This paper presents a method for investigating ship emissions, the plume capture and analysis system (PCAS), and its application in measuring airborne pollutant emission factors (EFs) and particle size distributions. The current investigation was conducted in situ, aboard two dredgers (Amity: a cutter suction dredger and Brisbane: a hopper suction dredger) but the PCAS is also capable of performing such measurements remotely at a distant point within the plume. EFs were measured relative to the fuel consumption using the fuel combustion derived plume CO2. All plume measurements were corrected by subtracting background concentrations sampled regularly from upwind of the stacks. Each measurement typically took 6 minutes to complete and during one day, 40 to 50 measurements were possible. The relationship between the EFs and plume sample dilution was examined to determine the plume dilution range over which the technique could deliver consistent results when measuring EFs for particle number (PN), NOx, SO2, and PM2.5 within a targeted dilution factor range of 50-1000 suitable for remote sampling. The EFs for NOx, SO2, and PM2.5 were found to be independent of dilution, for dilution factors within that range. The EF measurement for PN was corrected for coagulation losses by applying a time dependant particle loss correction to the particle number concentration data. For the Amity, the EF ranges were PN: 2.2 - 9.6 × 1015 (kg-fuel)-1; NOx: 35-72 g(NO2).(kg-fuel)-1, SO2 0.6 - 1.1 g(SO2).(kg-fuel)-1and PM2.5: 0.7 – 6.1 g(PM2.5).(kg-fuel)-1. For the Brisbane they were PN: 1.0 – 1.5 x 1016 (kg-fuel)-1, NOx: 3.4 – 8.0 g(NO2).(kg-fuel)-1, SO2: 1.3 – 1.7 g(SO2).(kg-fuel)-1 and PM2.5: 1.2 – 5.6 g(PM2.5).(kg-fuel)-1. The results are discussed in terms of the operating conditions of the vessels’ engines. Particle number emission factors as a function of size as well as the count median diameter (CMD), and geometric standard deviation of the size distributions are provided. The size distributions were found to be consistently uni-modal in the range below 500 nm, and this mode was within the accumulation mode range for both vessels. The representative CMDs for the various activities performed by the dredgers ranged from 94-131 nm in the case of the Amity, and 58-80 nm for the Brisbane. A strong inverse relationship between CMD and EF(PN) was observed.

