The movement of chemicals through the soil to the groundwater or discharged to surface waters represents a degradation of these resources. In many cases, serious human and stock health implications are associated with this form of pollution. The chemicals of interest include nutrients, pesticides, salts, and industrial wastes. Recent studies have shown that current models and methods do not adequately describe the leaching of nutrients through soil, often underestimating the risk of groundwater contamination by surface-applied chemicals, and overestimating the concentration of resident solutes. This inaccuracy results primarily from ignoring soil structure and nonequilibrium between soil constituents, water, and solutes. A multiple sample percolation system (MSPS), consisting of 25 individual collection wells, was constructed to study the effects of localized soil heterogeneities on the transport of nutrients (NO3-, Cl-, PO43-) in the vadose zone of an agricultural soil predominantly dominated by clay. Very significant variations in drainage patterns across a small spatial scale were observed tone-way ANOVA, p < 0.001) indicating considerable heterogeneity in water flow patterns and nutrient leaching. Using data collected from the multiple sample percolation experiments, this paper compares the performance of two mathematical models for predicting solute transport, the advective-dispersion model with a reaction term (ADR), and a two-region preferential flow model (TRM) suitable for modelling nonequilibrium transport. PURPOSE: Pharmacovigilance methods have advanced greatly during the last decades, making post-market drug assessment an essential drug evaluation component. These methods mainly rely on the use of spontaneous reporting systems and health information databases to collect expertise from huge amounts of real-world reports. The EU-ADR Web Platform was built to further facilitate accessing, monitoring and exploring these data, enabling an in-depth analysis of adverse drug reactions risks.METHODS: The EU-ADR Web Platform exploits the wealth of data collected within a large-scale European initiative, the EU-ADR project. Millions of electronic health records, provided by national health agencies, are mined for specific drug events, which are correlated with literature, protein and pathway data, resulting in a rich drug-event dataset. Next, advanced distributed computing methods are tailored to coordinate the execution of data-mining and statistical analysis tasks. This permits obtaining a ranked drug-event list, removing spurious entries and highlighting relationships with high risk potential.RESULTS: The EU-ADR Web Platform is an open workspace for the integrated analysis of pharmacovigilance datasets. Using this software, researchers can access a variety of tools provided by distinct partners in a single centralized environment. Besides performing standalone drug-event assessments, they can also control the pipeline for an improved batch analysis of custom datasets. Drug-event pairs can be substantiated and statistically analysed within the platform's innovative working environment.CONCLUSIONS: A pioneering workspace that helps in explaining the biological path of adverse drug reactions was developed within the EU-ADR project consortium. El present treball té com a objectiu l’anàlisi i la conceptualització dels diferents tipus de conflictes empresarials i dels diferents mètodes existents a l’ordenament jurídic per a resoldrel’s. A continuació, s’estudien els Mètodes Alternatius de Resolució de Conflictes (MASC), també coneguts en els països anglosaxons com a Alternative Dispute Resolutions (ADR), com a procediments alterns a la justícia ordinària per a resoldre conflictes i controvèrsies en seu empresarial, aprofundint en les tècniques de la negociació i de la mediació empresarials, i realitzant un estudi especial de la conflictologia empresarial més freqüent susceptible de ser resolta mitjantçant la mediació. Per últim, s’estudien els conflictes societaris, especialment en les societats de capital, així com els mecanismes admesos en Dret per a prevenir-los i evitar-los, amb la finalitat de facilitar una gestió adient del conflicte i simplificar-ne la seva solució. Tenint en compte la rellevància que l’empresa familiar té en la nostra economia, es realitza una anàlisi exahustiva de les seves principals característiques, i del protocol familiar com a instrument idoni per a ajudar a millorar el funcionament de l’empresa familiar i a reduïr-ne el potencial de conflicte.

A formação de ecótipos em Cabralea canjerana subsp. polytricha foi estudada em áreas de cerrado e vereda de uma reserva ecológica no município de Uberlândia, MG, utilizando modelos de genética quantitativa para medida de plasticidade fenotípica. Os ecótipos foram caracterizados quanto à altura dos indivíduos, peso de frutos e sementes, número de sementes viáveis por fruto e sincronização no período de floração. Existe grande variabilidade genética para caracteres importantes na determinação do valor adaptativo da subspécie. Os genótipos respondem fenotipicamente à heterogeneidade ambiental, provocada pelo gradiente cerrado/vereda, em dois dos três caracteres observados. As respostas plásticas foram distintas entre os genótipos, quanto à direção e intensidade. Assincronia temporal de floração e o modo de ação de dispersores de sementes podem contribuir para a evolução da divergência entre ecótipos na área estudada.

Foram descritos e ilustrados aspectos morfo-anatômicos das sementes de Dictyoloma vandellianum Adr. Juss., visando o conhecimento dos tegumentos, endosperma e embrião. As sementes são reniformes, aladas, acobreadas, mesotestais, exariladas e albuminosas (reserva protéica). O embrião é axial, curvo, dominante, com cotilédones carnosos de reserva protéica, eixo hipocótilo-radícula longo e plúmula reduzida.

Detta examensarbete går ut på att undersöka huruvida filmtittares upplevelser påverkas av inadekvat efterklangspålägg inom eftersynkronisering av dialog till film. Hur efterklangspålägget passar till filmen anses bestämmas mycket utav hur bildens perspektiv och miljön runt omkring illustreras. En lyssningsundersökning utfördes med två olika videoexempel som undersökningsdeltagarna fick se och sedan svara på frågor relaterade till dessa. Målet var att få in motiveringar till svaren för att få en grundligare bild av deltagarnas upplevelse av efterklangen. Detta lyckades och dessa kommentarer gav underlag för diskussion. Av resultaten att döma upplevde deltagarna att efterklangen inte stämde vidare överens med bildens perspektiv och miljö. Detta hade mycket att göra med att efterklangen var aningen för torr i sin karaktär för att kännas naturlig.
