Tuotekonfigurointi on tehokas tapa toteuttaa massaräätälöintiä.

Samalla pikalainatoimintaa koskevaa lainsäädäntöä on uudistettu useaan kertaan. Tämän kandidaatintutkielman tavoitteena on ollut selvittää, miten korkokattosäännös on vaikuttanut pikalainayhtiöiden tarjoamiin tuotteisiin ja alalla toimivan yritysjoukon kokoon. Tutkimus on toteutettu laadullisin menetelmin. Muuttuneiden tuotteiden myötä pikalainatoiminta on siirtynyt lähemmäs muuta kuluttajaluottotoimintaa.

Trials were carried out in Juazeiro, Bahia State, Brazil, aiming to test plant regulators composed by gibberellin, cytokine and auxin effects on chemical quality of Superior Seedless grape berries. The first trial studied the effects of Stimulate (R) (bio regulator) and X-Cyte (R) (cytokine) associated to a new gibberellin formulation (N-Large (R)) and associated to Pro-Gibb (R), which is a product used as source of gibberellin. Products were sprayed at berries development phase (18, 21, 51 and 56 days after spur-pruning). Treatments were: T1: Pro-Gibb (R); T2: Stimulate (R) (Dose 1); T3: Stimulate (R) (Dose 2); T4: Stimulate (R) (Dose 3); T5: Pro-Gibb (R) + X-Cyte (R) (Low Dose - DB); T6: Pro-Gibb (R) + X-Cyte (R) (Intermediate Dose - DM); T7: Pro-Gibb (R) + X-Cyte (R) (High Dose - DA); T8: N-Large (R); T9: N-Large (R) + X-Cyte (R) (DB); T10: N-Large (R) + X-Cyte (R) (DM); T11: N-Large (R) + X-Cyte (R) (DA). The second trial aimed to assess the effect of the new gibberellin formulation (N-Large (R)) associated or not with cytokine (X-Cyte (R)) also sprayed straight over the bunches at berries development phase (17, 55 e 66 days after spur-pruning). Treatments were: T1: Pro-Gibb (R) - blank; T2: N-Large (R) (DB); T3: N-Large (R) (DM); T4: N-Large (R) (DA); T5: N-Large (R) (DB) + X-Cyte (R) (DB); T6: N-Large (R) (DB) + X-Cyte (R) (DM); T7: N-Large (R) (DB) + X-Cyte (R) (DA); T8: N-Large (R) (DM) + X-Cyte (R) (DB); T9: N-Large (R) (DM) + X-Cyte (R) (DM); T10: N-Large (R) (DM) + X-Cyte (R) (DA); T11: N-Large (R) (DA) + X-Cyte (R) (DB); T12: N-Large (R) (DA) + X-Cyte (R) (DM); T13: N-Large (R) (DA) + X-Cyte (R) (DA). Experimental design was random blocks with four repetitions with each repetition/parcel having three useful plants in the same row. At harvest, when bunches average had soluble solids over 15 degrees Brix, berries were collected for soluble solids, pH, titratable acidity analysis as well as (SS/AT) ratio calculation. In both trials, plant regulators evaluated did not provide significant changes on chemical quality of 'Superior Seedless' grape berries. Therefore, the lack of differences on response between the commercially used product (Pro-Gibb (R)) and the other products tested (Stimulate (R), X-Cyte (R) e N-Large (R)) prove the last as promising for the ` Superior Seedless' grape cultivation, leaving a larger range of alternative for grape farmers in the Sao Francisco Valley, Bahia.

For second-hand products sold with warranty, the expected warranty cost for an item to the manufacturer, depends on (i) the age and/or usage as well as the maintenance history for the item and (ii) the terms of the warranty policy. The paper develops probabilistic models to compute the expected warranty cost to the manufacturer when the items are sold with free replacement or pro rata warranties. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. On assistive technology targeted for people with activity limitations and participation, usability issues becomes an essential tool to ensure that the product has the appropriate ergonomics characteristics, in other words, ensure that it fits the specific user´s needs. The aim of this study was to analyze the usability of an adaptive seating device for children with neuromotor impairments, by using kinematic indicators of the reaching movement. The study sample consisted of 13 children with associated neurologic conditions. The tests were developed by using a wooden bench height adjustable, integrated with the adaptive seating device under study, and a system to capture three-dimensional image, called Qualisys Track Manager. The following reaching kinematics variables were measured: maximum reaching velocity, movement duration, index of curvature, and unit movements. It was found that the use of the adaptive seating device had a positive impact on upper limb function in children with neuromotor impairments. It was also noticed an improvement in the reaching movement kinematics, which was statistical significant for the index of curvature and unit movements. As main conclusions, it is possible to point out some positive effects that the product under study seems to have on users' movements, such as the improved movement quality of the upper limb, which could mean a better postural adjustments and higher trunk postural control. By identifying new measures of usability in terms of effectiveness and efficiency for the analyzeddevice, the results obtained may serve also as performance indicators, providing new data that may help to improve the product and eventually modifying it, in order to turn it more compatible with the needs of the considered target population.