Kasvuston G-funktio kuvaa säteilyn vähenemistä tai ”sammumista” auringon eri korkeuskulmissa varjostavan lehtialan suhteen. Sen vuoksi sitä kutsutaan sammumiskertoimeksi. Tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli selvittää vaihteleeko G-funktion muoto eri puulajien metsiköissä, ja voidaanko puulajit erottaa toisistaan G-funktion muodon avulla. Arvioin lisäksi G-funktioiden muodossa kasvukaudenaikana tapahtuvia muutoksia. Muita tutkimuksen kannalta mielenkiintoisia tutkimuskysymyksiä olivat voidaanko ryhmittymistä tai latvusmuotoa arvioida G-funktion muodon avulla. Maastomittaukset suoritettiin 3.5.2010 -30.9.2010 välisenä aikana. Tutkimusalueena oli Hyytiälän metsäaseman (68?59`N, 35?72`E) ympäristö, jonka metsät edustavat tyypillistä boreaalista havu- ja lehtimetsää. Tutkimusta varten perustettiin kuusi yhden puulajin koealaa, kaksi kutakin puulajia kohden. Tutkittavat puulajit olivat mänty (Pinus sylvestris), kuusi (Picea abies) ja rauduskoivu (Betula pendula). Koealaparit valittiin niin, että kullekin puulajille muodostui varttuneesta metsästä ja taimikosta muodostuva pari tai vaihtoehtoisesti tiheämpi ja harvempi koeala. Koealoille perustettiin 81 mittauspistettä sisältävä mittaushila, jossa kunkin pisteen aukkoisuustiedot mitattiin kahden viikon välein. Mittaukset suoritettiin kahdella LAI-2000 Plant Canopy Analyzer -laitteella. Laitteiden tulosteista koealoille saatiin aukkoisuustiedot T(?) ja LAI, joiden avulla saatiin laskettua tarkasteltavat G-funktiot. Saman puulajin G-funktiota vertailtiin toisiinsa puulajityypillisten trendien havaitsemiseksi. Keskikesällä eri puulajien G-funktioita verrattiin toisiinsa. Teoreettisten simulointien avulla tutkittiin latvuksen dimensioiden (latvuksen pituus ja säde) ja sisäisen ryhmittäisyyden vaikutusta puulajikohtaiseen G-funktioon. Simuloinneissa käytettiin hyväksi tietoa koealojen puustotunnuksista, lehtialasta sekä runkoluvusta. Puulajikohtaiset G-funktiot ovat erotettavissa toisistaan funktion minimi- ja maksimiarvojen sijoittumisen sekä suhteellisen vaihteluvälin perusteella. Havupuualojen G-funktiot eivät juuri muuttuneet kasvukauden aikana. Koivualoilla G-funktion kasvukaudenaikaiset muutokset (pelkät oksat, hiirenkorvat ja täysikasvuiset lehdet) olivat sitä vastoin helposti havaittavissa. G-funktion muodon avulla voidaan myös arvioida latvusmuotoa ja ryhmittymistä. Mäntyjen latvusmuoto on approksimoitavissa parhaiten ympyräkartion avulla. Kuusien ja koivujen latvusmuodon approksimointiin parhaana vaihtoehtona voidaan pitää ellipsoidia. Teoreettisten simulointien perusteella nuori kuusikko on muita havupuualoja ryhmittyneempi. Tutkimuksen mukaan säteily sammuu satelliittien yleisimmässä kuvaussuunnassa tehokkaammin kuin kaikkien suuntien yli laskettu keskiarvo (0,5) antaa olettaa. Puulajikohtaisten G-funktioiden avulla voidaan epäsuorasti arvioida sekä metsästä tapahtuvaa heijastusta että metsikön sisäisiä säteilyolosuhteita, sillä puulaji yhdessä metsikön rakenteen kanssa vaikuttaa metsästä heijastuvaan säteilyyn. Puulajikohtainen G-funktio on parametri, jonka avulla voidaan kalibroida malleja, joissa tarvitaan tietoa säteilyn kulusta erilaisissa kasvustoissa.

柳叶鲜科植物是侧茹蓟类中的一个大科,其系统位置介于羽醉科和青醉科之间,在全世界分布很广。柳叶蓟科植物全世界先后报道有39属,约300余种,中国己记载26属。该科的种类众多,配子体和抱子体形态、生活习性呈多样化,根据不同形状研究其系统发育往往差异较大。目前柳汗卜蓟科科内属间和属内种间的系统位置存有许多争议。本研究对中国柳叶鲜科植物的RJ气PD分析,从DNA水平上对它们的亲缘关系和分类问题加以研究,为它们的分类学研究和亲缘关系提供分子证据。研究的主要结果有:1.苔醉植物中酚类化合物含量高,DNA提取和纯化非常困难,本研究采用改良CTAB法提取基因组DNA。从试验结果看出:改良CTAB法提取的基因组DNA的纯度较大,浓度较高,且稳定性、完整性都比较好。2.采取正交设计方法,建立了柳叶鲜科植物RAPD扩增的优化体系,反应体系主要成分为:模板DNA100ng、dNTPo.lmmol/L·Taq酶0.75U、引物0.20μmol/L、Mg2+浓度2.00mmol/1:反应体系总体积为25林L。反应程序为:94℃预变性5min,94℃lmin,36.5℃min,72℃90see,进行35个循环,最后一次延伸72℃10min,冷却至4℃保存。3.利用RAPD技术分析柳叶鲜科植物12个属26个种,用14个随机引物进行扩增,共得到171条清晰稳定的多态片段,Nei遗传相似系数分析结果表明:柳仆卜鲜属和薄网蓟属明显聚合在一起,可以合并为柳叶蓟属。传统上定义很广的细湿醉属(包括狭义的细湿蓟属、嗜湿龄属和偏叶鲜属)和水灰鲜属在聚类图中不聚合在一起,说明广义细湿鲜属和水灰鲜属不是一个很自然的分类类群,而应分为更细的属。且三洋蓟属、范氏辞属和湿原蓟属的关系较近。4-采用RAPD技术构建了9份牛角蓟标本的指纹图谱,结果表明:9份牛角鲜标本的形态特征差异虽然非常大,但通过RAPD分析表明其为同一种。通过RAPD分析不同意Ochyra(1989)将牛角鲜属单独成牛角鲜科,仍将牛角鲜属归于柳叶鲜科,包括1种1变种。

