The problem of a film flowing down an inclined porous layer is considered. The fully developed basic flow is driven by gravitation. A careful linear instability analysis is carried out. We use Darcy's law to describe the porous layer and solve the coupling equations of the fluid and the porous medium rather than the decoupled equations of the one-sided model used in previous works. The eigenvalue problem is solved by means of a Chebyshev collocation method. We compare the instability of the two-sided model with the results of the one-sided model. The result reveals a porous mode instability which is completely neglected in previous works. For a falling film on an inclined porous plane there are three instability modes, i.e., the surface mode, the shear mode, and the porous mode. We also study the influences of the depth ratio d, the Darcy number delta, and the Beavers-Joseph coefficient alpha(BJ) on the instability of the system.

Instabilities of fluid flows have traditionally been investigated by normal mode analysis, i.e. by linearizing the equations of flow and testing for unstable eigenvalues of the linearized problem. However, the results of eigenvalue analysis agree poorly in many cases with experiments, especially for shear flows. In this paper we study the instabilities of two-dimensional Couette flow of a polymeric fluid in the framework of non-modal stability theory rather than normal mode analysis. A power-law model is used to describe the polymeric liquid. We focus on the response to external excitations and initial conditions by examining the pseudospectra structures and the transient energy growths. For both Newtonian and non-Newtonian flows, the results show that there can be a rather large transient growth even though the linear operator of Couette flow has no unstable eigenvalue. The effects of non-Newtonian viscosity on the transient behaviors are examined in this study. The results show that the "shear-thinning/shear-thickening" effect increases/decreases the amplitude of responses to external excitations and initial conditions. (C) 2010 Elsevier B.V. The nonmodal linear stability of a falling film over a porous inclined plane has been investigated. The base flow is driven by gravity. We use Darcy's law to describe the flow in the porous medium. A simplified one-sided model is used to describe the fluid flow. In this model, the influence of the porous layer on the flow in the film can be identified by a parameter beta. The instabilities of a falling film have traditionally been investigated by linearizing the governing equations and testing for unstable eigenvalues of the linearized problem. However, the results of eigenvalue analysis agree poorly in many cases with experiments, especially for shear flows. In the present paper, we have studied the linear stability of three-dimensional disturbances using the nonmodal stability theory. Particular attentions are paid to the transient behavior rather than the long time behavior of eigenmodes predicted by traditional normal mode analysis. The transient behaviors of the response to external excitations and the response to initial conditions are studied by examining the pseudospectral structures and the energy growth function G(t) Before we study the nonmodal stability of the system, we extend the results of long-wave analysis in previous works by examining the linear stabilities for streamwise and spanwise disturbances. Results show that the critical conditions of both the surface mode and the shear mode instabilities are dependent on beta for streamwise disturbances. Fe-B ultrafine amorphous alloy particles (UFAAP) were prepared by chemical reduction of Fe3+ with NaBHO4 and confirmed to be ultrafine amorphous particles by transmission electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. The specific heat of the sample was measured by a high precision adiabatic calorimeter, and a differential scanning calorimeter was used for thermal stability analysis. A topological structure of Fe-B atoms is proposed to explain two crystallization peaks and a melting peak observed at T=600, 868 and 1645 K, respectively.

本文针对四边固定载流矩形薄板,利用Mathieu方程解的稳定性,研究其在电磁场与机械荷载共同作用下的磁弹性稳定性问题。首先在载流薄板的磁弹性非线性运动方程、物理方程、几何方程、洛仑兹力表达式及电动力学方程的基础上,导出了载流薄板在电磁场与机械荷载共同作用下的磁弹性动力稳定方程,然后应用Galerkin方法将稳定方程整理为Mathieu方程的标准形式,并将薄板的动力稳定性问题归结为对Mathieu方程的求解。利用Mathieu方程的稳定解区域与非稳定解区域的分界,即方程系数λ和η的本征值关系,得出了磁弹性问题失稳临界状态的判别方程。通过具体算例,给出了四边固定载流矩形薄板的磁弹性动力失稳临界状态与相关参量之间的关系曲线,并对计算结果及其变化规律进行了分析讨论。

边坡稳定性分析极限平衡法在求解安全系数时,需要对条块间内力引入假定条件或某些平衡条件在求解时得不到满足.分析这些不同的假设条件对于计算结果的影响,建立一个满足极限平衡原理和合理性条件的数值优化模型.引入载荷系数,利用载荷系数与安全系数之间的单调关系,将模型的求解转化为求解一系列线性规划问题,算法中不存在数值收敛问题,且可以求出安全系数的全局最优解.通过对模型各个约束条件的变化来模拟引入的假定条件,以此探讨各种假定条件或静力平衡条件的缺失对计算结果影响及某些常用方法引入的假定条件可能带来的误差.

