A model of dynamical process and stochastic jump has been put forward to study the pattern evolution in damage-fracture. According to the final states of evolution processes, the evolution modes can be classified as globally stable modes (GS modes) and evolution induced catastrophic modes (ElC modes); the latter are responsible for fracture. A statistical description is introduced to clarify the pattern evolution in this paper. It is indicated that the appearance of fracture in disordered materials should be depicted by probability distribution function.

Ternary CoNiP nanowire (NW) arrays have been synthesized by electrochemical deposition inside the nanochannels of anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) template. The CoNiP NWs deposited at room temperature present soft magnetic properties, with both parallel and perpendicular coercivities less than 500 Oe. In contrast, as the electrolyte temperature (T-elc) increases from 323 to 343 K, the NWs exhibit hard magnetic properties with coercivities in the range of 1000-2500 Oe. This dramatic increase in coercivities can be attributed to the domain wall pinning that is related to the formation of Ni and Co nanocrystallites and the increase of P content. The parallel coercivity (i.e. the applied field perpendicular to the membrane surface) maximum as high as 2500 Oe with squareness ratio up to 0.8 is achieved at the electrolyte temperature of 328 K. It has been demonstrated that the parallel coercivity of CoNiP NWs can be tuned in a wide range of 200-2500 Oe by controlling the electrolyte temperature, providing an easy way to control magnetic properties and thereby for their integration with magnetic-micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS). 茉莉酸(JA)以及茉莉酸甲醋(MeJA)统称为茉莉素(jasmonates),是由 亚麻酸起始合成的一类具环戊酮基的广泛存在于植物界的类激素,它们对于植物 的发育和抗逆性等都起着重要的作用。为了进一步的了解茉莉酸的生物合成以及 功能,我们对”冬小麦中的茉莉酸生物合成、低温环境中的作用及对拟南芥开花时 间的影响等方面进行了研究。 为了方便分离茉莉酸诱导的基因,我们构建了一个高质量的小麦茉莉酸诱导 文库。未扩增时滴度为3一4xlo6pfu/ml,平均插入的长度为1.2kb。TaJIP是一个 JA诱导的基因,进一步的Northern分析发现它亦可以被低温诱导表达,这给了 我们一个提示,JA信号系统可能参与了植物对低温反应的过程。当外源施加JA于拟南芥时,无论是春化处理或者没有春化处理,无论是C24 还是Col生态型,开花时间都有所增加,而且进一步的NOrthern实验证明,这 种外源的JA的处理延迟开花的现象是与开花抑制基因FLC表达水平的增加相平 行,与长日促进途径中的主效基因CO的表达水平无关。这种JA处理延迟开花的 现象与FLC表达水平增加相平行的现象,表明了JA有可能是通过作用于FLC, 使它的表达水平增加来延迟开花。 Aos(Allene oxide synthase)是茉莉酸合成的脂氧合酶途径中的第一个关 键酶。我们克隆了小麦中的该基因并作了表达分析。它的开放阅读框(ORF)约 1410 bp,编码的多肤长约470个氨基酸,推测其蛋白分子量为51.9 kDa,pI为 9.39。Southern分析表明其在基因组中的拷贝数为3个。其mRNA表达可被外源 的JA强烈的诱导。处理10小时达到高峰。RNA原位杂交表明,该基因在幼苗 中组织特异表达,主要集中在幼叶,特别是在维管束区域,与大麦中的AOS不 同的是,它还在胚芽鞘和茎尖的维管束区域有强烈的表达信号。原位杂交还显示 La3十并不能阻断JA对它的诱导表达

The amorphous silicon photo-sensor studied in this thesis, is a double pin structure (p(a-SiC:H)-i’(a-SiC:H)-n(a-SiC:H)-p(a-SiC:H)-i(a-Si:H)-n(a-Si:H)) sandwiched between two transparent contacts deposited over transparent glass thus with the possibility of illumination on both sides, responding to wave-lengths from the ultra-violet, visible to the near infrared range. The frontal il-lumination surface, glass side, is used for light signal inputs. Both surfaces are used for optical bias, which changes the dynamic characteristics of the photo-sensor resulting in different outputs for the same input. Experimental studies were made with the photo-sensor to evaluate its applicability in multiplexing and demultiplexing several data communication channels. The digital light sig-nal was defined to implement simple logical operations like the NOT, AND, OR, and complex like the XOR, MAJ, full-adder and memory effect. A pro-grammable pattern emission system was built and also those for the validation and recovery of the obtained signals. This photo-sensor has applications in op-tical communications with several wavelengths, as a wavelength detector and to execute directly logical operations over digital light input signals.

