L'estudi tracta d'establir les bases per al disseny d'un lloc web de consulta bibliogràfica mèdica des del punt de vista de la Interacció Humana amb l'Ordinador (IHO) tenint en compte els principis del Disseny Centrat en l'Usuari (DCU). En una primera part, l'estudi analitza un conjunt de portals ja existents d'aquesta temàtica i d'ús freqüent entre els professionals sanitaris. En una segona part, es proposa un prototip de portal web amb idees noves que millorin i proporcionin un valor afegit a les ja existents.

S'analitza també el sistema operatiu de què disposa (Windows Mobile 6.0 Professional).

Disseny d'un entorn tàctil per a un videoclub, que sigui totalment competitiu amb els sistemes actuals i amb les necessitats de la gent, en concret a persones amb alguna minusvalidesa. A més aquest disseny permetrà adaptar-se a les noves tecnologies que ens ofereix Internet com pot ser la compra / lloguer en línia però en lloc d'utilitzar l'entorn tàctil s'utilitzés el ratolí.

BACKGROUND Breast cancer survivors suffer physical impairment after oncology treatment. This impairment reduces quality of life (QoL) and increase the prevalence of handicaps associated to unhealthy lifestyle (for example, decreased aerobic capacity and strength, weight gain, and fatigue). Recent work has shown that exercise adapted to individual characteristics of patients is related to improved overall and disease-free survival. Nowadays, technological support using telerehabilitation systems is a promising strategy with great advantage of a quick and efficient contact with the health professional. It is not known the role of telerehabilitation through therapeutic exercise as a support tool to implement an active lifestyle which has been shown as an effective resource to improve fitness and reduce musculoskeletal disorders of these women. METHODS / DESIGN This study will use a two-arm, assessor blinded, parallel randomized controlled trial design. People will be eligible if: their diagnosis is of stages I, II, or IIIA breast cancer; they are without chronic disease or orthopedic issues that would interfere with ability to participate in a physical activity program; they had access to the Internet and basic knowledge of computer use or living with a relative who has this knowledge; they had completed adjuvant therapy except for hormone therapy and not have a history of cancer recurrence; and they have an interest in improving lifestyle. Participants will be randomized into e-CUIDATE or usual care groups. E-CUIDATE give participants access to a range of contents: planning exercise arranged in series with breathing exercises, mobility, strength, and stretching. All of these exercises will be assigned to women in the telerehabilitation group according to perceived needs. The control group will be asked to maintain their usual routine. Study endpoints will be assessed after 8 weeks (immediate effects) and after 6 months. The primary outcome will be QoL measured by The European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire Core 30 version 3.0 and breast module called The European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Breast Cancer-Specific Quality of Life questionnaire. The secondary outcomes: pain (algometry, Visual Analogue Scale, Brief Pain Inventory short form); body composition; physical measurement (abdominal test, handgrip strength, back muscle strength, and multiple sit-to-stand test); cardiorespiratory fitness (International Fitness Scale, 6-minute walk test, International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short Form); fatigue (Piper Fatigue Scale and Borg Fatigue Scale); anxiety and depression (Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale); cognitive function (Trail Making Test and Auditory Consonant Trigram); accelerometry; lymphedema; and anthropometric perimeters. DISCUSSION This study investigates the feasibility and effectiveness of a telerehabilitation system during adjuvant treatment of patients with breast cancer. If this treatment option is effective, telehealth systems could offer a choice of supportive care to cancer patients during the survivorship phase. Evaluating other individuals with respect to personality characteristics plays a crucial role in human relations and it is the focus of attention for research in diverse fields such as psychology and interactive computer systems. In psychology, face perception has been recognized as a key component of this evaluation system. Multiple studies suggest that observers use face information to infer personality characteristics. Interactive computer systems are trying to take advantage of these findings and apply them to increase the natural aspect of interaction and to improve the performance of interactive computer systems. Here, we experimentally test whether the automatic prediction of facial trait judgments (e.g. dominance) can be made by using the full appearance information of the face and whether a reduced representation of its structure is sufficient. We evaluate two separate approaches: a holistic representation model using the facial appearance information and a structural model constructed from the relations among facial salient points. State of the art machine learning methods are applied to a) derive a facial trait judgment model from training data and b) predict a facial trait value for any face. Furthermore, we address the issue of whether there are specific structural relations among facial points that predict perception of facial traits. Experimental results over a set of labeled data (9 different trait evaluations) and classification rules (4 rules) suggest that a) prediction of perception of facial traits is learnable by both holistic and structural approaches; b) the most reliable prediction of facial trait judgments is obtained by certain type of holistic descriptions of the face appearance; and c) for some traits such as attractiveness and extroversion, there are relationships between specific structural features and social perceptions.