对金露梅灌丛地下生物量形成规律的研究结果表明:金露梅灌丛地下生物具有“V”字形季节变化规律和明显的垂直分布特征;金露梅灌丛死根和活根的生物量变化有显著的季节变化规律;金露梅灌丛草场地下生物量的周转值为35.72%,地下净生产量为1 206.4 g/m~2;金露梅灌丛地下生物量与地上生物量、总生物量的比值接近于生长季始末时最大;金露梅灌丛地下生物量与月平均气温和降水量有负相关关系。

La prospección para evaluar la biología y pesquería de Coryphaena hippurus perico o dorado, se efectuó del 10 de febrero al 1 de marzo 2010, a bordo del BIC Imarpe V. El área de extracción fue de 4°59’32,8’’ a 10°15’20,1’’S y de 79°55’16,2’’ a 84°35’04,2’’W; la captura total fue 1.500,5 kg. La CPUE varió de 0,9 a 18,2 kg/Nº Anzuelos/1000*hora efectiva de pesca. Se encontró alta selección interespecífi ca del espinel superfi cial, al capturar 87,8% de perico y 8 especies de peces, tortugas y cefalópodos. El rango de tallas para hembras fue 79 - 141 cm de LT, en machos fue 100 - 157 cm LT. El factor de condición de Fulton en machos varió de 0,30 a 0,46 y en hembras de 0,32 a 0,40. Se determinó para hembras: L∞=148,92 cm, tasa de crecimiento anual (K) 1,081, se estimó t0 = -0,076 años, el Índice de performance Ǿ= 4,38; para machos, estos parámetros fueron L∞=169,75 cm, tasa de crecimiento anual (K) de 0,893, t0 = -0,115, índice de performance Ǿ= 4,40. La curva de crecimiento en talla para hembras, indica que a un año de edad la LT es 102,4 cm y en machos 107 cm. El máximo crecimiento en peso para hembras y machos fue a 1,5 años de vida. El Índice gonadosomático (IGS) fl uctuó de 3,2 a 4,6 mostrando comportamiento heterogéneo. La proporción sexual fue de 2:1 favorable a las hembras. La fecundidad parcial fue de 324.416 ovocitos por tanda de desove. La fecundidad relativa fue 56 ovocitos/ gramo de peso corporal. El tipo de alimento fue peces, cefalópodos y crustáceos con dominancia de Exocoetus volitans (%IRI = 31,6), Argonauta spp. (%IRI = 26,4) mostrando variaciones según zonas y tallas. El consumo de alimento fue 472,7 g/ind./día correspondiente a 7,4% de su peso corporal, presentando fl uctuaciones con respecto a la talla; alimentándose en horas de la mañana, con un máximo entre las 8:00 y 9:59 horas. Se encontraron 5.762 parásitos, identifi cándose 8 especies en cuatro taxas. La prevalencia parasitaria indica que Tentacularia coryphaenae y Bathycotyle coryphaenae alcanzan el 100%, seguido por Hysterothylacium sp. 62% y Caligus coryphaenae 46%. El mayor número de parásitos se encontró en el estómago. Los peces entre 96–100 cm de LT son los más parasitados. La mayor incidencia parasitaria se encontró en la zona norte, en el tramo Paita-Salaverry. Los registros de temperatura en la columna de agua fueron de 12,7 a 27,3 °C y las ATSM de 0,2 a 4,1 °C. Por el frente oceánico se observaron comportamientos térmicos cálidos asociados a las masas de Aguas Ecuatoriales Superfi ciales y Aguas Subtropicales Superfi ciales y por la zona costera se localizaron Aguas Costeras Frías tanto en Chimbote como en Chicama con temperaturas próximas a 22,0 °C. La concentración de oxígeno disuelto superfi cial se presentó favorable para el perico.

