As possibilidades do ser entre o poder e a morte: uma caminhada pelos limites existenciais

Através dessa dissertação propõe-se uma análise sobre os temas morte e poder em dois romances, do autor português José Saramago, Todos os Nomes (1997) e As Intermitências da Morte (2004). Escritos e publicados em épocas distintas, distinguem-se do conjunto da obra desse autor pela relação que estabelecem entre si e os temas supracitados. Esses dois romances foram tomados como objeto de estudo desta pesquisa, que foi executada através da utilização da metodologia da literatura comparada. Como base teórica, foram usados os seguintes conceitos do filósofo Martin Heidegger: ser-para-morte e angústia, que norteiam o pensamento sobre as possibilidades de uma autenticidade do ser frente ao cotidiano, marcado por repetições e controles. É através do acaso e das escolhas feitas pelos dois protagonistas dessas obras que se construiu uma reflexão sobre a dicotomia vivos e mortos. A partir dessa análise, buscou-se realizar a leitura em espelho desses romances, nos quais a maior semelhança é entender a vida como uma busca e a morte como inerente ao ser, tornando-o uma singularidade

Tatuagem da palavra : educação sentimental do corpo no corpus poético de Maria Teresa Horta

While looking to the body and finding it engraved by cultural, imaginary and power-related texts through a discourse embodied in itself, this research proposes a new vertiginous approach to it by analyzing the following works: Poesia completa II, more specifically, Educação sentimental, and Novas cartas portuguesas. Such transgressive and performatic works are from Maria Teresa Horta (1937-), Portuguese writer, who proposes a new education by a renewed language: a sentimental education spawned from the erotic element. Starting from the deconstruction of the view over the spoiled body and exposed in Novas cartas portuguesas, from the poetic texts in Educação sentimental, as well as in remaining ones in Poesia completa II, Horta disassembles and reassembles the body, giving a new meaning to the symbols that surround us and our experiences. Other than proposing to all, men and women, such new meaning of the behavior and current practices models, Horta s education allows, through a performance action, the construction of a stage for female identity, free from the phallic influence. A new identity, able to handle all holy and profane characteristics of women, discarding the chromatic lens of sin. Horta s poetry emerges as a new proposal of literary labor

Edgar Allan Poe, Machado de Assis e Julio Cortázar: três visões do conto em conjunção

Based on the essay Kafka y sus precursores, by Jorge Luis Borges (1899-1986), the present essay looks for coinciding views from Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849), Machado de Assis (1839-1908), and Julio Cortázar (1914-1984) on thatliterary genre. A possible connection between the three writers, regarded asmasters of the short story, is suggested having the Borgean essay as a startingpoint, while emphasizing the similarities of their views on what guides theartistic elaboration of the short stories. The confirmed relationship between Poeand Machado de Assis, and between Poe and Cortázar are emphasized, openinga door to the possibility of also thinking of a close relationship between Machadode Assis and Cortázar.Keywords:Short story; Compared Literature, Edgar Allan Poe, Jorge Luis Borges, JulioCortázar.

Poe, Baudelaire, Huysmans: dândis e malditos

Poe, Baudelaire and Huysmans, voices that bewilder readers due to their literary iconoclastic impulse, knew how to bother society and tradition becoming archetypes of the poèt maudit. Eccentrics, these poets, living exiled to the margins of the frustrated bourgeois society with its moral rules, wish for something beyond world then was offering; so, they turn for the mysterious regions of the obscure, of the sordidness and of the Satanic, finally becoming the poets of the abyss. At the same time maudits and aesthetes, they wish to be sublime and consider the dandyism like the last ray of light of the decadence: it is what this article intends to discuss.

