O PAPEL CONTRADITÓRIO DO PROFESSOR EVENTUAL DA REDE PÚBLICA DE ENSINO DO ESTADO DE SÃO PAULO NA ARTICULAÇÃO DAS RELAÇÕES DE TRABALHO E PROFISSÃO DOCENTE: LÚMPEN-PROFESSORADO ?

Esta pesquisa busca diagnosticar como ocorre a contratação e a atuação do professor eventual do EF II e EM na rede pública de ensino do estado de São Paulo e se essa forma de contratação e de atuação é a causa da quase inexistência desse professor nessa rede. Parte da hipótese de que a forma de contratação coloca esse professor em situação de lúmpen-professorado e que a pouca procura pelo professor eventual para o desempenho dessa função relaciona-se a esse fato, intimamente ligado ao não reconhecimento da importância de sua atuação, ao caráter contraditório do seu papel e às condições em que se dá seu exercício, levando-o a deixar de procurar esse tipo de atividade. Objetiva-se apresentar, discutir e promover uma reflexão a respeito desses temas e contribuir com estudos sobre o assunto, para uma possível análise e quiçá estruturação de uma política educacional adequada nesse âmbito. A carência de estudos sobre o tema justifica esta pesquisa. A partir da revisão bibliográfica, levantaram-se autores que abordaram o assunto, porém, sob outros pontos de vista. A metodologia abrangeu a leitura da bibliografia básica e complementar, a pesquisa documental (legislação federal e do estado de São Paulo), paralelamente a um estudo de caso e pesquisa qualitativa. Numa contextualização histórica geral, priorizaram-se as mudanças nas relações de trabalho e profissão docente, a construção e desconstrução de direitos adquiridos pelo professor, publicados em legislação específica, e, nesse ínterim, a figura do professor eventual. Abordou-se, então, numa perspectiva teórica, a situação precária da profissão docente e suas consequências, mostrando-se o panorama da deterioração do magistério público. O estudo de caso foi realizado por meio de observação sistemática numa escola estadual da periferia do Grande ABC (SP), além da coleta de depoimentos e/ou entrevistas junto a três professores eventuais, três gestores, um gerente de organização escolar e do secretário adjunto da Secretaria da Educação do estado de São Paulo, no intuito de valorar recortes dos diversos olhares. O estudo encerra-se com a discussão sobre a articulação entre os elementos de pesquisa. Os resultados contemplaram as questões propostas quanto à atuação e à contratação do professor eventual, confirmando assim as hipóteses levantadas para a pesquisa.

An anthology of voices: an analysis of trainee drama teacher's monologues

This paper reports on research undertaken into the processes through which student teachers begin to formulate an identity as a professional teacher. Using Fuller’s investigations into the attitudes of trainee teachers towards their courses (1969) as a baseline, a discussion is established on the place of the student voice in contemporary initial teacher training programmes. In order to further investigate the potential importance of affording student teachers the opportunity to reflect on and express their thinking and feeling as they embark on their chosen career path, the concerns of a group of student drama teachers were recorded and interpreted. The vehicle for this exercise involved writing and subsequently performing reflective monologues. These were analysed by using The Listening Guide as composed by Gilligan et al. (2003). This paper illustrates how the methodology revealed distinct yet generally harmonious voices at work in the group in the first few weeks of their training year. Subsequent analysis suggests a model for the initial formation of a teaching identity built on aspects of self, role and character. Recognising the relative values and relationships between these factors for student teachers may, it is argued, provide greater security for them while affording their tutors insights which could help them to re-shape initial teacher training programmes. A inclusão da criança com Síndrome de Down na rede regular de ensino: desafios e possibilidades

O estudo teve como objetivo buscar evidências na literatura acerca da inclusão de crianças com Síndrome de Down na rede regular de ensino. Elaboraram-se revisão da literatura e busca dos artigos nas bases de dados PubMed e PsycINFO, utilizando as palavras-chave Down syndrome, schools, mainstreaming (education), education, infant, newborn, adolescent, child e preschool, no período de 1994 a 2007. Selecionaram-se oito artigos e sua análise permitiu a identificação do tema: experiências e recomendações para a inclusão. Os dados desta revisão, em sua maioria provenientes de relatos de experiências, indicaram que os fatores que colaboraram ou dificultaram o processo de inclusão da criança com síndrome de Down na rede regular de ensino relacionaram-se à escola, aos pais e ao professor. Os resultados deste estudo oferecem possibilidades para melhorar o processo de inclusão, apresentam os desafios e ainda apontam a necessidade do desenvolvimento de novas pesquisas, cujos resultados possam ser aplicados na prática.

The physical education teacher's competences and professional formation

This study has as objective identifies the necessary competences to the physical education teachers of the basic education, in the teachers` of the public network of teaching of the Sao Paulo state perspective, licentiates and exits of the Physical Education School and Sport of the Sao Paulo University starting from 1995. It is a qualitative research, of nature no experimental, consisting of two studies (diagnostic and deepening). As instruments, questionnaire and semi-structured interview were used. It happened what the teachers judge importantly mobilize determined knowledges placed in a hierarchy or associated during the teaching practice, such as: knowledges pedagogic-educational, technical knowledges and cultural luggage, inserted in the current context and considering the cultural, social, political, economical and education transformations occurred along the history. There was shown up in this study the relevance of the formation continued for the teachers of Physical Education, who found her essential and basic added to the initial formation.

Distance Education in Another Register: Uses and Appropriation of Technologies in Teacher Education

The article explores the relationships between distance education, information and communication technologies and teacher education. Its focus is on the interactive media and its uses in an in-service teacher education program, in Brazil, and on the ways the teachers used the technologies doing their own appropriateness. It departs from the presuppositions of the society of knowledge, that is, the close relationships between new technologies, continuing professional development and social inclusion, arguing that this paradigm is an ideological discourse. The article shows how the teachers have used the technologies in creative ways, calling the attention to the importance of this teachers` abilities as a basic skill to facing the challenges of the society of knowledge itself.

Teacher strikes in Brazil and its representations: ""orderly disciplined class"" and ""education workers"" (Sao Paulo, 1963-1979)

This article analyses the teacher strikes that took place in the state of Sao Paulo ( Brazil). These strikes produced new representations of the profession and gave a particular visibility to its interest aggregation processes. These same strikes appeared as major incentives for the organisation of teachers in Brazil. The October 1963 strike - about six months before the military coup of 1964 - was the first to mobilise the whole of the teaching profession of the Sao Paulo state: primary and secondary education, public and private schools were all involved. The two other strikes, organised by teachers in the public schools in 1978 and 1979, took place under the dictatorship. As such, they had a particular significance in the process of recovering civil liberties in the final stages of the military regime in the 1980s. This article is based on an analysis of the front-page covering of these teacher strikes by the two major journals of the state, O Estado de S. Paulo and Folha de S. Paulo. With Chartier`s concept collective representations in mind, this approach allows us to grasp how large-circulation journals diffuse images of the profession and its organisational configurations. These press pictures are analysed by dint of the analytical frame Roland Barthes advanced in the 1960s, i.e. by reading their denoted, connoted and symbolic messages.