Viver mais tempo, é sinónimo de envelhecimento, no entanto a longevidade não é necessariamente uma ameaça ou até mesmo uma fatalidade, é sim uma oportunidade que o Ser Humano tem para viver melhor os momentos que a vida lhe proporciona. Estima-se que, em Portugal, o envelhecimento demográfico tenha aumentado significativamente desde o Século XXI, existindo actualmente uma população idosa (mais de 65 anos) de 19,15% contra uma população jovem (inferior a 14 anos) de 14,89%. Hoje em dia a esperança média de vida é de 79,2 anos (80 anos para as mulheres e 74 anos para os homens). Estima-se que no ano de 2050 a população idosa aumente para 35,72% e a jovem diminua para 14,4%. No entanto, como consequência desse envelhecimento, aumenta a incidência de patologias crónicas, levando a um maior consumo de medicamentos (Polimedicação) e outros cuidados de saúde. É importante que se estabeleçam medidas para que o envelhecimento seja activo, ou seja, para que os idosos de “hoje” sejam activos, tenham plena cidadania, tendo maior segurança, maior participação e melhor qualidade de vida, sendo estas medidas, o maior desafio para a sociedade actual. A seguinte monografia visa abordar todos os conteúdos necessários para obter a informação necessária, de forma a compreender quais as medidas correctas para um acompanhamento farmacoterapêutico do doente idoso eficaz, diminuindo a morbilidade e mortalidade e desta forma aumentar a qualidade de vida na longevidade.

A study is made of the zonal-mean motions induced by a growing baroclinic wave in several contexts, under the framework of three different analysis schemes: the conventional Eulerian mean (EM), the transformed Eulerian mean (TEM), and the generalized Lagrangian mean (GLM). The effect of meridional shear in the initial jet on these induced mean motions is considered by treating the instability problem in the context of the two-layer model. The conceptual simplicity of the TEM formulation is shown to be useful in diagnosing the dynamics of instability, much as it has been found helpful in many problems of wave, mean-flow interaction. In addition, it is found that the TEM vertical velocity is a very good indicator of the GLM vertical velocity. However, the GLM meridional velocity is always convergent towards the centre of instability activity, and is not at all well represented by the nondivergent TEM meridional velocity. In comparing the results with Uryu's (1979) calculation of the GLM circulation induced by a growing Eady wave, it is found that the inclusion of meridional jet shear in the present work leads to some strikingly different effects in the GLM zonal wind acceleration. In the case of pure baroclinic instability treated by Uryu, the Eulerian and Stokes accelerations nearly cancel each other in the centre of the channel, leaving a weak Lagrangian acceleration opposed to the Eulerian one. In the more general case of mixed baroclinic-barotropic instability, however, the Eulerian and Stokes accelerations can reinforce one another, leading to a very strong Lagrangian zonal wind

Fracture risk is determined by bone mineral density (BMD). The T-score, a measure of fracture risk, is the position of an individual's BMD in relation to a reference range. The aim of this study was to determine the magnitude of change in the T-score when different sampling techniques were used to produce the reference range. Reference ranges were derived from three samples, drawn from the same region: (1) an age-stratified population-based random sample, (2) unselected volunteers, and (3) a selected healthy subset of the population-based sample with no diseases or drugs known to affect bone. T-scores were calculated using the three reference ranges for a cohort of women who had sustained a fracture and as a group had a low mean BMD (ages 35-72 yr; n = 484). For most comparisons, the T-scores for the fracture cohort were more negative using the population reference range. The difference in T-scores reached 1.0 SD. The proportion of the fracture cohort classified as having osteoporosis at the spine was 26, 14, and 23% when the population, volunteer, and healthy reference ranges were applied, respectively. The use of inappropriate reference ranges results in substantial changes to T-scores and may lead to inappropriate management.

This work aimed to analyze the energetic consumption of the etanol production system, using the cassava as carbohidrates source. The researches were carried out from the field in the mid region of Paranapanema river, São Paulo state, during the period January to December, 2007. The energy consumption referring to the phases of crop production and industrial processing were appraised. It was verified that the total energetic cost of the crop production corresponded to 9,528.33 MJ ha(-1), and the most onerous item was the inputs (35.72%). In the industrial step, the energetic consumption was equivalent to 2,208.28 MJ t(-1). The operations of hydrolysis/saccharification/treatment of the juice represented 56.72% of the total energetic expenditure. The cassava crop presented an energetic cost of 1.54 MJ L-1 in relation to the etanol produced in the main agronomic operations crop production, and 11.76 MJ L-1 in the industrial processing. The energy efficiency observed in the cultivation and industrialization of the cassava was of 1.76.