BACKGROUND: Earlobe crease (ELC) has been associated with cardiovascular diseases (CVD) or risk factors (CVRF) and could be a marker predisposing to CVD. However, most studies studied only a small number of CVRF and no complete assessment of the associations between ELC and CVRF has been performed in a single study. METHODS: Population-based study (n = 4635, 46.7 % men) conducted between 2009 and 2012 in Lausanne, Switzerland. RESULTS: Eight hundred six participants (17.4 %) had an ELC. Presence of ELC was associated with male gender and older age. After adjusting for age and gender (and medication whenever necessary), presence of ELC was significantly (p < 0.05) associated with higher levels of body mass index (BMI) [adjusted mean ± standard error: 27.0 ± 0.2 vs. 26.02 ± 0.07 kg/m(2)], triglycerides [1.40 ± 0.03 vs. 1.36 ± 0.01 mmol/L] and insulin [8.8 ± 0.2 vs. 8.3 ± 0.1 μIU/mL]; lower levels of HDL cholesterol [1.61 ± 0.02 vs. 1.64 ± 0.01 mmol/L]; higher frequency of abdominal obesity [odds ratio and (95 % confidence interval) 1.20 (1.02; 1.42)]; hypertension [1.41 (1.18; 1.67)]; diabetes [1.43 (1.15; 1.79)]; high HOMA-IR [1.19 (1.00; 1.42)]; metabolic syndrome [1.28 (1.08; 1.51)] and history of CVD [1.55 (1.21; 1.98)]. No associations were found between ELC and estimated cardiovascular risk, inflammatory or liver markers. After further adjustment on BMI, only the associations between ELC and hypertension [1.30 (1.08; 1.56)] and history of CVD [1.47 (1.14; 1.89)] remained significant. For history of CVD, further adjustment on diabetes, hypertension, total cholesterol and smoking led to similar results [1.36 (1.05; 1.77)]. CONCLUSION: In this community-based sample ELC was significantly and independently associated with hypertension and history of CVD.

Conocer los factores asociados a la depresión infantil, para lo que se centra en la variable autoestima con un doble objetivo: comprobar si la autoestima puede ser considerada un factor de riesgo del síndrome depresivo y ampliar los conocimientos de la autoestima. 1070 escolares de ambos sexos con edades comprendidas entre 9 y 10 años, tanto de escuelas públicas como privadas, lo que supone un 10 por ciento de la población escolar malagueña de cuarto curso de EGB. Cuestionario de PNID, CDI, A-2, CABS, ELC, CBCL, ESDM, cuestionario de datos sociofamiliares, Children's Depression Rating Scale Revised, expedientes escolares de cada alumno. El sistema integrado de programas de computador para el análisis de datos de las Ciencias Sociales que incluye un análisis descriptivo y cruces de variables. Es evidente que la autoestima es un factor de riesgo del síndrome depresivo y por otra, el trabajo ha ido encaminado a un análisis y profundización de dicha variable, donde se ha comprobado qué variables influyen positiva o negativamente y, por tanto, hay que hacer hincapié, de cara a la prevención en aquellas variables que influyen negativamente en la autoestima ya que son factores de riesgo en la depresión.

L'objectiu d'aquest article és doble. D'una banda, s'exposen els problemes que planteja l’anàlisi que la morfologia generativa ha proposat per a la sufixació apreciativa, especialment per a noms i adjectius. D'altra banda, es defensa la unificació de dos tipus d'afixos apreciatius que les gramàtiques tradicionals han considerat diferents: els sufixos que s'adjunten a arrels nominals (diminutius, augmentatius i despectius) i els que s'adjunten a arrels adjectivals (anomenats intensius ). Aquest treball es centra, fonamentalment, en les dades del català i es demostra que hi ha raons per suposar que tots els sufixos apreciatius formen una única classe d'afixos. Si bé es discuteixen diversos aspectes problemàtics d'aquests derivats, només es presenta una proposta de solució al de la interpretació semàntica. Es defensa que les diferències en la interpretació semàntica dels derivats es poden deduir de l'estructura lexicoconceptual (ELC) de la base i de l'element d'aquesta ELC que sigui modificat per l'afix

