This research deals with the discussion about Physics teachers’ undergraduate education and professional performance related to the knowledge acquired during this initial education. More specifically, we try to answer questions like: How do future teachers evaluate the knowledge acquired during their initial education as in terms of specific knowledge as pedagogical knowledge? What are their formative needs and future expectatives about professional performance and the school teaching environment? Data was constituted from a sample of 26 future high school physics teachers, one semester long, that were taking the supervised curricular training in a undergraduate Physics education program (called Licenciatura in Brazil), in São Paulo State public university. Besides the final report of this training, future teachers were asked to answer a questionnaire aiming to take their conceptions about their initial education program, their formative needs, future professional expectatives and high school teaching environment. According to the future teachers, the program they were about to finish was satisfactory in terms of Physics specific contents; however, about the pedagogical content knowledge and the pedagogical practice, they showed to be unsatisfied and insecure. The majority of the questionnaire responses demonstrated that they feel lack of teaching experience. Moreover, teachers emphasize other factors related to the future professional performance: possible difficulties to deal with students’ indiscipline, schools’ bad physical structure, limited number of Physics classes in high school level, lack of didactical laboratories and also they seem to be frightened that the expertise teachers do not be collaborative with the new ones. In this sense, the research outcomes shows the necessity of discussions about questions involving teachers knowledge, related to either, the Physics conceptual domain and the pedagogical one, since it matters directly to future teachers professional performance. Discussions in this sense can also help evaluation and restructuration of programs designed to initial and continuous teachers’ education.

In the last decade, both scientific community and automotive industry enabled communications among vehicles in different kinds of scenarios proposing different vehicular architectures. Vehicular delay-tolerant networks (VDTNs) were proposed as a solution to overcome some of the issues found in other vehicular architectures, namely, in dispersed regions and emergency scenarios. Most of these issues arise from the unique characteristics of vehicular networks. Contrary to delay-tolerant networks (DTNs), VDTNs place the bundle layer under the network layer in order to simplify the layered architecture and enable communications in sparse regions characterized by long propagation delays, high error rates, and short contact durations. However, such characteristics turn contacts very important in order to exchange as much information as possible between nodes at every contact opportunity. One way to accomplish this goal is to enforce cooperation between network nodes. To promote cooperation among nodes, it is important that nodes share their own resources to deliver messages from others. This can be a very difficult task, if selfish nodes affect the performance of cooperative nodes. This paper studies the performance of a cooperative reputation system that detects, identify, and avoid communications with selfish nodes. Two scenarios were considered across all the experiments enforcing three different routing protocols (First Contact, Spray and Wait, and GeoSpray). For both scenarios, it was shown that reputation mechanisms that punish aggressively selfish nodes contribute to increase the overall network performance.

Tutkimuksen tavoite oli selvittää suorituskyvyn mittaamista, mittareita ja niiden suunnittelua tukku- ja jakeluliiketoiminnassa. Kriittisten menestystekijöiden mittarit auttavat yritystä kohti yhteistä päämäärää. Kriittisten menestystekijöiden mittarit ovat usein yhdistetty strategiseen suunnitteluun ja implementointiin ja niillä on yhtäläisyyksiä monien strategisten työkalujen kun Balanced scorecardin kanssa. Tutkimus ongelma voidaan esittää kysymyksen muodossa. •Mitkä ovat Oriola KD:n pitkänaikavälin tavoitteita tukevat kriittisten menestystekijöiden mittarit (KPIs) toimittajan ja tuotevalikoiman mittaamisessa? Tutkimus on jaettu kirjalliseen ja empiiriseen osaan. Kirjallisuus katsaus käsittelee aikaisempaa tutkimusta strategian, toimitusketjun hallinnan, toimittajan arvioinnin ja erilaisten suorituskyvyn mittaamisjärjestelmien osalta. Empiirinen osuus etenee nykytila-analyysista ehdotettuihin kriittisten menestystekijöiden mittareihin, jotka ovat kehitetty kirjallisuudesta löydetyn mallin avulla. Tutkimuksen lopputuloksena ovat case yrityksen tarpeisiin kehitetyt kriittisten menestystekijöiden mittarit toimittajan ja tuotevalikoiman arvioinnissa.

The current level of demand by customers in the electronics industry requires the production of parts with an extremely high level of reliability and quality to ensure complete confidence on the end customer. Automatic Optical Inspection (AOI) machines have an important role in the monitoring and detection of errors during the manufacturing process for printed circuit boards. These machines present images of products with probable assembly mistakes to an operator and him decide whether the product has a real defect or if in turn this was an automated false detection. Operator training is an important aspect for obtaining a lower rate of evaluation failure by the operator and consequently a lower rate of actual defects that slip through to the following processes. The Gage R&R methodology for attributes is part of a Six Sigma strategy to examine the repeatability and reproducibility of an evaluation system, thus giving important feedback on the suitability of each operator in classifying defects. This methodology was already applied in several industry sectors and services at different processes, with excellent results in the evaluation of subjective parameters. An application for training operators of AOI machines was developed, in order to be able to check their fitness and improve future evaluation performance. This application will provide a better understanding of the specific training needs for each operator, and also to accompany the evolution of the training program for new components which in turn present additional new difficulties for the operator evaluation. The use of this application will contribute to reduce the number of defects misclassified by the operators that are passed on to the following steps in the productive process. This defect reduction will also contribute to the continuous improvement of the operator evaluation performance, which is seen as a quality management goal.

