The purpose of this paper is to show the perceptions of the academic staff of classical languages (ancient Greek and Latin) concerning use of online activities during their courses. The study was carried out in three countries: Greece (three major Universities), Spain (University of Barcelona) and the United States (University of California, Berkeley) with the participation of thirty-three academic instructors. Depending on the level of use and acceptance of the ICT and following G. Moore¿s classification, we separated the participating academics in three groups: the conservatives, the mainstream and the early adopters. The fact that the smallest group is the third clearly shows the necessity for teachers¿ preparation and training before introducing innovative projects in the classroom. Since the starting point for the application of innovation in the classroom is the teacher, policy makers should focus on helping them become conscious of changes in teaching methods and include their opinion during the design of innovative projects.

While there is research supporting the use of technology in classrooms, there is also evidence that technology often disrupts student learning. Examples of technology use in classrooms by both teachers and students will be explored, including the benefits and risks of each to the learning process. Research findings on cognition, attention, and classroom technologies will inform strategies for best practices for classroom technology use.

Teaching architecture is experiencing a moment of opportunity. New methods, like constructivist pedagogy, based on complexity and integration are yet to be explored. In this context of opportunity teaching architecture has a duty to integrate complexity in their curriculum. Teaching methods should also assume inherent indeterminacy and contingency of all complex process. If we accept this condition as part of any teaching method, the notion of truth or falsehood it becomes irrelevant. In this regard it could focus on teaching to contingency of language. Traditionally, technology is defined as the language of science. If we assume contingency as one of the characteristics of language, we could say that technology is also contingent. Therefore we could focus technology teaching to redefine its own vocabulary. So, redefining technological vocabulary could be an area of opportunity for education in architecture. The student could redefine their own tools, technology, to later innovate with them. First redefine the vocabulary, the technology, and then construct the new language, the technique. In the case of Building Technology subjects, it should also incorporate a more holistic approach for enhancing interdisciplinary transfer. Technical transfer, either from nature or other technologies to the field of architecture, is considered as a field of great educational possibilities. Evenmore, student get much broader technical approach that transgresses the boundaries of architectural discipline.

[eng] The new educational context in which we are involved and the facilities of the TIC (Communication Information Technologies) have led to the necessary modification of didactic approach that during years has been used for Pharmaceutical Technology teaching. However, changes/updating and innovation require a simultaneous reflection in order to avoid excessive dispersion of the approach and to channel adequately the pedagogic and didactic effort. On the other hand, it is necessary to evaluate the above initiatives to determinate if these one are on the right track. The Pharmaceutical Technology Teaching Innovation Group of the University of Barcelona has been formed and consolidated in this point of view. In this work, a review of studies carried on by the group, in the exposed purposes, from the beginning of their activities is presented.

[eng] The individual work of the student, in the European space for higher education, takes a particular relevance. At the same time, in this context, a complex challenge is presented to the professors, in the educational and formative work aimed at the students as well as in the organization of educational plans. Among the different activities that the system of ECTS comprises, we can highlight the preparation and accomplishment of examinations. This fact means to integrate into the learning process the individual and autonomous work that the students have to carry out to acquire the knowledge and to surpass the evaluation test. To achieve this objective, a database including multiple choice questions with three possible answers has been developed (similar to those composing part of the Pharmaceutical Technology test). This database has a design that facilitates its use by professors and students interested in this area and allows as the interactive evaluation of obligatory and optional subjects from the formal point of view, as a corporate recreational environment to make their employment more attractive for the students. The edition of the Web page of the Pharmaceutical Technology Teaching Innovation Group of the UB has been used to place this database within everybody"s reach.

The main objectives and findings of this first research report are presented in this chapter."The Implementation of the Internet in the Spanish Education System: State of Affairs and Future Prospects" is a large-scale research project that seeks to obtain relevant data about the introduction and dissemination of Information and Communication Technology, particularly the internet, in the practical and organizational general procedures of the Spanish schools and high schools. The project articulates the processes of ICT implementation on the primary and secondary education levels embracing a holistic approach, propped up by an empirical and analytical research methodology. Thus, our survey does not intend to detect which is the impact of ICT on school activities but how all the agents involved in the school community incorporate ICT and what use they make of it. We are especially interested in identifying the teachers' pedagogical and professional uses of ICT, how students use it in their activities and to what extent it contributes in reinforcing teamwork and participation proceedings in the institutions, as well as the relations between the latter and their context. It is also of our interest to know the factors that exert the strongest influence on the way teachers, head teachers and students make use of ICT. Finally, we intend to identify the ways ICT may contribute to the improvementof educational practices.

Työn tarkoituksena on selvittää sähkötekniikan opiskelijoiden motivaation tilanne. Myös opetuksen käytännön tekijöiden vaikutus opiskeluun selvitetään. Työ toteutettiin määrällisenä kyselytutkimuksena; kysely lähetettiin sähkötekniikan opiskelijoille syksyllä 2014. Tuloksia verrattiin lisäksi muihin aihetta käsitteleviin tutkimuksiin. Tutkimuksessa havaittiin sähkötekniikan opiskelijoiden motivaation olevan hyvää tasoa. Sähkötekniikan opetus on yhteisöllistä ja opetushenkilökunta helposti lähestyttävää. Kyselyn vastauksista löytyi joitakin kursseja, joiden suorittaminen on opiskelijoille epämieluisaa.

The proliferative usage of multimedia tools in the classroom reflects an increasingly technocratic education system. Technology provides educators with new opportunities to reach students in innovative ways. We describe the use of iPads and several proprietary applications in a General Psychology course as one opportunity to improve student learning outcomes. Quantitative and qualitative evidence will be provided of the pre- and post-tests, which both show positive significant outcomes.

This talk will describe a study designed to assess if clicker technology during a lesson can improve learning relative to traditional lecture alone. A control group was exposed to the stages of prenatal development via traditional lecture, and an experimental group was exposed to the material via an exercise that used clickers. A pretest showed no difference before the intervention. A posttest showed that the clicker group had significant gains indicating clickers may facilitate learning of science-based material.

The clinical setting has become increasingly complex in recent years. Nurse educators have recognized the limitations of traditional pedagogies in the clinical setting. The need for innovative, student-centered learning is essential in order to transfer knowledge to practical situations and discover new ways of thinking about clinical situations. Narrative pedagogy which emphasizes how students learn and experience learning is an effective evidence-based approach to clinical education.