En aquesta tesi doctoral es pretén estudiar les diferents polítiques de paisatge a Europa, centrant-se en l’estudi a fons del Conveni Europeu del Paisatge, únic instrument dedicat exclusivament al paisatge. Mitjançant l’anàlisi de tres casos d’estudi, Espanya, Alemanya i Eslovàquia, més l’estudi de respectives regions dels mateixos, s’explicaran les eines i instruments existents avui per protegir, gestionar i ordenar el paisatge, afegint, però, l’element social, indiscutiblement lligat a la manera de veure, pensar i viure el paisatge. Es respon així a la hipòtesis de si ens trobem davant un canvi de paradigma, davant una nova sensibilitat respecte del paisatge. Indirectament es responen a dues preguntes més: demostrar si després de 10 anys de funcionament del Conveni Europeu del Paisatge aquest es perfila com a instrument per excel•lència per protegir, gestionar i ordenar el paisatge a Europa i si és possible l’existència de polítiques de paisatge efectives al marge del Conveni Europeu del Paisatge.

We define a cohomological invariant E(G, S, M) where G is a group, S is a non empty family of (not necessarily distinct) subgroups of infinite index in G and M is a F2G-module (F2 is the field of two elements). In this paper we are interested in the special case where the family of subgroups consists of just one subgroup, and M is the F2G-module F2(G/S). The invariant E(G, {S}, F2(G/S)) will be denoted by E(G, S). We study the relations of this invariant with other ends e(G) , e(G, S) and e(G, S), and some results are obtained in the case where G and S have certain properties of duality.

Objetivo: Revisar os casos de enfisema lobar congênito (ELC) operados nos últimos 30 anos em dois hospitais universitários. Métodos: Foram revistos os prontuários médicos das crianças com ELC operadas no Hospital das Clínicas da Faculdade de Medicina de Botucatu e no Hospital da Universidade de Mogi das Cruzes entre 1979 e 2009. Dados sobre sintomas, exame físico, achados radiológicos, diagnóstico, tratamento cirúrgico e seguimento pós-operatório mediato e tardio foram analisados. Resultados: Durante o período estudado, 20 crianças com ELC foram submetidas a tratamento cirúrgico. A média de idade dos pacientes no momento da cirurgia foi 6,9 meses (variação, 9 dias a 4 anos). Todos os casos apresentaram sintomas ao nascimento ou nos primeiros meses de vida. Em todos os casos, a radiografia simples de tórax foi importante na definição do diagnóstico. Em casos de dificuldade respiratória moderada, a TC de tórax auxiliou no diagnóstico. Um paciente com desconforto respiratório grave foi diagnosticado erroneamente com pneumotórax hipertensivo e submetido a drenagem torácica. A broncoscopia só foi realizada nos pacientes com dificuldade respiratória moderada e não foram encontrados sinais de anomalias traqueobrônquicas. A abordagem cirúrgica foi realizada através de toracotomia lateral poupadora de músculo. O lobo superior esquerdo e o lobo médio foram os mais afetados, seguidos pelo lobo superior direito. A lobectomia foi realizada em 18 casos, enquanto a bilobectomia foi realizada em 2 casos (com ressecção de cisto broncogênico em 1 desses). Complicações pós-operatórias não foram observadas. O acompanhamento pós-operatório foi de pelo menos 24 meses (média, 60 meses) e não foram observadas complicações tardias nesta série. Conclusões: O ELC é uma doença pouco comum, ainda negligenciada, de etiologia incerta, mas de fácil diagnóstico radiológico e tratamento cirúrgico eficaz.

Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) are becoming increasingly important in embedded and high-performance computing systems. They allow performance levels close to the ones obtained with Application-Specific Integrated Circuits, while still keeping design and implementation flexibility. However, to efficiently program FPGAs, one needs the expertise of hardware developers in order to master hardware description languages (HDLs) such as VHDL or Verilog. Attempts to furnish a high-level compilation flow (e.g., from C programs) still have to address open issues before broader efficient results can be obtained. Bearing in mind an FPGA available resources, it has been developed LALP (Language for Aggressive Loop Pipelining), a novel language to program FPGA-based accelerators, and its compilation framework, including mapping capabilities. The main ideas behind LALP are to provide a higher abstraction level than HDLs, to exploit the intrinsic parallelism of hardware resources, and to allow the programmer to control execution stages whenever the compiler techniques are unable to generate efficient implementations. Those features are particularly useful to implement loop pipelining, a well regarded technique used to accelerate computations in several application domains. This paper describes LALP, and shows how it can be used to achieve high-performance computing solutions.