Poetiche della traduzione: le esperienze di Ungaretti-Jaccottet e Char-Sereni

La traduzione poetica viene affrontata sul piano empirico dell'analisi testuale. Una breve introduzione presenta le riflessioni più importanti sulla traduzione del testo poetico, da Benjamin e Steiner fino alle teorie più recenti di Meschonnic, Apel, Berman e Mattioli. Alla luce di queste teorie vengono analizzate le opere di due coppie di poeti e poeti-traduttori. Nel primo esempio troviamo il poeta svizzero (francofono) Philippe Jaccottet alle prese con l'intera opera di Ungaretti; nel secondo il rapporto travagliato di Vittorio Sereni con la poesia di René Char. Oltre a indagare la natura problematica della traduzione poetica come pratica e come esperienza, questa tesi di Letteratura Comparata vuole presentare la traduzione come strumento ermeneutico e come meccanismo rienunciativo: il suo ruolo nella dialettica delle influenze e dell'evoluzione letteraria è da considerarsi infatti essenziale. La vocazione originariamente etica della traduzione è sfondo costante della trattazione.

Identidade nacional e memória colectiva em Portugal e na Alemanha: Um estudo comparativo de manuais de terceira classe

Este estudo propõe-se fazer uma análise comparativa de dois manuais de leitura do ensino primário, um em Língua Portuguesa e o outro em Língua Alemã. A pesquisa aponta afinidades e temas comuns na forma como em ambos os livros são abordados elementos representativos da identidade nacional e da memória colectiva. O nosso trabalho procura evidenciar, através dos manuais analisados e de uma fundamentação teórica, a manipulação destes conceitos durante o período do Estado Novo e do Terceiro Reich, época a que se reportam os manuais escolares. A nossa dissertação de mestrado insere-se no âmbito da Literatura Comparada, apoiando-se no que diz respeito à sua fundamentação teórica em estudos e autores trabalhados no contexto das disciplinas de Literatura e Cultura de Massas e de Literatura Infanta-Juvenil, investigações essenciais para estabelecer uma análise comparativa entre os dois manuais de leitura do ensino básico. ABSTRACT: This study aims at a comparative analysis of two primary textbooks, one in Portuguese and the other in German language. The research points out common topics, affinities as well as a similar approach to representative elements of the National Identity and the Collective Memory in Portugal and in Germany. Based on the analysis of the schoolbooks mentioned and supported by a theoretical ground basis, our work tries to show the manipulation of these concepts during the years of the Estado Novo and the Third Reich, the period of time in which both schoolbooks were published and taught. Our dissertation applies to the study field of Compared Literature, having its theoretical ground basis on studies and authors referred to in the scope of the disciplines of Literature and Culture of the Masses as well as Children’s and Youth Literature which provided us essential knowledge for a comparative analysis of these two primary schoolbooks.

High-dose intravenous corticosteroid pulse therapy in alopecia areata: own experience compared with the literature

BACKGROUND: Seven prospective studies including 193 patients have been published on high-dose intravenous corticosteroid pulse therapy in alopecia areata (AA).We compare these data with a retrospective analysis of our own consecutive patients. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Between 1998 and 2002,25 patients with severe AA were treated at the Department of Dermatology, University of Bern, with infusions of 500 mg methylprednisolone on 3 consecutive days.In addition to the inpatient records, in 2004 all patients were followed up by a questionnaire. RESULTS: Four of 10 patients with multifocal AA and 3 of 9 patients with ophiasis-type AA had full re-growth of hair, whereas all 6 patients with AA totalis/universalis failed to respond. CONCLUSION: Intravenous corticosteroid pulse therapy may be helpful in the treatment of multifocal and ophiasis-type AA. Patients with an initial episode of short duration have better chances for success.

Decision Matrix Compared with Partnering Principles

The ideas for this CRC research project are based directly on Sidwell, Kennedy and Chan (2002). That research examined a number of case studies to identify the characteristics of successful projects. The findings were used to construct a matrix of best practice project delivery strategies. The purpose of this literature review is to test the decision matrix against established theory and best practice in the subject of construction project management.
