A research work on the micro firms in Caroni district, has been developing since 1994. Such study pretends to deepen the theory that let the empiric- philosophical- conceptual and methodological building of a new discipline in education, called Androergology. The most outstanding aspects that can be seen from the philosophical bases are the following: its ontology, as aempowerment of the individual abilities through mental structures change in a community of pairs; ethics as the one based on the assignment of Good for the process of creatingsocioproductive communities_ which also means a liberating function since it can achieve a sustainable economic development by the assembling of micro firms nets; and the epistemology derived from the bases of the General Theory of Systems and the Morin’s circular complexities. Among the principles of this discipline that can be mentioned are ContinuingEducation- since the individual already belongs to a society that always creates knowledge, global markets - the undertaker should produce for a world society, the age of this microfirm’s man- as a discussion upon the knowledge production in that individual as an epistemic subject, the Integral Education- since the spiritual, social and humanistic aspects should beadded to the technical ones; and the Contextual Formation-since the process should take place into the unit of production. The androergologic methodology is thought out as a processof two inputs: the business needs diagnosis and the knowledge of context. The central part focuses its attention on the adult learning process situation; and the concentric circles whichmean the ideal synergical relationship between the programmatic contents, learning processes, the androergologist and the necessary supervising process, which results to be theintegral and innovating element of this method.

One of the principal themes of genetic epistemology is the study of the psycho-genetic and historical-critical constitution of knowledge and its necessary structures. A main topic in this area is the relationship between abstract logical-mathematical structures and the epistemological-psychological structures of the epistemic subject. In genetic epistemology, formalizing and axiomatizing epistemological-psychological structures constitute one of the principal methods for showing the correlation between the two types of structures: the formalization of the epistemological-psychological structureresults in an axiomatic formal system which also expresses the abstractlogical-mathematical structure. In this context, it is interesting to note that some epistemological-psychological structures have been resistant to formalization and axiomatization, as in the case of the structure of concrete operational period groupings. Cases like these lead us to ask if there are general methods of formalizing that are consistent with the results and the general basis of genetic epistemology and genetic psychology, especially with regard to the claim that formalizing is a process, not a state, and that such general methods must therefore conform with the possibility of the continuous constitution of epistemological-psychological structures. In this paper we present some reflections, based on the general concepts of genetic epistemology and psychology and on the logical-mathematical structures of digraphs, on proposing a general method of formalization consistent with the results and the general basis of these two areas, including the possibility of the continuous constitution of epistemological-psychological structures.

The objective of this paper is to introduce a model, called the Model of the System of Schemes of Actions and Operations on Symbols and Signs (MoSSAOSS), that articulates a systemic, systematic, and synthetic view of some of the principal theoretic and experimental results obtained by Piaget and his coworkers. Here, the term model means a schematic representation of experience, the relation of whose elements can be explored by means of logic and mathematics in order to deduce properties that correspond, in a sufficiently accurate form, to direct observable empirical properties. The MoSSAOSS model is intended to reveal in an abstract and simplified form, and through explicit hypothesis and definitions, the general structure and function of the System of Schemes of Actions and Operations on Symbols and Signs. It is this system that furnishes the elements that make possible the diverse structures necessary for the knowledge of the epistemic subject, the subject of knowledge, the stages in their construction, and the attribution of significations to objects, to situations, and to the actions and operations of the subject itself.

In this paper we discuss the question of the a priori character of the necessary structures of knowledge according to Genetic Epistemology, focusing on the notion of space in particular. We establish some relations between Jean Piaget’s Genetic Epistemology and Immanuel Kant’s Critical Philosophy, discuss the notion of the a priori according to Kant in relation to the notion of space, and discuss the construction of the notion of space by the epistemic subject according to Genetic Epistemology, focusing on the Sensory-Motor Period. We conclude that, in Genetic Epistemology, space is still thought of as an a priori form of phenomena in the sense that the notion of space is what spatially organizes the data of perception, being the condition of perception. Furthermore, it is not directly abstracted from experience, but is constructed by the epistemic subject in its interaction with the environment, occurring with the structuring of the system of schemes of action. This analysis leads to the notion of the constructed a priori that, after its construction, has the characteristics of the a priori as conceived by Kant.

This group of papers explores the development of student understanding and application of the discursive tools of science to reason in this subject, as the basis for classroom practices that parallel scientists’ knowledge production practices. We explore how this account of the disciplinary literacies of science can be enabled through effective pedagogies. The papers draw on research from Australia and Sweden that have overlapping agendas and theoretical perspectives including pragmatism (Peirce 1931-58; Dewey 1938/1997), social semiotics (Kress et al. 2001) and socio-cultural perspectives on language and learning (Lemke, 2004). The papers examine the role of language/multimodal representations in generating knowledge claims in science classrooms, the classroom epistemologies that support learning, and assessment practices from this perspective. A large body of conceptual change research has identified trenchant problems in conceptual learning in science, spawning long-standing and ongoing programs to identify pedagogies to address this. By redefining the problem in terms of language and representation, we aim to offer a way forward to support student engagement and learning in science.

The paper describes epistemic marking in Ika (Arwako-Chibchan, Colombia) and proposes an analysis in terms of a typologically unusual pattern called conjunct/disjunct, which has been attested for a small number of Asian and South American languages. Canonically, conjunct occurs with first person subjects in statements and with second person in questions, as opposed to any other combination of subject and sentence-type, which is disjunct. The pattern found in Ika both conforms to expectations and, at the same time, contributes to a more nuanced analysis of the functional motivations of the conjunct/disjunct pattern. In Ika, conjunct marking encodes the speaker's direct access to an event that involves either (or both) of the speech participants. In addition, conjunct/disjunct marking interacts predictably with a second set of epistemic markers that encode asymmetries in the epistemic authority of the speaker and the addressee. The analysis builds on first-hand data but remains tentative, awaiting further investigation.

Auditor decisions regarding the causes of accounting misstatements can have an audit effectiveness and efficiency. Specifically, overconfidence in one's decision can lead to an ineffective audit, whereas underconfidence in one's decision can lead to an inefficient audit. This dissertation explored the implications of providing various types of information cues to decision-makers regarding an Analytical Procedure task and investigated the relationship between different types of evidence cues (confirming, disconfirming, redundant or non-redundant) and the reduction in calibration bias. Information was collected using a laboratory experiment, from 45 accounting students participants. Research questions were analyzed using a 2 x 2 x 2 between-subject and within-subject analysis of covariance (ANCOVA). ^ Results indicated that presenting subjects with information cues dissimilar to the choice they made is an effective intervention in reducing the common overconfidence found in decision-making. In addition, other information characteristics, specifically non-redundant information can help in reducing a decision-maker's overconfidence/calibration bias for difficulty (compared to easy) decision-tasks. ^

This study is a corpus-based comparison between student essays written in the subject areas of English linguistics and literature at undergraduate level. They are 200 Bachelor degree theses submitted at a variety of university departments (such as English, Language and Literature, Humanities, Social and Intercultural Studies) in Sweden. The comparison concerns frequencies of core modal verbs and how often they occur together with the I, we and it subject pronouns and in the structures this/the [essay, study, project, thesis] when students attempt to communicate their personal claims. Quantitative and qualitative analyses of the essays show few similarities in the ways that core modal verbs appear in both disciplines. The results indicate mainly distinct differences, especially in relation to clusters and variation of performative verbs. Specific patterns in the ways that students use core modal verbs as hedges have also been identified.
