It is designed for children somewhat older than those for whom there was published in 1835 "History of the United States: no. II. Or, Uncle Philip's conversations with the children about New York, by F. L. Hawks." The latter work is frequently mentioned and errors corrected. The last part of v. 1 and all of v. 2 relate to the Revolution and preceding controversy in New York State.
