Uuden oppiminen luo perustan organisaation kyvylle uudentaa, kehittää jainnovoida toimintaansa. Uutta oppiakseen organisaation on luotava edellytykset tietovirtojen virtaamiselle organisaation ulkopuolelta sisäpuolelle. Tämän tekee mahdolliseksi organisaation henkilöstö, joka ymmärtää asiakasrajapintojen kautta tulevan ulkopuolisen uuden tiedon strategisen merkityksen.Tiedon strategisen merkityksen ymmärtämiseksi, henkilöstön osaamista on kehitettävä organisaation henkilöstöstrategian välityksellä. Henkilöstöstrategiaprosessi kertoo sen, miten organisaatio aikoo henkilöstön kehittämisen toteuttaa. Henkilöstöstrategiaprosessin onnistuminen edellyttää organisaation kontekstien tiedostamista ja niiden merkityksen ymmärtämistä kollektiivisen strategisen tietämyksen luomisessa.

As is well known, Hessian-based adaptive filters (such as the recursive-least squares algorithm (RLS) for supervised adaptive filtering, or the Shalvi-Weinstein algorithm (SWA) for blind equalization) converge much faster than gradient-based algorithms [such as the least-mean-squares algorithm (LMS) or the constant-modulus algorithm (CMA)]. However, when the problem is tracking a time-variant filter, the issue is not so clear-cut: there are environments for which each family presents better performance. Given this, we propose the use of a convex combination of algorithms of different families to obtain an algorithm with superior tracking capability. We show the potential of this combination and provide a unified theoretical model for the steady-state excess mean-square error for convex combinations of gradient- and Hessian-based algorithms, assuming a random-walk model for the parameter variations. The proposed model is valid for algorithms of the same or different families, and for supervised (LMS and RLS) or blind (CMA and SWA) algorithms.

A new concept and a preliminary study for a monocolumn floating unit are introduced, aimed at exploring and producing oil in ultradeep waters. This platform, which combines two relevant features-great oil storage capacity and dry tree production capability-comprises two bodies with relatively independent heave motions between them. A parametric model is used to define the main design characteristics of the floating units. A set of design alternatives is generated using this procedure. These solutions are evaluated in terms of stability requirements and dynamic response. A mathematical model is developed to estimate the first order heave and pitch motions of the platform. Experimental tests are carried out in order to calibrate this model. The response of each body alone is estimated numerically using the WAMIT (R) code. This paper also includes a preliminary study on the platform mooring system and appendages. The study of the heave plates presents the gain, in terms of decreasing the motions, achieved by the introduction of the appropriate appendages to the platform. [DOI: 10.1115/1.4001429]

The aim of the present study was to provide a numerical measure, through the process capability indexes (PCIs), C(p) and C(pk), on whether or not the manufacturing process can be considered capable of producing metamizol (500 mg) tablets. They were also used as statistical tool in order to prove the consistency of the tabletting process, making sure that the tablet weight and the content uniformity of metamizol are able to comply with the preset requirements. Besides that, the ANOVA, the t-test and the test for equal variances were applied to this study, allowing additional knowledge of the tabletting phase. Therefore, the proposed statistical approach intended to assure more safety, precision and accuracy on the process validation analysis.

This paper presents a case study that explores how operator digging style juxtaposes with mechanical capability for a class of hydraulic mining excavators. The relationships between actuator and digging forces are developed and these are used to identify the excavator's capability to apply forces in various directions. Two distinct modes of operation are examined to see how they relate to the mechanical capabilities of the linkage and to establish if one has merit over the other. It is found that one of these styles results in lower loading of the machine.

Plants have multiple potassium (K+) uptake and efflux mechanisms that are expressed throughout plant tissues to fulfill different physiological functions. Several different classes of K+ channels and carriers have been identified at the molecular level in plants. K+ transporters of the HKT1 superfamily have been cloned from wheat (Triticum aestivum), Arabidopsis, and Eucalyptus camaldulensis. The functional characteristics as well as the primary structure of these transporters are diverse with orthologues found in bacterial and fungal genomes. In this report, we provide a detailed characterization of the functional characteristics, as expressed in Xenopus laevis oocytes, of two cDNAs isolated from E. camaldulensis that encode proteins belonging to the HKT1 superfamily of K+/Na+ transporters. The transport of K+ in EcHKT-expressing oocytes is enhanced by Na+, but K+ was also transported in the absence of Na+. Na+ is transported in the absence of K+ as has been demonstrated for HKT1 and AtHKT1. Overall, the E. camaldulensis transporters show some similarities and differences in ionic selectivity to HKT1 and AtHKT1. One striking difference between HKT1 and EcHKT is the sensitivity to changes in the external osmolarity of the solution. Hypotonic solutions increased EcHKT induced currents in oocytes by 100% as compared with no increased current in HKT1 expressing or uninjected oocytes. These osmotically sensitive currents were not enhanced by voltage and may mediate water flux. The physiological function of these osmotically induced increases in currents may be related to the ecological niches that E. camaldulensis inhabits, which are periodically flooded. Therefore, the osmosensing function of EcHKT may provide this species with a competitive advantage in maintaining K+ homeostasis under certain conditions.