Actualmente, no campo específico da educação, a avaliação do desempenho tem vindo a assumir uma importância crescente e uma maior atenção dos investigadores pelos contextos escolares e pela relação directa entre a qualidade das abordagens de ensino e os níveis de desempenho dos alunos. No contexto do sistema educativo português, a preocupação com a eficácia passa a considerar a avaliação dos professores como uma prioridade, trazendo à discussão a profissionalidade docente e a sua avaliação. Assim, este estudo tem como objectivo a análise dos elementos potenciadores e condicionadores do actual modelo proposto pelo Decreto Regulamentar 2/2008 de 10 de Janeiro, bem como a sistematização de elementos complementares e /ou alternativos ao modelo vigente, a partir do que perspectivam os professores de uma escola secundária. Para a sua realização utilizou-se uma abordagem qualitativa suportada na grounded theory - estudo de caso. As técnicas de colheita de dados foram as entrevistas a nove docentes participantes e a análise de documentos relacionados com a política educativa da escola. O estudo permitiu concluir que o modelo apresenta dimensões controversas e que estas condicionam os objectivos intrínsecos do mesmo, sendo que a prevalência de questões burocráticas dificulta a sua implementação. Em consequência foram apresentadas algumas recomendações.

Com as várias reformulações do processo de avaliação de desempenho docente (ADD), passou-se de um processo de avaliação dos professores assente na autoavaliação do docente, para um sistema de heteroavaliação que visa a prestação de contas e a seleção, mas também a melhoria de práticas e o desenvolvimento profissional, através do acompanhamento supervisivo. No entanto, a conciliação entre estas duas perspetivas não é fácil e tem gerado perplexidades e inquietações entre os avaliadores e entre os avaliados. Com este estudo, pretendemos conhecer a perspetiva de avaliadores e avaliados sobre o papel que a Supervisão detém no processo de avaliação de desempenho do professor e o seu contributo para o desenvolvimento profissional do professor e melhoria das práticas. Assim desenhou-se um plano de estudo qualitativo, exploratório e descritivo procurando captar o ponto de vista dos principais intervenientes no processo. O principal meio de recolha de dados foi a entrevista semiestruturada a 4 professores avaliadores e 4 professores avaliados do Departamento de Matemática e Ciências Experimentais de um Agrupamento de Escolas. Os resultados mostram que os docentes discordam do modelo de ADD, mas que o processo vivenciado teve caraterísticas positivas, dando os avaliadores especial relevância à oportunidade de conhecer outros processos de trabalho, a partir da observação de aulas. Avaliadores e avaliados referem ainda o bom relacionamento estabelecido entre ambos, contradizendo as preocupações expressas quando se pronunciaram sobre os problemas do modelo de avaliação. No entanto, ambos os subgrupos focam a falta de formação e qualificação profissional dos avaliadores. Em termos gerais, é possível concluir que a maior parte das dificuldades atribuídas pelos docentes ao modelo de ADD não foi depois sentida na implementação prática. Por outro lado, na opinião dos docentes, o processo experienciado não teve verdadeiro impacto na melhoria das práticas ou no desenvolvimento profissional dos docentes envolvidos. - Abstract The several reformulations of the process of the teacher performance evaluation made the process of evaluating teachers, which was first based on a self-evaluation change into a straight assessment system, which aims not only accountability and selection, but also the improvement of the practice and professional development through the supervision of the teaching practice. However, the conciliation between these perspectives has not been easy and has generated anxieties and perplexities among evaluators and evaluated. With this study we intend to know the perspective of the evaluators and of the evaluated concerning the role supervision has hold in the process of evaluating a teacher’s performance and its contribution to the professional development of the teacher and to the improvement of his practices. Thus, a qualitative, exploratory and descriptive study plan was drawn to get to know the viewpoint of the intervening ones in the process. The main means for data collection was based on a semi structured interview, targeting 4 teacher evaluators and 4 evaluated teachers of the Experimental Sciences and Mathematics Department of a group of Schools. The results show that teachers disagree with the teacher’s evaluation model, but the experienced process had positive characteristics. Besides, evaluators have given special relevance to the opportunity of getting to know other working methods thanks to the lessons’ observations. Evaluators and evaluated also refer the good relationship between both parts contradicting the fears they had when they first pronounced themselves about this evaluation model. However, both subgroups focus the lack of training and professional qualifications of the evaluators. So it’s possible to conclude that most worries mentioned by the teachers when referring to this model of teacher performance evaluation were not verified during its practical implementation. On the other hand, in the opinion of the involved teachers, the experienced process had no real impact on their practice improvement or on their professional development.

