Au niveau méthodologique, ce travail innove en combinant plusieurs moyens d'observation complémentaires sur le processus d'écriture et sur le processus de correction. Les observations qualitatives ainsi recueillies sont retranscrites en les combinant selon l'ordre chronologique d'apparition, puis elles sont traitées et analysées sous le logiciel QDA Miner.

In November 2010, nearly 110,000 people in the United States were waiting for organs for transplantation. Despite the fact that the organ donor registration rate has doubled in the last year, Texas has the lowest registration rate in the nation. Due to the need for improved registration rates in Texas, this practice-based culminating experience was to write an application for federal funding for the central Texas organ procurement organization, Texas Organ Sharing Alliance. The culminating experience has two levels of significance for public health – (1) to engage in an activity to promote organ donation registration, and (2) to provide professional experience in grant writing. ^ The process began with a literature review. The review was to identify successful intervention activities in motivating organ donation registration that could be used in intervention design for the grant application. Conclusions derived from the literature review included (1) the need to specifically encourage family discussions, (2) religious and community leaders can be leveraged to facilitate organ donation conversations in families, (3) communication content must be culturally sensitive and (4) ethnic disparities in transplantation must be acknowledged and discussed.^ Post the literature review; the experience followed a five step process of developing the grant application. The steps included securing permission to proceed, assembling a project team, creation of a project plan and timeline, writing each element of the grant application including the design of proposed intervention activities, and completion of the federal grant application. ^ After the grant application was written, an evaluation of the grant writing process was conducted. Opportunities for improvement were identified. The first opportunity was the need for better timeline management to allow for review of the application by an independent party, iterative development of the budget proposal, and development of collaborative partnerships. Another improvement opportunity was the management of conflict regarding the design of the intervention that stemmed from marketing versus evidence-based approaches. Se analizan y recomiendan algunas técnicas de redacción, para promover la escritura de párrafos descriptivos, entre estudiantes de secundaria o principiantes. El estudio parte de los resultados obtenidos en una investigación llevada a cabo en un colegio del distrito de Pérez Zeledón (Costa Rica). Se propone una secuencia de técnicas fundamentadas en el enfoque de escritura equilibrada, el enfoque de escritura guiada, la redacción como proceso, las estrategias del aprendizaje, los estilos de aprendizaje y la teoría de inteligencias múltiples. Composition techniques designed to promote the writing of descriptive paragraphs by high school students are analyzed and recommended. This study is based on the results gathered from research conducted in a high school located in the district of Pérez Zeledón (Costa Rica). A proposal of a sequence of techniques has been developed, applying the Balanced Approach, the Guided Writing Approach, Process Approach, Leaming Strategies, Leaming Styles, and Multiple Intelligences Theory.

A situação económica instável vivida atualmente, aliada à crescente agressividade concorrencial obriga as organizações a evoluírem continuamente, melhorando a sua forma de trabalhar e de se apresentar ao mercado. Com a elaboração deste trabalho pretendeu-se analisar o processo de vendas, com maior enfoque no segmento de clientes Indústria, de modo a identificar possíveis desperdícios que ocorrem ao longo do processo, e criar um plano de ações corretivas e de melhoria, utilizando, para isso, ferramentas da qualidade. Neste relatório, descreve-se o processo atual na empresa, fazendo um estudo exaustivo ao mesmo. Com os dados recolhidos, desenvolveu-se um plano de ações para melhorar os vários processos com o objetivo de eliminar ou reduzir os desperdícios encontrados. Todas as ações corretivas que foram implementadas foram sujeitas a uma avaliação de desempenho, constatando-se uma melhoria do desempenho dos subprocessos tanto de forma quantitativa como qualitativa.

Abstract OBJECTIVE To map the sub processes related to turnover of nursing staff and to investigate and measure the nursing turnover cost. METHOD This is a descriptive-exploratory study, classified as case study, conducted in a teaching hospital in the southeastern, Brazil, in the period from May to November 2013. The population was composed by the nursing staff, using Nursing Turnover Cost Calculation Methodology. RESULTS The total cost of turnover was R$314.605,62, and ranged from R$2.221,42 to R$3.073,23 per employee. The costs of pre-hire totaled R$101.004,60 (32,1%), and the hiring process consumed R$92.743,60 (91.8%) The costs of post-hire totaled R$213.601,02 (67,9%), for the sub process decreased productivity, R$199.982,40 (93.6%). CONCLUSION The study identified the importance of managing the cost of staff turnover and the financial impact of the cost of the employee termination, which represented three times the average salary of the nursing staff.

