Le Pape Benoit XVI et l’Islam, entre dialogue et rivalités

Le Catholicisme et l’Islam, les deux plus grandes religions du monde numériquement, connaissent des rapports oscillants entre dialogue et rivalités. Ces deux derniers se manifestent à travers une variété d’actions, nationales et internationales, ainsi que par des écrits et des déclarations. Du côté catholique, ce dynamisme est promu en particulier par la pensée du Pape Benoit XVI à l’égard du dialogue avec la religion musulmane, qui est centrée sur le respect des libertés religieuses loin de la violence, ainsi que la préservation de l’identité. Du côté musulman, il existe plusieurs acteurs soucieux de présenter une image paisible de leur religion. Leurs efforts prennent différentes formes de dialogue, dont certaines s’opèrent dans un contexte étatique où le politique prime sur le religieux, à l’image des démarches des royaumes saoudien et jordanien. À ces activités de nature plus étatique, s’ajoutent des activités académiques et théologiques d’intellectuels et de religieux musulmans, tels que le professeur sunnite tunisien Mohammed Talbi et l’Imam chiite libanais Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah. Ils soulèvent les mêmes craintes identitaires et prônent les mêmes revendications de liberté et de dialogue que le Pape Benoit XVI, à partir de leurs perspectives musulmanes. L’entente cordiale entre l’Islam et le Catholicisme est donc mêlée à des controverses et des points conflictuels qui soumettent le dialogue à des enjeux religieux, historiques et politiques propres au contexte de ses tenants. À travers toute cette subtilité et ces complications, le dialogue reste toujours un objectifde chacun des protagonistes.

Análisis de los desafíos de Benedicto XVI en materia de diplomacia pontificia durante su papado 2005-2013

El interés de este estudio de caso es realizar un análisis de los desafíos más relevantes que tuvo que enfrentar el Papa Benedicto XVI durante su pontificado. Con la llegada del Joseph Ratzinger al Vaticano se genera un cambio en la percepción de la comunidad internacional hacia la sede pontificia y esa percepción va obteniendo otros matices a medida que se va desarrollando el pontificado, con la respuesta de Benedicto XVI hacia los desafíos que va enfrentando como el diálogo interreligioso, que previamente había venido trabajando su antecesor Juan Pablo II y el tema de la pedofilia, el cual se encargó de destapar luego de haber sido por años un tabú inconcebible de destapar para la iglesia católica.

Reinterpretando o Concílio Vaticano II: Impactos da Hermenêutica da Continuidade na música litúrgica católica do presente

In this paper, we asked whether a new interpretation given by Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger - Benedict XVI - to Vatican Council II, the Hermeneutics of Continuity can have an impact or have impacted yet the musical practice of the Roman Catholic liturgy. According to the Hermeneutics of Continuity, the council shall not constitute a break with previous liturgical practices, but a continuation of an organic movement. The analyses of data obtained from the literature and documentary procedures presented here were based on social autopoietic systems theory by Niklas Luhmann and on the concept of invented tradition by Eric Hobsbawm. We conclude that the Hermeneutics of Continuity has proved to be more a reform of the reform than the reconciliation between two musical and liturgical practices.

Soft Power del Vaticano en el reconocimiento de Palestina como Estado

Desde 1945, el inicio de la cuestión palestina, el país ha sufrido una serie de transformaciones e intervenciones en su soberanía y en legitimidad, las cuales siguen en discusión actualmente; y han dado como resultado el estudio del reconocimiento de Palestina como Estado. Es pertinente hacer un acercamiento a este tema desde la variable religiosa (Vaticano), teniendo en cuenta el gran número de lugares sagrados que hay en la región de Palestina y la variable religiosa del conflicto Palestino-israelí. Desde la mirada del Soft Power, concepto que ha venido tomando fuerza en la academia desde 1980, podemos acercarnos al objeto de estudio y dilucidar las injerencias de este actor. Mediante una aproximación cualitativa, que conlleva análisis del discurso, análisis histórico y análisis de política exterior, se logrará obtener el resultado esperado, que es entender de qué manera el Vaticano ejerce influencia (ideológica y cultural) en el Sistema Internacional, en el asunto del reconocimiento de Palestina como Estado.

Transiting exoplanets from the CoRoT space mission XVI. CoRoT-14b: an unusually dense very hot Jupiter

In this paper, the CoRoT Exoplanet Science Team announces its 14th discovery. Herein, we discuss the observations and analyses that allowed us to derive the parameters of this system: a hot Jupiter with a mass of 7.6 +/- 0.6 Jupiter masses orbiting a solar-type star (F9V) with a period of only 1.5 d, less than 5 stellar radii from its parent star. It is unusual for such a massive planet to have such a small orbit: only one other known higher mass exoplanet orbits with a shorter period.

Spermatophore and Gonopore Morphology of the Southwestern-Atlantic Hermit Crab Pagurus exilis (Benedict, 1892) (Anomura, Paguridae)

The form and function of the spermatophore have been used as a complementary tool in studies of the reproductive biology and systematics of hermit crabs. In this context, we describe the spermatophore and gonopore morphology of Pagurus exilis. The spermatophores were extracted from the distal part of the vas deferens of specimens collected in Argentina and Brazil. The spermatophores were composed of 3 major regions: a main ampulla (with a sperm capsule inside and an accessory ampulla at the base), a stalk, and a pedestal. Each spermatophore had a distinct dorsolateral suture line around the ampulla, where the rupture occurs to release the sperm. The spermatophore total length was 1.5 times the main ampulla length. The main ampulla was oval and slightly flattened. A triangular accessory ampulla extended from the main ampulla base to the pedestal on 1 side, and contained no to several sperm. The stalk is short and flattened, and as wide as the main ampulla. One to 3 spermatophores were found attached to each pedestal, which was almost oblong in shape. The dimensions of the spermatophore and its component parts were directly influenced by the size of the hermit crab. Gonopores of males were covered by long pappose setae, while female gonopores bore a few short cuspidate setae. Specimens from Brazil and Argentina had the same spermatophore morphology, corroborating the previously observed absence of genetic differences between the both populations. Harris-Benedict equation for critically ill patients: Are there differences with indirect calorimetry?

Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare the measured energy expenditure (EE) and the estimated basal EE (BEE) in critically ill patients. Materials and Methods: Seventeen patients from an intensive care unit were randomly evaluated. Indirect calorimetry was performed to calculate patient`s EE, and BEE was estimated by the Harris-Benedict formula. The metabolic state (EE/BEE x 100) was determined according to the following criteria: hypermetabolism, more than 130%; normal metabolism, between 90% and 130%; and hypometabolism, less than 90%. To determine the limits of agreement between EE and BEE, we performed a Bland-Altman analysis. Results: The average EE of patients was 6339 +/- 1119 kJ/d. Two patients were hypermetabolic (11.8%), 4 were hypometabolic (23.5%), and 11 normometabolic (64.7%). Bland-Altman analysis showed a mean of -126 +/- 2135 kJ/d for EE and BEE. Only one patient was outside the limits of agreement between the 2 methods (indirect calorimetry and Harris-Benedict). Conclusions: The calculation of energy needs can be done with the equation of Harris-Benedict associated with lower values of correction factors (approximately 10%) to avoid overfeeding, with constant monitoring of anthropometric and biochemical parameters to assess the nutritional changing and adjust the infusion of energy.
