Tutkielman tavoitteena on selvittää sähköisten tavaran toimitusasiakirjojen käytön vaikutukset hankinta- ja logistiikkapalveluita tarjoavan yrityksen toimitusketjun loppupään toimintoihin. Lisäksi työssä rakennetaan konstruktiivisen tutkimusmenetelmän viitekehyksen mukainen toimintamalli yrityksen käyttöä varten. Toimintamallin avulla tarkastellaan kohdeyrityksen mahdollisuutta parantaa toimitusketjun läpinäkyvyyttä, tehostaa sidosryhmien välistä tiedonsiirtoa ja vähentää virheitä ja manuaalista työtä nykyisissä prosesseissa. Työn keskeisin sisältö rakentuu kohdeyrityksen käyttämille kuljetusyrityksille tehdyn kuljetusliikekyselyn, tarkkaan kuvatun nykytilan sekä käytännön ongelmaan rakennetun konstruktion ympärille. Kuljetusliikekyselyn avulla saadaan käyttökelpoinen kuva kuljetusyritysten nykytilasta sekä tulevaisuuden suunnitelmista sähköisiin tavaran toimitusasiakirjoihin liittyen. Nykytilan kuvauksella nostetaan esiin prosesseja ja toimintoja joiden toimintaan voidaan oleellisesti vaikuttaa informaatioteknologian sekä prosessimuutosten avulla. Konstruktion rakentamisessa pääpaino on suunnattu läpinäkyvän ja tehokkaan toimitusketjun aikaansaamisessa. Tutkielman konstruktiota, sähköisten tavaran toimitusasiakirjojen toimintamallia, tarkastellaan yrityksen liiketoiminnan näkökulmasta peilaamalla oletettuja parannuksia aikaisempaan teoriapohjaan. Lisäksi toimintamallin soveltumista reaalimaailman ongelman ratkaisuun arvioidaan diplomityön ohjausryhmästä koostuvan johtajapaneelin tekemällä SWOT-analyysillä sekä heikolla markkinatestillä. Sidosryhmien välisen toiminnan tehostumista arvioidaan kvalitatiivisin menetelmin

This paper focuses on likelihood ratio based evaluations of fibre evidence in cases in which there is uncertainty about whether or not the reference item available for analysis - that is, an item typically taken from the suspect or seized at his home - is the item actually worn at the time of the offence. A likelihood ratio approach is proposed that, for situations in which certain categorical assumptions can be made about additionally introduced parameters, converges to formula described in existing literature. The properties of the proposed likelihood ratio approach are analysed through sensitivity analyses and discussed with respect to possible argumentative implications that arise in practice.

On 9 October 1963 a catastrophic landslide suddenly occurred on the southern slope of the Vaiont dam reservoir. A mass of approximately 270 million m3 collapsed into the reservoir generating a wave that overtopped the dam and hit the town of Longarone and other villages nearby. Several investigations and interpretations of the slope collapse have been carried out during the last 45 years, however, a comprehensive explanation of both the triggering and the dynamics of the phenomenon has yet to be provided. In order to re-evaluate the currently existing information on the slide, an electronic bibliographic database and an ESRI-geodatabase have been developed. The chronology of the collected documentation showed that most of the studies for re-evaluating the failure mechanisms were conducted in the last decade, as a consequence of knowledge, methods and techniques recently acquired. The current contents of the geodatabase will improve definition of the structural setting that influenced the slide and led to the the propagation of the displaced rock mass. The objectives, structure and contents of the e-bibliography and Geodatabase are indicated, together with a brief description on the possible use of the alphanumeric and spatial contents of the databases.

This communication seeks to draw the attention of researchers and practitioners dealing with forensic DNA profiling analyses to the following question: is a scientist's report, offering support to a hypothesis according to which a particular individual is the source of DNA detected during the analysis of a stain, relevant from the point of view of a Court of Justice? This question relates to skeptical views previously voiced by commentators mainly in the judicial area, but is avoided by a large majority of forensic scientists. Notwithstanding, the pivotal role of this question has recently been evoked during the international conference "The hidden side of DNA profiles. Artifacts, errors and uncertain evidence" held in Rome (April 27th to 28th, 2012). Indeed, despite the fact that this conference brought together some of the world's leading forensic DNA specialists, it appeared clearly that a huge gap still exists between questions lawyers are actually interested in, and the answers that scientists deliver to Courts in written reports or during oral testimony. Participants in the justice system, namely lawyers and jurors on the one hand and forensic geneticists on the other, unfortunately talk considerably different languages. It thus is fundamental to address this issue of communication about results of forensic DNA analyses, and open a dialogue with practicing non-scientists at large who need to make meaningful use of scientific results to approach and help solve judicial cases. This paper intends to emphasize the actuality of this topic and suggest beneficial ways ahead towards a more reasoned use of forensic DNA in criminal proceedings.

This paper examines the local power of the likelihood ratio, Wald, score and gradient tests under the presence of a scalar parameter, phi say, that is orthogonal to the remaining parameters. We show that some of the coefficients that define the local powers remain unchanged regardless of whether phi is known or needs to be estimated, where as the others can be written as the sum of two terms, the first of which being the corresponding term obtained as if phi were known, and the second, an additional term yielded by the fact that phi is unknown. The contribution of each set of parameters on the local powers of the tests can then be examined. Various implications of our main result are stated and discussed. Several examples are presented for illustrative purposes
