激光二极管抽运的全固态激光器中,除了激光介质的温度分布和热透镜效应以外,抽运、冷却结构对获得高光束质量、高功率激光输出至关重要。基于热传导方程,在相同的抽运功率和传导冷却边界条件下,对单侧面抽运锯齿形(zigzag)板条、单侧面键合锯齿形板条、部分抽运板条三种不同抽运结构的温度分布、热致应力、温度导致的折射率变化进行了详细的分析,并通过光线追迹方法,比较了光束在锯齿形面内和垂直于锯齿形面内的光程差,由光程差曲线分析了激光束的热透镜效应。对三种抽运结构的端面温度、端面变形和端面变形导致的光程差也进行了对比分

We demonstrate passive Q-switching of short-length double-clad Tm3+-doped silica fiber lasers near 2 mu m pumped by a laser diode array (LDA) at 790 nm. Polycrystalline Cr2+:ZnSe microchips with thickness from 0.3 to 1 mm are adopted as the Q-switching elements. Pulse duration of 120 ns, pulse energy over 14 mu] and repetition rate of 53 kHz are obtained from a 5-cm long fiber laser. As high as 530 kHz repetition rate is achieved from a 50-cm long fiber laser at similar to 10-W pump power. The performance of the Q-switched fiber lasers as a function of fiber length is also analyzed. (c) 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Thermal effects in Nd:YAG planar waveguide lasers with non-symmetrical claddings are discussed. The heat generated in the active core can be removed more efficiently by directly contacting the active core to the heat sink. Several cladding materials are compared to optimize the heat removal. Furthermore, uniform pumping is achieved with oblique edge-pumping technique. Using quasi-CW pumping at 1 KHz repetition rate, an average output power of 280 W with a slope efficiency of 38% is obtained with a positive unstable resonator. (C) 2008 Elsevier B.V. For the first time, a high optical quality 10 at.% Yb3+-doped gadolinium oxyorthosilicate laser crystal Gd2SiO5 (GSO) was grown by the Czochralski (Cz) method. The segregation coefficient of Yb3+ was studied by the inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometer (ICP-AES) method. The crystal structure has monoclinic symmetry with space group P2(1)/c; this was determined by means of an x-ray diffraction analysis. The absorption spectra, fluorescence spectra and fluorescence decay curves of Yb3+ ions in a GSO crystal at room temperature were also studied. Then, the spectroscopic parameters of Yb:GSO were calculated. The advantages of the Yb:GSO crystal include high crystal quality, quasi-four-level laser operating scheme, high absorption cross-sections and particularly broad emission bandwidth (similar to 72 nm). The results indicated that the Yb:GSO crystal seemed to be a very promising laser gain medium in diode-pumped femtosecond laser and tunable solid state laser applications when LD pumped at 940 and 980 nm.

We report what we believe to be the first demonstration of laser operation with a novel laser material of Yb3(+) -doped Gd-2 SiO2 (Yb: GSO) pumped by a laser diode at 940 nm. We obtained a low lasing threshold of 1.27 kW/cm(2) with the center wavelength of 1090 nm, which is lower than the value of 1.53 kW/cm(2) predicted for Yb: YAG. The maximal output power of 360 mW was obtained with a 2% output, which corresponds to a slope efficiency up to 19%.

The effects of Na+ doping level on the thermal conductivities, absorption and emission spectra, and fluorescence lifetimes of Yb3+ ,Na+ :CaF2 crystals were systematically studied. Sites structure, covalent force, and crystal field strength of Yb3+ :CaF2 crystals were markedly varied by codoping Na+ as charge compensator. The 2.0at% Yb3+ and 3.0at% Na+-codoped CaF2 crystal was demonstrated to operate in diode-pumped passively mode-locking scheme. Transform-limited 1 ps laser pulses were obtained, showing the crystal capable of producing ultra-short laser pulses. (c) 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Nd3+-doped Y2-2x La-2x O-3 (x = 0.08) transparent ceramics were fabricated by conventional fabrication process. Spectroscopic properties of the samples were investigated. The absorption band of Nd3+ : Y1.84La0.16O3 was broad covering the wavelength range 780-850 nm. When doped with 1.5at% Nd3+, the cross sections of the sample at 820 nm and laser diode pumped 808 nm were 1.81 x 10(-20) cm(2) and 1.54 x 10(-20) cm(2), respectively. The strongest emission peak of the sample was centered at 1078 mn with long fluorescent lifetime, broad emission bandwidth and high quantum efficiency. Because of the additive La2O3, the spectroscopic quality parameter (X-Nd) of matrix was' decreased from 1.6 to 0.46, thus the fluorescence branch ratio of F-4(3/2) - (4) I-11/2 transition was increased to 56.82%. These properties of Nd3' : Y1.84La0.16O3 transparent ceramic are benefitial to achieve high efficient laser output and ultrashort modelocked pulse.

