Iridium and rhodium analogues of the Shilov cycle catalyst; and the investigation and applications of the Reduction-Coupled Oxo Activation (ROA) mechanistic motif towards alkane upgrading

This dissertation will cover several disparate topics, with the overarching theme centering on the investigation of organometallic C-H activation and hydrocarbon transformation and upgrading. Chapters 2 and 3 discuss iridium and rhodium analogues of the Shilov cycle catalyst for methane to methanol oxidation, and Chapter 4 on the recently discovered ROA mechanistic motif in catalysts for various alkane partial oxidation reactions. In addition, Chapter 5 discusses the mechanism of nickel pyridine bisoxazoline Negishi catalysts for asymmetric and stereoconvergent C-C coupling, and the appendices discuss smaller projects on rhodium H/D exchange catalysts and DFT method benchmarking.

Ictiólogos de la Argentina: Blás Héctor Roa.

This series will include all those people who, by means of their contributions, great and small, played a part in the consolidation of ichthyology in Argentina. The general plan of this work consists of individual factsheets containing a list of works by each author, along with reference bibliography and, whenever possible, personal pictures and additional material. The datasheets will be published primarily in chronological order, although this is subject to change by the availability of materials for successive editions. This work represents another approach for the recovery and revalorization of those who set the foundations of Argentine ichthyology while in diverse historical circumstances. I expect this to be the beginning of a major work that achieves the description of such a significant part of the history of natural sciences in Argentina.

A non-LTE abundance analysis of the post-AGB star ROA 5701

An analysis of high-resolution Anglo-Australian Telescope (AAT)/University College London Echelle Spectrograph (UCLES) optical spectra for the ultraviolet (UV)-bright star ROA 5701 in the globular cluster omega Cen (NGC 5139) is performed, using non-local thermodynamic equilibrium (non-LTE) model atmospheres to estimate stellar atmospheric parameters and chemical composition. Abundances are derived for C, N, O, Mg, Si and S, and compared with those found previously by Moehler et al. We find a general metal underabundance relative to young B-type stars, consistent with the average metallicity of the cluster. Our results indicate that ROA 5701 has not undergone a gas-dust separation scenario as previously suggested. However, its abundance pattern does imply that ROA 5701 has evolved off the asymptotic giant branch (AGB) prior to the onset of the third dredge-up.

Vida y muerte empresarial. Estudios empíricos de perdurabilidad : empresas saludables : caso Molinos Roa S. A.

Los estudios de perdurabilidad empresarial son realmente importantes para la administración y para los empresarios, ya que con ellos se puede observar cómo las empresas exitosas llevan su dirección para sobrevivir en el tiempo y a los cambios cumpliendo así mismo los objetivos de la empresa. Este trabajo se basará en una empresa Colombiana, que ha logrado perdurar y ser exitosa en el tiempo: Molinos Roa S.A, una de las empresas más reconocidas y veteranas en el sector arrocero. Los estudios establecerán las estrategias de gestión y dirección que se han tenido en cuenta para la perdurabilidad a través de los años. Adicionalmente, se expondrá cómo es la empresa y a que se dedica, se hace una comparación con diferentes modelos planteados anteriormente por la Universidad del Rosario en la Facultad de Administración. Por un lado encontraremos el modelo de los 13 indicadores de perdurabilidad empresarial (Rosario, 2009) y por otra, un indicador de perdurabilidad Cuantitativo (Rivera, Guzmán, Cadena, Beltrán & Méndez, 2006). Finalmente miraremos el modelo empresarial que esta empresa utilizo permitiéndonos así realizar una comparación con otros modelos establecidos anteriormente.

Cuando muere un rosarista muere una parte importante de esta comunidad. Todos tres con sus ejecutorias profesionales fueron testimonio elocuente y contundente de vidas encaminadas al crecimiento y progreso del país. El doctor García Sarmiento como reconocida figura del Derecho Procesal en el país, el doctor Daza Roa como miembro partícipe fundamental de la creación de la Facultad de Economía de la Universidad y el doctor Sorela, abogado de la parte civil dentro del sonado expediente por los autopréstamos del grupo grancolombiano, durante la década de los 80.

Se trata de un estudio sobre la obra de Roa Bastos, autor que ha trabajado sobre distintos géneros como poesía, cuento, novela y teatro. Se analiza su producción y las relaciones con otros componentes de la literatura latino-americana del siglo XX. Se concluye con la racionalización de algunas de sus teorías literarias para favorecer el acceso a la obra.

Jorge L. Borges y Augusto Roa Bastos: Plagios y falsificaciones, “El inmortal” y Yo el Supremo (Dossier: Novela, historia y nación en América Latina)

partir de algunas afinidades entre el relato “El inmortal” (J. L. Borges, 1947) y la novela Yo el Supremo (A. Roa Bastos, 1974) la autora indaga sobre el modo cómo estos textos desestabilizan simultáneamente las concepciones y prácticas tradicionales del discurso historiográfico y de la ficción narrativa, minando los procedimientos fundamentales y las convenciones propias de estos géneros discursivos, al menos en dos órdenes: la construcción de la figura de autor y la cita –arbitraria, irónica y paródica– de fuentes documentales, procedimientos ambos señalados por Foucault como condición para la producción discursiva de la verdad. Como consecuencia de estas transgresiones ambos textos introducen un cuestionamiento radical a la noción de una verdad histórica original, unívoca e incuestionable.

Cinema na roça: caminhos e descaminhos de uma experiência cultural em municípios fluminenses

O trabalho compreende a análise da descrição do projeto Cinema na Roça, que foi desenvolvido para realizar exibições gratuitas de filmes em localidades do interior do estado do Rio de Jeneiro, desprovidas de cinemas e videolocadoras.O projeto foi inciado em agosto de 2005 e o presente estudo está pautado na observação dos acontecimentos ao longo da realização das sessões mais significativas para o projeto.

This thesis has the aim to comprehend the development of the superior graduation in life service and daily scholar of the history teachers in-land of Sergipe. The History Course graduation was realized through the second part of (Projeto de Qualificação Docente-PQD), the so-called, Teaching Qualification Project of the Federal University of Sergipe, first settled in 1998. Eight teachers were chosen for this research with more than (15) fifteen years of teaching in the Fundamental and Medium levels at public schools of our state (Sergipe). This empiric research priviledged oral testimony from them, which (ones) reveled about the memory tragetory of life. Since childhood until the History Course graduation, besides the evidence as Principal of schools as well as the following classes. All of them were interviewed from in-land and they are from very poor families with lack of social economical conditions. Those evidencies point out economic limitations in their different towns, that contributed to the continuous obstacle in the following studies, moreover in the common market. Therefore they still teach in order to believe in who´s at the botton of this business. Their testimony about this history graduation through PQD , gave them new Professional horizons, modifying their pedagogic practice, choosing what is worth into the social space beyond life expectancy. Through the analyses from all the documents and evidence in loco, it was evident that this graduation is not sufficient to change all the acting of teaching. Consequently, the lack of scholar situation still happens because this qualification doesn´t consider the knowledge of the teachers into their contexts. This research could also observe that besides the changing purposes in the suggested common-job by the globalization, the public politics education, is still underdeveloped in-land of Sergipe. According to the educational laws which obliges all tearches should be graduated, it could be observed that nothing changed into their acting. The old curricula don´t give them new possibility in their acting. At last their salaries, poor conditions in their common-job as well as the difficult ways to get to their pos graduation course still contributes to the underdeveloped acting before they´d graduated from the period before of their graduation