Tämän diplomityön tarkoituksena on selvittää paperinvalmistuslinjan energiankulutusmittaus paperitehtaalla ja kehittää sen perusteella mittausmenetelmä. Tavoitteena on tutkia ja ohjeistaa mittaustapahtuma, kun apuna käytetään prosessimittauksia. Diplomityön teoriaosassa käsitellään paperinvalmistuslinjaa ja sen osaprosesseja sekä paperitehtaan prosessiohjausjärjestelmiä. Lisäksi työssä kerrotaan kirjallisuudesta löytyvistä paperitehtaan energiankulutusmittauksista, taseiden soveltamisesta paperinvalmistuslinjaan, osaprosessien energiankulutuskohteista ja energiakäytön arvioinnista. Näiden tietojen perusteella kehitetään mittausmenetelmä, joka soveltuu normaalituotannossa oleviin LWC-, SC-, sanomalehti-, kartonki- ja hienopaperinvalmistuslinjoihin sekä näiden osaprosesseille. Kehitettyä mittausmenetelmää testattiin case-tapauksiin ja kokemuksia kirjattiin ylös. Mittausmenetelmän suurin rajoite on prosessin paperitehdaskohtaisuus. Menetelmästä rajataan pois ilmanvaihto-, lämminvesi- ja jäähdytysvesijärjestelmien energiavirrat, koska näistä ei yleensä ole riittävästi mittauksia. LTO:ssa poistoilmasta talteen otettu energiavirta kuitenkin otetaan huomioon. Se vähentää korvausilman lämmittämiseen tarvittavaa energiaa. Diplomityössä selvisi, että paperivalmistuslinjan energiankulutusmittaus voidaan tehdä kustannustehokkaasti ja kattavasti hyödyntäen olemassa olevia prosessimittauksia. Mittaustuloksista on mahdollista laskea ominaisenergiankulutus, jota voidaan verrata toisiin linjoihin kun mittauksissa otetaan huomioon prosessin parametrit, mittalaitteiden mittausalue, ajankohta, mittapisteiden määrä ja sijainti.

Työn tavoitteena on analysoida ABB Oy:n Indutiokoneet-tulosyksikön tuotantoprosessin loppuosaa tietovirtojen näkökulmasta ja tutkia miten tiedonkulkua tulisi kehittää valmistusprosessin loppupään tehostamiseksi. Teoreettisena viitekehyksessä vertaillaan prosessinkehittämisen koulukuntia jatkuvaa parantamista ja prosessien suunnittelua ja käsitellään prosessin hallintaan ja kehittämiseen tarvittavia tietovirtoja ja niiden käsitteellistämistä sekä prosessinkehitysprojektin vaiheita. Tarkasteltavaa prosessia lähestytään analysoimalla, miten tutkittava osaprosessi toimii tällä hetkellä ja mitä ongelmia prosessin tiedonkulkuun liittyy. Analyysin pohjalta identifioidaan kahdeksan virhettä prosessissa ja virheiden poistamiseksi kehitystoimenpiteet, jotka liittyvät prosessin tekniseen infrastruktuuriin ja tietotekniseen tukeen sekä prosessin henkilöstön ohjeistukseen. Kehitysehdotusten avulla tarkasteltavassa työyksikössä nykyisin suoritettavia, varsinaisia työvaiheita tukevia vaiheita voidaan poistaa, mikä vapauttaa puolipäiväisen työpanoksen muihin tehtäviin ja pakkausprosessin virheiden väheneminen tuo rahallisia säästöjä kuljetuskustannuksissa.

