pH 12.0, and on the possibility of accumulating the compound at the electrode surface. The SWAdSV method was successfully applied in the quantification of FXT in pharmaceutical products, human serum samples, and in drug dissolution studies. Because the presence of dissolved oxygen did not interfere significantly with the analysis, it was possible to quantify FXT in several pharmaceutical products using FIA-SWAdSV. This method enables analysis of up to 120 samples per hour at reduced costs.

Fluvoxamine (FVX) can be reduced at a mercury- drop electrode, with a maximum peak current intensity being obtained at a potential of -0.7 V vs. Ag/ AgCl, in an aqueous electrolyte solution of pH 2. The compound was determined in a pharmaceutical product and in spiked human serum by square-wave adsorptivestripping voltammetry (SWAdSV) after accumulation at the electrode surface, under batch conditions. Because the presence of dissolved oxygen did not interfere significantly with the analysis, it was also possible to determine FVX in the pharmaceutical product by use of a flow-injection analysis (FIA) system with SWAdSV detection. The methods developed were validated and successfully applied to the quantification of FVX in a pharmaceutical product. Recoveries between 76 and 89% were obtained in serum analysis. The FIA– SWAdSV method enabled analysis of up to 120 samples per hour at reduced cost, implying the possibility of competing with the chromatographic methods usually used for this analysis.

Celiac disease (CD) is an autoimmune enteropathy, characterized by an inappropriate T-cell-mediated immune response to the ingestion of certain dietary cereal proteins in genetically susceptible individuals. This disorder presents environmental, genetic, and immunological components. CD presents a prevalence of up to 1% in populations of European ancestry, yet a high percentage of cases remain underdiagnosed. The diagnosis and treatment should be made early since untreated disease causes growth retardation and atypical symptoms, like infertility or neurological disorders. The diagnostic criteria for CD, which requires endoscopy with small bowel biopsy, have been changing over the last few decades, especially due to the advent of serological tests with higher sensitivity and specificity. The use of serological markers can be very useful to rule out clinical suspicious cases and also to help monitor the patients, after adherence to a gluten-free diet. Since the current treatment consists of a life-long glutenfree diet, which leads to significant clinical and histological improvement, the standardization of an assay to assess in an unequivocal way gluten in gluten-free foodstuff is of major importance.

O relatório de estágio de qualificação profissional desenvolveu-se no âmbito da Unidade Curricular (UC) de Prática Pedagógica Supervisionada, inserida no Mestrado em Educação Pré- Escolar, nos contextos de creche e pré-escolar. Esta integração implicou a mestranda numa atitude investigativa, traduzida no aprofundamento dos referenciais teóricos abordados na referida UC, que permitiu desenvolver uma atitude indagadora e reflexiva, de modo a aliar saberes teóricos à prática e mobilizá-los em contexto. Efetivando a sua prática pedagógica através da observação, recolha de dados, análise sistemática da ação e reflexão crítica permanente, apoiou-se na metodologia de investigaçãoação, que segundo Elliot (1991) constitui um processo reflexivo, que envolve a mudança de teorias e práticas, permitindo ligar a autoavaliação ao desenvolvimento profissional. A prática pedagógica revista neste documento parte da convicção da mestranda relativamente à importância da observação, na mesma perspetiva de Gonçalves (2006): “se soubermos observar, saberemos compreender, se soubermos compreender, saberemos intervir e se soubermos intervir, saberemos melhorar, estaremos a conferir ao exercício de observação e análise da relação educativa o seu verdadeiro estatuto de instrumento de desenvolvimento pessoal/profissional do formando” (p.72). Foi assim que a mestranda solidificou a construção da sua imagem de criança, encarando-a como ativa e competente, almejando que essa visão se refletisse nas suas planificações, que identificavam necessidades e interesses das crianças, e consequentemente na sua ação. A co construção de saberes e a cooperação assumiram particular relevância no processo de formação e desenvolvimento profissional, proporcionado pelos intervenientes no contexto educativo: par de formação, educadoras, supervisora, pais e comunidade.

The aim of this study was to develop and validate a Portuguese version of the Short Form of the Posttraumatic Growth Inventory (PTGI-SF). Using an online convenience sample of Portuguese divorced adults (N = 482), we confirmed the oblique five-factor structure of the PTGI-SF by confirmatory factor analysis. The results demonstrated the measurement invariance across divorce initiator status groups. Total score and factors of PTGI-SF showed good internal consistency, with the exception of the New Possibilities factor, which revealed an acceptable reliability. The Portuguese PTGI-SF showed a satisfactory convergent validity. In terms of discriminant validity, posttraumatic growth assessed by the Portuguese PTGI-SF was a distinct factor from posttraumatic psychological adjustment. These preliminary findings suggest the cultural adaptation and also psychometric properties of the present Portuguese PTGI-SF to measure posttraumatic growth after personal crisis.

This article presents a work-in-progress version of a Dublin Core Application Profile (DCAP) developed to serve the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE). Studies revealed that this community is interested in implementing both internal interoperability between their Web platforms to build a global SSE e-marketplace, and external interoperability among their Web platforms and external ones. The Dublin Core Application Profile for Social and Solidarity Economy (DCAP-SSE) serves this purpose. SSE organisations are submerged in the market economy but they have specificities not taken into account in this economy. The DCAP-SSE integrates terms from well-known metadata schemas, Resource Description Framework (RDF) vocabularies or ontologies, in order to enhance interoperability and take advantage of the benefits of the Linked Open Data ecosystem. It also integrates terms from the new essglobal RDF vocabulary which was created with the goal to respond to the SSE-specific needs. The DCAP-SSE also integrates five new Vocabulary Encoding Schemes to be used with DCAP-SSE properties. The DCAP development was based on a method for the development of application profiles (Me4MAP). We believe that this article has an educational value since it presents the idea that it is important to base DCAP developments on a method. This article shows the main results of applying such a method.