The suitable use of an array antenna at the base station of a wireless communications system can result in improvement in the signal-to-interference ratio (SIR). In general, the SIR is a function of the direction of arrival of the desired signal and depends on the configuration of the array, the number of elements, and their spacing. In this paper, we consider a uniform linear array antenna and study the effect of varying the number of its elements and inter-element spacing on the SIR performance. It has been argued that a firm's capacity to learn from its market is a source of both innovation and competitive advantage. However, past research has failed to conceptualize market-focused learning activity as a capability having the potential to contribute to competitive advantage. Prior innovation research has been biased toward technological innovation. However, there is evidence to suggest that both technological and non-technological innovations contribute to competitive advantage reflecting the need for a broader conceptualization of the innovation construct. Past research has also overlooked the critical role of entrepreneurship in the capability building process. Competitive advantage has been predominantly measured in terms of financial indicators of performance. In general, the literature reflects the need for comprehensive measures of organizational innovation and competitive advantage. This paper examines the role of market-focused learning capability in organizational innovation-based competitive strategy. The paper contributes to the strategic marketing theory by developing and refining measures of entrepreneurship, market-focused learning capability, organizational innovation and sustained competitive advantage, testing relationships among these constructs.

Strategic alliances represent a key driver for internationalization and growth, being the purpose of this work project to better understand the intertwined relationship between trust and the existence of an alliance management position. Previous research supports the positive impact of such position in stock market returns. However, little attention has been given to the impact of such position on the level of trust in the collaborative arrangement, which is deemed to be a key driver for alliance success. A qualitative comparative case-study of three Portuguese SMEs is used to draw conclusions from the literature to real life business cases and it demonstrates the positive impact of an alliance management position on trust.

Bioactive glass nanoparticles (BGNPs) promote an apatite surface layer in physiologic conditions that lead to a good interfacial bonding with bone.1 A strategy to induce bioactivity in non-bioactive polymeric biomaterials is to incorporate BGNPs in the polymer matrix. This combination creates a nanocomposite material with increased osteoconductive properties. Chitosan (CHT) is a polymer obtained by deacetylation of chitin and is biodegradable, non-toxic and biocompatible. The combination of CHT and the BGNPs aims at designing biocompatible spheres promoting the formation of a calcium phosphate layer at the nanocomposite surface, thus enhancing the osteoconductivity behaviour of the biomaterial. Shape memory polymers (SMP) are stimuli-responsive materials that offer mechanical and geometrical action triggered by an external stimulus.2 They can be deformed and fixed into a temporary shape which remains stable unless exposed to a proper stimulus that triggers recovery of their original shape. This advanced functionality makes such SMPs suitable to be implanted using minimally invasive surgery procedures. Regarding that, the inclusion of therapeutic molecules becomes attractive.  We propose the synthesis of shape memory bioactive nanocomposite spheres with drug release capability.3   1.  L. L. Multilayer systems obtained using the Layer-by-Layer (LbL) technology have been proposed for a variety of biomedical applications in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. LbL assembly is a simple and highly versatile method to modify surfaces and fabricate robust and highly-ordered nanostructured coatings over almost any type of substrates and with a wide range of substances. The incorporation of polyoxometalate (POM) inorganic salts as constituents of the layers presents a possibility of promoting light-stimuli responses in LbL substrates. We propose the design of a biocompatible photo-responsive multilayer system based on a Preyssler-type POM ([NaP5W30O110]14â ) and a natural origin polymer, chitosan, using the LbL methodology. The photo-reduction properties of the POM allow the spatially controlled disruption of the assembled layers due to the weakening of the electrostatic interactions between the layers. This system has found applicability in detaching devices, such as the cell sheet technology, which may solve the drawbacks actually found in other cell treatment proposals.
