Special identities for Bol algebras

Bol algebras appear as the tangent algebra of Bol loops. A (left) Bol algebra is a vector space equipped with a binary operation [a, b] and a ternary operation {a, b, c} that satisfy five defining identities. If A is a left or right alternative algebra then A(b) is a Bol algebra, where [a, b] := ab - ba is the commutator and {a, b, c} := < b, c, a > is the Jordan associator. A special identity is an identity satisfied by Ab for all right alternative algebras A, but not satisfied by the free Bol algebra. We show that there are no special identities of degree <= 7, but there are special identities of degree 8. We obtain all the special identities of degree 8 in partition six-two. Miniversal deformations of matrices of bilinear forms

Arnold [V.I. Arnold, On matrices depending on parameters, Russian Math. Surveys 26 (2) (1971) 29-43] constructed miniversal deformations of square complex matrices under similarity; that is, a simple normal form to which not only a given square matrix A but all matrices B close to it can be reduced by similarity transformations that smoothly depend on the entries of B. ON THE RADICAL OF A FREE MALCEV ALGEBRA

We prove that the prime radical rad M of the free Malcev algebra M of rank more than two over a field of characteristic not equal 2 coincides with the set of all universally Engelian elements of M. Moreover, let T(M) be the ideal of M consisting of all stable identities of the split simple 7-dimensional Malcev algebra M over F. It is proved that rad M = J(M) boolean AND T(M), where J(M) is the Jacobian ideal of M. Similar results were proved by I. Shestakov and E. Zelmanov for free alternative and free Jordan algebras.

On delta-derivations of n-ary algebras

We give a description of delta-derivations of (n + 1)-dimensional n-ary Filippov algebras and, as a consequence, of simple finite-dimensional Filippov algebras over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. We also give new examples of non-trivial delta-derivations of Filippov algebras and show that there are no non-trivial delta-derivations of the simple ternary Mal'tsev algebra M-8.

delta-Superderivations of Semisimple Finite-Dimensional Jordan Superalgebras

In the paper, a complete description of the delta-derivations and the delta-superderivations of semisimple finite-dimensional Jordan superalgebras over an algebraically closed field of characteristic p not equal 2 is given. In particular, new examples of nontrivial (1/2)-derivations and odd (1/2)-superderivations are given that are not operators of right multiplication by an element of the superalgebra.

Multiparameter twisted Weyl algebras

We introduce a new family of twisted generalized Weyl algebras, called multiparameter twisted Weyl algebras, for which we parametrize all simple quotients of a certain kind. Both Jordan's simple localization of the multiparameter quantized Weyl algebra and Hayashi's q-analog of the Weyl algebra are special cases of this construction. We classify all simple weight modules over any multiparameter twisted Weyl algebra. Extending results by Benkart and Ondrus, we also describe all Whittaker pairs up to isomorphism over a class of twisted generalized Weyl algebras which includes the multiparameter twisted Weyl algebras. THE INFLUENCE OF THE 1992-1993 EL NINO ON THE REPRODUCTIVE BIOLOGY OF Scomber japonicus peruanus (JORDAN & HUBB, 1925)

The influence of the 1992-1993 El Nino events on the reproductive behavior of the Scomber japonicus peruanus (Chub mackerel) was studied from samples collected monthly, along the Peruvian coast (3 degrees 23`S-14 degrees 00`S), from January 1990 to December 1993. The monthly variation of the gonadosomatic index and the frequency of the periods of gonad maturation evidenced that the spawning of the species occurred all year long, being more intense in summer. The values of the gonadosomatic index were higher during the occurrence of the 1992-1993 El Nino, while the body weight and gonad weight decreased. Regarding the condition factor, its values decreased in females over 35 cm in fork length.

