Toimittajasuhteiden kehittäminen kuormitusvaihteluiden tasaamiseksi

Työn tavoitteena oli varteenotettavien toimittajayhteistyökumppanien löytäminen pitkäaikaiseen ja vastavuoroiseen yhteistyöhön kuormitusvaihteluiden hallitsemiseksi. Yhteistyökumppania päädyttiin etsimään toimialoilta, joiden suhdannevaihtelut riippuisivat eri tekijöistä kuin massa- ja paperikoneiden valmistus -toimialan suhdannevaihtelut. Yhteistyön mahdollistamiseksi suhdanne- ja kapasiteettivaihteluiden tuli yhteistyökumppaneiden kesken kulkea mahdollisimman vastakkaiseen tahtiin.Toimialoja verrattiin niiden tuotannon bruttoarvon- sekä trendiarvon muutosprosenttien avulla. Mahdollisia yhteistyökumppaniyrityksiä etsittiin neljältä sopivimmalta toimialalta. Parhaiksi todettujen yritysten kanssa keskusteltiin yhteistyöstä ja tutustuttiin yritysten tuotantoihin ja yrityskulttuureihin. Kyseisten yritysten edustajat vierailivat myös Järvenpäässä. Työn lopuksi arvioitiin yhteistyön mahdollisuuksia parhaiksi todettujen yhteistyökumppaneiden ja Järvenpään Metso Paper Oy:n tuotannon komponenttivalmistuksen kanssa. Lisäksi esitettiin ehdotus jatkotoimenpiteistä yhteistyön syventämiseksi.

The operation of autonomous mobile robot assistants in the environment of care facilities adopting a user-centered development design

Teaching how to learn with a wiki in Primary Education: what classroom interaction can tell us

Understanding how wikis are used to support collaborative learning is an important concern for researchers and teachers. Adopting a discourse analytic approach, this paper attempts to understand the teaching processes when a wiki is embedded in a science project in primary education to foster collaborative learning. Through studying interaction between the teacher and students, our findings identify ways in which the teacher prompts collaborative learning but also shed light on the difficulties for the teacher in supporting student collective collaboration. It is argued that technological wiki features supporting collaborative learning can only be realized if teacher talk and pedagogy are aligned with the characteristics of wiki collaborative work: the freedom of students to organize and participate by themselves, creating dialogic space and promoting student participation. We argue that a dialogic approach for examining interaction can be used to help to design a more effective pedagogic approach in the use of wikis in education, to shift into Web 2.0 learning paradigm and to equip learners with the competences they need to participate in knowledge co-construction.

The Future of Mobile Services and Wireless Applications in the Finnish Healthcare Sector

Työn päätavoitteena oli tutkia mobiilipalveluita ja langattomia sovelluksia Suomen terveydenhuollon sektorilla. Tutkimus havainnollistaa avain-alueita, missä mobiilipalvelut ja langattomat sovellukset voivat antaa lisäarvoa perinteiseen lääketieteen harjoittamiseen, ja selvittää, mitkä ovat tähän kehitykseen liittyvät suurimmat ongelmat ja uhkat sekä tutkimustuloksiin pohjautuvat mahdolliset palvelut ja sovellukset 5-10 vuoden kuluttua. Tutkimus oli luonteeltaan kvalitatiivinen ja tutkimuksen toteuttamiseen valittiin tulevaisuudentutkimus ja erityisesti yksi sen menetelmistä, delfoi-menetelmä. Tutkimuksen aineisto kerättiin kahdelta puolistrukturoidulta haastattelukierrokselta. Työn empiirinen osuus keskittyi kuvailemaan Suomen terveydenhuollon sektoria, siinä meneillään olevia projekteja sekä teknisiä esteitä. Lisäksi pyrittiin vastaamaan tutkimuksen pääkysymykseen. Tutkimustulokset osoittivat, että tärkeät alueet, joihin langaton kommunikaatio tulisi vaikuttamaan merkittävästi, ovat ensiaputoiminta, kroonisten potilaiden etämonitorointi, välineiden kehittäminen langattomaan kommunikaatioon kotihoidon parantamiseksi ja uusien toimintamallien luomiseksi sekä lääketieteellinen yhteistyö jakamalla terveydenhuoltoon liittyvät informaation lähteet. Työn tulosten perusteellavoitiin antaa myös muutamia toimenpide-ehdotuksia jatkotutkimuksia varten.

Apple, Nokia and RIM – Rivalry and Co-operation between Three Mobile Phone Corporations

The purpose of this paper is to gather enough evidence to speculate the future of Nokia, Rim and Apple. The thesis goes over the history, current events and business model of each company. This paper includes differences between the companies and co-operation and rivalry, such as patent infringement cases. The study is limited to smartphones and their future. The result of this study is that Apple will continue its steady increase in market share, while Nokia will first decrease and after the launch of the Windows Phone it will rise again. RIM‟s result has not been as good as in past years and it has lost market share. The decrease of share price may lead to acquisition by a company interested in RIM technology.

Integrated internal PIFA for UMTS operation of clamshell mobile phones

novel design of at internal PIFA integrated with an RF-shielding metal case for application in a clamshell or fielder-tvpe mobile phone is presented. The integrated PIFA has a bent and tapered radiating arm in order to easily fit in the casing of the clamshell mobile phone as an internal antenna. The integrated PlEA can also provide a wide operating bandwidth fir UM7S (1920-2170 MHz) operation. In addition, for the clamshell mobile phone in either the talk or standby condition, only a small effect on the operating bandwidth of the integrated PIFA is obtained.