This work presents algorithms for the calculation of the electrostatic interaction in partially periodic systems. The framework for these algorithms is provided by the simulation package ESPResSo, of which the author was one of the main developers. The prominent features of the program are listed and the internal structure is described. In the following, algorithms for the calculation of the Coulomb sum in three dimensionally periodic systems are described. These methods are the foundations for the algorithms for partially periodic systems presented in this work. Starting from the MMM2D method for systems with one non-periodic coordinate, the ELC method for these systems is developed. This method consists of a correction term which allows to use methods for three dimensional periodicity also for the case of two periodic coordinates. The computation time of this correction term is neglible for large numbers of particles. The performance of MMM2D and ELC are demonstrated by results from the implementations contained in ESPResSo. It is also discussed, how different dielectric constants inside and outside of the simulation box can be realized. For systems with one periodic coordinate, the MMM1D method is derived from the MMM2D method. This method is applied to the problem of the attraction of like-charged rods in the presence of counterions, and results of the strong coupling theory for the equilibrium distance of the rods at infinite counterion-coupling are checked against results from computer simulations. The degree of agreement between the simulations at finite coupling and the theory can be characterized by a single parameter gamma_RB. In the special case of T=0, one finds under certain circumstances flat configurations, in which all charges are located in the rod-rod plane. The energetically optimal configuration and its stability are determined analytically, which depends on only one parameter gamma_z, similar to gamma_RB. These findings are in good agreement with results from computer simulations.

In the healthy individuum lymphocyte traffic into the central nervous system (CNS) is very low and tightly controlled by the highly specialized blood-brain barrier (BBB). In contrast, under inflammatory conditions of the CNS such as in multiple sclerosis or in its animal model experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) circulating lymphocytes and monocytes/macrophages readily cross the BBB and gain access to the CNS leading to edema, inflammation and demyelination. Interaction of circulating leukocytes with the endothelium of the blood-spinal cord and blood-brain barrier therefore is a critical step in the pathogenesis of inflammatory diseases of the CNS. Leukocyte/endothelial interactions are mediated by adhesion molecules and chemokines and their respective chemokine receptors. We have developed a novel spinal cord window preparation, which enables us to directly visualize CNS white matter microcirculation by intravital fluorescence videomicroscopy. Applying this technique of intravital fluorescence videomicroscopy we could provide direct in vivo evidence that encephalitogenic T cell blasts interact with the spinal cord white matter microvasculature without rolling and that alpha4-integrin mediates the G-protein independent capture and subsequently the G-protein dependent adhesion strengthening of T cell blasts to microvascular VCAM-1. LFA-1 was found to neither mediate the G-protein independent capture nor the G- protein dependent initial adhesion strengthening of encephalitogenic T cell blasts within spinal cord microvessel, but was rather involved in T cell extravasation across the vascular wall into the spinal cord parenchyme. Our observation that G-protein mediated signalling is required to promote adhesion strengthening of encephalitogenic T cells on BBB endothelium in vivo suggested the involvement of chemokines in this process. We found functional expression of the lymphoid chemokines CCL19/ELC and CCL21/SLC in CNS venules surrounded by inflammatory cells in brain and spinal cord sections of mice afflicted with EAE suggesting that the lymphoid chemokines CCL19 and CCL21 besides regulating lymphocyte homing to secondary lymphoid tissue might be involved in T lymphocyte migration into the immuneprivileged CNS during immunosurveillance and chronic inflammation. Here, I summarize our current knowledge on the sequence of traffic signals involved in T lymphocyte recruitment across the healthy and inflamed blood-brain and blood-spinal cord barrier based on our in vitro and in vivo investigations.

The specific Ca2+ binding site that triggers contraction of molluscan muscle requires the presence of an essential light chain (ELC) from a Ca2+ binding myosin. Of the four EF hand-like domains in molluscan ELCs, only domain III has an amino acid sequence predicted to be capable of binding Ca2+. In this report, we have used mutant ELCs to locate the Ca2+ binding site in scallop myosin and to probe the role of the ELC in regulation. Point mutations in domain III of scallop ELC have no effect on Ca2+ binding. Interestingly, scallop and rat cardiac ELC chimeras support Ca2+ binding only if domain I is scallop. These results are nevertheless in agreement with structural studies on a proteolytic fragment of scallop myosin, the regulatory domain. Furthermore, Ca2+ sensitivity of the scallop myosin ATPase requires scallop ELC domain I: ELCs containing cardiac domain I convert scallop myosin to an unregulated molecule whose activity is no longer repressed in the absence of Ca2+. Despite its unusual EF hand domain sequence, our data indicate that the unique and required contribution of molluscan ELCs to Ca2+ binding and regulation of molluscan myosins resides exclusively in domain I.