Dairy products that contain probiotic bacteria are those that are produced with various fermentation methods, especially lactic acid fermentation, by using starter cultures and those that have various textures and aromas. Fermented dairy products are popular due to their differences in taste and their favourable physiological effects. Today, fermented dairy beverages in general are produced locally by using traditional methods. Recently, due to the increased demand for natural nutrients and probiotic products, fermented dairy beverages have reached a different position and are considered to have an important impact on human health and nutrition. In this article, probiotic bacteria and functional dairy products that are produced by using probiotic bacteria are discussed.

OBJECTIVE: This study seeks to identify practices of self-medication in the treatment of ocular emergencies. We examine patients' use of both homemade preparations and manufactured products before seeking specialized care. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We conducted a cross-sectional analytic survey of consecutive patients seen in the ophthalmology emergency room of a teaching hospital. RESULTS: The sample included 561 subjects, 51.3% males and 48.7% females, with a mean age of 39.8 years. Prior to seeking emergency care, 40.5% reported self-medicating; 29.4% used a homemade preparation (13.9% referred to an industrialized product like boric acid as a homemade preparation), and 11.1% used a manufactured product. The most frequently used products included a boric acid solution (53.3%), a normal saline solution (35.7%), herbal infusions (6.1%) and breast milk (4.8%). Viral conjunctivitis was the most frequent diagnosis (24.4%), followed by the presence of a corneal foreign body (7.4%). No significant differences were found in the self-treatment of ocular injuries according to gender (p = 0.95), level of education (p = 0.21) or age (p = 0.14). In addition, self-medication practices were not related to the medically judged severity of the condition. CONCLUSION: Patients often attempt to treat conditions that require ophthalmologic emergency care by self-medicating with homemade or manufactured products. The most widely used products include boric acid, normal saline, leaf infusions and breast milk. This behavior occurs independently of educational level, gender, age or the nature of the ocular condition. Self-medication is a culturally driven practice that is used even in cases of acute ocular injuries.

The productivity associated with commonly available disassembly methods today seldomly makes disassembly the preferred end-of-life solution for massive take back product streams. Systematic reuse of parts or components, or recycling of pure material fractions are often not achievable in an economically sustainable way. In this paper a case-based review of current disassembly practices is used to analyse the factors influencing disassembly feasibility. Data mining techniques were used to identify major factors influencing the profitability of disassembly operations. Case characteristics such as involvement of the product manufacturer in the end-of-life treatment and continuous ownership are some of the important dimensions. Economic models demonstrate that the efficiency of disassembly operations should be increased an order of magnitude to assure the competitiveness of ecologically preferred, disassembly oriented end-of-life scenarios for large waste of electric and electronic equipment (WEEE) streams. Technological means available to increase the productivity of the disassembly operations are summarized. Automated disassembly techniques can contribute to the robustness of the process, but do not allow to overcome the efficiency gap if not combined with appropriate product design measures. Innovative, reversible joints, collectively activated by external trigger signals, form a promising approach to low cost, mass disassembly in this context. A short overview of the state-of-the-art in the development of such self-disassembling joints is included. (c) 2008 CIRP.

