Following orders, hierarchical obedience and military discipline are essential values for the survival of the armed forces. Without them, it is not possible to conceive the armed forces as an essential pillar of a democratic state of law and a guarantor of national independence. As issuing orders as well as receiving and following them are inextricably linked to military discipline, and as such injunctions entail the workings of a particular obedience regime within the specific kind of organized power framework which is the Armed Forces, only by analysing the importance of such orders within this microcosm – with its strict hierarchical structure – will it be possible to understand which criminal judicial qualification to ascribe to the individual at the rear by reference to the role of the front line individual (i.e. the one who issues an order vs the one who executes it). That is, of course, when we are faced with the practice of unlawful acts, keeping in mind the organizational framework and its influence over the will of the executor. One thing we take as read, if the orders can be described as unlawful, the boundary line of the duty of obedience, which cannot be overstepped, both because of a legal as well as a constitutional imperative, will have been crossed. And the military have sworn an oath of obedience to the fundamental law. The topic of hierarchical obedience cannot be separated from the analysis of current legislation which pertains to the topic within military institutions. With that in mind, it appeared relevant to address the major norms which regulate the matter within the Portuguese military legal system, and, whenever necessary and required by the reality under analysis, to relate that to civilian law or legal doctrine.

Sargentos de 1964: como a disciplina venceu a política

Há um consenso histórico de que houve sérios problemas disciplinares com as praças das Forças Armadas na década de 1960. Diversos historiadores e autoridades militares consideram a questão como uma das principais causas da tomada do poder pelo Exército Brasileiro. As análises, no entanto, não costumam levar em consideração aspectos particulares de cada Força. No Exército, em função do grande número de levantes ocorridos na década de 1930, foi adotada uma estrutura de doutrinação nos moldes do que Michel Foucault chama de “docilização dos corpos”. As transformações implementadas durante os anos 40 e 50 permitiram o atingimento de um elevado padrão disciplinar, que evitou que seus sargentos participassem mais ativamente daquele cenário político problemático. Este trabalho pretende demonstrar que a adoção dessa sistemática contribuiu significativamente para que os sargentos do Exército obedecessem a cadeia hierárquica, seguindo as determinações de seus chefes. Os sargentos foram, na verdade, muito mais colaboradores do que opositores do golpe de estado. A disciplina venceu a política.

This article examines the challenges involved in the process of police militarization and implementation of police discipline in the State of São Paulo during the First Brazilian Republic (1889 to 1930). Th e implementation of a militarized police model, initiated by the 1906 French Military Mission, was not fully able to deal with indiscipline issues among policemen. Beyond creating problems of its own, such as fostering a corporatist culture and strengthening rigid hierarchies, military discipline prevented police forces to address new issues that would aff ect its practices. Documents in the São Paulo State Public Archive provides a window to the daily violence, the personal compromises, the institutional confl icts and the political meddling that was part of police life in the State of São Paulo at the turn of the century.

Para la redacción de este libro se consultaron algunos documentos impresos, sobre obligaciones del Cuerpo de Infantería y por acuerdo del 11 de noviembre de 1892, estas Ordenanzas, debían ser similares a las españolas. Se cumplió y se tomo lo esencial, solamente variando la distribución de las materias, dando la forma de Codificaciones modernas y suprimiendo las locuciones y tratados del sistema monárquico. Además se consultaron las leyes emitidas desde la independencia, el Código Militar de 1875, las Ordenanzas del Ejército de 1883. Este libro está dividido en dos partes: al Servicio de Guarnición y al Servicio de Campaña. Consumo de oxigeno en prueba escalonada de las cadetes de la escuela militar de cadetes general Jose Maria Córdova, corte transversal

INTRODUCCION La incorporación de mujeres a las fuerzas armadas en el Ejercito Nacional de Colombia se inicio en 2008, para ser formadas como oficiales de arma por 3 años en la Escuela Militar de Cadetes General José María Córdova, por lo cual se convierte en una necesidad fundamental desarrollar evaluaciones fisiológicas que permitan determinar el nivel de trabajo físico que e deben desarrollar en sus diferentes actividades OBJETIVO Determinar la capacidad de trabajo físico máximo CTF máx. de las cadetes, que se encuentran en 2 años de formación, a partir de su potencia aeróbica máxima determinada mediante prueba escalonada.. MATERIALES Y METODOS Se realizó un estudio descriptivo de corte trasversal en una muestra de 46 cadetes femeninas de segundo año de formación, a quienes se les realizo la prueba escalonada descrita por el Doctor Rogelio Manero, para establecer su consumo máximo de oxigeno (VO2 máx.) y a partir de este obtener la capacidad de trabajo físico máximo. Para el análisis estadístico se utilizaron frecuencias, porcentajes y unidades de tendencia central con base en promedios y porcentajes. Se utilizo test de Fisher, T student para grupos independientes con una p<0,05 RESULTADOS La población estudiada fue 46 cadetes con un promedio de edad de 19 años, Se encontró un consumo de oxigeno promedio de 4,5 litros / minuto y una capacidad de trabajo físico máximo promedio de 22,49 ±4.53 kcal /min, además se encontró en las mujeres que realizan deporte adicional al entrenamiento básico presentaban una mejor capacidad de trabajo físico máxima con respecto a las que no lo realizaban. (p=0,02) DISCUSION Los resultados de este estudio muestran la asociación entre La actividad física deportiva adicional al entrenamiento básico y la capacidad de trabajo físico máximo, sin que se halla encontrado relación con el tipo de disciplina deportiva practicada.
