The fuel consumption is an important factor in the vehicle development due the fact that it has a direct effect on its trade aims. Besides that, it is known that the petrol is a scarce fuel. In this paper it is presented a procedure of fuel consumption calculation for a vehicle traveling in driving schedule. In such calculation it has been taken into account the operational conditions (load, pavement, climbing road, among others) and the building characteristics (map engine, transmission, frontal area, tire, among others) of road vehicles. There has also been an application of the theoretical model developed in a sample Mercedes-Benz do Brasil vehicle which has been compared with the values of experimental tests. El presente trabajo tiene por objetivo generar una metodología validada que permita predecir el consumo de vehículos turismo circulando en cualquier tramo de vía a partir del perfil orográfico y del diagrama velocidad-tiempo. Para la generación de la metodología, se ha realizado un modelo de simulación con el programa ADVISOR que permite calcular el consumo de combustible para un determinado recorrido en el que se tiene en cuenta el perfil orográfico. Este modelo fue validado con datos reales medidos con equipos on-board y se usó para calcular el consumo de combustible diferencial debido al efecto de la pendiente de la vía, al poderse simular con y sin pendiente. Se realizaron múltiples simulaciones de recorridos con velocidad máxima variable con el fin de obtener un número significativo de datos. Con los resultados de las diferentes simulaciones, se realizó un estudio estadístico, para determinar las variables influyentes y se generó una función estadística (Ecuación de Consumo Estimado – ECE) que permite calcular el consumo de combustible debido a la pendiente de la vía, conociendo el consumo del vehículo en carretera llana (sin pendiente). Esta función estadística generada (ECE), se validó con datos reales medidos en tráfico real. Con el fin de darle generalidad y aplicabilidad a la función generada, y teniendo en cuenta que el consumo de combustible en carretera llana no está siempre disponible, se ha calculado el consumo de combustible sin pendiente utilizando la metodología Copert 4, metodología oficial desarrollada por la Agencia de Medio Ambiente de Europa (EEA) para la estimación de emisiones y consumo de combustible que está basada en datos experimentales pero que no tiene en cuenta la pendiente de la vía. La Ecuación de Consumo Estimado (ECE) aplicada a los consumos calculados por la metodología Copert 4, se valida también usando datos reales medidos en tráfico real y se comprueba que esta función se ajusta considerablemente bien a la realidad, con un error en el consumo acumulado frente al del ensayo real de un 1% y una correlación con el consumo instantáneo del ensayo real de 0,93. Se concluye, que la Función de Consumo Estimado (ECE), permite predecir el efecto de la pendiente sobre el consumo de combustible de un vehículo turismo en tráfico real con un error menor del 1%. Abstract This projects aims to develop a validated methodology that enables to predict cars consumption while circulating at any kind of road section based on its orographic outline and the speed-time diagram. In order to develop this methodology, a simulation model has been performed with the programme ADVISOR, that allows fuel consumption calculation for an specific route in which the orographic outline is considered. This model was validated by real data measured with an on-board equipment and it was used to calculate the differential fuel consumption caused by the effect of the slope on the road, as it was possible to simulate with or without slope. Many simulations were run with routes with variable maximum speed, aiming to obtain a significant amount of data. An statistical study was carried out with the results of those simulations with the purpose to determine the influential variables and an statistical function ( Estimated Consumption Equation – ECE) that enables fuel consumption calculation due to the road’s slope when the consumption of a vehicle on horizontal road (without any slope) is known. This statistical function (ECE) was validated by real data measured in real traffic conditions. With the purpose to generalise the function and increase its applicability, considering that the consumption of a vehicle on horizontal road is not always available, the nonslope fuel consumption has been calculated through Copert 4 methodology, which is the official methodology developed by the European Environmental Agency (EEA) for emissions and fuel consumption calculation based on experimental data, but without taking into consideration the road’s slope. The Estimated Consumption Equation (ECE) applied to the consumption calculated through Copert 4 methodology is also validated using real data measured in real traffic conditions. It was verified that this function considerably adjusts to reality, with an error on the accumulated consumption compared to the real test of 1% and a correlation with the real test immediate fuel consumption of 0,93. It is concluded that the Estimated Consumption Equation (ECE) enables to predict the effect of the slope on the fuel consumption of a car in real traffic conditions with an error less than 1%.

