Viirojen vedenpoistokyvyn ja markkeeraavuuden analysointi HSRT-laitteistolla

Tässä diplomityössä tutkittiin eri tyyppisten viirojen vedenpoisto-ominaisuuksia ja markkeeraavuutta HSRT-laitteistolla. Tarkoitus oli myös selvittää muodostuvan paperiarkin rakennetta ja HSRT-laitteiston soveltuvuutta viiravertailuun. Työn kirjallisuusosassa käsitellään märkäviiroja sekä niiden valmistamista, valintaa eri kriteerein, kulumista ja puhdistamista. Lisäksi käsitellään viirojen markkeeraavuutta ja viiraosan vedenpoistoa. Sekä vedenpoistokyvyn että markkeeraavuuden osalta tulokset olivat niin tasaiset eri suureiden suhteen, ettei etenkään sisäviirojen välillä saatu näkyviin selviä eroja. Markkeeraavuuden osalta laitteiston ominaisuutena näyttäisi olevan se, ettei sisäviiran puoleinen markkeeraus näy arkissa. Tästä syystä vertailut DPCJ-laitteen ja koepaperikoneen tuloksiin olivat mahdottomia. Sen sijaan ulkoviiran puolella markkeeraus oli havaittavissa useimmissa tapauksissa. Tutkimuksen perusteella vaikuttaa kuitenkin siltä, ettei HSR-Tester sovellu viirojen vedenpoistonkyvyn ja markkeeraavuuden vertailuun.

Inter- and intra-tester reliability of clinical measurement to determine medio-lateral patellar position using a pachymeter or visual assessment

The aim was to investigate inter-tester and intra-tester reliability and parallel reliability between a visual assessment method and a method using a pachymeter for locating the mid-point of the patella in determining the medial/lateral patella orientation. Fifteen asymptomatic subjects were assessed and the mid-point of the patella was determined by both methods on two separate occasions two weeks apart. Inter-tester reliability was obtained by ANOVA and by intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC); intra-tester reliability was obtained by a paired t-test and ICC; and parallel reliability was obtained by Pearson`s Correlation and ICC, for the measurement on the first and second evaluations. There was acceptable inter-tester agreement (p = 0.490) and reliability for the visual inspection (ICC = 0.747) and for the pachymeter (ICC = 0.716) at the second evaluation. The inter-tester reliability in the first evaluation was unacceptable (visual ICC = 0.604; pachymeter ICC = 0.612). Although there was statistical similarity between measurements for the first and second evaluations for all testers, intra-tester reliability was not acceptable for both methods: visual (examiner 1 ICC = 0.175; examiner 2 ICC = 0.189; examiner 3 ICC = 0.155) and pachymeter (examiner 1 ICC = 0.214; examiner 2 ICC = 0.246; examiner 3 ICC = 0.069). Parallel reliability gave a perfect correlation at the first evaluation (r=0.828; p<0.001) and at the second (r=0.756; p<0.001) and reliability was between acceptable and very good (ICC = [0.748-0.813]). Both visual and pachymeter methods provide reliable and similar medial/lateral patella orientation and are reliable between different examiners, but the results between the two assessments at 2 weeks` interval demonstrated an unacceptable reliability. Metabolic activation of heterocyclic amines and other procarcinogens in Salmonella typhimurium umu tester strains expressing human cytochrome P4501A1, 1A2, 1B1, 2C9, 2D6, 2E1, and 3A4 and human NADPH-P450 reductase and bacterial O-acetyltransferase

We investigated roles of different forms of cytochrome P450 (P450 or CYP) in the metabolic activation of heterocyclic amines (HCAs) and other procarcinogens to genotoxic metabolite(s) in the newly developed umu tester strains Salmonella typhimurium (S. typhimurium) OY1002/1A1, OY1002/1A2, OY1002/1B1, OY1002/2C9, OY1002/2D6, OY1002/2E1 and OY 1002/3A4. which express respective human P450 enzymes and NADPH-cytochrome P350 reductase (reductase) and bacterial O-acetyltransferase (O-AT). These strains were established by introducing two plasmids into S. typhimurium TA 1535, one carrying both P450 and the reductase cDNA in a bicistronic construct under control of an IPTG-inducible double me promoter and the other, pOA 102, carrying O-AT and umuClacZ fusion genes. Expression levels of CYP were found to range between 35 to 550 nmol/l cell culture in the strains tested. O-AT activities in different strains ranged from 52 to 135 nmol isoniazid acetylated/min/mg protein. All HCAs tested, and 2-aminoanthracene and 2-aminofluorene exhibited high genotoxicity in the OY1002/1A2 strain, and genotoxicity of 2-amino-3-methylimidazo [4,5-f]quinoline was detected in both the OY1002/1A1 and OY1002/1A2 strains. 1-Amino-1,4-dimethyl-5H-pyrido[4.3-b]-indole and 3-amino-1-methyl-5H-pyrido[4,3-b]-indole were activated in the OY1002/1A1, OY1002/1B1, OY1002/1A2, and OY1002/3A4 strains. Aflatoxin B-1 exhibited genotoxicity in the OY1002/1A2, OY1002/1A1, and OY1002/3A4 strains. beta -Naphthylamine and benzo[a]pyrene did not exhibit genotoxicity in any of the strains. These results suggest that CYP1A2 is the major cytochrom P450 enzyme involved in bioactivation of HCAs. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Measuring range of active cervical rotation in a position of full head flexion using the 3D Fastrak measurement system: an intra-tester reliability study