用提拉法生长了掺铬、钕的钆镓石榴石(Cr^4+,Nd^3+:GGG)自调Q激光品体。报道了室温下的吸收光谱和荧光光谱特性。分析了Cr离子浓度对光谱性质的影响。比较了Cr^4+:GGG,Nd^3+:GGG和(Cr^4+,Nd^3+):GGG晶体吸收光谱的关系。测量了(Cr^4+,Nd^3+):GGG晶体和Nd^3+:GGG晶体的荧光寿命,它们分别是33μs和250μs。实验表明,(Cr^4+,Nd^3+):GGG晶体是一种非常有潜力的自调Q激光晶体,可以实现大功率激光器的小型化和全固态化。

利用激光二极管(LD)抽运新型Na.Yb共掺CaF2(Na.Yb:CaF2)晶体,获得了1.05μm的自调Q激光输出。利用透射率1%的耦合输出镜,得到最低激光输出的抽运阈值功率仅为70mW。在透射率为2%的输出镜条件下,得到最大输出激光功率为390mw,此时激光的斜度效率达到20%。实验详细记录了自调Q脉冲的周期和宽度随抽运功率的变化关系,随着抽运功率的增加,自调Q脉冲的周期和宽度呈指数衰减。同时,还采用单棱镜进行光谱调谐实验,获得了1036~1059nm的自调Q激光调谐输出。

Passive Q-switching of a diode-pumped Yb:LYSO laser at 1060 nm with a Yb3+ ions-doped CaF2 crystal without the excited-state absorption (ESA) was demonstrated. An average output power of 174 mW with pulse duration of 5.6 mu s and repetition rate of 27 kHz have been obtained under the unoptimized conditions. And the Q-switching conversion efficiency was as high as 51.7%. (c) 2007 Optical Society of America.

应用中频感应提拉法生长出掺杂浓度为10 at.-%的Yb:YAG与Yb:YAP晶体,对比了室温下两种晶体的吸收和发射光谱特性。结果表明,Yb:YAG晶体比Yb:YAP晶体有更好的激光性能和低的阈值;同时对比发现,Yb:YAP晶体的吸收截面是Yb:YAG晶体的2.16倍,它容易实现LD泵;由于Yb:YAP晶体的各向异性,它有轴向效应明显,它可以产生偏振激光。

This paper reports that the TM3+:Lu2SiO5 (Tm:LSO) crystal is grown by Czochralski technique. The room-temperature absorption spectra of Tm:LSO crystal are measured on a b-cut sample with 4 at.% thulium. According to the obtained Judd-Ofelt intensity parameters Omega(2)=9.3155 x 10(-20) cm(2), Omega(4)=8.4103 x 10(-20) cm(2), Omega(6)=1.5908 x 10(-20) cm(2), the fluorescence lifetime is calculated to be 2.03 ms for F-3(4) -> H-3(6) transition, and the integrated emission cross section is 5.81 x 10(-18) cm(2). Room-temperature laser action near 2 mu m under diode pumping is experimentally evaluated in Tm:LSO. An optical-optical conversion efficiency of 9.1% and a slope efficiency of 16.2% are obtained with continuous-wave maximum output power of 0.67 W. The emission wavelengths of Tm:LSO laser are centred around 2.06 mu m with spectral bandwidth of similar to 13.6 nm.