o presente estudo objetiva levantar, a partir da anãlise das atitudes dos alfabetizadores, a possibilidade de inferências acerca de um certo estilo perceptivo do alfabetizador frente ao MOBRAL e ate que ponto esse estilo afeta o desempenho docente. Pretende,tambem, caracterizar o al fabetizador, apontando a relação entre algumas de suas caracteristicas e suas percepçoes. Trata-se de um estudo de campo, realizado no Municipio do Rio de Janeiro, que apresentaI como amostra, 33,46% da população de professo - res das classes de alfabetização funcional, originadas dos convênios firma dos pelo MOBRAL, no segundo semestre de 1977. Como instrumentos de coleta de dados utilizaram-se formulãrios que foram respondidos pelos 91 sujeitos da pesquisa e seus respectivos supervisores. A avaliação do alfabetizador apresenta-se sob dois enfoques: o do superviior e o dos resultados dos alunos, obtidos nos testes de Leitura, Escrita e Cãlculo. A hipótese substantiva que orienta o estudo - a percepçao do professor das classes de alfabetização funcional afeta o seu desempenho - foi confirmada quanto à avaliação realizada pelo supervisor (correlação li near = 0,43) e infirmada quanto aos resultados dos alunos (correlação li near = 0,10). No que diz respeito às caracteristicas dos alfabetizadores, observa- se que os professores mais novos e os de nivel de escolaridade mais alto foram os que receberam melhores notas do supervisor e apresentaram m~ nor rendimento quanto aos resultados dos alunos. A pesquisa ainda apresenta informações dos professores em relaçao a diferentes aspectos do MOBRAL, destacando-se: o efetivo oferecimento de classes, o perfeito entrosamento entre alfabetizadores e alunos, a falta de discussão do conceito de alfabetização funcional e a necessidade de melhorar o desempenho dos alfabetizadores em relação ã exploração do cartaz gerador e ã utilização do trabalho de grupo. Tudo faz crer que, apesar da diferença de nível de escolaridade (grande incidência dos alfabetizadores com 2Q grau - habilitação magist~ rio) entre professores e alunos, observa-se que ambos se aproximam, apresentando tambem o professor, uma passividade, um conformismo que o faz aceitar a realidade a sua volta, entusiasmar-se e a ela dedicar-se sem, porem, problematizá-la.

This work focalize the institutional and educational evaluation, aiming to investigate the Municipal System Institutional Evaluation Performance of Teresina City Piauí (2001-2005), and to reflect about Institutional System Performance and its contribution to compose a new learning evaluation practice. In this sense, classifies elements about the evaluation practice in two Elementary Education municipal public schools, involving Education Municipal Bureau technicians as managers, pedagogues, teachers and students. Based on the ethnographic studies principles in the educational area, the work employs investigative procedures like document analysis, interviews with groups and individuals and also participator s comments. Intending to comprehend the complexity produced by the institutional and education evaluation processes, the wok reveals the Institutional Evaluation legal and educational political basis and the several positions assumed by the Learning Evaluation, as a classification tool or as a learning enhancement. This work points, as results, to a evaluation culture bipolarity carried out by the Municipal Education System as a explicit control and regulation toll, related to the classification and learning in a interaction process that operates both in the pressure and the reflection, as a culture practice established between excellence of logic and learning. The evaluation history has been construct on the evaluation actions dialectics, joint simultaneously between the Institutional Evaluation Performance and the learning evaluation. The senses, meanings and actions bipolarity is a interaction process product sustained between the institutional evaluation, under the scholar ranking application, and the learning evaluation. In this relativity, the teacher evaluation practice is found, ruled by interesting, thoughts and actions on the school evaluation, allowing a higher security and support to the learning results. Grounded in the researched reality, its possible to say that the teacher s evaluation practice is diversified, with different characteristics, when it is done in the learning search and in the learning intention. In the first case, reflects, rearranges and constructs new actions that lead the student to produce learning. In the second, shows the will, the wish of learning, but is a weak action, producing a not really significant learning and development; as a result, remains the mark approach as a determinant in the student future. The work s hope is to contribute not just to rethink these two evaluations dimensions the institutional and the learning ones but also to organize the school and to improve the pedagogic process

This research was aimed at analyzing whether there is an association between the positioning of the pupil in the classroom and his academic performance, as well as to diagnose the main factors underlying the association. Thus, this study analyzed 4 Elementary School II institutions of both public and private educational systems, in Botucatu, São Paulo, Brazil during a school year bimester. To register the positions students were seated, 29 similar classes (containing 6 rows x 6 columns) were investigated, each one with around 30 students, which resulted in a sampling of 859 students. For the questionnaire application, which objective was to verify the main reason for students’ seat choice, the same 29 classes were investigated. However, the sampling number was reduced to 692 students. In turn, for the collection of school performance and absence percentage of each student for the bimester in question, teachersevaluation books were used. As a result, it was found that the lower the percentage of the student's absences, the greater is their performance at school, and the greater their performance at school is, the closer up front to the board they are seated. Finally, the closer up to the board they are seated, the more their motivation and interest in learning increase. Therefore, there is an association between the position of a student in the classroom and his or her academic performance, where the association is conditioned by the motivation and interest in learning