Most external assessments of cervical range of motion assess the upper and lower cervical regions simultaneously. This study investigated the within and between days reliability of the clinical method used to bias this movement to the upper cervical region, namely measuring rotation of the head and neck in a position of full cervical flexion. Measurements were made using the Fastrak measurement system and were conducted by one operator. Results indicated high levels of within and between days repeatability (range of ICC2,1 values: 0.85-0.95). The ranges of axial rotation to right and left, measured with the neck positioned in full flexion, were approximately 56% and 50%, respectively of total cervical rotation, which relates well to the proportional division of rotation in the upper and lower cervical regions. These results suggest that this method of measuring rotation would be appropriate for use in subject studies where movement dysfunction is present in the upper cervical region, such as those with cervicogenic headache. Medição do coeficiente de atrito da superfície de pavimentos: estudo do equipamento Grip Tester

Ao nível da segurança de circulação rodoviária e aeroportuária, a aderência entre os pneumáticos e a superfície do pavimento apresenta-se como uma das características superficiais mais importantes dos pavimentos em situações de piso molhado. Mundialmente, tem-se dado relevante importância a este facto, levando a que nas últimas décadas e anos, se tenham estudado diversos índices e equipamentos de medição do coeficiente de atrito de um dado pavimento aquando da presença de água. O objectivo da presente dissertação é o de aprofundar o conhecimento sobre a medição do coeficiente de atrito da superfície dos pavimentos de infraestruturas rodoviárias e aeroportuárias, com a particular incidência no estudo do equipamento GripTester. O trabalho realizado consistiu principalmente na análise de valores do coeficiente de atrito da camada de desgaste medidos no pavimento de um aeródromo, por três equipamentos GripTester, através de um ensaio de comparação interlaboratorial que foi organizado especificamente no âmbito desta dissertação. O trabalho desenvolvido permitiu concluir que foi importante desenvolver este estudo comparativo. Com efeito, a análise dos resultados do ensaio de comparação interlaboratorial mostrou que há diferenças no desempenho dos equipamentos participantes, que interessa aprofundar em estudos comparativos futuros.

Simulador de rendimiento Stress Tester

Desarrollo de una aplicación para la empresa CCSAgresso, con el objetivo de evaluar el rendimiento en una máquina, mediante los datos aportados por pruebas de simulación. Cada prueba de simulación está contenida en un fichero de texto, cuya lectura y almacenamiento en la base de datos son la base de la aplicación. Los objetivos son poder introducir, actualizar, gestionar y mostrar esos valores de la base de datos con una aplicación sencilla, intuitiva y que realice todas las operaciones que necesita el usuario.

The HSR on chromosome 1 of the house mouse, Mus domesticus: distribution and frequency in Switzerland.

A total of 357 house mice (Mus domesticus) from 83 localities uniformly distributed throughout Switzerland were screened for the presence of a homogenously staining region (HSR) on chromosome 1. Altogether 47 mice from 11 localities were HSR/+ or HSR/HSR. One sample of 11 individuals all had an HSR/HSR karyotype. Almost all mice with the variant were collected from the Rhone valley (HSR frequency: 61%) and Val Bregaglia (HSR frequency: 81%). For samples from most of the area of Switzerland, the HSR was absent. There was no strong association between the geographic distribution of the HSR and the areas of occurrence of metacentrics. However, at Chiggiogna the HSR was found on Rb (1.3). Possible explanations for the HSR polymorphism are discussed.

STUDIES ON THE CELL STRUCTURE AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF NR/LATEX RECLAIM/HSR BASED MICROCELLULAR SHEETS

In natural rubber/high styrene resin microcellular sheets, part of natural rubber was replaced by latex reclaim prepared from waste latex products. The mechanical properties and cell structure of the products were evaluated. It was found that latex reclaim can replace about 30% of natural rubber without affecting the technical properties of the microcellular sheets.

El libro de texto de Historia para escolares que se inician en su conocimiento puede plantearse como una narración con argumento. No puede seguir siendo una yuxtaposición de episodios o una nómina de personajes. El libro de texto de Historia debe ser un auténtico libro de actualidad. No puede nunca presentarse como un libro de actualidades. La actualidad permanece y las actualidades son arrolladas.

Front End Evaluation of 'Tester' Exhibition to be Developed into a Travelling Sports Exhibition

The purpose of this evaluation is to develop a framework that will help in planning and implementing the mobile sport exhibition, increase visitor satisfaction and aid At Bristol in building successful exhibits. The evaluation mainly focuses on visitor interaction with exhibits. It is believed that learning does occur in science centres and museums. The evaluation will therefore find out if learning occurs in the Sports exhibition and if so, the nature of the learning outcomes. The evaluation also discusses advantages and disadvantages of travelling exhibitions and identifies the characteristics of good exhibits that form the basis of the framework.From the results, an indication is that children make the larger proportion of visitors to Sportastic. Their age ranges, under 10 and 10 to 15 years constituted 21% and 30% respectively. The three most enjoyed exhibits are the Sprint Challenge (running), BATAK (test your reaction and Hot Shots (football). Visitors say these exhibits are enjoyed because they are fun, competitive, entertaining, interactive and hands-on. Skateboard Challenge and Skeleton Bob are among the exhibits least enjoyed since they are reported to be boring and uncomfortable to use. The learning outcomes from the exhibits are; increased knowledge about balancing, reaction, pulse and strength.