Mekaanisen metsäteollisuuden tuotteiden kiristyvä globaali kilpailu ja jatkuva kustannusten kasvaminen kiristyvillä markkinoilla aiheuttavat jatkuvaa tuotannon tehostamisen tarvetta. Käyntiaikojen maksimoinnilla ja tuotantokoneiden käyttöasteen nostamisella haetaan hintaetua sekä toimituskapasiteetin maksimointia kilpailussa asiakkaista myös tulevaisuutta silmälläpitäen. Vanerin tuotantoprosessiin osaprosessina kuuluva viilun kuivaus on tehtaan tuotannon pullonkaula. Kuivauskoneen tuotannollisten häiriöiden syiden selvittämisillä ja käyntiajan lisäämisellä on suora tuotannollinen vaikutus. Tutkimuksessa löydettiin mahdollisia parannuskohteita tuotantolaitteisiin. Käsiteltävän aiheen ollessa aiemmin kirjallisuudessa käsittelemätön, jouduttiin kehitys- ja parannustoimenpiteissä tekemään suoraviivaisia syy- ja seuraussuhteisiin perustuvia ratkaisuja. Vaihtoehdoista etsittiin toiminnaltaan mahdollisimman yksinkertaisia sekä hankinta- ja käyttökustannuksiltaan kustannustehokkaita ratkaisuja.

The aim of the present set of longitudinal studies was to explore 3-7-year-old children.s Spontaneous FOcusing on Numerosity (SFON) and its relation to early mathematical development. The specific goals were to capture in method and theory the distinct process by which children focus on numerosity as a part of their activities involving exact number recognition, and individual differences in this process that may be informative in the development of more complex number skills. Over the course of conducting the five studies, fifteen novel tasks were progressively developed for the SFON assessments. In the tasks, confounding effects of insufficient number recognition, verbal comprehension, other procedural skills as well as working memory capacity were aimed to be controlled. Furthermore, how children.s individual differences in SFON are related to their development of number sequence, subitizing-based enumeration, object counting and basic arithmetic skills was explored. The effect of social interaction on SFON was tested. Study I captured the first phase of the 3-year longitudinal study with 39 children. It was investigated whether there were differences in 3-year-old children.s tendency to focus on numerosity, and whether these differences were related to the children.s development of cardinality recognition skills from the age of 3 to 4 years. It was found that the two groups of children formed on the basis of their amount of SFON tendency at the age of 3 years differed in their development of recognising and producing small numbers. The children whose SFON tendency was very predominant developed faster in cardinality related skills from the age of 3 to 4 years than the children whose SFON tendency was not as predominant. Thus, children.s development in cardinality recognition skills is related to their SFON tendency. Studies II and III were conducted to investigate, firstly, children.s individual differences in SFON, and, secondly, whether children.s SFON is related to their counting development. Altogether nine tasks were designed for the assessments of spontaneous and guided focusing on numerosity. The longitudinal data of 39 children in Study II from the age of 3.5 to 6 years showed individual differences in SFON at the ages of 4, 5 and 6 years, as well as stability in children.s SFON across tasks used at different ages. The counting skills were assessed at the ages of 3.5, 5 and 6 years. Path analyses indicated a reciprocal tendency in the relationship between SFON and counting development. In Study III, these results on the individual differences in SFON tendency, the stability of SFON across different tasks and the relationship of SFON and mathematical skills were confirmed by a larger-scale cross-sectional study of 183 on average 6.5-year-old children (range 6;0-7;0 years). The significant amount of unique variance that SFON accounted for number sequence elaboration, object counting and basic arithmetic skills stayed statistically significant (partial correlations varying from .27 to .37) when the effects of non-verbal IQ and verbal comprehension were controlled. In addition, to confirm that the SFON tasks assess SFON tendency independently from enumeration skills, guided focusing tasks were used for children who had failed in SFON tasks. It was explored whether these children were able to proceed in similar tasks to SFON tasks once they were guided to focus on number. The results showed that these children.s poor performance in the SFON tasks was not caused by their deficiency in executing the tasks but on lacking focusing on numerosity. The longitudinal Study IV of 39 children aimed at increasing the knowledge of associations between children.s long-term SFON tendency, subitizing-based enumeration and verbal counting skills. Children were tested twice at the age of 4-5 years on their SFON, and once at the age of 5 on their subitizing-based enumeration, number sequence production, as well as on their skills for counting of objects. Results showed considerable stability in SFON tendency measured at different ages, and that there is a positive direct association between SFON and number sequence production. The association between SFON and object counting skills was significantly mediated by subitizing-based enumeration. These results indicate that the associations between the child.s SFON and sub-skills of verbal counting may differ on the basis of how significant a role understanding the cardinal meanings of number words plays in learning these skills. The specific goal of Study V was to investigate whether it is possible to enhance 3-year old children.s SFON tendency, and thus start children.s deliberate practice in early mathematical skills. Participants were 3-year-old children in Finnish day care. The SFON scores and cardinality-related skills of the experimental group of 17 children were compared to the corresponding results of the 17 children in the control group. The results show an experimental effect on SFON tendency and subsequent development in cardinality-related skills during the 6-month period from pretest to delayed posttest in the children with some initial SFON tendency in the experimental group. Social interaction has an effect on children.s SFON tendency. The results of the five studies assert that within a child.s existing mathematical competence, it is possible to distinguish a separate process, which refers to the child.s tendency to spontaneously focus on numerosity. Moreover, there are significant individual differences in children.s SFON at the age of 3-7 years. Moderate stability was found in this tendency across different tasks assessed both at the same and at different ages. Furthermore, SFON tendency is related to the development of early mathematical skills. Educational implications of the findings emphasise, first, the importance of regarding focusing on numerosity as a separate, essential process in the assessments of young children.s mathematical skills. Second, the substantial individual differences in SFON tendency during the childhood years suggest that uncovering and modeling this kind of mathematically meaningful perceiving of the surroundings and tasks could be an efficient tool for promoting young children.s mathematical development, and thus prevent later failures in learning mathematical skills. It is proposed to consider focusing on numerosity as one potential sub-process of activities involving exact number recognition in future studies.