This thesis analyses the calculation of FanSave and PumpSave energy saving tools calculation. With these programs energy consumption of variable speed drive control for fans and pumps can be compared to other control methods. With FanSave centrifugal and axial fans can be examined and PumpSave deals with centrifugal pumps. By means of these programs also suitable frequency converter can be chosen from the ABB collection. Programs need as initial values information about the appliances like amount of flow and efficiencies. Operation time is important factor when calculating the annual energy consumption and information about it are the length and profile. Basic theory related to fans and pumps is introduced without more precise instructions for dimensioning. FanSave and PumpSave contain various methods for flow control. These control methods are introduced in the thesis based on their operational principles and suitability. Also squirrel cage motor and frequency converter are introduced because of their close involvement to fans and pumps. Second part of the thesis contains comparison between results of FanSave’s and PumpSave’s calculation and performance curve based calculation. Also laboratory tests were made with centrifugal and axial fan and also with centrifugal pump. With the results from this thesis the calculation of these programs can be adjusted to be more accurate and also some new features can be added.

The purpose of this thesis was to define how product carbon footprint analysis and its results can be used in company's internal development as well as in customer and interest group guidance, and how these factors are related to corporate social responsibility. From-cradle-to-gate carbon footprint was calculated for three products; Torino Whole grain barley, Torino Pearl barley, and Elovena Barley grit & oat bran, all of them made of Finnish barley. The carbon footprint of the Elovena product was used to determine carbon footprints for industrial kitchen cooked porridge portions. The basic calculation data was collected from several sources. Most of the data originated from Raisio Group's contractual farmers and Raisio Group's cultivation, processing and packaging specialists. Data from national and European literature and database sources was also used. The electricity consumption for porridge portions' carbon footprint calculations was determined with practical measurements. The carbon footprint calculations were conducted according to the ISO 14044 standard, and the PAS 2050 guide was also applied. A consequential functional unit was applied in porridge portions' carbon footprint calculations. Most of the emissions from barley products' life cycle originate from primary production. The nitrous oxide emissions from cultivated soil and the use and production of nitrogenous fertilisers contribute over 50% of products' carbon footprint. Torino Pearl barley has the highest carbon footprint due to the lowest processing output. The reductions in products' carbon footprint can be achieved with developments in cultivation and grain processing. The carbon footprint of porridge portion can be reduced by using domestically produced plant-based ingredients and by making the best possible use of the kettle. Carbon footprint calculation can be used to determine possible improvement points related to corporate environmental responsibility. Several improvement actions are related to economical and social responsibility through better raw material utilization and expense reductions.

It is presented a software developed with Delphi programming language to compute the reservoir's annual regulated active storage, based on the sequent-peak algorithm. Mathematical models used for that purpose generally require extended hydrological series. Usually, the analysis of those series is performed with spreadsheets or graphical representations. Based on that, it was developed a software for calculation of reservoir active capacity. An example calculation is shown by 30-years (from 1977 to 2009) monthly mean flow historical data, from Corrente River, located at São Francisco River Basin, Brazil. As an additional tool, an interface was developed to manage water resources, helping to manipulate data and to point out information that it would be of interest to the user. Moreover, with that interface irrigation districts where water consumption is higher can be analyzed as a function of specific seasonal water demands situations. From a practical application, it is possible to conclude that the program provides the calculation originally proposed. It was designed to keep information organized and retrievable at any time, and to show simulation on seasonal water demands throughout the year, contributing with the elements of study concerning reservoir projects. This program, with its functionality, is an important tool for decision making in the water resources management.

[EN]Isocitrate Dehydrogenase (IDH) is a key enzyme in the Krebs cycle, being responsible for the production of one of the three CO2 molecules related to cellular respiration. In order to measure the potential CO2 production linked to the marine planktonic community we have adapted an enzymatic methodology. Preliminary results show that different proportions of autotrophs, heterotrophs and mixotrophs and their metabolic pathways, lead to different relationships between potential CO2 emission and potential O2 consumption during cellular respiration. Although more experiments need to be made, this methodology is leading to a better understanding of cellular respiration in marine samples and their impact on the food chain, vertical Carbon flux and the current sequestering capacity for anthropogenic CO2.