对三维简化的Janbu法进行了扩展,使得离散后在同一行上的各条块在水平横向的安全系数相等以及在同一列上的条块在水平纵向的安全系数相等,得到不同行(列)的安全系数,最后通过各条块底滑面的几何特性与受力分析给出其独立的安全系数以及各条块潜在的滑动方向.该方法拓展了传统极限平衡方法只给出坡体总体安全系数的思路,可对坡体局部稳定性和潜在滑动方向进行判定.该方法可适用于任意形状的滑面,还可分析包括考虑孔隙水压力、地质体分层、上覆载荷以及地震力等其他形式的外载.

The linear instability analysis of the Rayleigh-Allarangoni-Benard convection in a two-layer system of silicon oil 10cS and fluorinert FC70 liquids are performed in a larger range of two-layer depth ratios H, from 0.2 to 5.0 for different total depth H less than or equal to 12 mm. Our results are different from the previous study on the Rayleigh-Benard instability and show strong effects of thermocapillary force at the interface on the time-dependent oscillations arising from the onset of instability convection.

A new two-sided model rather than the one-sided model in previous works is put forward. The linear instability analysis is performed on the Marangoni-Benard convection in the two-layer system with an evaporation interface. We define a new evaporation Biot number which is different from that in the one-sided model, and obtain the curves of critical Marangoni number versus wavenumber. The influence of evaporation velocity and Biot number on the system is discussed and a new phenomenon uninterpreted before is now explained from our numerical results.

The initial small inhomogeneity of saturated sand could be amplified during the sedimentation process after liquefaction, and cracks could be observed in the sand column. Layers of fine sand could also be found at the exact place where cracks developed and disappeared. The phenomena and the whole process were experimentally shown by X-rays images. To account for the phenomena, a linearized stability analysis of the sedimentation of saturated sand was conducted; however, it did not produce a satisfactory result. A three-phase flow model describing the transportation of fine sand is presented in this paper. It is shown that such a kind of erosion/deposition model was qualitatively in good agreement with the experimental observation.

解释了土体强度各向异性、非线性的物理本质,结合常规直剪试验、三轴试验结果,在前人工作基础上建立了边坡稳定性分析中强度各向异性、非线性的描述方法,其中特别提出了一个各向异性函数.基于Janbu普遍条分法(GPS),运用SPREADSHEET模板程序,提出了一个能将各向异性、非线性强度准则逐点等效到Mohr-Coulomb直线强度准则处理上的迭代方法,准确方便地获得了非线性强度下的边坡稳定性分析.最后的算例展示了方法的使用过程.

将边坡稳定分析中的二维Spencer法拓展到了三维。该方法对所有条块满足力的平衡以及整体力矩平衡,克服了其他方法中只适用对称问题的缺点,不需已知滑动方向,还可根据滑面的几何特征,进一步得到各条块局部的稳定性系数及其潜在的滑动方向。此外,给出了该方法的实现步骤,其算法的收敛性也较好。最后以不对称问题为算例,并与其他文献中的结果进行比较,验证了该方法的可行性和有效性。

The linear instability analysis of the present paper shows that the thermocapillary convection in a half floating zone of larger Prandtl number has a steady instability mode w(i) = 0 and m = 1 for a fat liquid bridge V = 1.2 with small geometrical aspect ratio A = 0.6. This conclusion is different from the usual idea of hydrothermal instability, and implies that the instability of the system may excite a steady and axial asymmetric state before the onset of oscillation in the ease of large Prandtl number.

在分析地震对尾矿坝造成破坏特点的基础上,介绍了尾矿坝地震稳定性分析方法。以龙都尾矿库细粒尾矿堆积坝为例,分析了在当地发生七级地震情况下,尾矿坝在不同状态下的结果,为矿山进行尾矿库的安全管理提供了科学依据。
