We report millimetre-wave continuum observations of the X-ray binaries Cygnus X-3, SS 433, LSI+61 303, Cygnus X-1 and GRS 1915+105. The observations were carried out with the IRAM 30 m-antenna at 250 GHz (1.25 mm) from 1998 March 14 to March 20. These millimetre measurements are complemented with centimetre observations from the Ryle Telescope, at 15 GHz (2.0 cm) and from the Green Bank Interferometer at 2.25 and 8.3 GHz (13 and 3.6 cm). Both Cygnus X-3 and SS 433 underwent moderate flaring events during our observations, whose main spectral evolution properties are described and interpreted. A significant spectral steepening was observed in both sources during the flare decay, that is likely to be caused by adiabatic expansion, inverse Compton and synchrotron losses. Finally, we also report 250 GHz upper limits for three additional undetected X-ray binary stars: LSI+65 010, LSI+61 235 and X Per.

Aims.We revisit the vicinity of the microquasar Cygnus X-3 at radio wavelengths. We aim to improve our previous search for possible associated extended radio features/hot spots in the position angle of the Cygnus X-3 relativistic jets focusing on shorter angular scales than previously explored. Methods.Our work is mostly based on analyzing modern survey and archive radio data, mainly including observations carried out with the Very Large Array and the Ryle Telescopes. We also used deep near-infrared images that we obtained in 2005. Results.We present new radio maps of the Cygnus X-3 field computed after combining multi-configuration Very Large Array archive data at 6 cm and different observing runs at 2 cm with the Ryle Telescope. These are probably among the deepest radio images of Cygnus X-3 reported to date at cm wavelengths. Both interferometers reveal an extended radio feature within a few arc-minutes of the microquasar position, thus making our detection more credible. Moreover, this extended emission is possibly non-thermal, although this point still needs confirmation. Its physical connection with the microquasar is tentatively considered under different physical scenarios. We also report on the serendipitous discovery of a likely Fanaroff-Riley type II radio galaxy only away from Cygnus X-3.

La teoría de los constructos personales (TCP) de Kelly (1955) y el enfoque sistémicoson, al menos a primera vista, dos tradiciones diferentes en el abordaje terapéutico.Originalmente, la TCP enfatizaba los procesos de construcción de un solo individuo (porejemplo, Bannister y Fransella, 1986), y sólo se amplió su objetivo gradualmente para incluir parejas (por ejemplo, G. Neimeyer, 1985; Ryle, 1975). Por lo tanto, su enfoque terapéutico era principalmente intrapsíquico o diádico. Por el contrario, la conceptualización de unproblema desde la perspectiva sistémica incluía siempre el contexto familiar. En dichocontexto, la conducta individual se entendía principalmente como una función dentro delsistema familiar más amplio. Como consecuencia, el tratamiento sistémico se centraba en grupos familiares y, por lo tanto, eliminaba el énfasis en la terapia individual...

O texto procura recensear algumas das fontes de um discurso de espécie cética sobre o problema da atribuição de qualidades estéticas a objetos: o maior propósito deste conjunto deve entender-se como sendo um ataque à origem perceptiva dos fatos sensíveis. O autor recorre para tanto aos marcos do diálogo entre a fenomenologia e a filosofia analítica, sobretudo com G. Ryle, assim como às interrogações de L. Wittgenstein sobre o estatuto da investigação estética: nestes âmbitos, identifica o problema da imagem como fato perceptivo à necessidade de uma descrição gramatical dos juízos que envolvem estas experiências. O texto indica, finalmente, no âmbito dos escritos anti-cartesianos de Ch. S. Peirce às fontes de uma teoria do estético como filosofia da discursividade aplicada aos juízos perceptivos: sua teoria semiótica, em verdade, constituiria uma transformação radical do problema da inferência, na direção de uma teoria das formas ampliativas, ou sintéticas, do entendimento (a justificação para a validade dos procedimentos indutivos e hipotéticos para a ciência e para a descrição dos juízos denotativos).

El Monismo Anómalo que Donald Davidson postuló como posible derrotero a propósito de los problemas latentes en filosofía de la mente contemporánea ha sido víctima de serias críticas, en especial aquellas planteadas por Jaegwon Kim. Sin embargo, una lectura que incluya las referencia que Davidson hizo del proyecto que Kant desarrolló en la Tercera Antinomia de la Razón Pura puede servir para ofrecer una lectura a favor de su proyecto.

The overall aim of this thesis has been to investigate the meaning of the capability to move in order to identify and describe this capability from the perspective of the one who moves in relation to specific movements. It has been my ambition to develop ways to explicate, and thereby open up for discussion, what might form an educational goal in the context of movements and movement activities in the school subject of physical education and health (PEH). In this study I have used a practical epistemological perspective on capability to move, a perspective that challenges the traditional distinction between mental and physical skills as well as between theoretical and practical knowledge. Movement actions, or ways of moving, are seen as expressions of knowing. In order to explore an understanding of the knowing involved in specific ways of moving, observations of actors’ ways of moving and their own experiences of moving were brought together. Informants from three different arenas took part: from PEH in upper secondary school, from athletics and from free-skiing. The results of the analyses suggest it is possible to describe practitioners’ developed knowing as a number of specific ways of knowing that are in turn related to specific ways of moving. Examples of such specific ways of moving may be discerning and modifying one’s own rotational velocity and navigating one’s (bodily) awareness. Additionally, exploring learners’ pre-knowing of a movement ‘as something’ may be fruitful when planning the teaching and learning of capability to move. I have suggested that these specific ways of knowing might be regarded as educational goals in PEH. In conducting this study, I have also had the ambition to contribute to the ongoing discussion of what ‘ability’ in the PEH context might mean. In considering specific ways of knowing in moving, the implicit and taken-for-granted meaning of ‘standards of excellence’ and ‘sports ability’can be discussed, and challenged.