In vielen Industriezweigen, zum Beispiel in der Automobilindustrie, werden Digitale Versuchsmodelle (Digital MockUps) eingesetzt, um die Konstruktion und die Funktion eines Produkts am virtuellen Prototypen zu überprüfen. Ein Anwendungsfall ist dabei die Überprüfung von Sicherheitsabständen einzelner Bauteile, die sogenannte Abstandsanalyse. Ingenieure ermitteln dabei für bestimmte Bauteile, ob diese in ihrer Ruhelage sowie während einer Bewegung einen vorgegeben Sicherheitsabstand zu den umgebenden Bauteilen einhalten. Unterschreiten Bauteile den Sicherheitsabstand, so muss deren Form oder Lage verändert werden. Dazu ist es wichtig, die Bereiche der Bauteile, welche den Sicherhabstand verletzen, genau zu kennen. rnrnIn dieser Arbeit präsentieren wir eine Lösung zur Echtzeitberechnung aller den Sicherheitsabstand unterschreitenden Bereiche zwischen zwei geometrischen Objekten. Die Objekte sind dabei jeweils als Menge von Primitiven (z.B. Dreiecken) gegeben. Für jeden Zeitpunkt, in dem eine Transformation auf eines der Objekte angewendet wird, berechnen wir die Menge aller den Sicherheitsabstand unterschreitenden Primitive und bezeichnen diese als die Menge aller toleranzverletzenden Primitive. Wir präsentieren in dieser Arbeit eine ganzheitliche Lösung, welche sich in die folgenden drei großen Themengebiete unterteilen lässt.rnrnIm ersten Teil dieser Arbeit untersuchen wir Algorithmen, die für zwei Dreiecke überprüfen, ob diese toleranzverletzend sind. Hierfür präsentieren wir verschiedene Ansätze für Dreiecks-Dreiecks Toleranztests und zeigen, dass spezielle Toleranztests deutlich performanter sind als bisher verwendete Abstandsberechnungen. Im Fokus unserer Arbeit steht dabei die Entwicklung eines neuartigen Toleranztests, welcher im Dualraum arbeitet. In all unseren Benchmarks zur Berechnung aller toleranzverletzenden Primitive beweist sich unser Ansatz im dualen Raum immer als der Performanteste.rnrnDer zweite Teil dieser Arbeit befasst sich mit Datenstrukturen und Algorithmen zur Echtzeitberechnung aller toleranzverletzenden Primitive zwischen zwei geometrischen Objekten. Wir entwickeln eine kombinierte Datenstruktur, die sich aus einer flachen hierarchischen Datenstruktur und mehreren Uniform Grids zusammensetzt. Um effiziente Laufzeiten zu gewährleisten ist es vor allem wichtig, den geforderten Sicherheitsabstand sinnvoll im Design der Datenstrukturen und der Anfragealgorithmen zu beachten. Wir präsentieren hierzu Lösungen, die die Menge der zu testenden Paare von Primitiven schnell bestimmen. Darüber hinaus entwickeln wir Strategien, wie Primitive als toleranzverletzend erkannt werden können, ohne einen aufwändigen Primitiv-Primitiv Toleranztest zu berechnen. In unseren Benchmarks zeigen wir, dass wir mit unseren Lösungen in der Lage sind, in Echtzeit alle toleranzverletzenden Primitive zwischen zwei komplexen geometrischen Objekten, bestehend aus jeweils vielen hunderttausend Primitiven, zu berechnen. rnrnIm dritten Teil präsentieren wir eine neuartige, speicheroptimierte Datenstruktur zur Verwaltung der Zellinhalte der zuvor verwendeten Uniform Grids. Wir bezeichnen diese Datenstruktur als Shrubs. Bisherige Ansätze zur Speicheroptimierung von Uniform Grids beziehen sich vor allem auf Hashing Methoden. Diese reduzieren aber nicht den Speicherverbrauch der Zellinhalte. In unserem Anwendungsfall haben benachbarte Zellen oft ähnliche Inhalte. Unser Ansatz ist in der Lage, den Speicherbedarf der Zellinhalte eines Uniform Grids, basierend auf den redundanten Zellinhalten, verlustlos auf ein fünftel der bisherigen Größe zu komprimieren und zur Laufzeit zu dekomprimieren.rnrnAbschießend zeigen wir, wie unsere Lösung zur Berechnung aller toleranzverletzenden Primitive Anwendung in der Praxis finden kann. Neben der reinen Abstandsanalyse zeigen wir Anwendungen für verschiedene Problemstellungen der Pfadplanung.