Olkiluodon ja Loviisan ydinvoimalaitoksilla syntyvä käytetty ydinpolttoaine tullaan kapseloimaan ja loppusijoittamaan Posiva Oy:n kapselointi- ja loppusijoituslaitoksella, joka rakennetaan Olkiluotoon. Käytetyn polttoaineen käsittelyssä on huomioitava säteilytyöhön liittyviä säteilysuojelunäkökohtia. Kapseloinnissa ja loppusijoituksessa käsitellään vaarallisia säteilylähteitä, joista merkittävimmät ovat käytetty ydinpolttoaine ja täyden loppusijoituskapselin röntgentarkastuslaitteisto. Posivan laitosten käyttötoiminnalle muodostetaan tässä diplomityössä säteilysuojelun vaatimusmäärittely. Kapseloinnin ja loppusijoituksen säteilytyövaiheet käsitellään yksitellen säteilysuojelun näkökulmasta. Työvaiheille määritetään tarpeelliset säteilysuojelutoimenpiteet ja työvaiheiden suorittamisen säteilysuojeluvaatimukset. Molempien laitosten valvonta-aluejärjestelyjä ja säteilyolosuhteiden vyöhykejakoa tarkennetaan. Työssä määritetään vyöhyke- ja aluerajoilla vaadittavat säteilysuojelutoiminnot sekä kontaminaationhallinnan laatuvaatimukset. Työssä käsitellään myös operatiivisen säteilysuojelun toimenpiteiden laatuvaatimuksia ja tarvittavaa säteilysuojelun sisäistä ohjeistoa. Työn tuloksena on kapselointi- ja loppusijoituslaitoksen käyttötoiminnan operatiivisten säteilysuojelutoimenpiteiden kuvaus. Kapselointi- ja loppusijoituslaitosten säteilysuojelua toteutetaan käyttövaiheen työnsuunnittelulla, operatiivisilla säteilysuojelutoimilla ja rakenteellisin keinoin. Työntekijöiden säteilyannokset minimoidaan välttämällä oleskelua kohonneen säteilytason alueilla. Kapselin röntgentarkastuslaitteiston käytön säteilyturvallisuus on varmistettava ja laitosten käyttötoiminta ei saa aiheuttaa työntekijöille sisäistä säteilyannosta. Useista työvaiheista ja käyttötoiminnan poikkeustilanteista on tehtävä jatkoanalyyseja työntekijöiden säteilysuojelun näkökulmasta.
