On Boas-Type Problem

R.P. Boas has found necessary and sufficient conditions of belonging of function to Lipschitz class. From his findings it turned out, that the conditions on sine and cosine coefficients for belonging of function to Lip α(0 & α & 1) are the same, but for Lip 1 are different. Later his results were generalized by many authors in the viewpoint of generalization of condition on the majorant of modulus of continuity. The aim of this paper is to obtain Boas-type theorems for generalized Lipschitz classes. To define generalized Lipschitz classes we use the concept of modulus of smoothness of fractional order.

Clarke critical values of subanalytic Lipschitz continuous functions

We prove that any subanalytic locally Lipschitz function has the Sard property. Such functions are typically nonsmooth and their lack of regularity necessitates the choice of some generalized notion of gradient and of critical point. In our framework these notions are defined in terms of the Clarke and of the convex-stable subdifferentials. The main result of this note asserts that for any subanalytic locally Lipschitz function the set of its Clarke critical values is locally finite. The proof relies on Pawlucki's extension of the Puiseuxlemma. In the last section we give an example of a continuous subanalytic function which is not constant on a segment of "broadly critical" points, that is, points for which we can find arbitrarily short convex combinations of gradients at nearby points.

Lipschitz harmonic capacity and Bilipschitz images of cantor sets

For bilipschitz images of Cantor sets in Rd we estimate the Lipschitz harmonic capacity and show this capacity is invariant under bilipschitz homeomorphisms.

Bandlimited Lipschitz functions

We study the space of bandlimited Lipschitz functions in one variable. In particular we provide a geometrical description of interpolating and sampling sequences for this space. We also give a description of the trace of such functions to sequences of critical density in terms of a cancellation condition.

LIPSCHITZ CLASSIFICATION OF FUNCTIONS ON A HOLDER TRIANGLE

Inversió cega de funcions no-lineals mitjançant un procés de Gaussianització

En aquest treball es presenta un nou mètode per a la inversió cega de funcions no-lineals mitjançant la gaussianització del senyal observat. El mètode es basa en restituir el caràcter aproximadament gaussià que presenta un senyal filtrat, gràcies al teorema del límit central,que ha vist canviada la seva distribució per l’efecte d’una funció no-lineal. Inicialment, doncs,aquest mètode és útil per a la inversió de sistemes de Wiener, tot i que en els darrers experiments realitzats s’han obtingut resultats interessants en sistemes purament no-lineals. El treball presenta dues possibles parametritzacions, la primera basada en xarxes neurals i la segona en polinomis. En els dos casos s’aconsegueix invertir la funció desconeguda sense tenir cap coneixement a priori ni del senyal original, ni del filtre, ni de la funció no-lineal que volem invertir.

Embedding theorems of funcitional classes, III

In this paper we obtain the necessary and sufficient conditions for embedding results of different function classes. The main result is a criterion for embedding theorems for the so-called generalized Weyl-Nikol'skii class and the generalized Lipschitz class. To define the Weyl-Nikol'skii class, we use the concept of a (λ,β)-derivative, which is a generalization of the derivative in the sense of Weyl. As corollaries, we give estimates of norms and moduli of smoothness of transformed Fourier series.

L'impacte dels recursos electrònics en el desenvolupament de la col·lecció, les funcions dels bibliotecaris i els consorcis de biblioteques

A mesura que els bibliotecaris anaven integrant documents audiovisuals a les seves col·leccions i més endavant documents electrònics, van passar de fer la selecció com una activitat individual a fer-la com una activitat en grup. Els bibliotecaris feien esforços per mantenir-se en el centre del procés de selecció resultant i incorporar-lo a l'organització de la biblioteca. No obstant, amb l'arribada d'Internet i la capacitat de compartir simultàniament recursos virtuals, el desenvolupament cooperatiu de la col·lecció mitjançant acords consorciats es va generalitzar un cop més. La capacitat dels consorcis de comprar productes a un preu millor que les biblioteques individualment els ha pogut fet molt populars entre els agents finançadors. Tanmateix, com a resultat d'això ha minvat el paper del bibliotecari responsable de la selecció ("selector"). A mesura que s'accelera la compra de recursos virtuals, especialment a través dels acords consorciats, desapareixerà gradualment l'autonomia de la biblioteca local i les funcions dels bibliotecaris canviaran de manera dràstica. Aquesta ràpida transformació s'il·lustra amb un debat d'OhioLINK i els seus efectes, tant positius com negatius, en una de les biblioteques membres del consorci.

Noves funcions en un entorn de canvis: implicacions de l'accés obert per a les biblioteques

Aquest article examina les possibles implicacions de l'accés obert en la gestió de les biblioteques. Aquesta examinació té lloc en un context en què s'assumeix que el model tradicional d'edició i l'accés obert coexisteixen. L'accés obert presenta nombrosos reptes i oportunitats, però les biblioteques emprenedores trobaran noves formes per servir els usuaris en un nou entorn en el que es combina l'accés obert amb el tradicional (MOA). Per tal de portar-ho a terme, caldrà que aquestes biblioteques redissenyin la seva organització, i això podrà suposar una pressió sobre els recursos econòmics i de personal.

On the boundedness on inhomogeneous Lipschitz spaces of fractional integrals, singular integrals and hypersingular integrals associated to non-doubling measures on metric spaces

In this paper we prove T1 type necessary and sufficient conditions for the boundedness on inhomogeneous Lipschitz spaces of fractional integrals and singular integrals defined on a measure metric space whose measure satisfies a n-dimensional growth. We also show that hypersingular integrals are bounded on these spaces.