Total sediment oxygen consumption rates (TSOC or Jtot), measured during sediment-water incubations, and sediment oxygen microdistributions were studied at 16 stations in the Arctic Ocean (Svalbard area). The oxygen consumption rates ranged between 1.85 and 11.2 mmol m**-2 d**-1, and oxygen penetrated from 5.0 to >59 mm into the investigated sediments. Measured TSOC exceeded the calculated diffusive oxygen fluxes (Jdiff) by 1.1-4.8 times. Diffusive fluxes across the sediment-water interface were calculated using the whole measured microprofiles, rather than the linear oxygen gradient in the top sediment layer. The lack of a significant correlation between found abundances of bioirrigating meiofauna and high Jtot/Jdiff ratios as well as minor discrepancies in measured TSOC between replicate sediment cores, suggest molecular diffusion, not bioirrigation, to be the most important transport mechanism for oxygen across the sediment-water interface and within these sediments. The high ratios of Jtot/Jdiff obtained for some stations were therefore suggested to be caused by topographic factors, i.e. underestimation of the actual sediment surface area when one-dimensional diffusive fluxes were calculated, or sampling artifacts during core recovery from great water depths. Measured TSOC correlated to water depth raised to the -0.4 to -0.5 power (TSOC = water depth**-0.4 to -0.5) for all investigated stations, but they could be divided into two groups representing different geographical areas with different sediment oxygen consumption characteristics. The differences in TSOC between the two areas were suggested to reflect hydrographic factors (such as ice coverage and import/production of reactive particulate organic material) related to the dominating water mass (Atlantic or polar) in each of the two areas. The good correlation between TSOC and water depth**-0.4 to -0.5 rules out any of the stations investigated to be topographic depressions with pronounced enhanced sediment oxygen consumption.

This article shows the social importance of subsistence minimum in Georgia. The methodology of its calculation is also shown. We propose ways of improving the calculation of subsistence minimum in Georgia and how to extend it for other developing countries. The weights of food and non-food expenditures in the subsistence minimum baskets are essential in these calculations. Daily consumption value of the minimum food basket has been calculated too. The average consumer expenditures on food supply and the other expenditures to the share are considered in dynamics. Our methodology of the subsistence minimum calculation is applied for the case of Georgia. However, it can be used for similar purposes based on data from other developing countries, where social stability is achieved, and social inequalities are to be actualized. The Leontief input-output model is widely used to determine the ecological footprint of consumption in a region or a country. It is able to capture spillover environmental effects along the supply change, thus its popularity is increasing in ecology related economic research. These studies are static and the dynamic investigations are neglected. The dynamic Leontief model makes it possible to involve the capital and inventory investment in the footprint calculation that projects future growth of GDP and environmental impacts. We show a new calculation method to determine the effect of capital accumulation on ecological footprint. Savings and investments in the American money market by emerging countries, primarily China, financed the excessive consumption of the United States in the early 2000s, which indirectly led to a global financial crisis. The crisis started from the real estate mortgage market. Such balance disrupting processes began on the American financial market which contradicted all previously known equilibrium theories of every school of economics. Economics has yet to come up with models or empirical theories for this new disequilibrium. This is why the outbreak of the crisis could not be prevented or at least predicted. The question is, to what extent can existing market theories, calculation methods and the latest financial products be held responsible for the new situation. This paper studies the influence of the efficient market and modern portfolio theory, as well as Li’s copula function on the American investment market. Naturally, the issues of moral risks and greed, credit ratings and shareholder control, limited liability and market regulations are aspects, which cannot be ignored. In summary, the author outlines the potential alternative measures that could be applied to prevent a new crisis, defines the new directions of economic research and draws the conclusion for the Hungarian economic policy.