Growth parameters and mortality rate of the Scomber japonicus peruanus (Jordan & Hubb, 1925) along the Peruvian coast, South Pacific

The growth parameters and the mortality rates of the Scomber japonicus peruanus (Chub mackerel) were studied based on monthly data of frequency of fork length classes obtained from commercial landings off the Peruvian coast from 1996 to 1998. The asymptotic body length and growth rate values obtained by the ELEFAN I (Electronic Length Frequency Analysis) ranged from 40.20 cm to 42.20 cm and from 0.38 to 0.39, respectively. The oscillation amplitude was 0.60; the Winter point values varied from 0.50 to 0.60 and the performance index from 2.79 to 2.84. The total mortality rate of the Chub mackerel obtained by the linearized catch curve oscillated between 1.68 and 3.35. The rate of fishing mortality varied from 1.16 to 2.78 and the exploitation rate from 0.68 to 0.84. The annual rate of natural mortality estimated by the Pauly`s method ranged from 0.52 to 0.53. The results obtained allow us to conclude that the longevity of the Chub mackerel was slightly over seven years.

Normal Enveloping Algebras

A full characterization is given of ordinary and restricted enveloping algebras which are normal with respect to the principal involution.

Generalizations of Lie Algebras

The generalizations of Lie algebras appeared in the modern mathematics and mathematical physics. In this paper we consider recent developments and remaining open problems on the subject. Some of that developments have been influenced by lectures given by Professor Jaime Keller in his research seminar. The survey includes Lie superalgebras, color Lie algebras, Lie algebras in symmetric categories, free Lie tau-algebras, and some generalizations with non-associative enveloping algebras: tangent algebras to analytic loops, bialgebras and primitive elements, non-associative Hopf algebras.

COMMUTATIVE ALGEBRAS IN DRINFELD CATEGORIES OF ABELIAN LIE ALGEBRAS

We describe (braided-) commutative algebras with non-degenerate multiplicative form in certain braided monoidal categories, corresponding to abelian metric Lie algebras (so-called Drinfeld categories). We also describe local modules over these algebras and classify commutative algebras with a finite number of simple local modules.

FREE GROUP ALGEBRAS IN DIVISION RINGS

Let k be an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero and let L be an algebraic function field over k. Let sigma : L -> L be a k-automorphism of infinite order, and let D be the skew field of fractions of the skew polynomial ring L[t; sigma]. We show that D contains the group algebra kF of the free group F of rank 2.

ON THE CONSISTENCY OF TWISTED GENERALIZED WEYL ALGEBRAS

A twisted generalized Weyl algebra A of degree n depends on a. base algebra R, n commuting automorphisms sigma(i) of R, n central elements t(i) of R and on some additional scalar parameters. In a paper by Mazorchuk and Turowska, it is claimed that certain consistency conditions for sigma(i) and t(i) are sufficient for the algebra to be nontrivial. However, in this paper we give all example which shows that this is false. We also correct the statement by finding a new set of consistency conditions and prove that the old and new conditions together are necessary and sufficient for the base algebra R to map injectively into A. In particular they are sufficient for the algebra A to be nontrivial. We speculate that these consistency relations may play a role in other areas of mathematics, analogous to the role played by the Yang-Baxter equation in the theory of integrable systems.

On simple Lie algebras over a field of characteristic 2

We prove that the simple Lie algebras constructed by G. Jurman (2004) in 121 are isomorphic to Hamiltonian algebras. As a corollary we answer all questions formulated in G. Jurman (2004) [2] about isomorphisms of these algebras. (C) 2012 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Polynomial and Poisson dependence in free Poisson algebras and free Poisson fields

We prove that any two Poisson dependent elements in a free Poisson algebra and a free Poisson field of characteristic zero are algebraically dependent, thus answering positively a question from Makar-Limanov and Umirbaev (2007) [8]. We apply this result to give a new proof of the tameness of automorphisms for free Poisson algebras of rank two (see Makar-Limanov and Umirbaev (2011) [9], Makar-Limanov et al. (2009) [10]).