We consider a class of two-dimensional problems in classical linear elasticity for which material overlapping occurs in the absence of singularities. Of course, material overlapping is not physically realistic, and one possible way to prevent it uses a constrained minimization theory. In this theory, a minimization problem consists of minimizing the total potential energy of a linear elastic body subject to the constraint that the deformation field must be locally invertible. Here, we use an interior and an exterior penalty formulation of the minimization problem together with both a standard finite element method and classical nonlinear programming techniques to compute the minimizers. We compare both formulations by solving a plane problem numerically in the context of the constrained minimization theory. The problem has a closed-form solution, which is used to validate the numerical results. This solution is regular everywhere, including the boundary. In particular, we show numerical results which indicate that, for a fixed finite element mesh, the sequences of numerical solutions obtained with both the interior and the exterior penalty formulations converge to the same limit function as the penalization is enforced. This limit function yields an approximate deformation field to the plane problem that is locally invertible at all points in the domain. As the mesh is refined, this field converges to the exact solution of the plane problem.

This paper reports a research that evaluated the product development methodologies used in Brazilian small and medium-sized metal-mechanic enterprises (SMEs), in a specific region of Sao Paulo. The tool used for collecting the data was a questionnaire, which was developed and applied through interviews conducted by the researchers in 32 companies. The main focus of this paper can be condensed in the synthesis-question ""Is only the company responsible for the development?"" which was analyzed thoroughly. The results obtained from this analysis were evaluated directly (through the respective percentages of answers) and statistically (through the search of an index which demonstrates if two questions are related). The results point to a degree of maturity in SMEs, which allows product development to be conducted in cooperation networks. (C) 2007 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

The aim of this work is to study the reaction rate and the morphology of intermediate reaction products during iron ore reduction when iron ore and carbonaceous materials are agglomerated together with or without Portland cement. The reaction was performed at high temperatures, and used small size samples in order to minimise heat transfer constraints. Coke breeze and pure graphite were the carbonaceous materials employed. Portland cement was applied as a binder, and pellet diameters were in the range 5.6-6.5 mm. The experimental technique involved the measurement of the pellet weight loss, as well as the interruption of the reaction at different stages, in order to submit the partially reduced pellet to scanning electron microscopy. The experimental temperature was in the range 1423-1623 K, and the total reaction time varied from 240 to 1200 s. It was observed that above 1523 K the formation of liquid slag occurred inside the pellets, which partially dissolved iron oxides. The apparent activation energies obtained were 255 kJ mol(-1) for coke breeze containing pellets, and 230 kJ mol(-1) for those pellets containing graphite. It was possible to avoid heat transfer control of the reaction rate up to 1523 K by employing small composite pellets.

Medium carbon steels are mostly used for simple applications; nevertheless new applications have been developed for which good sheet formability is required. This class of steels has an inherent low formability. A medium carbon hot rolled SAE 1050 steel has been selected for this study. It has been cold rolled with reductions in the 7-80% range. Samples have been used to assess the cold work hardening curve. For samples with a 50 and 80% thickness reduction, an annealing heat treatment has been performed to obtain recrystallization. The material has been characterized in the ""as received"", cold rolled and annealed conditions, using several methods: optical microscopy, X-ray diffraction (texture), Vickers hardness and tensile testing. The 50% cold rolled and recrystallized material has been further studied in terms of sheet metal formability and texture evolution during the actual stamping of a steel toecap that has been used to validate the finite element simulations. When building genetic maps, it is necessary to choose from several marker ordering algorithms and criteria, and the choice is not always simple. In this study, we evaluate the efficiency of algorithms try (TRY), seriation (SER), rapid chain delineation (RCD), recombination counting and ordering (RECORD) and unidirectional growth (UG), as well as the criteria PARF (product of adjacent recombination fractions), SARF (sum of adjacent recombination fractions), SALOD (sum of adjacent LOD scores) and LHMC (likelihood through hidden Markov chains), used with the RIPPLE algorithm for error verification, in the construction of genetic linkage maps. A linkage map of a hypothetical diploid and monoecious plant species was simulated containing one linkage group and 21 markers with fixed distance of 3 cM between them. In all, 700 F(2) populations were randomly simulated with and 400 individuals with different combinations of dominant and co-dominant markers, as well as 10 and 20% of missing data. The simulations showed that, in the presence of co-dominant markers only, any combination of algorithm and criteria may be used, even for a reduced population size. In the case of a smaller proportion of dominant markers, any of the algorithms and criteria (except SALOD) investigated may be used. In the presence of high proportions of dominant markers and smaller samples (around 100), the probability of repulsion linkage increases between them and, in this case, use of the algorithms TRY and SER associated to RIPPLE with criterion LHMC would provide better results.