BACKGROUND: The central function of dendritic cells (DC) in inducing and preventing immune responses makes them ideal therapeutic targets for the induction of immunologic tolerance. In a rat in vivo model, we showed that dexamethasone-treated DC (Dex-DC) induced indirect pathway-mediated regulation and that CD4+CD25+ T cells were involved in the observed effects. The aim of the present study was to investigate the mechanisms underlying the acquired immunoregulatory properties of Dex-DC in the rat and human experimental systems. METHODS: After treatment with dexamethasone (Dex), the immunogenicity of Dex-DC was analyzed in T-cell proliferation and two-step hyporesponsiveness induction assays. After carboxyfluorescein diacetate succinimidyl ester labeling, CD4+CD25+ regulatory T-cell expansion was analyzed by flow cytometry, and cytokine secretion was measured by ELISA. RESULTS: In this study, we demonstrate in vitro that rat Dex-DC induced selective expansion of CD4+CD25+ regulatory T cells, which were responsible for alloantigen-specific hyporesponsiveness. The induction of regulatory T-cell division by rat Dex-DC was due to secretion of interleukin (IL)-2 by DC. Similarly, in human studies, monocyte-derived Dex-DC were also poorly immunogenic, were able to induce T-cell anergy in vitro, and expand a population of T cells with regulatory functions. This was accompanied by a change in the cytokine profile in DC and T cells in favor of IL-10. CONCLUSION: These data suggest that Dex-DC induced tolerance by different mechanisms in the two systems studied. Both rat and human Dex-DC were able to induce and expand regulatory T cells, which occurred in an IL-2 dependent manner in the rat system.

Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) is a challenging discipline that is currently concerned with the design, implementation and evaluation of interactive systems for human use, as well as the study of major phenomena surrounding them. Indeed, interdisciplinary communities formed by scientists, university teachers and students, people coming from the industry and customers related to HCI are emerging in different parts of the world. In particular, this article overviews the HCI community in the Ibero-American context, which involves hundreds of millions of people working or studying in HCI, whose cultural background is primarily associated with the Spanish and Portuguese languages and cultures, regardless of ethnic and geographical differences. Our final goal is to improve the visibility of this particular HCI community, enhancing the self awareness of its members and their individual motivation and future exchanges.

Este trabajo evalúa la usabilidad de la web de Renfe, comparándola con sitios de características similares, particularmente en Francia y Alemania. Para este análisis se efectúa un test de usuario con personas enmarcadas dentro de las características de los usuarios potenciales.

Käyttäjien tunnistaminen tietojärjestelmissä on ollut yksi tietoturvan kulmakivistä vuosikymmenten ajan. Ajatus käyttäjätunnuksesta ja salasanasta on kaikkein kustannustehokkain ja käytetyin tapa säilyttää luottamus tietojärjestelmän ja käyttäjien välillä. Tietojärjestelmien käyttöönoton alkuaikoina, jolloin yrityksissä oli vain muutamia tietojärjestelmiä ja niitä käyttivät vain pieni ryhmä käyttäjiä, tämä toimintamalli osoittautui toimivaksi. Vuosien mittaan järjestelmien määrä kasvoi ja sen mukana kasvoi salasanojen määrä ja monimuotoisuus. Kukaan ei osannut ennustaa, kuinka paljon salasanoihin liittyviä ongelmia käyttäjät kohtaisivat ja kuinka paljon ne tulisivat ruuhkauttamaan yritysten käyttäjätukea ja minkälaisia tietoturvariskejä salasanat tulisivat aiheuttamaan suurissa yrityksissä. Tässä diplomityössä tarkastelemme salasanojen aiheuttamia ongelmia suuressa, globaalissa yrityksessä. Ongelmia tarkastellaan neljästä eri näkökulmasta; ihmiset, teknologia, tietoturva ja liiketoiminta. Ongelmat osoitetaan esittelemällä tulokset yrityksen työntekijöille tehdystä kyselystä, joka toteutettiin osana tätä diplomityötä. Ratkaisu näihin ongelmiin esitellään keskitetyn salasanojenhallintajärjestelmän muodossa. Järjestelmän eri ominaisuuksia arvioidaan ja kokeilu -tyyppinen toteutus rakennetaan osoittamaan tällaisen järjestelmän toiminnallisuus.

Craving is considered the main variable associated with relapse after smoking cessation. Cue Exposure Therapy (CET) consists of controlled and repeated exposure to drug-related cues with the aim of extinguishing craving responses. Some virtual reality (VR) environments, such as virtual bars or parties, have previously shown their efficacy as tools for eliciting smoking craving. However, in order to adapt this technology to smoking cessation interventions, there is a need for more diverse environments that enhance the probability of generalization of extinction in real life. The main objective of this study was to identify frequent situations that produce smoking craving, as well as detecting specific craving cues in those contexts. Participants were 154 smokers who responded to an ad hoc self-administered inventory for assessing craving level in 12 different situations. Results showed that having a drink in a bar/pub at night, after having lunch/dinner in a restaurant and having a coffee in a cafe or after lunch/dinner at home were reported as the most craving-inducing scenarios. Some differences were found with regard to participants' gender, age, and number of cigarettes smoked per day. Females, younger people, and heavier smokers reported higher levels of craving in most situations. In general, the most widely cited specific cues across the contexts were people smoking, having a coffee, being with friends, and having finished eating. These results are discussed with a view to their consideration in the design of valid and reliable VR environments that could be used in the treatment of nicotine addicts who wish to give up smoking.

The advent of the Internet had a great impact on distance education and rapidly e-learning has become a killer application. Education institutions worldwide are taking advantage of the available technology in order to facilitate education to a growing audience. Everyday, more and more people use e-learning systems, environments and contents for both training and learning. E-learning promotes educationamong people that due to different reasons could not have access to education: people who could nottravel, people with very little free time, or withdisabilities, etc. As e-learning systems grow and more people are accessing them, it is necessary to consider when designing virtual environments the diverse needs and characteristics that different users have. This allows building systems that people can use easily, efficiently and effectively, where the learning process leads to a good user experience and becomes a good learning experience.
