"To subscribers" (note concerning errata in v. 1): l leaf, inserted at end of v. 2. "Subscribers' names": v. 2, p. [241]-243. Plates hand-colored by the author with the assistance of others. A third volume continuing this work, advertised in 1820 as "shortly to [be] put to press," was apparently never published. Issued in parts. The "eighth and last number" was scheduled for publication in March 1819, according to the "Preliminary observations" for v. 2, dated Dec. 3, 1818. Vol. 2 has imprint: Philadelphia, Published by M. Carey & Son; Joseph R. A. Skerrett, printer, 1818. Includes bibliographical references for each plant and "the chemical analysis, when any has been made." Mode of access: Internet. |
