OLD NATIONAL BIBLIOGRAPHIC 1830 A 1900 BOOKS FOR THE NATIONAL LIBRARY OF COSTA RICA "Miguel Obreg��n Lizano"

The Final Graduation submitted to qualify for the degree of Bachelor of Library and Information Science, with the title: Old National Bibliographical Books from 1830 to 1900 for the National Library of Costa Rica "Miguel Obregon Lizano," has raised the following objectives general: Identify, create a computerized catalog and investigate policies of conservation, preservation and loan in order to facilitate access and information retrieval, and dissemination of books published between 1830 to 1900 by a CDROM.According to the above objectives are to identify, select and separate, and integrate the National Bibliographical Old Books from 1830 to 1900, under investigation, determined in accordance with this study, a pioneer in the creation of bibliographic old in the National Library of Costa Rica "Miguel Obregon Lizano," a valuable amount of documents, which are not always available to (as) students (as), for lack of disclosure or because they are not represented in catalogs, consistent with recent technology dictates.According to research, it is considered that there is a lack of old collections, and therefore, the concept, organization and creation of such funds, reason leads them to testify that this would be one of the first forays into this subject, and thus, a great contribution to the National Library and for the field of librarianship and the country at large, as it has managed to create a source of access to information for the service (as) users (as): researchers (as), historians (as), anthropologists (as), and the community at large. Therefore, the fundamental purpose of this study the unquestionable usefulness of Old National Bibliographical Books for (as) users (as) researchers (as) of the National Library.

RES��MENES DE LOS TRABAJOS FINALES DE GRADUACI��N 2001

El trabajo final de graduaci��n consisti�� en una pr��ctica dirigida realizada en biblioteca p��blica municipal de bel��n, con el objetivo de elaborar el cat��logo de normalizaci��n de t��rminos, que sirviera de apoyo en el proceso de indizaci��n de los documentos. por tanto, fue necesario la elaboraci��n de un instrumento de control terminol��gico que registrar�� la terminolog��a empleada por la biblioteca y que brindara seguridad en la recuperaci��n de la informaci��n.��La finalidad de este proyecto final de graduaci��n fue dise��ar y crear un instructivo para orientar a los usuarios, en el uso adecuado de los recursos de la biblioteca escolar, facilit��ndoles una inducci��n apropiada mediante la herramienta ���biblioesc���, que significa biblioteca y escuela; elaborada con base en las necesidades de los usuarios, bibliotec��logos y los docentes escolares. contiene: pantallas llamativas con color, v��nculos que gu��an de una pantalla a otra, texto, im��genes y sonidos.

Nuestro Bolet��n No. 4 presenta a Uds. un art��culo extenso sobre recuperaci��n de informaci��n en forma automatizada.La presentaci��n de dicho art��culo coincide con un acontecimiento importante en el campo de la informaci��n documental: la inauguraci��n del primer banco de datos para recuperaci��n de informaci��n en l��nea en la Universidad Nacional. Este banco de datos es el primero de una serie que se construir��n en el Centro de Documentaci��n de la Facultad de Filosof��a y Letras, a partir de los cuales se pretende que la investigaci��n que se realiza d�� un salto cualitativo. A su vez la Unidad de Bibliotecolog��a usar�� una terminal para ense��ar a los estudiantes, mediante una metodolog��a que no tiene precedentes en el pa��s.

Servicios a usuarios: La recuperaci��n de la informaci��n y los lenguajes documentales

En este ��ltimo cuarto de siglo XX lo que fue apenas necesario solo hace diez a��os, hoy es imperioso, trat��ndose de la recuperaci��n de la informaci��n. La inmensa masa de informaci��n que hoy circula en el mundo, rompe toda posibilidad humana, individual o colectiva de abarcarla, de almacenarla y lo m��s importante, de darla a conocer.La forma tradicional de buscar materiales para sacar informaci��n va quedando atr��s, corta ante un c��mulo tan grande de bibliograf��a, general o especializada que hoy se publica.Las bibliotecas que no utilizan t��cnicas modernas para entresacar, de toda esta informaci��n la que le conviene al lector, y siguen manejando documentos con la lentitud con que se manejaron hace un siglo, est��n limitado el servicio, que deben ser din��mico y acorde con los tiempos que se viven, a un servicio que ya no cumple con las necesidades para las cuales fue creado.

Information Literacy in Costa Rican Universities. Viewing Levels of Incorporation from the Information Published on the Websites of their Libraries

Training in information competencies or information literacy is one of the current challenges of university libraries at the possibilities of access to vast information resources that facilitate digital media, which require a better understand and apply the selection and assessment criteria to retrieval the highest quality and relevance of information as needed. In this situation, Ibero-American university libraries (Latin-America, Spain and Portugal) have been slowly incorporating this training either from direct training programs, offered from the library or through collaborative work with teachers and schools in curricula of various universities as a whole or in specific disciplines. In this text, it was identified that, at present, from the information displayed on Web sites of universities-HEI in Costa Rica, a very small percentage of university libraries would find taking actions in a level 1 or 2 of incorporating information literacy, since a large most developed is still very focused programs and processes to the traditional user training, while another large majority, unfortunately, has no action-information about actions from the forming perspective that should be any library.
